This is a favorite disc for me, I reach for it consistenly for 150-250 for shots that I want to be straight with light forward fade. Similar hand feel to a Zone, but straighter. Will come out of a medium annhy, feels great. The star comes with a bit of flashing but that is easily solved.

Flies less stable than I would like, has less glide than I would like and somehow doesn't fight the wind that well either. I struggle to find a reason anyone would bag this disc.

This all being said it gets 3.5 stars because it throws just like the numbers say so someone out there might have use for it.

I use my Aviar3 for most of my putting and approach needs. In star plastic, it's easy to get a cycle going - I have my most beat-in for putting, a moderately beat-in one for normal approaches, and a newer one for using in the wind.

As a putter, it's definitely not the usual. I was tired of the wind catching my Aviars, and also of their domey depth. The Aviar3's flat top is really comfortable in my hand, and I can spin putt confidently without worrying about turning it over on a longer attempt.

As an approach disc, it's consistent but workable. Newer discs will need to be forced over a little bit to fly straight, but after some use it will become a straight flyer with just a little fade at the end. This is also a useful disc if you have to try a tricky 50'-80' flick, as it won't burn over like most putters.

I will say that this doesn't fill all my putter needs. I carry a beat-in Aviar for turnovers and any kind floaty putt.

    Trick Putter

RHBH 160 g Star ( more glide with Star ) - flat top has great grip and easy to control.

Big hyzer, slow anhyzer, straight approach,  hole shots from the woods.  if you like to throw putts at 45 degree bank, this has a very reliable drop in .  would give 5 stars if the rim was not so sharp when new.

So I would describe this as the perfect upshot disc in star it is incredibly flat with a good feel in the hand I would describe it as glidey more comfortable berg it gonna be hard to overthrow the basket with it I use for anhyzer hyzer and flat approaches up to about 225 and it does everything you'll ever want it to do. I got this disc and really learned it after playing two rounds with it very easy to pick it up and learn it. I would say this is one of the best discs I've ever thrown and I normally am not a big fan of Innova discs. Definitely a must buy if you play a lot of woods golf

I really like the flat top of the Aviar3 and think it pairs very well with my Streamline Pilot.  I find this disc to be a good putter inside 30 feet, but I think it excels on approach shots.  This disc is magic inside 150 feet and works great as a driving putter off the tee.  I also found it to be very stable when putting into a breeze.  I do not plan on using this disc as my primary putter, but its gonna stay in my bag for a long time as the because of all the other shots it brings.

I got the big sexy stamped aviar3 from Jomez earlier this year and it has changed my approach game I used to approach with a zone/tactic which are still in my bag but I was just missing to many wide open strait approaches left with the zone/tactic the aviar3 isn't as overstable and if I make the mistake of just point and shooting at the basket it still only leaves me with a 15 footer compared with the others which I would be left with a tester of 30-35 feet. It also still has enough stability to hold up to wind and is great slow turning anhyzers. Overall a great disc and has really helped me cash in on some more birdies.

A DX Aviar was the first putter I learned to play with and it served me well. Once it got really beat up (I play mostly wooded courses) I decided to try the Aviar3, which is a flat-topped Aviar, in a more durable plastic, so I went with Star plastic. Unfortunately the Star Aviar3 I received is way beyond flat, in fact it's fully concave. It seems as though it wasn't pressed right or something... In any event it has even less glide than a normal Aviar3 so isn't particularly useful to me. Instead I went for a regular Aviar.

When I first started playing I used the aviar as a putter, but I moved over to the PA4. I like the more flat top in my hand. However, I wanted an approach/driving putter. I think it fits in the hand closer to the PA4, rather than the aviar which is more rounded. Maybe it is just the star plastic, but I have really enjoyed it. I have had success using flex approach shots with this disc. On these shots, I don't think it is incredibly overstable.

This is a decent low-glide overstable approach disc. If you like the feel of board-flat tops on your putter and like the Aviar rim, it will be a good fit for you. It's low glide and stability means that it really won't get away from you unless you really hammer it, so your chances of overshooting the basket on an approach will be lower than a more "standard" approach disc. Just keep it mind that it will want to fade out - but it still sticks pretty well once it hits the ground.

Since it's based on the Aviar mold, it will be deep, so fans of shallower discs like me may find it hard to forehand well.

