The Discmania Splice is a fairway driver with a lot of overstability. This disc is great for headwind shots and skip shots. It's used effectively by both backhand and forehand players.

This is by far the most overstable disc in my bag. It's become somewhat of a utility disc for me just because of how quickly it goes into its fade. If I throw it flat, it kinda behaves almost like a spike hyzer. If I try to throw a spike hyzer, it's going to become a meteor and fall straight down to the ground. If I throw with a lot of anhyzer, it will always flex into the turn quickly. This disc was definitely not designed to fly far, but it's great for tight maneuvers or to get around obstacles. It will pretty much always start fading right after you throw it, even with a ton of anhyzer. I highly recommend trying it out, but you're definitely not going to break any distance records with it.

The splice was a disc that has drastically changed once my perspective was shifted. The splice is an extremely overstable fairway driver that is very trustworthy for anyone who likes to rip on anhyzer or throw overhand shots. I always felt like the splice was getting to the point where it was almost too overstable for a majority of situations other than some crazy scramble shots. But once I got my hands on a tilt and threw one a few times, the splice has shifted to a workable overstable fairway. I still think this thing is crazy overstable, but when you see something that is truly unthrowable like a tilt, you notice how you are able to utilize some throwable overstability that the splice has. I think there is a lot of distance potential if you have a fast enough arm for the splice and I know people who throw overhands love this disc. If you have thrown a splice I would recommend throwing a tilt because you will realize how good this disc is. If you already love this disc I can very much see why.

If you throw overhand, you need this disc

People talk about this disc as an incredible "get out of jail free card" and it absolutely is: it can make lines that just aren't possible with other discs.  However, this disc is a low-key BOMBER for Overhand shots (thumber and tomahawk)!  The secret is out: this will add distance to your OH game and save you strokes

The Splice is a very overstable, low glide disc that advanced players will find to be very reliable.  The flight pattern is very much in the realm of the 11x Firebird (faster, very low glide, very high fade) which is so coveted in the disc golf community (I retired mine recently out of fear of losing it).  In my quest to find a suitable replacement, this disc has done the job very well.

Though it flies like a Firebird, the feel is much different in the hand.  The disc feels wider and not as svelte.  This may be preferred by players with larger hands, though I find it to make no real difference.  The disc is table-top flat with no hint of dome at all.  I find it to be a very confident disc for forehands and can handle a ton of torque and anhyzer without ever turning over; it will always come back.

If you are looking for an extremely beefy, hard-fading, 9-speed driver, the Splice is an excellent choice.

This thing just dies. Not much glide at all, it's like a faster Justice or a more useful Tilt. Rim doesn't feel great, but it accomplishes the job. I'd prefer a Raptor or FD3 personally.

I like this disc as a pure utility disc. This disc usually only comes out when I'm pinched & need a clever escape. My favorite use is in the woods & hitting a skip shot on a tough angle. This disc does an awesome flare skip. I believe the shape of this rim attributes to these useful skips (it is an odd feeling & aggressive shaped rim). Outside of utility use, this disc doesn't go far for me & dumps.

Not as good as the Firebird.

This is DM's version of the firebird, however I would say it has a glide 2 and maybe a little more fade. I also think it hurts in the hand, but it can still be useful as a utility disc. It needs a softer rim, and this would be a perfect disc. Forehands, grenades, hammers, thumbers - this is a utility disc.

This thing is beefy. Its a point... fly a little... then dump disc. Very dependable and won't go far. Its a beefy FAF firebird. Great into the wind and a very comfortable in the hand. A beat in one is going to be super super nice. Its a good compliment to my Star Firebird that seems to want to fly forever before fading hard.

I like this disc, just not compared to the Firebird.  It's certainly more overstable to me than the Firebird so I'd like to keep it in my bag for those really extreme shots but there's just not room for something I'm going to use once every 2-3 rounds.  If you want mega-fade at this speed and you have uses for it, absolutely it's a quality choice.

I love this disc.  First off, it is VERY overstable.  Think of the most overstable disc you've thrown (except the tilt), and add some more.  I throw a lot of forehand approaches and struggle to find a disc that fits my power level.  This fills that slot in my bag.  Anywhere from 150 to 225 ft, I can control placement with ease.  Forehand rollers hold for days and has guaranteed big fade finish.  Whether scrambling, short drivers, or approaches, this disc is as dependable as they come.  I don't use this for backhands unless its a very short distance spike hyzer.  This disc has no place in a beginners bag. Intermediate and above will find some use for it whether utility or short drives.  Can't recommend it enough.

More overstable than the numbers would make you believe. Think more overstable Firebird/Felon/Ahti/Pioneer. Also slightly less glide. I can throw this on thumber lines that I would use my Opto-X Stiletto on, and aside from not going as far, it follows the same line.
