The Tactic is designed for tactical approach shots to the basket. It has a flat top and an overstable end fade. In Exo (soft and hard) plastic, it also has a good grip for precision placement. In premium blends like Meta and Vapor, it is more durable and will keep its flight characteristics longer.

Short Summary: Probably the best competitor to the zone.

Feel: The flat top feels easy to press into the palm and great to hold onto in a forehand grip. The depth may be a point of contention as it may be uncomfortable for smaller hands. The EXO Hard plastic lets the disc jump after landing since it will absolutely fade out enough to do so.

Flight: The flight is absolutely overstable. Compared to the zone, it has a more overstable flight, having less of that straight flight before fading out. Even in a standard headwind of 5-10 mph, this disc doesn't stand up and will fly the same as in calm wind.

The Tactic in exo hard is not much different than the soft. The flight is very stable (cuts pretty hard left on backhand). The plastic does feel nice and I would recommend this for someone wanting to learn sidearm mid throws.

Flies how you would think with the flight ratings. I would recommend it as the first overstable approach disc. Since it comes in mostly base plastic it will be slightly more straight, but beat in to be even straighter. You may still choose the discraft zone over it if you prefer a more shallow disc.

TLDR: Super flat, beadless midrange. Not quite as beefy as the numbers suggest, but still in my bag. Perfectly comparable to many other "4 speed putters". The only difference between this and a 4 speed mid is that this disc has the diameter of a putter. It flies similarly to my beefy champion rocs, but with less glide. I'd give it 5 stars if it matched the advertised flight path.

Feel: Very flat, fairly shallow (not too shallow), exo hard plastic is very tacky but very firm. Feels goof FH and BH. Very comparable to the westside anvil in the hand. For me it's a 10/10 on the feel.

Flight: The numbers are off on this one for me. It's certainly not a glidey disc, but it's not a 2. I think with the exo hard plastic, this was exaggerated after connecting with a tree and skipping off a paved path. It doesn't really fall out of the sky like a 2, it more nestles like a 3 glide. Same with the fade, it may have been a 3 at the start, but it's closer to a 2 now.

Unique feature: It hits the brakes. It'll be cruising along at regular 4 rated speed, and then all of the sudden it just drops. I love this about it because you can take a full swing without worrying too much about overshooting. The tactic hits the brakes just a bit harder than Zones, Harps, Pigs, etc.

If you think you'd like this disc- then you will. Quality and design is amazing.

The Tactic is my go-to approach disc. It feel great in my hand, like a slightly shallower Zone. It flies reliably forehand and backhand, and beats in to help facilitate great panning anhyzer approaches. My favorite approach putter!

I feel like I liked this disc for backhand but was not crazy about it for forehand. I wanted it to be a little beefier. However if you want a more stable putter that is less OS than a zone then I can recommend. It's a great disc just doesn't fit my preferences. I went with Innova Pig instead.

This is probably the best throwing putter I have. It is more of a midrange disc with the numbers, yet it is like a luna when thrown. I personally like the hard plastic as it is grippy and has less tork. It is good as a throwing putter, yet to overstable to be a putter.

One of my 2 over stable approach discs in my bag. Still trying to work it in but enjoying it so far. Digs the ground easy with the right amount of tackiness. Great addition forehand approaches and will always be a dependable disc.

I like it and I don't like it. It feels great and looks great. It seems like it would be a pretty good forehand disc and easy to backhand. I don't feel like the fade is 3. I would rate it as a 1.5. Its rather subtle and not an obvious fade like you would think. For the disc that you want this to be I prefer a zone or a r-pro pig. They fly and release better and hook up. So you just need to use it as a rather straight upshot disc and you're good.

I own the Tactic in Exo Hard plastic and it was my first discmania purchase.  I wanted to give the brand a try and figured a putter backed by Eagle Mcmahon was a good first choice.  I have enjoy throwing this disc mostly for approach shots because it has a reliable overstable flight that is similar to the zone but a lot milder.  I dont think the 3 fade is very accurate for this disc.  It finishes a lot softer than a zone would.  My only gripe with the disc so far has been its finish and durability.  Arguably you shouldn't be throwing these into trees or other obstacles, but this disc scratches and tarnishes extremely easily.  Just practice putting develops scars and nicks all over the disc.  This is cosmetic only and hasn't affected the flight of the disc but it's something people should know when buying it with any sort of darker color.

