Dynamic Discs' Defender is a super-fast overstable driver with a big rim and big fade. A perfect middle ground between the Trespass and the Enforcer in terms of over-stability, this disc will allow big arms a long, straight flight with a hard fade at the end, perfect for controlled distance shots and headwinds.

The problem with the highest speed discs was that they were historically understable. This is no longer an issue. The Defender is here. Fast. Stable. Neither of these descriptions will be in dispute after you unleash this scorcher. You will no longer have to put away your high speed discs when the wind begins to blow. The Defender will have your back when the course and the elements conspire to take you down.

Probably my favorite disc ever made. I bag 4 or 5 of them in different stabilities from a beat in lucid one to brand new beefy bio fusion defender. I am forehand dominant (have about 450 in forehand power and right at 400 in backhand power) and this thing is perfect for that! This disc is great for both flex shots and low straight forehand shots with consistent finish. Wouldn't recommend for a slower arm but if you want torche resistance and power then this disc is perfect!

Just a PD2 with a blunt edge. Beautiful overstable driver for all arm speeds, whether forehand or backhand.

The Dynamic Disc Defender has every bit of speed it needs and more. This wide rim driver mold gives the player something to crush without completely losing hope in accuracy. Cutting down the fairway and past the green, the Defender has an added fade and skip due to the high speed of the disc. Meaning it wouldn't be as over-stable if thrown at its proper speed range.

Lucid molds give the player no chance at reaching that intended flight path that the rim and nose angle demand. Over-stable skip shots and high spikes are all this mold is good for long ways down the course. Forehand throwers can crank on these for sure.

Fuzion plastic Defenders give some hope to a possible long distance path. With some wear and tear this mold can cut fast and eliminate that needed speed for a slight turn and push. Fade will still be primary and the winds will kneel.

I carried a BioFuzion Defender for longer courses in extreme wind conditions. I had no need for something this fast unless it was going to turn and finish properly.

I had someone trade me their Defender (with my 2020 stamp Wars Hypnosis 3 design on it) for a disc of mine. It was way too beefy for their arm speed/technique. It sat in a bin for quite some time before I even tried it. However, as fall rolled around I knew the winds would be picking up and I wanted a more overstable disc I could throw into headwinds and keep from flipping. The Defender is the most overstable distance driver in my bag, and I don't think it will be leaving my bad anytime soon. We have two holes on our course at Kenney Park I use it on pretty regularly depending on the wind. Hole 3 as you're often throwing directly into a headwind from the SW and hole 13 where you need a disc to carry some distance while making a big dog leg left. Without this disc, I'd really struggle on both of those holes in most conditions.

The only reason I don't give this disc a 5 is because it is more domey than I like and I don't love the feel of it in my hand. Other than that, it's been a really great disc for me and I'd recommend it for anyone needing a disc that will not turn on you.

Disc - 170 Dynamic Discs Lucid Defender

Feel - The defender is a high speed driver so it has a fairly wide rim but still fits very comfortably in my hand. I would say that the rim size is similar to that of a destroyer from innova. It feels very good for both forehand and backhand grips and works for power and control grips. Lucid plastic is very durable and also provides good grip compared to other super durable plastics.

Flight - The defender is one of my favorite discs to throw due to its consistency and reliability. I live in Kansas so having discs that will fight the wind well is extremely important and this disc does that well but even on calm days it comes out of my bag often. It isn't my biggest distance disc but it still goes fairly far. For such an overstable disc, it has a good amount of glide.

Overall - The Defender is a great compliment to your max distance disc for a more control distance driver. If you struggle in the wind then I would definitely advise trying out the defender.

I recently picked up a Lucid Defender as a possible replacement for my Star Destroyer that I've been bagging for about a year.  I carry 3 distance drivers, a Star Tern, Lucid Sheriff and the aforementioned Star Destroyer.

I mostly throw control drivers & fairways at the courses I play, but I sometimes need a 350+ shot with fade, or into headwinds or downhill (or all three!).  I've always been a bit disappointed with the carry of my Destroyer, it usually fades out around 325 - 330 even on a pretty strong pull.  After about 15 test throws, I can report that the brand new Lucid Defender goes about 20 feet further and fades about 5 - 10 feet less to the left (RHBH) than the slightly beat in Destroyer.

Added bonus, the Defender gets me the farthest spike hyzers I've ever thrown.  This thing is like a knife on hyzers and just carries!  My max distance on a turnover shot is around 400 feet on level ground with the Tern in a full flight.  I can spike hyzer the Defender about 320.  It holds up to wind and glides like the dickens.  Sold!!

If you are looking for a helluva meat hook, the defender is your disc. It is not my go to distance driver, but it is my favorite on windy days and when im looking for that extra flare skip. Its consistently stable, great feeling out of the hand, and will stay in my bag for the situations that can only call for a disc like a defender.

The defender is a overstable distance driver that work really well on those really windy days or when you need the fade. It also works well for a utility disc in situations where you need to get around trees and other obstacles. I mostly use this disc for huge head winds.

IMO, the Defender might be the best of Dynamic's long driver lineup. Its a disc that combines overstability with nice glide and big distance potential. The Defender is overstable, but not so much that it can't be thrown long distances. It'll hold a flat line for a good while before fading out pretty hard.

