The Origin is a small diameter midrange with big potential. The nose has a smooth, rounded feel with a flat microbead on the bottom. The Origin is understable when thrown at high speeds, making it the perfect disc for long turnover shots, as well as precise gentle lines through the woods.

It thrives in tailwinds, wooded courses, and calm conditions at any course. This is the perfect complementary disc to the Essence.

I have a NEO Origin at 175 grams.

I am 68 yrs old and have been playing DG since 1978. At my age I no longer have great power, hower with a good fairway driver I can still get an accurate 300 ft shot.

The ORIGIN is the straightest most controlable disk I have ever thrown!

I can control the distance for aproach shots easily, and still drive this disc to 275 ft.

Gentle annies work well and giving it an angle & height I can also get a gentle hyzer.

I play a local course nearly every day and since putting the ORIGIN in my bag my score has improved on average by 2 strokes.

I would strongly recommend this disc for anyone who does not throw with the power of a pro.

Definitly not accurate to the numbers but has an amazing flight. Its easy to get this thing to turn over but not roll. If you throw it on hyzer it will flip-up and pick a suttle turnover line (at the right power), drifting slowly and using its imence glide to get some really good distance for a mid. Its also fairly shallow so its usefull for straight forehands. (-.5 stars for wrong numbers)

First of all the disc and the Neo plastic feel great in the hand. One of the most comfortable discs I've thrown. It's definitely a touch less stable than the numbers. I'd say it's pretty similar to a Detour but with more glide and actually replaced my Detour. It compliments my Hex perfectly. I was hitting trees left and right on a heavily wooded course and ended up throwing the Origin on every hole and found it easy to hit the gaps. Thrown smooth and medium effort it goes nice and straight. With more power and a little hyzer it will flip on and glide for days. It also holds turnovers all the way to the ground.

The origin has become my go to gap hitting/woods disc. Out of the box it is slightly understable and will have a slight finish. Once it starts beating in it'll develop more turn. The origin won't burn over on a turnover either, holding the line the entire time. The origin is also a great beginner midrange. For a beginner, it is a great straight disc and as they develop power and beat it in it'll flip up on hyzer.

Beginners will find great sucess with the origin as a straight flyer while more experienced players will find this is a great understable midrange.

The Neo Origin I used to throw was interesting. The numbers would suggest it fits that neutral, straight flyer. It is not that. It's more understable than you'd think. Great in the woods and can hyzer flip for days. I say it's "somewhat" beginner friendly due to the touch required to get it to fly correctly. Otherwise, it's going to turn and burn. If you hit it right, it will flip up and drift a bit before a very subtle fade at the end. My MA1 friends use it as their understable/woods mid range. It can be a very touchy disc, but very rewarding when figure it out.

Have two Neos.  The straightest flying disc in my bag.   Will almost always hit the tree I am aiming at.

More forgiving than the MD1 and I would recommned it for everyone.

I actually found this disc (no name/number) and it looked as good as new. It would go straight and far for me, then fade gently left (right hand, backhand),so very good for narrow fairways and long approach shots. As it has gotten a bit more beat in, it tends to veer right on me now, though still with a level flight -- not turning over and angling to the ground, so I just have to adjust my thinking for its use now. My wife uses this more than I do these days, however, as one of her two primary go-to discs. She's pretty much a forehand-only player, and it works very well for her (she doesn't have a lot of power; maybe 150 ft throws).

    Great for beginners!

Comfortable in the hand and easy for hyzer flips and turnover shots. Has a little dome and a wing similar to a Claymore. This is an US mid but if you power down it'll fly very straight. Did I mention the glide?

The plastic is essentially the Trilogy (VIP/Lucid/Opto).

This was too understable for me. I tried to use it as a turnover but it turned over way too fast. I guess its a bit too shallow and too understable and that makes it burn and turn. I had a couple of good throws with it but I cant be that smooth every throve.

I had a beat in Pro D Buzzz that should have been what this disc is, but it was just finicky, would fade when I didn't expect it to, wouldn't flip up to flat, or would flip and cut, just made me nervous every time I touched it. JB GT Buzz was better, but not this. Think it, it happens, whether flip up to straight, flip up late turn, smooth high anny all the way, low tunnel turn over. Only errors come when force popping it or pulling it into an obstacle when I don't trust it to turn enough and don't give it wide enough space to go around. I love how it pairs with my Method, they feel almost the same in my hand. I have a poison green Mystery Box version, though, perhaps it's a magic disc, I don't remember my pink factory 2nd being this good, but I don't remember anything bad about it either.