I love this disc. It WILL make your putting game worse because within 100 feet, IT finds the basket for me. I can either park or drain them 90 percent of the time inside that range. GREAT, CONSISTENT fight on the Tactic. The harder I throw it the straighter the flightpath. The plastic feels great even when a bit wet from morning dew. I have not found a better approach disc.

The tactic I got seems to be a little more overstable for me. Thrown it backhand and forehand and it always fades really hard on the hyzer angle even when throwing it a little anhyzer. I have a zone that is more stable but that could just be the plastic i have it in. Still seems like a decent disc.

Disc - 175 Exo Hard Tactic

Feel - the tactic is deeper than the zone or the harp and has no bead. When the exo plastics beat in they can become warped and feel a bit awkward in the hand.

Flight - The tactic out of the box is fairly overstable, but less stable than a zone or a harp in my opinion. I am not sure why but this disc beat in worse than any other disc that I had (probably due to hitting a lot of trees). It became very warped and it now flips up a lot in the flight but now it does not feel very comfortable in my hand because it is so warped.

Overall - Good flight but I am not sure that the feel is for me. I enjoy the harp or the zone more.

I found the exo hard tactic to be a very reliable overstable approach disc. I think the tactic is a great replacement for a zone or a pig if you are a die hard discmania fan or just want to try something else. It has an amazing feel in the hand, comes out super smooth and will help your game a lot if you do not have a disc like this. I found my tactic to fly a little straighter out of the box than a zone but the exo hard holds up quite well which helps keep the stability. The stability difference between it and my zone is quite small, I am able to get my tactic just a little further on both forehand and backhand lines. I really like the feel of the exo hard and think I would love the exo soft. One of my favorite discs is the xsoft zone and I really think the exo soft tactic would be very similar to that. Something that feels amazing in the hand but will beat in to a straighter flight with the consistent fade at the end that a tactic brings. If you are a discmania fan and have not thrown the tactic, you are really missing out. If you do not have an overstable approach disc, pick yourself up a tactic. You will not regret it.

Everyone needs an overstable approach disc similar to a Zone or Pig and for those Discmaniacs, here is your disc. Flat top, low glide, very overstable finish. The Tactic can handle power from the tee or an easy approach shot that will always finish left.

EXO hard feels (might be) the same as BT Hard.

Overstable, doesn´t like to fly far. Beats in nicely to a straighter disc if you like cycling. The rim isn´t as comfortable for me as a Zone.

What a disc!!! This is an awesome and powerful tool to have in the arsenal. Overstable and grippy. Similar to the dd harp in shape and flight but slightly more stable finish. All around must have in those heavy wind upshots, tough left turning dog legs, or even when you need a dependable hyzer finish on a long putt. Also check out the Vapor Tactic if you'd rather have a s-line feel to the plastic.

The Razor Claw feels good in the hand, with a somewhat tall rim and a board flat top. It is not as deep as a Harp but not as shallow as a Zone so it feels good in the hand. Flight-wise, it has some glide without the extreme dump that a Zone has. Great for both flick upshots and backhands.

The Tactic in EXO Hard plastic is a newer disc to my bag, however I have really enjoyed throwing this disc both forehand and backhand. The EXO Hard plastic has a really nice grippy and firm feel in the hand. This disc is perfect for flick forehand approach shots. I have also found the Tactic to be extremely useful for backhand shot into a wind or where I am trying to control the distance of the shot.

Into a strong headwind you can also use the Tactic for putting and rely on its consistent fading finish.

The Tactic is an excellent utility disc to have and I find myself reaching for it often on the course. I would definitely recommend the Tactic to those looking for a good forehand flick disc or an approach disc with a reliable finishing fade.

This disc feels very full in the hand in a forehand grip. It felt heavier than the listed weight and overall like a small brick very squared off. It was very comfortable and I was very confident throwing it on approach even though i only borrowed it. it is a low glide overstable approach disc most similar in profile to a harp. The harp I have thrown was a puddle top where this was absolutely board flat. I much prefer this t the harp.

