The MVP Relay is the fairway driver released for the 2015 MVP Circuit. This easy-to-throw, understable fairway driver is a great disc for new disc golfers. The Relay has a moderate 16mm wing, which makes it slightly slower and easier to control than the existing control drivers in the MVP line.

The Relay is a slightly more stable crave. This disc is a great option for a beginner looking for a driver as it flies longer than a mid range. The best use for this is a driver in a heavily wooded course where you need some distance but value control more.

I’m going to be honest with you when I say, I had no clue what I was getting into when I bought this disc. I just saw one review that said it was the best 6 speed driver and holy…were they right. It is definitely a workhorse in my bag and does what its name suggests…relays! To me it’s for those medium to long approach shots that need a tight line. This thing will hold onto that line for dear life which is part of the reason I love it so much. You know exactly where it will land, every time. You can definitely get really creative with the shots too. I’ve found success throwing it forehand, backhand and even tomahawking this thing because it just that good. Flight numbers that are listed held true to me and I can see any beginner really enjoying this one. Overall, a really solid workhorse disc that would compliment any bag!

I got this disc used from a friend of mine. As a beginner, this disc was slightly overstable. Now that I have beat it in some more and increased my arm speed, it flies more similarly to a stock crave. This disc is definitely not as understable as the numbers suggest, but when beaten in enough this can become a reliable straight shot or hyzer flip disc for those medium length par 3s.

The relay took me a while to figure out. I bought it under the impression it would be understable, and it was way more stable out of the box. Not that I've been using it for 4 months I can keep it straight with a finish. Once it starts slowing down it continues to push forward while fading, which can be useful in a lot of situations. I have only had it turn out of my hand a few times, but it was into a headwind. I'd say I'm still a beginner, and throw 250-260 feet max.

I have a 170 gram R2 neutron relay that you get from the PDGA when you first sign up and I also purchased 2 neutron relays.

They all fly more overstable than what the maufacturerer suggests and I agree with David Asche. After about a year of using the R2 relay, it now flies like the manufacturerer's flight numbers.

This disc out of the box can be a workhorse driver you use for 70% of your shots. This is how I used this disc.

For reference, I throw 270ft consisently with a stock teebird.

It took me a few times to figure this disc out. With the -2 turn I was expecting a hyzer flip disc or easy turnover disc. But out of the box it is much more stable than expected. But knowing that, it became a great strait throwing disc with reliable fade. With that being said, after a year of playing with it, it has turned into what I though it would be originally and is my go to disc for tight tunnel shots. A bag two now, one beat in and one newer. This will be a mold, staying in my bag for years to come.

I am intermediate in my arm power. This disc works so well for fines shots. For those that want a buzz that is a bit more stable then this disc out of the box is that. I have not nailed my forehand yet and this disk will take a wide anny and pull itself back to flat and not roll. I love this disk for anything under 200'.

I got this disc after starting with very overstable discs. As my arm speed improved this slowly became my straight flyer after I could get enough whip on my throws to keep it straight with a slight fade at the end. At lower arm speeds this will fly pretty overstable which can be useful when starting to add to your bag as a reliable overstable disc as as you improve this will become your straight flyer.

I hate seeing low reviews for this disc. This is one of my favorite discs in my bag. I bought it when I first started and it's a great driver for beginners. After getting some more experience I began turning over and flipping up this disc with ease. I think this is a great disc for all skill levels. This disc is a staple in my bag and I don't see it getting replaced by anything else.

I love the Relay. I use this disc for many touchy drive/approach scenarios no other disc in the bag can do. For 250-325 foot par 3's I power down to the relay to get a super consistent slight flip, straight glide, and slight left fade. My birdie percentages in this range have never been higher! I also love the razor thin flatness of the disc!

    Pros:

    EASY to throw FH/BH

    Feel (thin!!)

    Glide

    Touchy Straight/Anhyzer approaches

    Cons:

There is a reason the Relay is given out to new PDGA members. This is an excellent first driver and an amazing learning tool. When thrown with low power it gets a nice, straight line flight with minimal fade. As you increase in your skill it begins to turn more and can shape  many shots in the woods. It is also a nice disc to learn rollers with. Though I do not bag a Relay anymore, it is always in my trunk in case I am playing with someone newer.

