I've only had basic discs up until this point and I didn't look at developing my grip. This disc has been noticeably more consistent than other discs, even with my bad grip. I think its been a good choice for a first disc after basic discs.

This disc is very good to throw in my opinion. The flight ratings are consistent and accurate except for the fade I would say it fades a bit harder than rated. Although I do enjoy the feel and the way this handles, and I also enjoy how whenever I use it... Although I may throw 10 or 20 feet past the basket, it's normally right in line with it if not very close. And because of that, I really enjoy throwing this disc on holes that are 250ft-300ft. It holds up well I really love axiom's hard plastic around the rims it's a very protective layer and it feels good and it also stops the disc in its tracks when It hit the chains.  Overall great desk except for the fact that I feel in my opinion, it fades a bit harder than the flight rating describes.

Axioms straight midrange. Flat top, plastic is pretty nice. Firm and semi grip. I have a Neutron 174. I think this is a solid disc, maybe not much more distance then a Proxy though which I really like and carry in the bag sometimes. This disc sits in my practice stash. Nothing wrong with it I just like other discs better.

Before I talk you out of getting the Alias (which I definitely am not trying to do) let me explain that I am weird with my Mid Range game. See, I have never liked throwing Mid ranges... I prefer putters off the tee, but in the past half of a year, I have been adding Mids to my bag to try and fill some spots that I was missing. For my Mid line-up, I want 4 different things...

    1. Something that I don't have to force over to turn over.

    2. Something that I can force to turn but flies and finishes straight.

    3. Something that will fly straight with some fade.

    4. Something really overstable that I don't have to worry about ever turning over.

By filling all these spots, I feel like I have every approach shot I need on the course when matched with my throwing putters. With this being said, the Alias just doesn't fill any of these slots for me. As an Intermediate player, the Alias kind of fits right between 1 and 2 on this list. It's not vastly understable and it also doesn't fly dead straight. As I said earlier, it's not a bad disc, it just doesn't fill a spot in my game. If you are looking for something Understable but not stupid flippy, then grab an Alias for sure.

One of those discs great for shot shapping. With Medium power it will hold a dead straight line, power up and it can hold an anny without turning and burning. Great woods disc.

The Alias is the more stable of the two midrange options from Axiom discs, but it is still not a stable workhorse midrange. There is a bit of added stability with the Alias, but it was still not great in the wind, and when really powered up. It does really hold the line you put it it on, and can be a very versatile midrange, but for me, I want my staple midrange to have a bit more stability. Overall, the Alias is a nice disc, just not for my bag.

This is my go to midrange. it throws super strait with the right arm speed and basically goes where ever you tell it to. I always tell people its basically a putter you can throw faster and further. A great disc for beginners. great for technical courses.

**UPDATE** I wanted to update as with many discs I try and review I no longer bag.  The Alias is not one of those.  It has been in my bag since the first one I purchased.  It is still one of my most used discs.  A couple aces with it later, the same 1st one is in my bag and its still not necessarily 'flippy'  This disc is a true straight flyer.  The most beat one Will allow for nice turnovers but it doesn't really hyzerflip to turnover, it still goes where you aim.  New alias still nice and straight even with power.  This is one of those discs I think you need to throw to believe.  It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO straight.

For me this disc flies like a Buzzz with no fade.  I have a couple Alias' and a few Buzzes.  Sometimes the Alias show better High Speed Stability than the buzzz but with less fade.  It is a very straight disc.  If throw properly it will fly dead straight with barely any fade.  Great for tunnel shots!  I would say its a tick slower than a buzzz, with maybe a little more glide.

If I rate a buzzz 5/4/0/1  the Alias would be 4.5/4.5/0/0.5   - I thought this disc might be more of a turnover disc, but its not, its a workhorse straight mid.  It can handle power especially if you like to throw with a slight hyzer release (does NOT need a dramatic hyzer angle).

If you want to try the Alias, do it, its a good disc.  I find myself using it more than the buzzz because its straighter and doesn't quite go AS far.   Great for placement mid shots.

I am giving this review from my own prespective. I am a beginner player and I can throw my mids around 210 feet consistently. I have a 175g Alias in purple neutron plastic.

    Pros:

    • Very straight
    • Can shot shape. Will go left or right if you release on the right angle.
    • Susceptable to poor form and punishes you for throwing improperly. I count this as a pro and a con. The reason this is a pro is becasue it teaches beginning players like me to throw properly and helps eliminate off axis torque.
    • Can still be thrown in headwinds if you add hyzer to the release.
    • Generally Axiom discs look great ( however my purple one isn't too cool ).  I have seen some other colors of alias in the disc golf store and they're awesome.

    Cons:

    • The purple color is not very vibrant or deep and I don't like it.
    • Susceptable to poor form and can easily 'turn and burn' if thrown incorrectly
    • Pretty slow for a mid. Doesn't go much further than my MVP Ion.
    • Pretty average glide. I usually have to put a lot of air under this disc to make it fly further.

I got tired of hunting for my beloved champ coyote (somewhat clear) in various types of fairways and roughs and wanted a replacement with good visibility and similar statistics, I decided to try the Alias.  I'm a big fan of MVP/Axiom and their overmolds. Based on a few months of use, it has delivered similar, predictable flights and handles the big sweeping hyzers that I used the 'Yote for.  It's a little more touchy on the power but has more glide. I've found it will hold th eline on a short anny approach shot as well.  It's not quite as comfortable in the hand as the Coyote, but overall, I've been pleased with it. It's a nice compliment to the Theory I'm bagging as well.

Alias is my workhorse Mid. It will hold any line with very little fade. The forward finish is evident with this disc. I would agree with the comparison to the Claymore, just a tad shorter.

I love the Neutron Axiom Alias. I have two.  One is this exact disc and size of this one and the other is 175 gram and white. It does exactly what it says it will. It gives a small left turn towards the end. I have a weak arm, but my wife is a power thrower and her Alias does what mine does except hers tends to be slightly more reliable. Probably because she throws harder.  My only complaint is that harsh wind makes these Axiom discs fight.  I have a Theory too that I use more than my Alias because I'm better with understable discs. However, the wind does the same thing. It pulled the discs back and keeps them from reaching length potential. Maybe it's to do with my wife and I not being a pro in disc golf but keep that in mind.

My 175g neutron Alias flys about like the flight ratings indicate. It's a stable flyer with a slow but consistent gradual fade. If I'd change anything in the flight ratings I might drop the glide level a notch as this disc doesn't seem to be a big glider. I wouldn't say the Axiom Alias is anything extra ordinarily special, or any better than any other stable mids on the market, but it's a good one. If I had to use this as my only mid, I'd feel confident I could consistently have good rounds of disc golf. Personally, I don't love the feel of Neutron plastic, but it's not a bad feel either. If you are looking for stylish stable midrange, you might as well find your favorite color combination and pick out an Alias.
