    169 Misprint Neutron RHBH

Let me start by saying I am mainly an Innova guy. When I started to get into the sport they were the only ones carried (with decent selection) where I live. Maybe the occasional Discraft or Dynamic, but that was about it. After getting into the sport more I decided to branch out and I ordered a Clash in Neutron plastic for a few reasons.

I like the flight of my Wraith, but being an 11 Speed disc, coupled with my inexperience, does not allow me to throw it on shorter fairways and achieve the flight pattern I like I get on longer flights. I also wanted to try an overmold disc to test out the durability I had heard so many good things about, and lastly I wanted a disc that was contrasting to my usual Innova DX disc. It just so happened that the Clash fit the bill well in all three of those and I ordered one in a misprint since it was the only one near the weight and color (high visibility) I wanted.

    Speed and Turn

I have a decent arm in terms of power and form. With every disc I own I can heave them out to around 75% of their reported flight distance, and also achieve the characteristics of those flight patterns as well. That said, and coupled with my general knowledge, this disc is faster than the stated 7 by Axiom. I have to throw it not unlike my DX Valkyrie (172g) to get proper spin in order for it to even start to give a hint of Turn, and even then it is not much. I should also mention that I have to nail a good form to attain any resemblance of the purported flight pattern, and I must have fairly quick and strong arm speed as well or this disc will fly out around 250' and then fade hard left (RHBH) and generally tombstone into the ground. When I garner the right form and speed, I can yoke this disc out around 300' fairly easily, without a great deal of power and without the huge dump fade either. Now, though this is said about all discs in general, this disc is more so than others I have thrown, and not a bad thing either.

    Glide and Fade

Let me say that this disc has good glide out of the hand to the end of flight when thrown flat without gaining much height. It will fight a headwind that is not too strong, again, if you throw it flat. Any raise of the nose in a decent headwind and up it goes, bouncing even, off the current. This will play havoc on your accuracy, obviously. What is most surprising to me is the way Fade comes in on the disc, however. Until you get it out around 275' - 300' you will see greater Fade than stated in my opinion, even by comparison of an under thrown disc. Yet, once you begin to throw the disc flatter and reaching that 300' mark, the Fade becomes less and less until it is almost spot on with my Wraith.

    Overall

This disc is different from my usual DX Innova in the way in which I grip it and in the way in which I release it as well. It is not very forgiving of a few degrees of difference within throws and will show your fault quickly.  I also firmly believe that it is not a 7 Speed, but more like an 8, much closer to my Valkyrie than I expected. The overmold is actually quite durable and more so than I expected. I have hit trees on drives sounding like a gun going off, changing the parting line significantly on a DX, but not this disc. This disc will last without a doubt. To get any Turn you have to throw it right, which is a reoccurring theme here, and there is not much then. If more comes out when I get it to farther distances I will update this review. The Fade is a bit more, even when thrown properly, but not a bad thing to be honest. On hitting the ground it will skip a bit and add some distance to your shot. if you need it, and play for it, you will be greatly rewarded with the result.

The main thing for this disc is that you have to adjust your throwing style if you are generally used to discs like that of Innova. The rim is a bit different as it feels thinner and not as tall in my hand, and the top is not real domed and rather flat, which I like. It feels good in the hand and has a smooth release, even in an errant throw actually. Yet, the main thing is that for me this disc helped with my form for higher speed discs, and as a result I can throw my bigger discs farther now as a result, and farther consistently as well. My only true issue with this disc is that anything under 250' for me is not where I would choose the Clash, unless I wanted to throw a short hyzer (RHBH) to the pin. Otherwise, think slower and shorter Wraith. Thanks to this disc I will have a few more Axiom, and MVP, discs as options in the future, for sure.