    173 Neutron Relay

I have bagged this for about six months. Although I don't use it often, there are definite times I pull it out. Overall, it was not what I expected. It is more stable than I anticipated before throwing it. Feel is great in the hand, very flat and small diameter. It is my "laser straight" disc when I need it. And I mean, I need a rope right now that can continue to glide five feet off of the ground and not turn until it completely runs out of speed. This disc is it. Once you learn the correct hyzer release you can rip this and it is dead straight.

It is great for hitting tight gaps and flies well for shots with no run-up available. I also use it for tight and delicate FH up-shots. Great woods disc. Overall, I like the speed, glide, and fade, but I haven't seen -2 turn. I would go -1.

Summary A fantastic control driver. Very comfortable in hand for large and small alike, accurate to numbers, flat, great plastic. Feels good for all grip types. A rare disc that I can comfortably recommend to brand new players and seasoned veterans.

Feel: This thing is flat making it easy to hold FH and BH. The rim is "sharp" like a fairway driveut it's about the smallest rim ever on a fairway driver which makes it almost feel like a midrange. I power grip most discs that are above a 5 speed, and control grip mids and putters. But with this disc, I actually use a control grip because of the small rim (or wing, whatever you wanna call it). Neutron plastic is fantastic. It's like the took Innova star plastic, and updated it making it feel supple and firm at the same time.

Flight: Flies how you would expect for the most part. I'd say that it turns a little less and fades a tiny bit more than an innova leopard. But it turns more than most leopard3's. MVP technology is largely misunderstood, but one thing about the technology is true- MVP discs are able to be much flatter than other discs while maintaining a high glide rating. So this is definitely a 5 glide, but it's as flat as a disc with say a 2-3 glide rating.

In my mind, the relay is a super long flying mid, or an incredibly controllable driver. A mid driver? I like it.

    Disc - Nuetron Relay

Feel - The relay has a great small rim that fits nicely in the hand. It is very flat and has a great feel. Many people have mentioned how they enjoy this disc for forehand which I believe is most likely due to the flat comfortable feel.

Flight - This disc is very similar to the innova leopard but does not quite have the glide of a leopard in my opinion. It has the speed of the original leopard but the glide of the leopard3 which I believe limits a bit of its distance potential.

Overall - the relay is a good disc but I believe that there are some better options out there for the slot unless you are looking for something that works well for some forehands as well.

I got this disc with my PDGA membership and wasn't planning on bagging it. However, my son (RHFH) got his in a tournament and it quickly became his second favorite disc in his bag. In his second round, he only threw the Relay, Renegade and his putter. I gave it a try after the tournament and its a very useful RHBH disc as well. I throw it when I need a little more distance than my reactor or buzz and it flies very similar to me. I've also been working on my forehand that was giving me a lot of trouble since I started throwing discs. I've quickly started being able to throw forehands with this disc (at this point only around 100-150' when I absolutely have not other shot) and have worked out the wobbling and inconsistencies that I've had with all of my other discs. I feel confident that with this disc, I'll be hitting 300' with my forehand and then can move up to some higher speed discs. This is a also a great mid disc for beginners when you need a little more distance backhand or forehand and great disc to learn forehands for anyone that struggles and need more control.

This good forehand disc is a great example of the Teebird3. The disc is slow, it is a good forehand disc and it can usually be thrown easier. I recommend throwing the disc forehand and be careful when you are using the disc backhand it can sometimes have problems when thrown backhand.

This disc has glide for days. The late turn you can get is really cool and super useful. Tunnel shots and dead center fairway hits come easier with a Relay. Although this disc is very beginner friendly, I feel like I will always have one in my bag. I can't wait to see what sort of hyzer flips this will achieve when broken in.

Flight path reminds of the Innova Leopard DX I got in my starter pack, but the feel of the Relay is 10xs better. Without strong winds when thrown flat it flies straight or slightly to the right. Disc will fly on any line you throw it on. For me I mainly use it for RHBH shots 250'-350' when I know that I can't go to the left.

Great shot shaping disc. This disc is almost a unicorn of sorts. It has a slow speed, but gets really good distance. The slow speed makes the turnover really slow which really can shape some cool shots. So if you release it on a steep hyzer, it will flip up so slowly that it will turn about 30-35 degrees to the left before getting flat and going straight for the rest of the flight. There is hole that I play quite a bit that you need to turn left about 30 degrees after about 150 feet and then you need your disc to straight or best case scenario start turning right a little for about 200 more feet. I don't have a good flex fore hand, so this disc can best get the line I need so that I can set myself up for a long circle 2 putt on this hole.

