The FD is truly one of the great straight-flying fairway drivers. This disc is perfect for straight line shots through low ceiling tree lines. As an accurate, smooth flying disc, the FD is a winner for beginners and pros. While the FD isn’t the fastest flying fairway driver, it does offer excellent glide, allowing it to rival your furthest flying distance drivers.

The Discmania made and Innova made FDs feel and fly similar, if not identical. When adding a review, feel free to comment your opinions on how they differ!

The FD is an interesting mold that can fill multiple slots in your bag. However, the new C-Line Glow ones are relatively overstable, though the numbers are pretty close. Basically, it's a glidey Teebird. This is not a flip-up and drift right fairway like an old S Line FD might be, unless maybe you have pro level arm speed. New players will find a reliably overstable fairway while more advanced players will find this a laser beam with a nice finish. For me, throwing about 400 max distance, it's a nice complement to the Axiom Crave.

The perfect fairway driver. Surprised more copycats have not been molded.

I would argue that the flight numbers don't tell the full story. At a 7 speed, this disc will go dead straight and have a touch more fade than expected. It can handle a lot of torque before you see that -1 turn. Maybe one of the most forgiving discs for under/over speeding.

Despite the low speed and straight stability, this wouldn't be my first recommendation to a new player. Start them out on a Leopard, Zombee or Essence (Essence being the best choice here imo) and add the FD later when some of the form issues have been worked out. This just won't get the turn like the numbers suggest until you get some real good power and snap on it. However, that does make it excellent in the Intermediate player's bag, who can trust it to stay pretty straight and glide for days, even when you put a little too much on it.

I have 4 different FD's. Nightstrike 2 and 3, Swirly S-Line Jackyl, and Luster C-Line. They all fly different. Some are pretty straight, some are super overstable. Either way, if you find the right one, they are great. C-Line Luster is my most straight, and S-Line Jackyl my most overstable. Definitely worth trying out.

There is a plethora of fairway drivers out there and I have tried many of them.  I picked up the FD after throwing a friends on a drive just for fun.  It flew like I had imagined.  I am a fan of the F5, TL, XL, Zombee, Impact and other straight flying fairway drivers so I decided to pick one up.  The FD I have is 175g C-GLOW.  it feels perfect, very comfortable, and plastic wise is great as I am a fan of Champion glow plastics, especially in fairway drivers (not so much for max D drivers).  I was hoping the disc wasn't going to be understable, I wanted a nice straight flying disc.  I was pleasantly surpirsed that this disc flew very true to the #'s.  I would agree it flew 7/6/-1/1.  Its a straight flying comfortable fairway disc that is very versatile.  I would not recommend it for any headwinds unless you plan on the disc turning a little bit.  It was GREAT for wooded shots, smooth lines through the trees.  Excellent for slightly uphill straight shots as the disc does/can bend over understable a little bit, but not necessarily an understable disc.  It can be finessed to do a whole lot.  I found it to be very similar to my early proto F5.  The FD is a great disc.  I hear that some plastics and weights can be more underrstable so be aware.  But for the one I got.  It helped me park 3 holes and get 2 other birdies.  Its a nice fairway disc.

*Update: I threw this on hole 4 at Blue Ribbon Pines (with Ray J the owner on my card) I was able to get a perfectly straight sliiiiight S a good haul down the fairway without one tree touch, not even close....it was a laser.  If you know that hole, its a looooong straight shot. 444ft.  I threw an atom on my upshot and parked it for a tap in Birdie 3.  The FD is legit.  I really like the 175g C-Glow FD. its amazing. sorry TL and F5, but this one's staying.  Tl maybe better in wind, F5 is similar enough
