The Dynamic Discs Captain is a fast distance driver that provides max distance for less experienced players and a predictable, understable flight for disc golfers with big arms. If you're looking for more distance, follow the Captain.

My Flight Ratings: 13/4/-1/1 Terrible for Beginners Throwing Distance: N/A Straight Score: N/A

Disc: Dynamic Discs Captain Lucid X-Out, 175g

Feel: This was the first disc I purchased in Lucid plastic. And it won’t be the last. It has a rather wide rim, which might not be the most comfortable for some people, but I have larger hands, so it feels nice for me. It feels nice both forehand and backhand, I haven’t liked the feel of a distance driver when throwing forehand as much as the Captain in quite a while. Dynamic Discs makes a lot of discs that fit comfortably in my hands.

Flight: I don’t exactly have a huge arm yet, as I am still relatively new to the sport of disc golf. A decent drive for me is about 350-375. So a slightly understable distance driver isn’t going to have as flippy or understable a flight as it would in the hands of a professional. So take what I say about the flight with a grain of salt. I find this disc to be stable. When I really put everything into it, it flies like a rocket, turns a bit, and then fades a bit at the end. But the turn and fade are pretty small honestly, I have been very pleasantly surprised by that. It is a bit beat in, I can’t remember if it flew so straight when I first got it 2 years ago.

Overall: This disc is solid. I’d say it’s a good disc for intermediate players with good arm speed, but not good for beginners. Honestly though, no beginner needs to be throwing ANY distance driver. This is the most emphatic 5-star rating I’ve given any distance driver, save Innova’s Destroyer. A lot of other reviews have said that this falls short of Innova’s Shryke, but I disagree. I think this is a slightly straighter, less glidey version of the Shryke. The Captain is my go-to when I need to rip a drive down a narrow fairway. I’d recommend getting one and at least trying it out, you might find it in your bag sooner than you think.
