This beadless slightly overstable midrange is an easy to throw mold. It provides an effortless straight flight with a consistent healthy fade. Into a head wind this will exhibit less of a fade with the same straight flight. The Dawn fits comfortably in the hand, helping you to achieve accurate and consistent throws. This can find its way to be your well-beat-in workhorse midrange.

Picked one of these up because of the price, and did some field throwing with it alongside a PX3 and DX alien. Flew decently farther than both, as the numbers would suggest it should. Nearly full-power backhand got a touch of turn, nice straight glide, and a soft fade at the finish. Could definitely see myself bagging this for the straight long approach/straight short tee shot slot. It feels great in the hand for forehands, although doesn't have the torque resistance for a harder throw (turns and burns when powered up), but works for finesse flicks. Softer plastic also didn't get a ton of ground play. Pleasantly surprised overall.

I see this described as both putter(/approach) and midrange. Distance-wise it's probably more comparable to mids, though its straight flight, finish, and landing seem more like a putter. Compared to my other putters, this one flies farther than the others and does so it a pretty straight path. It doesn't seem to have a full 2-Fade to me compared with, say, my 5-5-0-2 midrange, but that's just as well: it flies straight and far, and has a controlled landing. Putting with it seems to be pretty accurate as well, though it may prove to be more of an approach disc for me rather than a go-to putter. Since it's designed as an approach disc and will be getting more powerful throws more often than a lot of putters, it might be nice to have the option of a Dawn in higher grade plastic.

The XCom Dawn is a pretty unique putt and approach disc. For a putter, it has a super thick rim. In fact, it's thicker than many midrange discs.

Personally, for putting, I really like thin rim putters. I have more control when my index finger can grip the outside edge of the bottom rim. The shape of the Dawn makes it a terrible putter for me and I end up yanking almost everything to the right of the basket.

However, when it comes as a thrower, the Dawn is really good. It's got a stable flight and is really just a small diameter stable midrange. One thing for sure is that you can't beat the price of the Dawn, so if you're looking for a reliable ultra cheap all purpose disc, the Dawn will do.
