As an overstable, but not too overstable disc, the Boatman makes a good forehand driver for intermediate players looking for distance. This is a fast disc with virtually no turn and moderate low-speed fade.

The Boatman just bombs. In Tournament, they start out stable to over-stable for moderate power, but beat into a bullet capable of fighting moderate wind and covering a lot of ground. Not beginner friendly, but an intermediate player can get a lot of joy and distance out of the Boatman in TP

I absolutely love the tournament boatman. I switched to throwing only Trilogy Discs and have been looking and buying discs like crazy until I found a good driver for my forehand and forehand flex shots. The Boatman is THAT driver. It’s pretty easy to control at an intermediate level and has minimum fade but will def fade at the end of the drive. If I throw it low, the boatman gets a very decent skip as well. Looking forward to trying a couple VIP boatman next

This disc goes so far!!! Great rim width, comfortable feel, and glides for days.  This was my first "big boy" driver when my fairways started flipping a bit too much for me and it is great.  If you are a beginner wanting to trying a bit beefier, try this disc out.

Loving the Boatman thus far! I put this disc in my bag recently as I am trying to establish what my bag will be for the upcoming season, and it will likely be staying.

My experience with Westside has been that their higher speed discs are far more friendly to intermediate arms than that of other companies. For an 11 speed driver, the boatman feels and flies much easier than say the Wraith.

Thrown flat and smooth you will see it soar with a touch of turn but dependable fade at the end. As some mentioned, this is a more stable disc than an overstable disc in thay regard. It glides effortlessly with an 85% pull and goes FAR.

The Boatman does run into trouble when you throw it too hard. If you are trying to put some added oomph into it, it is far less predictable and might never pull out of its turn.

The boatman holds anhyzer angles admirably- I might not hold it to the ground, but it will net to the arm side of your body.

Really digging this disc, and I'm lpoking forward to tossing the VIP version!

I feel like a lot of people want a longer teebird, something that can take some power and hold a straight line for a long time before finishing with a moderate amount of fade.

    This. Is. It.

I bag 3 Boatmans (Boatmen?) and always buy any good condition used ones that pop up at my local shop. It's comfortable for both forehand and backhand, and just holds that line forever. It's got really good glide for those laser forehands. I can consistently get 330 on forehands with this disc without over-straining myself. On backhands I can get about 400 out of it, and I'm really only an intermediate player (for comparison I can't push a Destroyer much past 325 RHBH).

    Just buy this disc

Not too overstable is perfect to describe the boatman. I picked up a TP 172 and it's closer to stable than overstable. Great flick disc for me but this was the first disc that I started seeing further distance with. Glides forever and if thrown with enough hyzer, it will flip up, glide flat and finish left. Will hold a good anhyzer line for a while before coming back.

I have been throwing for almost twenty years and I have no reservations with definitively stating this is my favorite distance driver I have ever thrown. I can not find a distance shot/long line that this disc can't handle within my capabilities (350 ft.-ish). Straight flyer, little fade on flat...will hold a reasonable hyzer with a nice little skip (fade is that pretty fade also as opposed to that sharp spike)...even on a slight anny this thing will come around and glide across the fairway real clean. It's odd that this an 11 speed and it feels as clean as any fairway driver for me on release. Super pleased with this disc.

My forehand game sucked, until I picked up this disc.

    179 grams of tournament plastic.

This disc holds a straight line and has a Beast like skip to it.

This is my go to for mid range (RHFH) approaches and long range (RHBH) tunnel shots.

When I want to rip hard, and straight, with mild fade, this is my go to disc.

The rim on this disc is quite nice for both RHFH and RHBH, fits very nicely regardless of grip.

I cannot recommend this disc enough for a solid reliable flight.

I just threw a Boatman for the first time yesterday in the Dynamic Discs 2 Disc Challenge. This disc was perfect for that event. It is a very easy disc to throw and get decent distance with. I think the flight chart from inbounds disc golf is pretty accurate. I never got mine to turn over at all. It flew very straight and had a predictable fade at the end of the flight. I thew it a lot forehand as well and it was very easy to throw. I feel like this disc would be a great compliment to an Innova Krait--just a little more overstable. Overall I think this is a great disc for anyone looking for a long, straight flying disc.
