The Wave is the second wide-rimmed, high-speed distance driver released in the MVP line. This disc is moderately stable and described as a longer Inertia. For high-speed throws, the Wave will exhibit long gliding turnovers and hyzer flips. Low-power players will find the Neutron Wave to be overstable, but useable for a variety of different shots.

I've got a noodle arm, usually top out at about 280', and this is the singular best distance driver I've ever thrown and it isn't close. I have a 154g Fission Wave, and the lightweight actually allows my wimpy arm to make the disc behave like it's supposed to. I regularly throw it over 300' on flat ground, with an occasional bomb for me that goes 325+ and I get a perfect Hyzer flip S curve that is way more controllable than other lightweight, flippy discs I've thrown. This is my reliably flippy baby.

Bought a Fission Wave after seeing a friend of mine bombing during one of our rounds. Now I have 3 in various weights and it's an absolute cheat code of a disc. I average 375' field power but I've had the Fission Wave go 410'+ multiple times with a 437' max. 170g+ will hyzer flip to flat and continue a smooth turn before a gentle fade. 150-160g will stay turning the entire flight unless thrown on a big hyzer or high. Very versatile bomber of a disc.

The only negative is that the fission plastic beats in fairly quickly so be ready to get a rotation of these in your bag once you fall in love.

I'm enjyoing this disk but I don't yet have the arm speed to get the most out of it. It feels great in the hand and acts very overstable with my throw. I'm looking forward to working with it more as I improve but for now I mostly use it for holes where I need a strong fade.

Good disc. I consider myself to have above avg power. These distances are outrageous. Slow speed is reaching 400 not a chance. Subtract 50ft from anything on this site.

My go-to driver these days. Goes further than any other disc I can throw. I can rely on it for a flat, stable, slight s curve, RHBH...excellent for the woods. It's also excellent if I try a spike hyzer style throw, maintaining the line all the way through. And recently, I've started throwing it with an anhyzer angle and getting it to hold and finish right. So it sort of does it all! I recommend the fission plastic.

Bag a 160 fission wave. One of the few discs that gives you extra distance just buy buying a new disc.  For those looking to break out from 9 speeds to faster drivers - it is very beginner friendly.  In a light weight - it's still true to the numbers and extremely easy to obtain longer distances with

When my son lost the Destroyer from my starter set, I looked for some good deals on slightly slower speed discs to replace it, and bought a pair of lightly used Fission Waves. They instantly became the crux of my disc golf rounds! Very pleased with them. They were two different weights: 150g, and 16?g (this one later went missing from my bag after a round in Spanish Fork, UT, and I don't remember the weight). The lighter one was my go-to max-distance driver if not too windy; the other gave me my most consistent flight path -- a long straight shot, with very reliable fade. The lighter one also started out that way (it would just fly farther), but it got beat in more quickly and then started yielding some really nice, long S-curve drives. It's a bit too beat-in now and it's hard to find the right hyzer release to keep it from flipping over too far when thrown with any real zip; and I've really missed the other that disappeared (bright green; name & phone # on the back, if someone finds it!), so I got a variety of drivers to see if I could find good alternatives. I've done OK with some of them, but finally picked up four new Waves recently (a couple in Proton plastic) in different weights to help get that old consistency back.  :  )   Maybe there's something to be said, then, for the "gyro technology".

This review is for a 161g fission Wave. I don't throw with a ton of power due to an old shoulder injury. So I rely on form on finesse. The Wave has met my expectations and then some. I typically throw 168g star Terns, but this Wave is about to take that spot in my bag. I get a beautiful S curve and max distance. I can get about 350ft on about 70% power. And was pushing 440ft on some downhill shots. Granted this was on a calm day. I would most likely not throw this disc into a headwind or side wind. I like the feel of the rim and it releases pretty easy.  About to get a second one for a backup.

Fission Wave 158g has so much glide. It has a lot of forward fade. If there is minimal wind play, this is by far my go to disc for max control distance.

