Usually I'll take half a star off for DX versions of discs because of how easily they get beat up, but I was impressed enough with the Skeeter, that I think it deserves to be shown with the full five stars. I don't know where my brother-in-law got it, but it's a 175g PFN version in a dingy white and kind of dirty, but it has no signs of actual scuffing, dents, warping, etc, so it seemed to be in very good shape and warranted giving it a go. It feels good in the hand (better than the Roc), and it flew pretty dead straight for me over and over. I tested it alongside some other mids with similar flight numbers (Origin, Despair, Pathfinder), and found that it was the most consistently straight flier of the set, and was least prone to getting the nose angle too high or low; consequently it was often getting the best final distance as well. It was straight enough in its flight and finish, that I think the Turn/Fade should be less than the -1/1 given online; maybe even as low as 0/0 instead. Beginners may not get the same straight flight out of it right away, and power throwers will definitely produce more turn with it, but I think it will be a great disc to have on hand for players of any level.

    170g Innova Skeeter DX

This is a dome disc that shoots straight and allows a little turn and fade for some variabilty in how you throw it.

That being said, there are a number of midranges with flight numbers 5/5/-1/1 and this is not my favorite. I have not thrown all of them but I would likely go with the MVP Hex or the DD Truth over the Skeeter, it is just too much of a dome to feel really comfortable. By no means does this make the Skeeter a bad disc, it is just up against some great discs. I have yet to try the 64 Claymore, the Prodigy M4, Discmania Origin, Clash Berry, or Lone Star Texas Ranger., but I feel I would probably rate a few of them higher than the Skeeter as well.

Solid Beginner Midrange - Has a Unique Feel and Shape

While this is not my favorite mid-range, it does have its value. Generally I use Fuse, Mako, and Buzzz as my main mids, and it could just be that I am accustomed to a very flat midrange dsic. With that being said, I have found the Skeeter's domey-ness to cause some relative inconsistency in my throws. It definitely seems to be a little understable compared to the given flight numbers and compared to other mids I have used.

To me, the value comes when I have a tunnel shot that curves a little left to right. With good snap on my RHBH, this disc is pretty solid at flipping and holding for a bit and then gently fading just a tad at the end. It is a good disc to use if you don't want to risk landing too far into the woods.

If you do not have a Skeeter in your bag, you are missing out.
I bought a 130 gram Skeeter that cannot hold up in the wind at all. HOWEVER it is the best disc to throw in the entire world.

First, lets discuss the feel in the hand. It is so deep it holds like a pole cat, which is just an amazing feeling. The soft plastic is amazing, the smooth skin of the Skeeter feels so nice against my hand. Who cares that you can't hold it normally? It's the Skeeter. Nothing else matters.

Second, the flight. Maybe I'm lucky because I have the lightest skeeter known to man, but whenever I throw it with hyzer, it curves right. It is amazing. The poor mans anhyzer. Also, unless you want a roller, you need to basically throw it vertically because it isn't a normal disc. It's the Skeeter. Drop the rest of your bag. All you need is the Skeeter.

Finally, and most importantly, the name. I have yet to come across a disc with a better name than the Skeeter. Not the mosquito. The Skeeter. That is just amazing. If you haven't been convinced to buy a Skeeter already, this should alter your mindset entirely. Just get a bag full of skeeters. That's all you need. Skeeter. Skeeter. Skeet. Skeeter

In conclusion, if you don't have a skeeter, you're wrong. If you think this disc is bad, you're wrong. Buy now.

This disc got me more birdies when I was still full of the suck than any other disc.
Now, when I throw it, it's like a trip down memory lane. It's now a weird little underpowered disc to me. But I can still pull some angled, off kilter shots with this.
Is it a putter? a short approach disc?
All I know is I have improved my arm, and I no longer really have a regular use for this disc, but I still use it for those knotty upshots. I lost this disc for three years somehow, and since then I've grown into other discs with more abilities to get me out of jams, but this is sort of an inverted Star Gator.
An odd duck, to be sure, but it might fill a hole in your game you didn't know you had.

