Got this as part of a mystery box, and was surprised at the quality. A very understable, but glidey disc. I throw it with a fan grip on hyzer to get a full flight path out of it, for if you give it too much speed it can only be used as a roller. If you keep it in the air, it has amazing glide and shapes shots excellently

I tried out the Helios to see how it would work for newer players, and I thought it was great. The combination of lighter weights, softer plastics, and the understable disc mold made this disc super easy to throw. It had a good flight, and I can see it being a great straight-flyer for beginner arm speeds. Would definitely recommend for somebody looking to get into the sport!

The Helios is quite understable, easy to throw and fun to play with. As an intermediate player this is more of a roller than a driver. It is super flippy. Throwing this disc nice and easy results in some pretty good distance (considering how hard I throw it), I would get around 200 feet. Granted to get this distance I would have to throw it on a steep hyzer-flip angle. I'd imagine that this disc would work phenomenally for a beginner.

The Helios that I played with was 150 grams, so definitely lighter than I usually throw, but I couldn't find any heavier at the moment. I enjoyed throwing it around, but admittedly turned it into a roller a couple of times. It is definitely an understable disc designed for beginners and slower arms. Once I figured that out, I started throwing it very lightly with great results, getting nice flip-up drives and turns to the right (throwing right hand backhand). I would highly recommend a Helios as a starter driver for new players or youngsters who want a very forgiving disc that avoids premature fading.

The Helios is an excellent understable fairway driver, maybe too understable for some, but perfect for beginner to intermediate players. I dialed it back a little bit and found that it held an understable line for the entire flight, it was great for anheizer upshots.

For the price, this plastic is pretty great. It's a base plastic, so it won't last forever- but it's perfect for beginners who want to get some more distance. Overall, the perfect disc for beginners.

The Helios is the perfect beginner driver.

It is a low speed, thin rimmed, light weight, understable driver with excellent glide. With enough power this disc will finish mostly straight with very little end of flight fade. In terms of flight and feel, the Helios is pretty similar to the Innova Leopard, which is the number one driver used in disc golf sets.

New players will find that they can get more distance out of the Helios than they can get out of most disc golf drivers. I'm able to push the Helios out beyond 300 feet of distance with a niche high hyzer flip throw. Most expereinced players will find this disc too flippy for experienced players, but by using my gentle "Ultimate Frisbee" style throw this one is a smooth glidey flyer that provides easy distance.

The Helios is currently only available in XCom's budget plastic. Not only is this plastic blend very affordable, but it also has a great fell and is moderately durable (for a base plastic). After several rounds of disc golf on a rough wooded course, my Helios only has very minimal wear and looks like it could go on for many more disc golf rounds.

Overall, if you're looking for a great starter driver at the lowest possible price, consider the X-Com discs Helios.