I don't typically use discs in the Aviar family, however I needed a driving putter, and I LOVE the flat top of most 3-series discs. I definitely like the results I get from this disc. This is typically a disc I use for touch sidearm approaches and putter drives into headwinds. It tends to be a bit touchy on standstill approaches so you may need to do I little bit of practice with this one, but it's quite rewarding once you get it down pat. I like what it's done for me so far and I'm sure in time it'll be even more useful!

I use the Star Aviar3 as my throwing putter. It is a bit overstable which is what I like to have when approaching the pin. I will use this putter under 150 feet to the basket and the Star feel is great. It is a bit grippy, but not as grippy as GStar. I recommend this disc for all players.

I wanted a more stable putter that I could throw approach shots with, and since I was putting with the Aviar, getting the Aviar3 made perfect sense. Unfortunately, it just wasn't doing all the things I need a throwing putter to do. I now realize that I needed a Zone/Harp/Tactic/A2 type overstable approach disc in addition to a stable throwing putter like the Aviar3. However, I've since started putting with the Maiden, so the Aviar3's similarity to the Aviar no longer appeals to me.

This disc is a great stable upshot putter, so if you putt with the Aviar, this will complement it nicely. Otherwise, there's nothing really compelling about this disc. I have this disc in DX plastic as well and it performs pretty identical to the Star plastic.

The Aviar3 is an absolutely great disc for players of all levels. For a beginner, the aviar3 is great for showing issues in your form as it holds most lines that you put it on. For a more advanced player, this a putter that seriously goes for a putter. This disc has kicked most mids out of my bag because of its versatility. I love this disc for tees shots or longer up shots that I just want to throw straight at the pin and know that it will follow that line the whole way and then settle near the basket. If you can get this disc in star plastic I have found great success with it in that. It also feels very comfortable in the hand and is neither too shallow nor too deep. I have tried putting with this disc some and liked the results for a decently straight flight with some finish at the end but because I only own it in premium plastic I have not done a lot of putting with it. This disc is my go to throwing putter for straight shots and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great putter addition to the bag.

I love the low-profile feel of this putter, both for putting, and off the tee. It is great for straight putter throws and touchy forehand approaches as well. I prefer them in DX for putting, but it's great in Star plastic for a driving putter - fairly turn resistant with good form. I can put a bit of power behind it and get it to 280-300 feet dead straight with a slight finish at the end of the flight. Stays where it lands like a good putter should.

The Aviar3 is one the shallowest feeling options on the market filling that stable throwing putter slot. It's low profile will make it more comfortable for anyone with small hands. The mold is has a very similar flight to a lot of other throwing putters. It has a relatively straight flight when thrown flat and isn't really prone to turning over. This disc is weirdly angle sesitive, though. Throwing it on a lot of hyzer will not grant you a lot of flight and the disc will more than likely dump into the ground. This speaks to the disc's lack of glide. There are simply better options out of the market for a straight to stable throwing putter.

The Aviar3 is a flat topped Aviar. It has a relatively straight flight, but a bit more fade at the end then others. It also seems to lack the glide of other Aviars. If you like a more shallow feel, the Aviar3 might be a great disc for you.

The aviar3 is a great addition to a long line great putters with the name aviar. While this disc does bear the name of the most popular putter Innova makes, it has a completely different feel from any of its predecessors. The rim has a nice depth to it, shallow enough that it comes out of the hand clean, but not so shallow that it slips out. It seems to me like it would be a great fit in the hand for almost anybody. The nose has a really nice shape to it, helping it to get up and down without a lot of glide, but not feeling like a flat-nosed brick. I mainly use this disc for forehand upshots, but it also works well as a stable backhand putter if you need to rip on a putter or throw into a headwind. It works really well for putting if you need something to move hard to the left around an obstacle.

I love the Aviar3! It has so many uses out on the course that make it the only approach putter I need in my bag. The disc has enough stability to be thrown with full torque and still fade at the end. The flat top of the disc makes it easy to grip and have a predictable flight.

You are only going to maybe get the Aviar3 to fly for about 300ft max due to its low glide, but anywhere under 250ft, this thing is deadly. I have heard that the AviarX3 is the big brother to the Aviar3, but I feel that they Aviar3 is much more versatile than its big brother for sure. Pick one up; you won't regret it!