Helped me straighten out my backhand.  As a slow-armed beginner, I was having trouble with too much fade from most of my discs.  So I bought a couple of light-weight (under 150g.) DX Skeeters, looking for a straight-flying disk for tunnel shots.  To my surprise, I got just the opposite of excessive fade when I threw these!  Instead of fading or going straight, the disc went the “other” way – the opposite of fading (and with good distance, too, thanks to its ample glide).  Turns out I had been throwing a lot of unintentional anhyzers, which I did not notice because my other discs faded too much for me.  But this disc goes just the way you throw it (as long as it’s not too heavy for you).  As a result, the Skeeter showed me what I was doing wrong, and helped me correct it.  Now that I pay more attention to the throwing angle, I can take advantage of the different flight characteristics of all my discs.  And since the Skeeter holds the line that I throw it on, it’s my main mid-range disc for when I actually need to throw an anhyzer to curve the “other” direction.  I hear that a lot of experienced players don’t like the Skeeter because it flips over when thrown with a lot of power, but if you have a slow arm like me, and you want a mid-range disc to show you if you are throwing at the right angle, this disc is for you.

This is the most glidey, straight-flying disc...that I give to my friends just starting out.

It's weird, when you are a beginner with this disc, it will go laser straight and carry forever. When you become a bit more experienced and it has been in your closet for a couple of months, you take it out just to see what it was about and...it turns over, you realize how domey it is and uncomfortable it is in the hand. It is magic in the hands of a novice, but garbage after you have been throwing max weight flat top Rocs. This is a great disc....for friends.

I use a DX Skeeter for throws around 100 feet that are either straight or I need to turn clockwise around an obstacle. I can't throw forehand with any consistency, and the Skeeter is easy to turn to the right on a RHBH throw.

I actually prefer the domey top that many people complain about. I've tried other midrange discs with similar flight numbers (Shark, Buzzz) and prefer the Skeeter.

This disc has a pop top to start off. The skeeter for me is one of my most disappointing disc I have if I put any power behind it it flips over and falls to the ground instantly. It a very hard disc to understand and is not one of my go to midranges.

I got a Skeeter in DX plastic as part of an Innova starter kit, and I would agree with its description as a straight flying and easy to throw disc especially as it begins to get beaten in (which is pretty quickly for the DX plastic). This disc in DX plastic has a really nice feel in the hand, however any tree hits or rough terrain on the course can easily scrap up and put knicks in the disc.

I find that the extra glide in the Skeeter (as compared to something like the Buzzz) makes the disc really easy to throw. I do have to make a conscience effort when I'm throwing the Skeeter to not overthrow it because it will turn over.

The Skeeter is a great beginner disc because it can hold most any line you put it on, so it is helpful in giving feedback on what angles you are releasing the disc on.

I would definitely recommend the Skeeter (in DX plastic) to anyone looking to get into disc gold and looking for an easier to throw, straight flying midrange.

    170 gram DX Skeeter

The Skeeter is a great straight flying midrange for beginners.  It was my first stable midrange.  It flew well even with imperfect form and a slower arm speed.  As I got better and the disc got seasoned, it became a little understable.  It still flies straight for powered-down approaches, but turns to the right when thrown full speed.

Get bit by the Skeeter, my dudes. This was my first disc, and has been by my side for four years since I bought it at a garage sale. I find the disc criminally underused, and perhaps I love it due to the name being two letters and an apostrophe away from my high school nickname. Thanks, Alex. In a hand familiar with its flight throughout its life, you are always going to have a straight flight, and this is my go to disc for short tunnel drives or approaches.

PROS: Predictable flight throughout it's life, my homeboy ages like a fine wine but better since I've never parked a wine bottle on the green.

CONS: Despite my bias, if I have thrown this disc after a big drive it will flip up faster than a Walmart goldfish. It does require finesse as an experienced player, and can't be bombed like a Roc.

