I live at 5,600' and often throw courses up to 10,000'. At altitude things are a lot more overstable as a general rule. Even so, this disc is great for hyzer flips in a tailwind. With my arm speed, I can get this out to around 400ft and at that power the disc hyzer flips (my preferred method of throwing) and still turns. I would imagine it would be a stricly roller disc for me at sea level. I've recommended this disc a lot to newer players and it's one of their favorite discs alongside the Insanity, which they normally graduate up to after using this disc for awhile. I have one in the bag as sort of a utility disc these days and would compare it pretty similarly to the flight of a Discraft Heat, however I like the handfeel of this disc better.

One of my favorite discs, after LOTS of trial and error.  As a newbie, I found the virus to be a little tempermental - but moreso because my arm speed, *snap*, and release angle were so inconsistent. However, this infectious little disc is now my go-to for many narrow fairways and shaped shots. I'm a RH backhand thrower.  If I throw it on a slight hyzer with good spin, it will give a big predictable turn with a forward fade. Thrown level with less speed, it will fly pretty straight, with just a little bit of turn. The rim is narrow and just feels very comfortable in my hand.

For a while I left Virus in the bag, because it was (well, I really mean "I was") too unpredictable. Now I love it.

As a brand new player I'm in love with this disc. Enough so that I went into a nasty pond to get it back and then bought a second one to have a back up. Its super easy to flip. I've only been playing DG for about a month and the first time I threw this disc was a forehand hyzer and it flipped up perfectly and soared. That was my first hyzer flip. It was incredible to see a disc that I threw do what I wanted it to so easily.

My favorite driver I've used as a beginner! It feels really comfortable to hold and has beecome my go-to disk to throw off the tee. I'm able to get a slight turn out of it and get my best consistant distance of anything I've experimented with so far.

The virus has been an incredible addition to my bag. From stand up forehand and backhand shots that just stay straight forever, to clean turnover shots that bend beautifully throughout the course. This disc is perfect for everyone! For people with slower arm speed, you can expect a reliably straight shot with a bit of fade. Definitely pick one of these up!

My favorite hyzer-flip disc. You can expect a steady turn and slight fade at the end with middle of the spectrum arm speed. If you have high arm speed this is probably too flippy. But for the speed and turn I think this is a great disc for beginners looking for a bit more reliable distance, especially on somewhat open shots as the angle can be somewhat unpredictable until you get used to it.

I personally do not care for the Virus. It was very unpredictable for me. Sometimes it would flip up and ride, but others it would turn and burn. Even when paying very close attention to my form it would just be unpredictable. Hand feel isn't the best either. At least on the one I received. I had very random sharp edges along the rim so I may have gotten an odd one so your mileage may vary. I can see where it could be a good understable option for those moving up the speed list, but just not one for me personally.

I found this disc at my local bike shop and decided to try it out (because it looked awesome). In the first month or two of throwing it, I was unable to find a clear spot for it in my game.  It has an amazing hand feel, flies as promised (mostly), and is available.  Perhaps due to the specific disc I purchased, it seems considerably less flippy than I'd hoped, but when I really torque on it, I can get to what I expect from a -3 turn, but I am unable to justify the full 3.5.  All in all, I highly recommend this disc and even if you don't think you'll like it, give it a shot!

I got the Virus in Special Edition Neutron. 1st throw went straight. Next throw I torqued down on the disc and got the best turn for a long range flight. This disc is flippy and will turn, so minding your angles and torque is important. I loved the SE Virus so much I ordered 2 more, 172 grams, to keep just in case I lost it. The amount of turn on this disc makes 275 easy on 75% but that same turn will bite hard on windy days. I'm glad they started pumping these out again, for a hot minute they were hard to come by.

Found this disc in a creek and have kept on my bag ever since! The neutron plastic is tough and the rim has a great feel. Super straight flight with such little fade at the end. I would recommend this disc for any arm speed. Simple disc simple review.

I have the Virus in Neutron plastic at 175 grams. I am 65 years old and totally have what you would call a noodle arm. I get about 250 feet reliably with the Virus and the disc performs a mild S flight with the end result being a nice straight line to my goal. For beginners and players without powerful arms this is an absolutely fantastic disc!

I absolutely *love* my Virus. I've been playing a year and four months and I've got a bit of a noodle arm so I'd still classify myself as a beginner. That said its been difficult for me to get 9 speed drivers up to speed. That is until I got my hands on a 158g Virus. From a standstill throw this thing just goooooes. I highly recommend this disc to any new players who are looking for an easy to throw driver. I expect that as I get more arm speed it will likely turn over too much for me, but in the meantime its my go-to. Just get one and you'll see!

The Virus has a permanent place in my bag for long throws that need a dependable hyzer flip. You'll want to throw this one fast to get the most out of it.

If I hit my angle I know exactly what this disc will do and I don't ever worry about it doing something else. The Virus is great for those long throws that need to finish right. It doesn't fight out until the very end, and depending on nose angle you can easily get it to never fight back at all.

This might be a good driver disc for people trying to get to 300' because of how easy it is to flip. The amount of feedback this disc gives also makes it a good one for people working on their hyzer flip throws.

