The Yikun Wings is a unique golf disc that serves as sort of a midrange and putter hybrid. This utility wedge is designed to provide accurate upshots, without overshooting the basket. The Wings is a low-cost disc available in Yikun’s inexpensive Tiger-Line plastic. For a midrange, the Wings has a very thin profile and rim. It has a slightly overstable flight path and provides a unique throwing experience. The Wings is very similar to the Discmania Spring Ox.

I did field testing with this comparing against some similar discs, and I think the flight numbers are about right for me: The ones I have with the most similar flight number listings are the Alpaca and the Axe. The Wings gives me a pretty straight overall flight, with clearly better distance than both of the aforementioned discs, with a bit more fade than the Alpaca but much less than the Axe (I'd actually put the Axe at a 3 fade). I've mentioned in several other Yikun reviews, that I love their Phoenix plastic for its durability, feel and release; unfortunately this disc came in their Tiger plastic, which doesn't hold up as well, getting dinged up and less stable fairly easily (and that's been with putters that aren't subjected to the harshness that faster, farther-flying discs usually are). The disc has a good grippy feel, though, and the bright white plastic makes it easy to spot. I think a beginner will do fairly well with this, though they may lean toward a more understable mid; they might like this more as putter. The disc feels good and flies really well as it's designed; I would just recommend one of the more durable plastics.

I will start by saying I have not been playing disc golf long but I am playing a lot now (about 5 times a week). I absolutely love the Wings. It is a very versatile disc. I use it off the tee for shorter holes and for upshots but if at lunch I play a one disc round the Wings is my go to disc. It is so easy to send basically dead straight down a narrow fairway and makes a great disc in between my putters and my mids. I could also see it being a great disc for someone who want a mid like putter because it could very easily be used for that. To me the only let down is how quickly the disc shows wear. The Tiger line plastic doesn't seem to beat in any quicker then any baseline plastic I have used but it certainly shows scratches and scars a lot faster. I recommend this disc to anyone looking for a straight low speed mid with a little fade at the end or someone looking for a mid like putter. It really is a fantastic disc and one I don't think will be coming out of the bag soon.

The Wings is a great flying approach disc. It has a low profile and flat top that provides for a very accurate release on both backhand and forehand throws. When I drove with it, this disc flew very straight for me, and had very little fade. It is a slow flyer, and is probably more similar to the Innova Wedge than any other disc currently on the market.

The Tiger Line plastic feels great. It's soft and very grippy, perfect for cold weather rounds. It's not the most durable blend though, so you'll probably want to use a different plastic blend if you're regularily throwing this disc in the woods.