For someone with a slower arm like myself, it's been hard to find a midrange that I can get to keep going straight or get a pretty good turn on. Enter Origin. This has been a great straight flyer for me, giving practically no fade and just going straight until it hits the ground. It's also great for throwing a BH turnover without having to force a bunch of power through the disc. Absolutely love it!

This should be every new player's first disc. Less stable than a Buzzz, even a new player can learn to shape shots with this neutral flyer. Neo plastic feels grippy while still being durable.

I bag this disc mostly to get me around corners with a big anhyzer, and it still has the stability at the end to land flat and not cutroll. Probably the disc I learned how to hyzer flip with as well.

I have the Kyle Klein signature Meta Origin and it flies significantly more understable than the flight numbers would suggest. With power this disc requires a decently large hyzer angle to stay up without turning all the way over, but with control of power and angles this disc is money.

Perfect for maneuvering through the woods due to its high speed turn, the Origin enables controlled turnovers and effortless flight.  I would say this disc is very solid for beginners due to its understability and a powerful tool for experienced players with good angle control.

If you're expecting something akin to a Buzzz, you will be disappointed- As others have pointed out, it is not as stable as the flight ratings suggest.
Fortunately, I had a few friends who recommended the Origin. It's perfect for Hyzer flips, low power turnovers, and uphill throws. I'll occasionally use it on shorter holes in place of a putter, because you can flip it up from a standstill if you get the form and power right.  I've also found it useful for scrambling, typically on FH rollers that need some hang time before hitting the ground.
All in all, a great disc and midrange that never comes out of my bag. I have it in both Neo and Luxe plastic; both fly about the same, but the Luxe feels a little more comfortable.

First things first- this disc is not a -1 turn! I have a Discraft Meteor that is a 5 4 -3 1 and they fly almost identically. If you are looking for a dead straight midrange at over 250 feet of power then this is not the disc for you.

With that being said, this disc is an incredible turnover midrange. The two best characteristics of this disc are the feel and the glide. The disc feels better than any midrange I have ever felt, and the disc glides forever. It goes farther than any midrange I have ever thrown.

If you can get a consistent release angle and height to the disc it will work wonders for you as a hyzer flip or turnover disc. If you do not have a solid forehand then this disc will be invaluable for you.

This is by far my favorite midrange. I find it to be more flippy than numbers indicate though the fade is about right. This is the first disc I got an Ace with so I have a soft spot for it but either way the Neo Plastic feels wonderful, the mold for this disc is just perfect and I find myself reaching for it in so many situations.

Man oh man oh man is this disc a work horse. I have thrown it on 250' wood holes and then thrown it on open 560' par 4s to hit a specific landing zone. This disc is very predictable. Out of the box it is a straight thrower with a slight fade. However, once beat in it becomes flippy and very understable.

I would say this is less stable than a Buzzz and more like a Comet.

Throw this on a slight hyzer for a very straigh shot or flat to get a nice, quick turn that will glide out for days!!!

I bought the Origin after watching a few Discmania "In the Bag" videos and realizing that many of their top pros, such as Kyle Klein and Nate Perkins, bag one. When I realized that my local disc golf shop had some, I knew that I had to get one. They feel very good in the hand, and the Neo plastic feels phenomenal.

The flight numbers on the Origin are the same as a Buzzz. However, they fly very different for me. The Origin is very noticeably more understable. When thrown flat, the Origin will ride straight and have late turn on it. It has easily become my favorite woods midrange disc due to this. I can also throw it for hyzer-flip to flat shots when needed to compliment the turnover shot.

Overall, the Origin wasn't something that was on my radar to get a month ago, but once I threw it the first time, I knew that I was going to have to find a place for it in my bag.

I begrudgingly bought the Origin after liking the other Discmania Evolution discs in my bag and feeling like I needed to get the Origin to complement the overstable Method.

At first, I thought I was going to pull it. I wasn't using it much, and wasn't really sure what to use it for.

But then I played a tournament on a heavily wooded course with a lot of fairways that bend left to right.

I was relying on my forehand for a few rounds on that course, but then one day I decided to try the Origin. Its left to right pan was perfect for at least five of the holes. Hitting a hyzer flip dead straight was perfect for many of the others.

Buttery smooth right turns with no fade at the end unless you want it. Magic. And the glide on it ... [chef's kiss]. I was parking drives that simply weren't possible with the shape of a forehand.

It went from almost coming out of my bag to my most used disc on that course and tournament.

