Basic Information
| Biography: | Started playing disc golf when I was 42 and my son was 12. I live 8 miles from Lindsey Park, a 3 course complex in Tyler,TX where the Piney Woods Open is held. I had seen the baskets and heard disc golf mentioned once. It sounded cool. So, we got a $10 Franklin set and went to Lindsey Park. My son and I had so much fun together taking turns throwing on the course! We were instantly hooked. Ever since, almost all my free time and "spare" funds have gone into playing this great sport. It's about 2yrs later now, the boy has discovered other interests like girls and playing football, but I have not. Disc golf and all that it entails has become very important to me. I have a passion to be the best disc golfer I can be. I'm a Sunday school teacher, and when I am throwing frisbees in the woods is when I am closest to God. It's the only time and activity that all I am thinking about what I am actually doing. Whether working or driving or conversing or even praying I tend to be thinking about something else. There's so much peace with being in the moment. Especially, when it involves the grace of a perfectly thrown disc. I truly regret not have found disc golf 20yrs ago. I believe I would have been a better person for it. However, I am so glad to to able to play and compete now. I have done well in some tournaments in the Rec div over the last year. Won 3 of them. And I have a few hard fought 2nd and 3rd place finishes also. Moved up to Adv Masters this year and looking forward to continuing improving my skills set and rating. Lord willing. | ||||||||||||||||
