The Star Max provides better grip and slightly more flex than Champion, while preserving the disc’s signature fade-heavy flight. It suits power throwers looking for a softer feel with stability.

This is a hard to find disc these days. At the time of this writing you can find a bunch of them in new condition at Southern View Classic Course.

I've only thrown the Max in Star plastic but as the name suggests, this disc is MAX BEEF!

You definitely need a strong throw for this disc.

I would be sure that the Max in any plastic would be ULTIMATE BEEF!

You've heard the question, "Where's the beef?" well look no further!

The single best overstable driver ever made. The 11 speed rim feels great in hands of all sizes, just don't ever expect it to flip for you. Terrific for managing winds.

Far and away my favorite disc ever.

WARNING: Do NOT touch this disc unless you have the form and practice to really rip on a disc. That being said, even with a full crush you will seldom get a ton of distance with a Max. We can't all be Eagle McMahon.

I'm a very odd person who bags TWO Max's in my bag. I have a domey Star Max that I use for utility drives into insane wind conditions. I also have the Infinite Concrete Slab (Essentially a FAF MetalFlake Max) that is used for flick rollers only; maybe an overhand. I just love the feel of the disc in my hand so I want to harness it's stability as much as I can, even though I'm throwing with amateur speeds.

If you want a jack of all trades utility disc, give the Max a shot. But don't be mad when you can't keep it in the air that long.

I have a 175g glow champion max, I love this disc! The disc was a giant meat hook out of the box but with a few months of throwing it had "broke in" to fly well (no beating in shown on the disc even at this point). I can rip the disc and it will NEVER flip and will ALWAYS skip up.

I have thrown a lot of angles with this disc, nothing is ever wrong. My favorite is throwing the low screamer with it. I can get 200ft and have it touch the ground and have an instant skip left. Put it high and it will fight out left quick. I didn't do much backhand anhyzer as you needed to much angle for it to work for me.

Sidearm this disc is so useful. Thrown flat you can get great hook around trees, I love flexing it out. Thrown with anhyzer sidearm you see it instantly start fighting out in a straightish line and then dump right with a skip. I have a local course with a 210ft downhill shot that has the pin tucked to the right with a 25ft gap in pin trees to access to route, I flex the disc out sidearm and watch it skip right into the gap and leave me at circles edge for birdie every time.

The Max is the definition of utility disc. For me, It is basically a faster more over stable firebird. If you love ripping an anny forehand and watching dive back to the right, this is the disc for you. Also, a great disc if you need a big skip. Throw it hard and flat, backhand or forehand, and you will get a big skip from it. Very reliable no matter how strong the headwind is. You wont get big distance out of it, but inside of 300’ you can count on it to do the same thing everytime.

This is an amazing utility disc for players with moderate to high arm speeds. That being said a beginner could still find a use for it but if favors more skilled and experienced players. For me this is the disc I use whenever I need to flex a shot around any obstacle and have no doubt that it will fly back towards the target. I don't know anyone except for some guy named eagle that can make this disc fly straight but that is not what it is meant for. It does a great job of being an EXTREMELY overstable utility driver.

I started throwing a Max for forehand shots and eventually threw one for long enough it just became a staple in my bag.  It's great for skip shots and forehands that you never have to worry about turning over.  If you can throw rollers, the Max has a really wide edge that allows it to roll for a long way.  It's super overstable but the fade doesn't happen until a little bit late, which is why I love it for technical shots and risky shots.

Beginners Review: All the other reviews that I read on this disc have held true. I am LHBH and even with my biggest rip this thing dove right extremely hard. There are a lot of shots that I can see this disc coming in handy but that is only because I am usually scrambling : )

The Max is absolutely a niche disc. Even top level pros don't use it off the tee for standard drives. Where the Max comes in handy is when you simply can't get a disc to carry forward in a raging headwind or you have to throw a shot the to right and have it finish as hard left as possible. This disc can see some phenomenal utility as a get out of trouble disc, but you'd be hard pressed to find a use for it in typical disc golf situations. Regardless, as many players bag a justice or gator for those tricky shots, this disc absolutely can hold a spot in your bag for moments that you simply need the most stability possible in a disc.

One of the greatest drivers ever made. The Star Max is the perfect driver for strong forehand drives. Max is extremely comfortable in the hand for backhand or forehand spike hyzer's. This disc is the greatest wind fighting disc I've thrown. The perfect super overstable driver.

You need an overstable pig? Look no further than the max. I use this disc for when I need a good hook, either forehand or backhand. It also makes for a great anticipated skip shot. Maybe an overstable pig isn't want you need then try and find a beat up one. I have one that is also beat up that is a hyzer flip machine or get it to hold a very nice slight anny and still have confidence it will pull out. Also makes for an excellent overhand disc when slightly beat.