Once you learn to flip it up, or throw it with touch for the turn, it becomes deadly.

I've even long-putted with it a couple times because it's so glidey and straight that it'll float in without having to put a lot of mustard on it.

The plastic feels great. The rim feels great. And both Origins that I've owned flew exactly the same...very consistent.

Longer and less touchy than the Fuse, Mako3, Sol, and I like it better than the Meteor.

Also: they are readily available if you need another...important consideration these days.

If you are considering a Neo Origin, then just scroll up and click add to cart.

This disc is the best in its field and what it does and this is: flip up controlled woods shots and sweeping anhyzer get out of trouble forehands.

Flight: I find that this disc loves to flip a bit more than what the numbers suggest, so when throwing backhand, it needs to be thrown with a good amount of hyzer so that it stands up and holds that straight line. I have thrown this disc for about a year now, and it took a couple months to really learn how to utilize this disc to its maximum potential, and that was it's anhyzer forehand sweep. This disc feels incredible for forehands, and it's flight is incredible if you are stuck in the rough and need a right hand backhand finish without the room to through a backhand. I don't have to pull out this shot too often, but when I need it, I am confidently picking this out of my bag.

Feel: as mentioned, this thing feels great in the hand both backhand and especially forehand. The neo plastic is a great mix of durability and comfort ability and tackiness. Neo flies a bit more understable than other premium plastics, so they will fly very similar to it's flight numbers out of the box.

If you are looking for a somewhat flippy midrange to expose flaws in form or to hit tight gaps with less energy, this is an incredible disc. If you are looking for a flippy scramble disc, then this disc is the best in its category.

This disc was one of my first discs that I have owned. It was very helpful in developing my disc golf game. It is a bit like a leopard except less understable. It was quite stable at first for me, yet when I grew in to it, it started to be very understable. I still use it for short rollers and the odd high turn over shot.

I have a 177g Neo Origin and it's not quite what I was hoping for. For the positives, I love the Neo plastic because it's tacky and grippy but still good firmness, feels great. The rim is comfortable for power grip or fan grip, has a similar rim depth to a Buzzz, and also beadless. I tried out the Origin in looking for a solid understable mid, and I knew before testing it that it would be more understable than the numbers show, and that is what I experienced. I think the numbers are closer to 5/5/-2/1. I think the problem for me with this disc is that it seemed a little too touchy and the turn starts very early in the flight. I ended up replacing this with a Meteor which I've been super happy with, and in contrast the Meteor has a later turn. Maybe those with better control might have better luck with disc or maybe powered down a bit more.

This is my go-to midrange disc. I love the fact that it is a small diameter midrange because I don't like having to switch between different diameter discs in my bag. It feels odd to me.

I use this disc predominately for hyzer flip dead straight shots and for turnover shots. If I throw this hard and flat it will turn into a cut roller.

It is great to use this disc in the woods as you can power down and get a controlled flight out of it. I immediately liked this disc because it felt like a slower P-line FD to me and that complimented my game quite well.

I highly recommend this disc to all players and it is super beginner friendly.

New to disc golf and the Origin is a perfect midrange disc for me. Flies straight to understable with a gentle fade at the end on my harder throws, and flies straight through some tighter windows when given a softer touch. Would highly recommend to anyone getting into the sport like myself, or anyone looking for a neutral midrange in general. Does exactly what you'd expect when thrown correctly.

Definitely a nice straight to understable disc. The rim is a bit small in my hands, which throws me off compared to my MD. If you don't like the bulky feel of an MD, the origin should suit your needs! Very controllable and will hold every angle you put it on. A very good disc to practice your form with! Would recommend to anyone but myself because of the rim depth...

The Origin is a fantastic understable midrange for getting slow flip up turns. I use this disc for fairways that bend to the right and find the Origin to be ideal for most drifting right shots. It's definitely more understable than the flight numbers would suggest but any skill level can make use of this disc, especially beginners since it's so easy to throw. I've really enjoyed throwing Discmania's Evolution lineup, so I bought the Origin not long after it came out. I've had it in my bag for a couple of months now, and I have to say it's quite a bit more understable than I expected. I bought it thinking it would fly similar to the Buzzz, but it actually flies more like the Buzzz SS. I'd rate it closer to 5/5/-2.5/1. It's a great disc for turnover shots. Don't throw it with too much power or it will turn over and burn into the ground.