My favorite shot with the Virus is when it needs to go straight for a while, then turn a bit right for a little while, straighten out, then come back to the original line.

There are some technical tree courses in my area and the Virus works beautifully on a couple holes where the big hyzer flip gives it a long straight flight before it starts turning right for a while before fading out. It's not a huge fade out, but it's not a real small one either which suites these holes.

Kayak Point in WA has three holes where the Virus is my only disc that will do the job right, and I won my bracket yesterday at a weekend tournament because the Virus gave me solo birdies on two holes (missed a putt for three solo birdies...)

Great disc if you're looking for that dependable, slow and exaggerated hyzer flip.

My Virus is a 151g Neutron and my max distance is only around 280 feet. For me it's fairly understable but not too much, so with a hard throw I get super straight shots with not too much fade. If I force it over I can get fabulous "S" curves that give me my best distance. The Neutron plastic has excellent grip and the flat profile of the Virus feels great in your hand. I find the "Gyro" tech rim requires a little more spin than regular discs to get the most out of the disc. Definitely one of my favorite discs! Sadly it looks like Axiom are no longer making them in the 150 to 154g weight range. I don't understand why, because every time I see discs available close to 150g they are gone in no time.

For someone who is moving up and grabbing a driver (especially with a weaker arm), this is a great place to start. Thanks to the higher unstable rating and higher glide rating, you will get more distance from this disc than other similar speed drivers. I don't see the same "crash" I do with unstable, and to a degree it can be used for forehand shots. Persoanlly, I found the fade a bit higher than 1, but that might be due to throwing more into a wind than with it during field work.

The Virus is an understable control driver from Axiom Discs. This is understable for sure, but not too flippy. It holds up to some decent power, but not a good wind disc. In hand it was extremely comfortable and flat. I do think that its lack of dome contributes to less glide. I would compare the flight of the Virus to something between a Roadrunner and a Sidewinder. It for sure has a purpose, but it doesn't fit into my bag.

this disc has quickly became my go to for many situations. It’s very predictable flight that you can really get some distance out of. I am able to push this to about 300’ and don’t have the strongest throw. I can put it on an anhyzer and get a nice “S” flight out of it with it finishing back left.

One of my first axiom/mvp discs that I ever bought, and for full disclosure I bought it initially due to the name, colors, and stamp that the disc had. I had the disc for a few months and it never really grew on me, I already had the Mamba in my bag as my super US distance driver and I also think that the glide on the Mamba is a little bit better. However, this is still a really solid driver, I don't think it's quite as US as the numbers suggest but it is for sure an US driver. Beginners will be able to get some nice S-shaped shots out of it, and more experienced players could get some good use out of this disc for turnovers, hyzer flips or rollers.

As a whole I enjoyed the virus, but not enough to knock out other discs from my bag. I now have a Renegade in this slot and earlier on I had a Mamba both those discs had a better feel in my hand then the virus did. If you are looking to get an US driver from MVP/Axiom i would probably recommend the inertia before I recommend the virus but that doesn't mean that the virus isn't a great disc.

This is a great disc for distance and to shape shots with.  It's understable while still being controllable.  I hyzer flip the Virus for good distance but my most used shot with this disc is around  dogleg right right where I throw it on an anny to get it around the corner, it flips to flat and coasts.  Good all around driver and would be great for beginners learning how to drive.

    A Great Starter Driver

Got to toss one of these bad boys after a tournament this weekend. It is pretty understable...I would say even more understable as advertised, as I was throwing at high elevation and it flew just a tad more understable than the flight chart shows.

Given a nice hyzer angle and a 75% throw, the Virus took off, flipped to flat and cruised. It held high, glidey anhyzers. When I attempted a forehand though, it turned into a high speed roller. Whoops.

This is a great disc for people just starting out disc golfing, but who have some degree of disc control and understanding of disc mechanics.

Bought this disc when I was starting out, but I've outgrown the need to milk distance with under stable discs. Even with a hyzer release this disc turns over too fast for me now but it is still a good beginner disc for those starting out. Reminds me of a slightly faster roadrunner.

I used the Virus in a tournament today. I was able to get a hyzer flip that went great. I also through it flat and it did just want I wanted - straight out and started turning right around the corner - faded at the end - should have thrown a little harder. I have an 'old guys arm' a noodle arm but still got a throw over 300'. My Virus is 156 gms. I'm liking it.

My 169g Virus is definitely the most understable of the MVP/Axiom drivers that I've thrown. I am able to push this disc past 300 feet fairly easy with backhand drives, and even on throws where I throw a little bit to high, the understableness of it help it fight it out for some pretty good distance. I'm even able to Hyzer Flip this disc sometimes, which I can't usually do at Utah altitude with Gyro discs. Unless my throw is really soft at a big hyzer angle, this disc is un-flickable for me. It just turns right over and dumps into the ground for my sidearm relase.

As long as I just go for a nice smooth throw the Virus travels straight with a very mild fading finish. When I try and throw the Virus too hard, or release it on an Anhyzer line it holds that line and fights to the right all the way to the end of the flight (which usually isn't very far for me). If you're looking for a more understable Inertia right out of the box, the Virus is it.