This is my favorite Innova putter for all around throwing. The feel is really what makes this disc outstanding, definitely does not seem like an Aviar. Backhand it flies like any other overstable putter, e.g. s-line P2. A bit less glide, but since it's faster it travels just as far as a P2. Great for high hyzer approaches, and it always has a nice bit of skip. Forehand, this disc is pretty good, definitely not zone or harp good but with a little touch it flicks just fine. It's rare to find a putter that can be thrown so well both ways. I prefer this over the Aviarx3, which I find to be more overstable and brickish but isn't that much better for forehand.

The aviar3 is a great approach disc.  I used these for the majority of this season before switching back to the S line P2.  The only reason for switching back was I wanted something that would glide a bit more and hook up a little harder.  The aviar3 is awesome for touchy forehand approaches, hyzer putts that need to move around objects, and drives off the tee.  I used this disc for short drives from about 250' and in.  At the end of its flight it had a very soft fade to it which might be the only downside for me at least.  When thrown hard and flat it flew similar to my nova, nice and straight but then the slight fade would kick in.  Overall its a very good disc and I always keep one around incase I want to put it in the bag or if I'm playing a course where I know there could be possibilities of having to execute touchy forehand shots.

I love the slim feel of the Aviar3 compared to a traditional Aviar, which is a bit too deep for my putting style/grip. I use DX Aviar3's for putting and love how they feel in my hand, but don't want those to beat in too quickly, so I use Star Aviar3's for approaches/upshots. I like how I can put a lot of force into it and remain confident that it won't turn and burn away from me. There is always that bit of fade to rely on. It's a great disc (for me) for approaches from as far as 150 feet or so.

I know it is mostly used as an approach disc for people but I have really enjoyed it as my Circle 1 putter; it just feels so great coming out of my hand! One of my favorite discs out there, feels amazingly comfortable in the hand. Love using it as an approach for backhand shots that I know I need a controlled, straight flight/landing on. Does not fade as hard and absolutely bomb out of the sky. Holds up in a headwind well and can get some great sneaky distance as well. Greatly complimented by the AviarX3, which has just a touch more stability if you're looking to forehand or really rip on a putter. Only reason I would give this disc 4/5 is because I was really looking for the X3 when i was picking up this bad boy and it's like having the bigger brother of the aviar3.

I really like the Aviar3! I bought it because I am looking for a replacement to the S-Line P2's that I have been bagging for a few years, but I have to say upfront for me these discs are not very similar. The Aviar3 has a nice flat, almost puddle top. It feels much better in the hand than a P2 does for my money. It also flies a lot straighter than a P2 does. I definitely keep it around as a thrower that is very straight with minimal fade!

Get this disc! It's extremely versatile and easy to control. Played a one disc only round on a heavily wooded course for my first game with it and it was amazing.

I was getting some of my best drives ever there because the disc is so controlable. It will hold whatever line you put it on all the way until it lands. It had me feeling extremely confident and going for gaps I normally wouldn't ever attempt. I even made a 40' putt with it.

If you are a beginner, this is really the only disc you need...well this and maybe a classic aviar.

I'm not a big arm, usually only throw my putters up to 220 ft or so.  For me, the Aviar3 is a great complement to the Opto Pure on drives and approaches.  It's low profile, so I'm able to more consistently get a clean release.  It resists wind well, and fades quite a bit when it slows down, but can hold a pretty good line when thrown low or into the wind.

I've been looking for a putter like this for awhile, something that I can rely on in the wind, or can rely on to fade quite a bit when thrown with lower power or when given more height, but isn't a meathook.  I think I found this in the Aviar3.

I like it. It's not some sort of end-all-beat-all disc, but it can be relied on off the tee for 250ft straight at the pin with minimal fade at the end.

Moonshine Harp is a good compliment to this disc as it it a very similar feel but a bit more overstable.

I love this badboy.  It started off as a dead straight flyer with a little bit of fade at the end.  Now it's a hyzer flip / turnover disc, and I love it.  I have never had a disc that I can more accurately throw on left to right lines with a RHBH and has excellent control of distance since it's a putter.  Pure driving disc for me, not a disc I try to actually putt with, but it's money inside of 270, and I use it on tricky anny line upshots as well.

Flight ratings are based on how it beats in to, but it didn't take long - maybe 10 rounds or about 50 throws until it became a turnover disc for me.