The Defender is a disc for experienced players. A fairly big arm is needed to see the disc's true potential (350'+)

I only subtract a star here because the Defender doesn't always work well in Fuzion or Biofuzion plastic. They tend to wear in too quickly and start getting flippy. If you want a Defender that retains overstability for as long as possible, get a Lucid.

All in all, a very good mold. Performs well in the wind.

The Lucid Defender is my go to long distance forehand disc when I don't need it to turn at all. It is quite overstable and hooks back every time. My destroyer will turn on me sometimes, so this Defender seems to be more overstable and so I use it when I only want it to fade.

I've tried to use it on backhand a few times, but I don't recommend it unless you have some serious power or are using it as a utility shot.

I would not recommend this for beginners or even intermediate players for backhand. It is a solid forehand disc and does what it's made to do.

Wow what an overstable disc. If you can't throw 400-450 feet, I would steer clear of this disc, at least in max weight lucid plastic. I can get this out to 380 but even then that's on a flex line with the disc fighting out the whole time almost. I can get my destroyers, ddx, trespass, and tern out past 400 feet but this disc fades hard. However, my form isn't super consistent yet and when I'm reaching 450 I'll have a better perspective on what this disc can do. My buddy who forehands a max weight boss on a flex line for all his shots (terrible way to learn disc golf by the way) only throws meathook discs. He even turns down destroyers because they're "too understable." I let him throw my defender and he loved it. I give it 4 stars because it does what it's advertised to do. If you have a super fast arm you'll get more use out of it than I.

I probably throw 70% forehand and can get my lucid enforcers to about 400 ft. I threw this disc after choosing it in a players pack and knew pretty quickly that it would not fill a spot in the bag for me. The disc is very overstable and wants to dump right out of the hand. It would be a good disc if I was not already so comfortable with the enforcer. I thought the profile of the disc was a little hard to control because of the dome and width of the rim.

Need a high speed driver that holds up great in the wind? Or are you looking for a driver that was predictable fade but stills get a good amount of distance? Then look no further.

The Defender is great into headwinds 25 mph and less and handles them easily. You can get a good amount of distance out of this disc as well if you have the arm speed. I love the Defender on those windy days as I know I can trust it into headwinds. I tried the World and the Giant and they flipped over and after a year + of searching for the mythical wind disc that was missing from my bag the Defender came to the rescue. I also use it as a FH disc as it has a good amount of stability.

Bag the Defender and your game will thank you.

This is my go-to driver.  I play RHFH with a big arm and love the predictable stability of this disc.  Not only will it not torque over on release, it'll almost immediately flatten out from any sane degree of hyzer and finish with a massive right fade.

This disc in Lucid plastic is significantly more stable than my identically rated Innova Ape in Champion.

    I have plenty of Defenders.

Lucid, Bio-fuzion, fuzion and the new Metallic lucid.

I love them all, each has its own purpose.

Metallic Lucid and moonshine are BEEFY. I only use those in stiff headwinds.

Lucid are the most used for me, they are great once lightly seasoned, they can go for days are fight most headwinds. I forehand these and they bomb.

Bio-fuzion are great for my backhands. You start to get a worn in bio and these BOMB. favorite backhand driver.

Great overstable disc, they can break in to make great fliers.

I grabbed my first Defenders at the 2016 GBO, and never looked back.  Let me preface these next statements by saying I have well above average power, and have thrown Defenders, here at 6600ft altitude, well over 550ft.  So... The Defender is the best OS distance driver in the Trilogy line-ups.  I was bagging Giants, and Enforcers before the Defender. Now I carry 4 Defenders, 2 Biofuzion, 2 Lucid, the beat in bio defenders fly very similar to a Pro Destroyer for me, great speed, and glide, and enough stability to finish left, the Lucids act more akin to the old Yellow Avery Destroyers, very trustworthy, and awesome flat power flyers when they are worked in.  if you haven't tried the Defender out yet, you are missing out.

The Defender is fine, but I'm not sure when I would choose it over an Enforcer.  It is overstable as advertised and a fat rim.  It feels nice in the hand.

I had a buddy of mine pick one up at a recent tournament and he has been letting me throwiit and this disc has become my go to forearm disc! Pretty stable disc with some glide to it. I currently throw the defender in lucid plastic i can rip over on it with a forehand for long flez shots or just hyzer bombs with a forearm. With a back hand it is pretty relialbe to go left. In strong headwinds it does go nice and straight with that trusty left dump at the end. Try it out and see if it has a spot for you big arm throwers.

Lucid 172. I bought this hoping for it to be special. but no. oh no nothing special at all. For me, nothing but a meathook. I love my world, can put it 375 any time, 400+. I have not put this over 350 even with an anny to flat release. I just have no figured it out. Personally it is like a beat Stilleto. Comparable to a Discraft Nuke OS. It is not a terrible disc, just nothing I need in my bag. My goal is to beat it up and then reevaulate it.

Got to test out the Defender the other day, and it is a very nice addition to the DD lineup. I was told before throwing it that it was meant to be a longer, more glidey Enforcer, and I think it fit that description very well. I was able to get some really nice distance out of it, both forehand and backhand. I could turn it over if I cranked on it pretty hard, but it has a very reliable fade back. I think this is a disc that we will start to see a lot of the bigger armed trilogy sponsored pros throwing. It definitely isn't a beginner's disc, but I would definitely recommend it to the experienced players looking for a reliable overstable distance driver.
