From the very beginning the MD Discmania had a very clear cut mission - to fill their straight to understable midrange slot and have the ultimate control midrange. The MD certainly fits the bill for both of those goals. By “ultimate control” they want the thrower to be able to control this disc to do any and every type of flight fresh off the shelf. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and then imagine all of the different shots you can accomplish with this midrange driver. The feel of this disc is great as well. It has a slight dome and a convex lower wing. It feels like it belongs in your hand and it's ready to tackle all of your midrange duties.

The Discmania MD isn't for everybody in terms of feel in the hand, but the flight certainly is.  I have a C-line and a Luster. The Luster has beat out the C-line for the spot in my bag, although they are very similar. Both have a bit of dome, but just the right amount. The Luster is just a bit more grippy and flexible. The rim is somewhat round, exactly like a Mako3, and I love it with a control grip.

This is truly a speed 4 disc, so if you overpower it, you will definitely see it turn over. It's great for a single disc round to work on your form. It's great for hyzer-flip tunnel shots or slow turnovers. I don't usually power down on it; I'll just reach for my putter in that situation.

One thing I discovered late this season is how much I like this as a utility forehand disc. If I need to scramble out of the rough, but don't have the space for a backhand, this disc is amazing for turnover forehands. If I need to hook hard left around a corner (RHFH) I will even start on an anhyzer and let it ride that all the way to the ground. These are really touchy shots, but after some practice it has definitely saved me a few strokes.

The Same disc as the Mako3

I am fairly certain this disc is the exact same disc as the Innova Mako3, but with a slightly smaller diameter. That being said, I love this disc just like I love the Mako3!

The MD flies straight from start to finish. Even as a beginner, as long as you keep decent form, this disc will land flat no matter how light you throw it. At the same time, it definitely can handle some heavy power from a more experienced thrower. I could not recommend this disc enough to anyone who needs a neutral midrange.

I love this disc. It is a true straight flyer just like the numbers. Also the luster plastic is gorgeous. It holds lines well and is easy for beginners to throw. This disc made my bag after only a couple of tosses. If you are on the fence about this disc I would totally recommend it.

Disc:  Discmania Luster C-Line Special Release MD - 180 gram

Look & Feel: The Blue Luster C-Line plastic is very nice looking with a kind of hazy swirl, but the real benefit is the added grip, softer feel and flexibility over standard C-Line. The beadless bottom edge of the rim is a bit sharp but may smooth with more use. Overall pretty comfortable in the hand with a taller height & rim depth and a very slight dome.

Flight: I was able to get a variety of neutral flight paths out of the MD depending on power level and angle of release. As a speed 4 mid range, the MD can be powered up to get a bit more turn on a flat release and the low speed flight will produce a slight fade if it gets to that point of the flight. Adding a small bit of hyzer angle allows the MD to get up to flat and glide along very straight flight path. Not really throwing this to maximize distance but I've ranged it out to 260'-290' on flat ground.

Impressions & Comparisons: I've been looking for a neutral straight mid range to hone in my release angles and so far the Luster C-Line MD has fulfilled that role. Easy to throw for all skill levels and can produce a variety of useful shots in an experienced players hands. Getting the finesse power level right is crucial to get the straight flights to match the flight numbers on the disc.

Both the Infinite Discs Chariot (Glow C-Blend) and Millennium Aurora MS (Standard) started out with more stability than the MD in Luster C-Line making them harder to produce all the flight paths I was looking for in a neutral straight mid range. Similar flight stability & feel to the Mako3 but more controllable glide and a bit more fade.