We have 155g and 162g DX Skeeters.  They aren't super comfortable in my hand, but these are good beginner discs.  When a beginner throws them (or you simply don't throw them very hard), they have lots of glide to stay in the air and simply sail straight (0 turn and 0 fade) and land gently.  If I try too hard, things get wonky, so I prefer an Infinite Disc Chariot or Discraft Buzzz that I can throw hard (this may be an indictment of my technique).  However, this is a good disc for beginners and a good disc to keep for friends who don't play frequently.  Having the experience that I have now (I still have only been playing for 3-4 months), I would purchase something like a Chariot or a Buzzz that I could develop into.  However, I don't regret having Skeeters as part of my learning process and now extra discs for friends/family.

This was a great beginner disc to learn the proper mechanics of throwing and syncing up all the neccessary body parts and levers correclty. This was my first disc golf disc in dx at 163g.

As my mechanics became more efficient this disk started to turn over too much for me to constiently be throwing 280+. This disc is stilll great for approach shots with no wind between 75 and 125 ft. I would reccomend this disc to any beginner who wants to throw a stable straight disc.

I prefer flatter discs, and the skeeter has a generous dome top. The rim depth and width were at what I look for for my midranges.

Overall, a beginner would have great use with this disc.

I was looking for a mid-range for my 10-year old son and the shop owner suggested the Skeeter.  After just a few throws he was getting the disc to fly straight with little fade and land very close to the target.  Even though it is heavier than the other discs he is used to (this one is 175 grams) he did not have a problem throwing.  As he gets stronger I am sure this disc will start to be less useful for him, but for now I think it will be a very helpful mid-range.

When I originally researched and bought the Skeeter 170g (DX), I thought it would be the perfect disc for the narrow tree lined fairways of my local course. And for some, it'll certainly be great for just that. This disc does fly straight and I would think many would consider it easy to throw. However, I was quickly a bit disappointed with it. The main reason is the way it fits my hand. It's not comfortable in my hand at all. The dome top along with the shape of rim creates a combo that just doesn't feel right for me. Power grip? No way. Fan grip? Better, but still not right. Also, the disc seems slower than my other speed 5 discs like the Wombat3 or Manta, or even some speed 4 discs like the ROC, Shark or Cobra. It could be just because I'm not throwing it as well as the other discs because of the way it feels. I'm not saying it's a bad disc, I'm sure it works for plenty of people, and would even make a workable approach disc for me in a pinch. But overall it's just not a good fit for me.

The skeeter flies really well with a straignt line in account for the turn and fade. But the disc is so uncomfortable in the had. I say that in a better plastic, I can understand why people use but I recommend not getting it in a DX which is what I tried. The uniqueness of the dx rim might be good for people with smaller hands. The flight is amazing and it is a good disc but I am reviewing the DX version. And I was very disappointed.

I really love this disc. For some reason it gets a bad name, but when i push back with people they usually admit to having never even tried it. What is that old saying...?? People hear others say the skeeter is "lame" or "too flippy" or think they are just too cool to use a disc that comes in a starter set...

My first skeeter was in my first starter set (classic aviar, dx skeeter, dx beast). it started as just a straight flier with a slight finish. the glide amazed me, i didnt have to throw hard to carry at least 100 feet. From 150ft and in, this was my disc. i was guilty of even using it as my putter(blasphemy, i know!!!), because i didnt like the aviar at all(also a lightweight, 152g). i got my first ace with that skeeter. it was a super light, 152g, so as my form got better and the disc got beat in, it just got so dang flippy. this is no fault to the disc of course, i still loved it. i kept the skeeter around and usually gave it to my wife to use when she would walk the course with me and i would loan it to friends.

sometimes for nostalgia, i would throw it at the course or around my neighborhood and i still loved it! so i said to myself, "why dont i get a heavier skeeter??" And that is just what i did. i got myself a 175g dx skeeter, and it is amazing. that is my jam from 150ft in. i dont bust it out much further than that bc it can get flippy with too much power. it also cannot handle the wind. but every disc has its limitations. if you only know when to throw the skeeter, then you would love it too. 125ft straight shot, skeeter. 125ft hyzer shot, skeeter. 125ft anny the whole way, skeeter.

do yourself a favor, get a skeeter. at least try it out. if Garrett Gurthie can throw a Wombat and a Sonic, if Tristan Tanner can throw a Byte, that is proof that there are no bad discs. each disc has value if you can use it to improve YOUR game!

i'm gonna be picking me up a skeeter in star plastic next!

i'll post a skeeter review soon!