    Review for 172 Neo Origin

Love this disc. As a beginner, this is one of the easiest discs for me to throw. Love the feel of the disc and it is great for short precision shots to the basket as long as you pay attention to the very nice glide. Also really easy to throw 200 foot dead straight with very little fade. As others have mentioned, it does seem to be more understable than I anticipated out of the box. However, I was pleasently surprised by this as it is quite easy to throw a nice gradual turnover shot. But, add a little hyzer and release smooth without overpowering it and it throws straight and wonderful.

Overall, I can use this for a variety of approach shots as well as tee shots that need precision placement. It wasn't exactly what I thought it would be when I purchased it, but it has still exceeded my expectations.

Don't be fooled by the numbers on this disc it is really understable. It is great for turn over shot. Has a lot of glide. Its comparable to a sol, bounty and maybe even the patrol. Its flight is nothing like a buzzz. Its shallow so perfect for smaller hands and no bead. I can easily get this disc 320 ft. Its a really good beginner disc it being so understandable and slower speed a newer player could get a straight flight out of this disc. So if your looking for an understable mid this is the disc for you.

I've not found many shots for this disc that my other midranges aren't already covering but the ones I use it for, it is money.

Hey, did you notice it's more undetectable than it's rated? ?? This disc definitely benefits from either powering down on or releasing with some hyzer which can make it a little finicky but the reward for a good release is satisfying. It's got serious glide, especially after a few rounds of playing it in. It's easily my longest midrange. I can get this out past 300' with a good toss but again, the harder you throw it, the more hyzer it will need assuming you want it to straightish. I really like it for tunnel shots and long turnovers where the ceiling isn't too low.

I will definitely mirror everyone else and say this is much more understable than the numbers say. I didn't buy this disc to try and replace anything in my bag but just more as a trial run because I had never tried Discmania but I really enjoy L64. First off this plastic is straight MONEY. I used this disc for a couple rounds and immediately ordered two more of it's Neo brothers. It is gummy yet feels like it will be very sustainable. After smacking a tree I picked it up and expected a nice gouge or scrape but saw nothing.Any disc that can hold up to me in the woods is a plus in my book. It also flies like a dream after you realize the amount of turn it's going to give you. It will not be subtle but you also won't be able to flip it to a roller very easily. Like I said this disc didn't replace anything in my bag but it for sure has a permanent spot for the foreseeable future.

The origin is a disc that simply put GOES FAR. VERY FAR, for a mid range. It has enough glide to carry far further than you need it to. It finishes super straight and can be flipped if you want to. I use this primarily for forehand flip up shots. Its a whole lot of fun to throw and can be a bit difficult to control in completely novice hands. This replaced my lat 64 claymore and only gets used when I need that forehand flip up or a long slow backhand turnover .

First off, the Neo plastic is amazing! It's gorgeous with some opaque swirls but also feels really good in the hand. The Origin itself feels a little more shallow than some mids, closer to the feel of a Buzzz as opposed to something taller like a Roc3 or Mako3. Personally the rim feels too small in my hand, but it would work fine and it'd be a great fit for anyone with smaller hands. As for the flight, the Origin has lots of glide and will fly very straight if started out on hyzer.

I recently added a Primal Run Neo Origin to the bag after losing my Buzzz SS and I've been loving it. The Origin feels really good good in the hand, and the Neo plastic makes it feel even better. The glide is also really good, as it goes almost as far as my fairway drivers if thrown right. I would say it has a bit more turn than advertised, which makes it the perfect turnover mid. For a beginner, this would be a great starter mid range.

I will start off by saying that this disc is a bit more under stable than anticipated, right out of the box. That being said, it immediately replaced my bounty in my bag. One thing I look for in a mid is predictably, and this disc fits the mold. It's great for powered down tunnel shots as well as higher powered slow turnovers. When thrown at 50-60%, it will ride nearly dead-straight with a very subtle "s" curve. When powered up, it will hold a slow turn to the ground. I've found this disc to be particularly useful for throwing uphill. Also when you need a higher-power high turnover shot. It's a very workable disc for anyone with an intermediate arm speed. The under stability and glide allows for adequate distance when focusing on hitting tight gaps.

Like others have mentioned, this is more understable than suggested. I still bag it because I love throwing turnover shots and this disc is perfect for that. Neo plastic is my favorite plastic yet, and it seems to add a bunch of glide to the discs its in. All in all I think this is a great compliment disc to the Method. With both of those bagged, I would just need an MD5 to complete the midrange slots in my bag

Flies like a buzzz SS or a mako3 almost identically. Extremely glide, this disc slow, consistent turn for intermediate and advanced players with a small hyzer finish at the end of the flight. Beginner players will experience a very straight flight with a moderate finish. This disc glides for days and days, sometimes further than you need it to. Neo plastic beats in surprisingly quickly and you'll have a hyzer-flip mid ready to go after some wear and tear. I liked the small rim and the narrow diameter of the disc. Feels easy to control and Neo plastic is incredible as always.