I absolutely love the Star Aviar3. This disc quickly replaced the Discmania S-Line P2 in my bag. I don't cycle discs out of my bag often so this was a radical change for me, and I haven't gone back yet. For me, the Star Aviar3 is the perfect approach disc, especially for forehands. It can handle a lot of different situations, and the fade is dependable every time. I use this disc for anything inside 125 feet, and love it for utility forehand shots. It is very versatile.

When throwing this disc in the wind, it performs dependably. It doesn't hold it's over-stability in strong headwinds, but the amount of flip that comes with the headwind is always dependable. If I need something to go straight for an approach into a headwind, I go for the Star Aviar3. The low profile flat-top gives it a great wind performance, but the slow speed and putter shape makes it less stable when faced with strong wind. I think it is ideal for breezy conditions when considering the wind.

What I find myself using the Star Aviar3 for the most often is forehand shots. If I need to throw a 40 foot forehand but am in huge trouble in the rough, the Aviar3 is my go-to. Whether that is a high anhyzer or a low, short hyzer, I can always depend on the Aviar 3 to stay on the line I put it on. I have even used it for short rollers, but those aren't my fortè and I can't necessarily recommend them. It is a great forehand utility disc for approaches.

The last thing I use my Aviar3 for is dependable backhand upshots. If I need: A good fade, to hyzer around a tree, or have a moderate wind to take into account, I put away my XT Colt and pick up the Aviar3. I even have found myself trusting the Aviar3 for straight shots over the Colt since it is so dependable that there are no worries of anything crazy happening.

I also find myself using the Aviar3 off the tee as well. Not so much for forehands, but for backhands. If I want the low speed of an Aviar but need to get some distance on the shot, I pick up an Aviar3. Especially if there is a fast green or a small landing zone, I can count on the accuracy of the Aviar3 to be close to my target, and the low speed to minimize action on the green. However, the Star Aviar3 does tend to get a little skip action on slippery/fast greens like hard-pack dirt, so in that case I would use something soft like the XT Colt. But I can count on less action on the green than a midrange such as my Mako3 or McPro Roc3, and the stability of the Aviar3 allows me to power up on it and I can throw it much farther than other putters. On the tee, if I can't decide between a putter and a midrange, the Aviar3 is always a safe bet.

Overall, the Aviar3 is my favorite disc to have come out in 2017. It is more overstable than one would think, but dependable to work through many different conditions. The Aviar3 has helped me greatly improve my ability to forehand with putters and I find myself impressed by my own short game ever since putting one in the bag. The 2 words I describe the Aviar3 with: Versatile and Dependable.

This disc is useful in many situations for me. I can comfortably throw it up to about 200 ft on a slight hyzer and know that it is going to stand up and fly straight for nearly the entire flight path until is has a soft fade at the end. I also like throwing it for 75-125 ft standstill approaches with a hyzer and know it will hold the line and slowly slide up to the pin. I currently just have one in my bag, but I'll most likely be adding another one soon to prevent mine from beating in too quickly.

Wow... When I bought this disc, I was using it for mostly off the tee drives between 150-250. Now, I use this disc on almost every single hole for any shot. I can get the Aviar3 to about 310 and oh my gosh does it go straight. Straight out of the box it is overstable, but take a few months of beating and this thing will become the straightest flying disc in the bag. I compare it to a Mako3 except without the very late understability. This disc has saved me so many strokes and has also already had 2 ACES! Shallow rim, Low profile, Flat top, smooth release. I love my Aviar3.

This is a great driving putter that has quickly made its way into my bag.  The low profile and flat top is very comfortable in the hand and has a nice, clean release (I'm also tempted to try DX's for putting for this reason).  Don't let the low glide rating fool you, as this has good distance potential.  I throw putters quite a bit and the Aviar3 has the stability to handle a good amount of power.  I can always trust it to finish a little to the left on a flat throw (similar to the Roc3's finish, but in putter form).  Definitely pick one of these up and give it a try.

This feels fantastic in every way. Fits nicely in the hand and the star plastic is like butter. It does not glide but it's great for upshot and short drives. It can handle a decent rip and some flex.

