The Viking Cosmos is described as a point and shoot fairway driver. This is a straight-flying driver that is great for beginners and works great for tight courses where you need to hit the tiny gaps.

    Ground Plastic Details

Viking Ground plastic has been designed to offer excellent grip in hot, cold, and even rainy weather conditions. This plastic grade is flexible and sticky compared with the other Viking plastic blends. Discs in ground plastic seem to have more glide and quickly break in to give you a straighter flight over time.

Very straight flyer, easy to meet spin speed, glides smoothly. My goto fairway driver.

    170 gram Ground Plastic Cosmos

I picked up a Cosmos on sale just to try it out.  I was very pleasantly surprised.   It fits nicely in the hand, and has a very clean release.  It is a straight flyer with barely any fade.  Great for tunnel shots.  Not the farthest flyer, but consistent.  The ground plastic is the least expensive option from Viking, and has the lowest durability... but it holds up much better than say DX from Innova.  My Cosmos has hit trees and rocks, but has little visible imperfections and continues to be stable.

I tested out the Cosmos in the most budget blend from Viking Discs-- Ground plastic. For me, it felt a lot like I was playing with a low-weight DX Leopard from an Innova starter pack. It's a great disc for beginners, or for players with enough control to dial their power down and throw the Cosmos with almost no force. I could throw it straight up to 200 feet with almost just the flick of the wrist, but when I started to throw with more force, the Cosmos became an instant roller. Of course, it is not meant to be thrown with power. Even when I threw harder with a strong hyzer angle, the disc stood up and continued to flip over.

I'm giving this disc to my daughter to try out. It might work perfectly for her, though she is partial to her Diamond and Pearl discs. The Cosmos isn't the disc for me, but I give it three stars for being a serviceable starter disc. Do keep in mind, however, that the Ground plastic is very prone to dings and warps...go for Storm plastic if you want it to last longer.