I used try to do these slow turning shots with mid range discs, but I could not get the distance I needed on some holes (my max mid range distance is about 320 feet. This disc I can shape like a mid range disc and get about 360 feet of distance.

The relay is a great understable fairway driver for all new players and even intermediate players. This disc flies very similar to like a leopard for my, it will glide for a super long time but is really easy to manipulate. If you are a beginner player you will find the relay to have a nice straight flight with some late fade at the very end. As you start throwing further you will notice more turn out of the disc and less fade at the end. If you are an intermediate player you will be able to do almost anything with this disc. You can hyzer flip it to flip over, get a full s shape or even flip it to flat and let it ride straight for a long time. If you need something to turn hard to the right you can throw the relay flat and watch it flip over with little to no fade at the end. I really love throwing this disc on massive sky anhyzer lines and watching it just hold the angle the whole way to the ground. I also love throwing it on a slight hyzer and letting it gently flip over to the right. I would say the relay is the perfect disc for new players to get when they start throwing drivers. It will be a disc you can lean on and even more skilled players can find spots this disc will fill in their bags.

I found this disc to be a little weird. The flight numbers are accurate at about a speed 8 or 9 I think. I bought this looking for a little understable Servo and it ended up being about just as stable. I did finally figure out that if you throw it extremely hard you can get it to stand up and go straight. It flys almost exactly like the Inertia for me, which isn't bad of course, but not a speed 6. On that high power hyzerflip this thing goes though. Easy to get a ton of distance dead straight.

I got this to replace my cheetah. It flies beautifully, if a bit different. I think the turn number of -2.0 might be a be understated (maybe a 2.5 or a 3.0) but the lack of a strong fade makes it a great disc for anyone's bag. I thought I'd like it for forehand shots but so far it actually use it more for a backhand (RHBH). Regardless, it's just a good disc.

Flight numbers are pretty accurate, slightly more turn than listed. I wanted something to hyzer flip out to about 300 ft,  or have it finish right (RHBH). This does that. It can be a bit touchy, but that's to be expected with an US disc. It has a very thin profile, but not so much that it's uncomfortable. Almost aced with it a couple days ago on a shorter 225ft hole with a right finish. Thrown flat and underpowered it was a laser to the basket. Replaced the Leopard.

I had high hopes for this at the event but was rather pretty much underwhelmed. This is an understable but finicky disc for me. Too much power and it burns. The glide was low. I would say if you throw around 300 it might be a nice disc for distance.

The Relay from MVP is a very understable fairway. It can be used for backhand rollers, turnover shots or maybe even straight shots if thrown powered down with some hyzer. Very good disc for the kind of shot it is designed for but not so understable that it is unusable. If you want something that you can get to turn and definitly get into a roller, this is the fairway for you!

This is the disc that made me fall in love with MVP. As a newer player, the Relay was a great distance driver - I could get it to glide long and straight and the rim wasn't too wide. As my game improved I found it would turn a bit too much but that allowed me to start learning hyzerflips. I think this is an excellent disc to give to newer players, or players with slower armspeed.

The Relay is a thin profile disc with an ergonomic design - fits well in the hand for almost any player (other than someone with monster hands) - It is understable but can be worked to fly all kinds of lines.  I am a more experienced player - though this disc is advertised as a beginner disc I heard other experienced players really liking this disc.  So I wanted to check it out

I would rate this 7/5/-2.5/1 - I rate it a speed 7 only because this thing goes REALLY far for such a thin disc.  It feels small in the hand, low profile - which I really like - where this disc shines for me is on out shots in the woods, tomahawk throws, and controlled flights when you don't have arm room for power or you don't have a good run-up with your feet.  When getting out of trouble its nice to have a disc that will still get straight distance even if you can't get a full throw on it.   Not to say this disc is over flippy - because it isn't unless you give it a solid throw - if you compensate that with hyzer angle it can be panned out on a great big Hyzer-flip.  I have thrown this disc VERY far in the field.  It actually outdrove my Insanity, Volts, Outlaws and almost the Teleport!!! almost but that was a great relay throw and a moderate teleport throw.