The Aviar3 is the first Aviar that I've really liked! Normally, I prefer shallow putters, so the Aviar was out for me. With this flat top though, it feels so much better to me! I played a bit with this just just driving and putting, and it worked great! With too much power, or a headwind, it'll flip over. But if thrown with finesse and a bit of strength, it would hold a straight line forever and hit the ground with not too much fade.

When putting, I noticed the fade more. I also thought it glided pretty well, though it's rating is only 2 glide. I could see myself using this for outside the circle putts, or as a driving putter for sure!

The Aviar3 does not feel as deep as other Aviars, which may be due to its flat top.  But that better feel translates to the Av3 being a very good throwing putter.

Off the tee, the Aviar3 gets a lot of distance:  it flies almost as long a a midrange disc, and has a reliable fade at the end.  The Aviar3 fights the wind and is good in crosswinds.  The Av3 has more glide than its flight numbers suggest, definitely more than the brickish Harp, which is also a good overstable disc.

On approaches, the Av3 holds hyzer lines very well.  It has some skip but not a lot.  The Av3 is not as overstable as a Harp, but is more overstable than a P2 or a P3 or an Envy.  Again, the Av3 is going to fade reliably and consistently.  Approaches are where I found the Av3 to be at it's very best;  the Av3 may replace several approach discs as well as a mid in my bag.

The Av3 can be used for putting, and with practice would be fine.  But for me, it's the approach and also longer shots where the Av3 is best.  I recommend it as a throwing/driving putter.

I took a Star Aviar3 out to my local practice course and threw it around to get a feel for the disc. My first impression was that this was not a putter designed purely for putting. It's a bit overstable for my putting style and faded much more than I am accustomed to for close-in chain-seeking. But once I stepped out further and used it more as a throwing putter for approach shots, I found where the Aviar3 really fits.

The Aviar3 is a very dependable approach disc when I'm throwing at around 100-150 feet and want to float the disc in close to the basket, maybe with a shot at the chains, but with more interest in landing closely. The deep inside rim and flat top made it feel like Innova's answer to the extremely popular Westside HARP. I primarily throw backhand, so the tall rim isn't my favorite when it comes to the "feel" of the disc in my hand (better for forehand).

I feel like the Aviar3 is more designed to be a cross-over between a pure putter and a mid-range, though I don't think it will replace my beloved Prodigy A4 for predictable approach shots. It does fly well, and I believe it will find its way into the bags of many players-- particularly those who are loyal to the Innova brand and want a Harp-like disc.

I got the chance to throw around a 167g Star Aviar3 today, and overall I was pretty impressed with it. As far as flight is concerned, I'd say the Aviar3 is pretty easy to get used to. I found that it had a pretty predictable and dependable fade that wasn't too hard, but a little more severe than other discs with similar flight ratings. It was no Harp or Zone, but I found it fading with a little more punch than an S-Line P2 for example. Perhaps this has something to do with the glide, because I found that this was a less glidey putter. the P2 and PA-1 for example, I consider to be sneaky far  putters when you use them on approach discs, but the Aviar3 was fading out earlier. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I got used to this flight pretty quickly. It also has a noticeably flat top that is almost concave. This rim was pretty easy to fit in my hand as well. I don't think it will be replacing the discs in my bag that I use for similar shots, but if someone made me use the Aviar3 for the rest of my life, I think I'd be okay. It is workable, predictable, and I anticipate it will be a popular new addition to the Innova family

Having thrown traditional Aviars before, I was surprised how overstable the Aviar3 is. My first throw with the Aviar3 I released it at a slight hyzer angle expecting it to flip up and go straight, but nope, it held that hyzer angle and faded much farther left than I intended. After getting used to the flight, I really liked it. Very predictable as it slowly floated with a fading finish. While the 3 doesn't glide as much as a traditional Aviar I'd say the glide rating is substantially more than a 2.

Thie Aviar3 is overstable enough that I can forehand it without it turning over, but the rim is much too deep for what I am comfortable with for a forehand putt and approach disc so I wouldn't use this disc for that purpose.

I like the shape and feel of the Aviar3 much better than the traditional aviar for putting. Mine is very flat on the top and this disc flies nice and straight for putts at circle edge. This is a great feeling putter for me, and while I'd prefer it in a grippier plastic, I made several outside the circle putts with the Aviar3 and was very confident with it.

Overall, the Aviar3 is a very solid putt and approach disc that would work great for 1 disc only rounds.