    Closest Zone Copy Available

I think it's obvious that every disc manufacturer wants their version of the overstable approach disc, which became popular because of the zone. Personally I think the Tactic is the second best disc in this category, beaten only by the zone itself. Their flights are almost identical, with the tactic having slightly more glide.

The tactic is completely flat and the plastic has a great feel. This disc is extremely overstable, which is what we want. For approach shots it will almost immediately fade, for drive it will stay flat, not exactly turn, and then have a hard fade at the end.

There are two reasons I think the zone might be the better choice for most: Plastics and depth. The Tactic definitely has a deeper rim. If you don't like shallow discs then this is perfect, but personally I prefer a shallow disc, especially for forehand shots. Second, the tactic only comes in one plastic with two stiffnesses. I like having more options for my plastics.

For the record, I'm an advanced player who throws mostly Innova and Discmania. I play mostly technical courses, not long bomber courses.

This is the overstable disc that fans of discmania have been waiting for. This disc is so reliable it isn't even funny. I have it in the exonhard plastic at 172 grams. When it gets beat in, it develops a puddle top but maintains its stability over time. It's such an easy putter (I say putter because of the speed, but it serves better as an approach disc that only putts in very windy conditions) to flick due to its rim and overstability. On hyzer, there is a predictable fade to the left for a right hand back hand thrower. When thrown flat, it glides for a short while then finishes left. On anhyzer, the disc gets its most distance, but finishes left fairly quickly still. It is very comparable to the very popular zone from Discraft and can hold its own compared to any overstable approach disc. Give this disc a try and you may very well improve your game by a few strokes by using this utility disc to get yourself a few tap in putts.

By far my favorite approach disc. Very overstable and beats in well without losing its stability. Consistent fade but it its dumpy like other overstable approach discs I've tried. Has a flat top and a nice feeling rim that fits great in the hand for approach shots and full power throws.

This disc is truly what the numbers say about it. It has a straight flight and towards the end, it will have a very consistent fade. The flat top of the Tactic feels especially great for a forehand approach disc. This disc can be very comparable to a Discraft Zone or a Westside Discs Harp. This is truly a staple disc in my bag for years to come!

I didn't understand the overstable approach disc initially; what's the point of a disc that doesn't go very far before just dumping out of the sky?  I bag a Gator, Caiman, Truth, EMac Truth, Buzzz, and Roc3...I've clearly got the mid range thing covered, so why would I need some weird mid/putter things?  I got a Prodigy gift card as part of a backpack deal and after getting both of Kevin Jones' Signature discs, I had a little left over and got an A2 in 350G plastic. I threw it a few times and just couldn't understand why I( would want a disc to have such a hard distance envelop, then I was faced with a layup on the side of a steep hill and it suddenly made sense. I can use one of these small diameter discs in just about ANY scenario within 100-150 feet of the pin.

So if the A21 is so great, what does that have to do with the Tactic? Well, the shape of the A2 lends itself well to skipping, but the 350G plastic is just not the best for it. So I have an OS approach disc that doesn't skip well, but also doesn't just sit. Solution? Get an A2 in 400 plastic to better embrace the skip, and get a Tactic in EXO Hard.

When I forehand the Tactic to match the slope the basket is on, the disc gets to where I threw it and just sits down right there. When I hyzer backhand it to match the slope it goes to where I threw it and just sits down. When I throw it flat on a level green it just gets down and sits.  I'm not the most precise thrower, so this disc is doing all the heavy lifting, making sure my remedial forehand attempts yield good results.

I am so glad I got this disc to complement the 400 A2, and I recommend it to players of any skill level. Everybody should know how to use a utility approach disc like this. Between the Tactic and A2 I can get right up to the pin from almost anywhere within 100-150 feet.

Oh man, this disc is perfect. I'm a huge fan of overstable putters since the courses I play are rather short and it's always windy so I use them a lot. I've been throwing the AviarX3 and the pig for most of those shots and the tactic just took both of those out of my bag. The tactic is so good. I got both the soft and hard versions and the plastic feels amazing on both. They have a super flat top and are somewhat puddle-topped. I putt with Yeti Aviars so I'm a huge fan of the puddle top. The rim is different than any other disc I've tried but it is super comfortable in the hand. The flight is exactly what it's billed as. Straight with a penetrating fade and it is indeed good in a headwind. The tactic made an instant impact in bag. Absolutely recommend.