One thing Gyro discs in general have is a later turning phase than traditional discs.  I have put the Relay on a good hyzer and when properly thrown it goes out to the left, flips to flat, then takes a late big Right fade before settling.  If you trust this throw you can create some really neat lines and find new ways to attack a hole.

*Disc is usable for all people

*Understable but very manageable - depends a lot on power and angles

*Thin and small making getting out of trouble in thick woods/bushes easier

****Overall its a cool disc and worth checking out - don't let the 'speed' fool you it will outdrive teebirds and then-some.

This disc is absolutely perfect for beginners. I got a used one as one of my first two discs and I really liked it. It's a superb disc that just flies well, it feels nice to throw, and it doesn't take a lot of arm strength to make it go straight. It's super reliable and you can trust it will do its part when you throw it well. I took it out of my bag for a few months as I got better and threw bigger discs, but I've been returning to it recently and it's really helped my game. It's a disc I can throw maybe 8 shots a round with, but I know every throw I take will be exaclty what I want. It's a fantastic mid/fairway driver hybrid that is super reliable and will never let you down. I highly recommend it as a beginner disc.

The Relay is a happy addition to my bag. I picked one up to try because the Amp I'd bought just didn't fly anywhere near the indicated flight characterstics. I still needed a solid US fairway driver that carried farther than the Switch. The Relay provided me with what I was looking for,

Despite being the same speed as the Switch, the Relay carries farther consistently. It's easy to hyzer flip up to straight and offers easy-to-control turnover shots. It's always offered a bit of fade, even when I've thrown into light headwinds.

It flies well when powered down a bit, too, making it a good disc for beginners.

The Relay has become a very important disc in my bag. Really comfortable profile and Neutron plastic always feels great. I've never been able to get such effortless distance out of a disc before. It is a speed 6 driver that will reach out nearly as far as my speed 9's. Great for hyzer flips and big turnover drives in the woods. I use it as my Comet on steroids. It's a backhand exclusive for me because of how understable it is. Great finesse disc to carve up the woods. Just on overall fun disc that I really enjoy and would recommend especially for beginners.

Wasnt sure what to expect other than coming from MVP it should be vert reliable at whatever it does.  I throw RHFH and when hyzer flipped it will flip up all the way just past flat to anny, hold that line ever so gently,  come back with a nice penetrating fade making the disc end just left of center, so to compensate I throw a hzerflip just right of center at 75% power.  So far the disc does what I think it will 8 out of 10 times...  Ill update in a month.

Picked this disc up in a circuit event in 2015 and it slowly made its way into my bag. I parked several holes and had the only ace in the event but I was still a little hesitant to add it. Since then the disc became somewhat of a go to for multiple shots. Learn this disc and it will do anything.

It is perfect for beginners to learn how to throw correctly. The rim is small and fits comfortably in the hand so it doesn't require a lot of power to get it to fly straight. If your form is decent it will go far. I was using this on most shots 315 - 375 ft. The flight numbers are correct for the most part, the rim size is similar to an Innova Leopard, but the dual plastic mold possibly makes it a little more understable(?) perhaps.

My only gripe about it is that the outer layer of plastic is worthless. This disc is great for throwing in the woods but it won't stand up to too much of a beating. A couple of good hits against a tree and chunks of plastic are soon missing.

The Relay is a perfect utility disc for a wide array of shots. Its basically like having a really long mid. Its almost neutral. You can flip it if you lay into it, but it holds a pretty straight line with a decent amount of power. Will hold Anny's and hyzer's nicely as well. Really the perfect disc for technical wooded courses. Cannot recommend it enough

The MVP Relay is a disc that can be thrown by anybody. It is an understate fairway driver made to feel great in the hand and fly even better. The neutron plastic feels nice and smooth and is very easy to grip.

Beginners will find this disc to be very easy to control and get great distance out of. For the slower arm speeds they will find a nice S curve out of the flight giving great distance and control.

For the more advanced players the Relay will fit that under stable fairway slot. It can used on a wide variety of shots such as anhyzers, hyzers flips and rollers. My favorite shot to throw is the hyzers flip with the relay. It will pop up flat with a small amount of anhyzer and will just glide so beautifully.

Overall this is a fantastic disc that I would recommend to anyone. It's certainly a disc that will probably never leave my bag.

This disc is a good disc. The grip on this disc feels comfortable, the rim size is small. As such it fits in the hand quite comfortably.

