The D2 Max is the D2 retooled edition. The Prodigy D2 Max is overstable, but not quite as overstable as the D1 Max. It has a higher degree of high speed turn, and slightly less low-speed fade. This driver is used by players with a variety of skill levels.

    500 Details

500 Plastic was development over a considerable period of time to formulate a blend based upon player feedback. It has a stiffer, less gummy feel than 400 Plastic. The 500 blend provides an extremely confident grip on the firm, yet flexible flight plate. It also provides a very solid feeling rim.

Not what I was expecting out of this disc. I was looking for a stable disc to fill in a slot after beating in my D2 max. But this disc was very flippy out of the box. The disc has a great feel to it, pretty gummy but with a good dome to it. The plastic is very nice and somewhat slick.

My first throw with it was with a tailwind. Popped up on a hyzer thinking it would flip up to straight and finish with a fade but it turned on me and finished with a good amount of fade. Ending up throwing 450' with it. For me, I'll end up using this disc for big distance. But I'll continue to search for my straight to stable distance driver.

This is currently my favorite distance driver in my bag. I recently started throwing Prodigy discs, and I love this along with the D3. However, unlike the ratings suggest, I find the D2 max to be slightly more understable than the D3 (both in 400 plastic). I have moderate power (max distance drives with no wind roughly 415-425 ft), and when thrown flat this thing turns consistently for the first 2/3 of the flight and then fades nicely towards the end of its flight. If thrown on a slight anhyzer, this will hold the line for nearly the entire flight.

The best part about this disc, however, is that it has controllable/consistent max distance. I can feel comfortable throwing this in both tight windows as well as wide open fairways. Whether thrown with 80% power or 100% power, it will always follow the same flight path. The only thing that changes is the total distance. All in all, this is a great max distance driver that has control like a fairway driver. It is a go-to in my bag and arguably my most used disc off the tee for anything over 375 ft.