I like this disc but I'm still not sure it has a spot in my bag yet, that is yet to be determined. I still like my Buzz over this disc mainly because even though the flight numbers are identical, the Origin is more touchy when it comes to turn. I would say that the origin is stuck somewhere between a Discraft Buzzz and an Innova Mako3, both of which are in my bag. Overall I do really like the flight of this disc and the feel of the mold/plastic is awesome. To be honest I really wanted it to replace my Buzzz because I'm enjoying Discmainia's new line so much. I would highly recommend this disc to anyone to try.

Holds whatever line you put it on. Truly a multipurpose disc. The plastic feels great. No other mid needed really...

    More Understable Than the Numbers:

For some background, I'm an advanced player who throws mostly Innova and Discmania. This disc is incredibly understable! If you put any power on this disc it will flip no matter how much hyzer you give it out of your hand. In comparison I currently bag a Mako3, which is obviously an understable disc. The difference is night and day. The Mako3 holds the line you put it on, and doesn't fight out of it. The origin either flips to flat or flips over. On the bright side, tons of glide! If you need a disc to learn how to hyzer flip with control, this is perfect. If you need a disc that can handle some different shot shapes, this is not your disc.

All in all, it's not a bad disc just the numbers are inaccurate. The issue is that Discmania does a poor job with high speed turn numbers for their midranges. Almost every midrange in their lineup has a turn of 0 even though they fly very differently.

I just picked this up a week ago when this disc was released by Discmania. I had high expectations when reading the description because I love throwing the Essence and this disc is supposedly a slower version of it. Let me tell you I was not disappointed at all. I love this disc already and can tell you it is already my go to midrange. I bought it at 176 grams in the neo plastic (duh) and it surprises me more and more every time I throw it. When thrown on a hyzer, it will flip up and just ride straight and glide forever. The amount of glide on this disc is crazy. When thrown flat, it has a nice s-turn that finishes very straight from where it was thrown. Also, this disc holds an anhyzer or turn over line extremely well. It's truly miraculous. I have NEVER thrown a disc that hyzer flips like this straight out of the box. The harder you throw it, the more it flips up and rides and can even become an anhyzer shot while doing so. Also, the small rim of the disc gives it a fairway driver-esque feel that makes it incredibly easy to throw. I recommend anyone to give this disc a try, as it will not let you down at all. This is honestly the only mid range I need in my bag right now because it can do anything for me.

Brand new to the bag and am absolutely in love with it. I was looking for an alternate to my Truth something between that and my Star Manta. Boy was this the perfect fit. It's long glide means I can throw this on hyzer and push 300 with little effort, or laser it flat and watch the late turn kick in as it gently glides next to the pin. Would highly recommend this disc to anyone.

Throwing a Neo plastic at 4,400 ft in Utah. To me, 5 stars = incredible disc 4 stars = good & dependable disc. I don't give out too many 5 star ratings.

This is a pretty sweet midrange. I really enjoy this disc as it is an excellent compliment to my Buzz.

The numbers for this disc are pretty accurate, I to think it has a little less fade than the 1 suggests though. More like a .5. This reminded me a lot of DD's Evidence, which I loved as well.

The grip on it is comfortable, the plastic is durable, and it is easy to throw it how you would like. I was able to get some good hyzer flips, straight shots, straight finishing anhyzer shots, and anyzer shots. Overall a versatile disc, pretty enjoyable to throw. After throwing it a while, and hitting some things with it, the plastic showed how strong it is. It doesn't mark easily. This plastic reminds me of Trilogy's Opt/Lucid/VIP plastic. The rirp of this plastic is nice. It is a little slick with just the right amount of gumminess(?).

Overall, I like this disc a lot. I would definitely recommend this disc to any beginner. I think that there some better discs for the slightly understable midrange slot that are better than this though. As such, wouldn't recommend this disc to more advanced players.

Perfect Compliment to the Method.  I use the Method for all my flex and hyzer shots. This Primal Run Neo Origin is perfect to hold any straight line or anhyzer line you put it on. It has the perfect glide and speed combo. This thing is so smooth. It's like lotion in your hand.