The stability of this disc is very understable. I have a hard time throwing the disc straight when I put a lot of power behind it. For that its not a favorite disc, its understability leads to a unpredictable state, I don't  throw it enough to know the disc perfectly.

The shape ability of this disc is easy for anhyzer lines. It can easily follow any degree of anhyzer line that you wish. Hyzer flips for this disc is hard to do unless you throw it very soft.

Distance wise there are discs that can be thrown father, granted this isn't a distance driver. As a fairway driver however, I find this disc more useful for longer than midrange distance that go to the right (RHBH).

Overall it is a good disc for the understability. It is really easy to turn over, and easily holds all anhyzer lines.

I got this disc at the MVP tournament in 2015.  This was my go to disc for a year or so, I still like it, but I still struggle to throw this quite hard enough to turn over much as it is around 170 g.  I still use it a lot, but not if I need an anhyzer or S drive.  I use my DX destroyer more if the weather is calm (it is too light for wind).

I am really liking the MVP Relay. The one I have is the Circuit edition in a light purple (lavender?) neutron plastic and weighs in at around 172g. It flies like it is the little brother to my MVP Amp. It has fit right in as the understable complement of my Clash-Crave-Relay shorter fairway driver combo.

I find that I can give it a bit of hyzer and throw it pretty straight, and get it out to about 300', without that much effort, but still with good control. It can be overpowered and turned over if you want to, but it isn't as flippy as a Theory - more like a Tangent on the flippiness scale. I find it helpful for straight shots where a midrange could work, but I might try too hard for distance and lose control.

It's not a wind fighter - but hey, that's why I have the Crave and the Clash in my bag. I would say it is something like an Innova Leopard , but maybe just a little less stable and a little less fade. The neutron plastic feels nice and the disc fits perfectly in my hand.

I'm really happy with the Relay and I'm finding myself reaching for it often, as it handles so many shots with control and minimal effort. I should note that I used to have an Axiom Inspire which I had hoped would cover my understable short fairway shots, but I didn't like it and traded it away. It was not understable enough for me and it seemed to need a lot of power to do a shot that ended up S-ing too widely, instead of going straight, and it was not getting enough distance for the effort. The Relay, however, holds a straight shot and gets the distance I need. For me it's what I had wanted the Inspire to be.

If you're looking for an controllable understable fairway driver, the Relay is worth checking out!

I will be honest here, I absolutely hated the relay. I got it in the MVP circuit and got almost all pars on a course where I want to be shooting 6-10 under par. It didn't matter how softly I threw the disc, I just could not get it to fly anywhere near where I wanted it to. It was just too volatile of a disc. It would consistently DUMP out anhyzer with any power whatsoever, and I had many accidental rollers that happened from very soft throws.

The only reason I didn't give this disc 1 star is because I threw a sick cut roller to get a 2 on a very hard par 3.

I would suggest this disc for anyone that can't throw anything straight or have very little to no power whatsoever. With more power applied to the disc, it becomes extremely understable and unreliable.

Got this in a Circuit tourney.  This is my first year throwing and even I can overpower this disc pretty easy.  But at 75% power and flat, this baby glides out nice with almost no fade.  With more power or anny angle, you can get a nice turnover or roller pretty easy--very nice for new players who maybe don't have a reliable flick shot(me)  yet.

I got this disc at a Circuit tourney a few months ago ,and loved it from the first throw . only using the discs they provided got me really familiar with the disc quickly . Very beginner friendly ,and usefull for many shots . It handles the wind well with a very predictable flight path . I have a medium strength arm ,and found it to turn a little too much ,but when I backed off on the power to 75% -80% that is when the MAGIC happened !!  The neutron plastic really feels great ,and handles the punishment of tree love . I recommend it for any GYRO fan ,or just someone looking for a great addition to your bag .

Picked this up at a circuit event this past summer and at first was not to sure about the disc. It was more overstable than expected. I put it to the side for awhile and would only bring it out sporadically. I took it on a trip with me and played numerous rounds with it. As this disk started to wear in, it became a go to disk for me. I can get effortless distance and accuracy considering it is only a speed 6 driver. I now reach for it for short control drives and upshots.

Edited 3/27/16: This became to unpredictable as my arm speed increased and the disc wore in. Stopped carrying this disc, but for someone picking up the game this could be a good first driver.