As a beginner, this disc is one of the most used in my bag. The disc is the straightest flying disc that I have ever thrown. I have found that the disc is a little slower than a 5, because it is the shortest mid-range I have thrown. As someone who has thrown frisbees all of my life, this disc has helped with my transition to disc golf. Though it is beginner friendly, I don't see it leaving my bag soon!

The Skeeter is one great disc, especially for new players. It is perfect for players looking to only carry one disc. It flies very straight right out of the box without much power. It can be a nice hyzerflip disc with great glide, and you you can really throw some nice anhyzers with this.

This would be the first disc I would recommend to any beginner. Slower arm speeds will find this easy to throw straight with max distance. I had several friends new to the game that were all fighting to use this the first time we went out an played because of how easy it was for them to throw

I've only ever seen DX Skeeters floating around, and they all seem to be beat up. Apparently Innova made a ton of these back in the day. I assume that fresh Skeeters still exist out there somewhere, but I only have experience with DX Skeeters, which every disc golfer and their mother seems to have sitting in the trunk of their car because they bought it around 10 years ago. If you run across one of these discs, you can expect it to be flippy as all get out. It is definitely a good beginner disc because it can be thrown straight with minimal effort, but experienced players will find this disc to be too finicky unless perhaps if you're playing a course in the woods where wind doesn't come into play at all.

The grip seems more suited (in my hand at least) to a fan grip than a power grip, and in a way that makes sense because the Skeeter asks you to throw it with finesse rather than maximum power to get the best results. Pretend like you're throwing an upshot with a Swan and you can get results with this disc, but it's not really something you probably want to throw off the tee. And really, that's what it's good for. Rather than being a disc for throwing off the tee, the Skeeter seems more appropriate for use as an upshot disc for ranges where you can't comfortably pump a putter out to. Throwing it off the tee on anything over 250' seems difficult, unless perhaps you have a right turning hole and you can't throw a forehand.

I had some fun throwing my own secondhand DX Skeeter around, but I couldn't see myself bagging one for the simple reason that there are other understable mids on the market that are more reliable and feel better in the hand. There's nothing wrong with the Skeeter, and I'm sure that when it came out it was a good disc, but it just seems outclassed by a lot of the newer discs that have come out trying to fill the same slot. Perhaps I would find a better use for it if I lived in a state with more trees and less wind, but for me this a 3-star disc at best.

The flight numbers and description are horribly off, this disc is very understable in my experience (think -2.5 turn not 0). BUT, that being said, I love throwing it. Great for aproaches and short drives that require a right hand curve (RHBH) And it fades out just a tad at the end giving it fair distance.

The skeeter is a great disc for new players, my very first disc was a gift from a friend and it was a 138g skeeter. I loved this disc when i was learning the game and i used it often until it became too beat in and was far too light for me. I upgraded to a 170g skeeter and threw it until I realized that it simply wasn't my kind of disc. The skeeter is too flipppy in my oppinion, its not a great roller either. If youre a beginner learning the game or a amature player throwing a tight tunnel shot the skeeter is a great disc but i found the skeeter too flippy no matter how much power i put behind it and i wasnt accurate with the disc, i carry my 170g in my loner bag for friends but i do not throw it anymore. I feel this is a great disc for beginners, especially young children with minimal power, i would reccomend you purchase this disc in some plastic besides DX however.

I picked up a used Skeeter in DX plastic. Two things impressed me: one, this disc flies dead straight, which makes it very useful for approach shots; two, it has some nice glide, which makes it a good candidate for 150-200 foot tunnel shots. It gets pretty flippy if there is wind or if you try to muscle it. Nice little disc on the whole.
