    Grip Performance Details

Grip performance is the grippiest of the Daredevil plastic blends. If you're looking for a plastic that will perform well in all weather conditions, consider this one. Grip performance is less durable than Daredevil's High and Flex performance blends.

I got the Caribou to replace my Mako3 which flew more understable than it was supposed to since it was xt plastic and I seemed to like trees. The Caribou delivered on the flight. It was exactly what I wanted. When thrown flat it will slightly turn to the right then fade back at the end. When thrown on anhyzer it will hold the line untill the very end where it will fade to flat before hitting the ground.

The plastic of this disc is good and bad. The grip is great. It's soft and tacky even when slightly wet, however it will coat itself in dirt and will need to be wiped off or it will lose it's grippy ness. It is also not very durable. Mine already has a warp in it like what happened to my xt Mako3. It still flies pretty good thou. Maybe I just need to learn to avoid trees.

    A Grippy Comet

I bought this on a whim. I wanted an easy throwing lower speed midrange that might turn over later in flight than a sol. Right out of the box, this disc caught me off guard. I have other Daredevil Grip Performance discs (the Swift Fox is Grip Performance) but I was NOT expecting the plastic of the Caribou. The Caribou version of Grip Performance is like Discraft Soft-X. While you can't quite bend the Caribou in half like a taco, it is soft and pliable. In fact, it also feels similar to the Walrus, although the Walrus is Elastic Performance. So if you are familiar with Soft-X and Elastic Performance, then the Caribou falls between that. In other words, the grip is phenomenal. 7 doesn't do it justice. I don't know what plastic actually grips better than this. Seriously. And that grip translates to nice straight weak arm throws. 200 to 250 feet dead straight is effortless with this disc. Even after a lot of abuse on this soft plastic though, it is NOT a flippy disc. Throwing it alongside a pretty new G-Star Mako on a hyzerflip, the mako flipped and flew as predicted. The Caribou refused to flip for me. On the other hand, it rides the anhyzer line very well, much like the mako or a comet. This is a very capable single disc in much the same way that the comet is although you get better grip with the caribou. It excels in touch shots as well. My only gripe with the disc is on the forehand. I don't like the feel. But it's not the grip. I don't like flicking Comets either. Looking at profiles of comets and caribous together, they are very similar. If you like comets (and there's a whole lot of you who do) then if you are looking to play in wet weather or winter weather, do yourself a favor and buy a caribou.

Did I decide to get this disc simply because I thought that the name Caribou was cool? Yes, but that's beside the point. I have really dug this disc since I bought it. It is very easy to control and is pretty reliable when thrown on a flat angle. I have attempted to throw it on a hyzer-flip shot before and the results have been mixed. I do not have the strongest arm so sometimes the shot peters out before I get the intended results but that's on me not the disc. I use it for short drives and for shots just outside of my putting range with great success. When you power it down it flies straight as an arrow with a small dependable fade.

The Daredevil numbers on turn and fade are never quite correct. The Caribou does not have a -3 turn in my experience and has slightly more fade than a 1 but less than 1.5 (think like... 1.3). It likes to be thrown when you have a tailwind and can ride the waves well.

The plastic feels good but occasionally is too grippy and sticks to my hand during release. The disc feels a lot like an Innova Shark on the rim. In the same comparison, it is slightly more domed and feels wider.

This is a fanastic understable mid. I was given this disc by a guy who got it at tournament. It has become one of my go to get out of trouble disc. It holds any line you put it on and I use it for touch forehands. It is a great option if you want an understable mid outside of the normal options like a Comet. The Grip plastic is a great plastic with plenty of grit for good grip. It reminds me of a gritter Star plastic.