Glide, glide, glide. This disc just refuses to come down before hitting maximum distance. For anyone looking to easily break through the 300-foot barrier for the first time, look no farther than the MVP Wave. Slower arm speeds capable of throwing other drivers 275-290 feet will easily start hitting 300-330 feet with a fission Wave in weights between 150-160 grams. You will need to step up the weight and/or plastics as your game progresses but this is the next disc to buy if you've started to see some improvement in your game and want to feel the joy of watching your disc fly much farther than ever before.  I bag three Waves in different weights and plastics which cover just about any wide open maximum distance shot I'd ever need. I love some of my other drivers for specific types of throws, but nothing in my bag ever flies farther than my Waves.

This disc is GREAT for max distance for beginners and intermediate players. For Advanced it will be more flippy. But for someone with 300-450 feet of power. This disc hyzer flips and glides for a really long time. I bag the Fission which is a little more flippy and the Neutron which is a little more stable. It is my go to for max distance on the backhand.

The Wave is one of the better neutral to understable distance drivers on the market. Like most MVP discs it's fairly flat, making it perfect for forehands. I lean on it heavily for hyzer flip forehand shots where I can't get good footing.

The wave is a good hyzer flip distance driver but might be a touch more stable than you would think. I love mine and throw it BH and FH but admit sometimes it can be touchy. Chalk it up to my form I guess but this thing will be great under stable option for ppl with +375' of power. If you can't throw that far it will be much more stable and won't hold the turn.

The Wave is a great disc but it didn't fly as I expected. I bought one when I was throwing around 300ft and it barely turned at all but after some form fixes it flips like crazy with just a small fade near the end. If you're looking for a very understable driver the Wave is probably a good fit.

This was my first ever 11 speed distance driver and it didn't disappoint. The first time I threw it, I instantly set a new personal best in distance. For people with slower arm speeds, you'll get a nice turn for awhile and a decent fade at the end. For people with faster arm speeds, you'll need to throw it on hyzer angle in order to keep it from flipping over too much but should still go a long ways. Overall a great disc and would definitely recommend.

If you get the right release and arm speed this disc will glide forever on it's own. I have had mixed results as I am working it into driving rotation but as I can't reliably put all the pieces together consistently I am getting more practice. The more I do the more I lean towards it when going for shots that have a wide open area to get the full span of flight. If released flat with enough speed this flies beautifully and does all the work for you. Lower arm speeds this will feel simply overstable.

I'm really grooving on this Fission plastic's feel. Soft and grippy. Not like my Elaine King Photon which is pretty firm and almost slick. The Wave takes little power but, good form to eat up easy distance. Mine is 150g so it is reserved mostly for tail wind shots where it gets nice turn and fade matching the flight numbers. I'll try one heavier or in a different plastic for non tailwind situations. This disc is certainly the right tool for the right job.

Great disc for beginners. The fission plastic definitely got my drives another 30ft or more. One of the first discs I learned to hyzer flip. Plastic feels amazing. Only thing if you play alot of rocky courses the mvp and axiom rim gets big nicks and gouges in it. Only reason for the 4 star review.

Somewhere I read, "Just buy one, you won't regret it."  They were correct.  I loved the Fission Wave from the start, but as is the case with all MVP/Axiom discs, the break in period is long and arduous.  This is a good thing by the way, because it means a very, very long amount of time in the" sweet spot".  Finally, my Fission Wave is showing signs of reaching its destined glory.  And it is sweet.  The glide is surreal.  (Mine is 172g, you can get different results by playing with lighter weights as many others have reported on.)  The flight path is similar to that of a longer T-Bird, ideal shape-ability, slight turn with soft but reliable fade.  If you're comfortable throwing 9 speeds and thinking about getting a slightly faster workhorse, Fission Wave could be your Jackson.

Goodness gracious this disc. I bought one on recommendation from someone around my skill level (340ft with 9 speeds) and man the Wave is fantastic. For reference I have one in Fission SE at 162g. I have thrown my farthest drive to date with it at my local course. I didn't measure the distance, but I was in step putt range of a 400ft par 3. The Wave is super comfortable for me and I really love the Fission plastic. The Wave I have is flippy, but not overly flippy. If thrown flat it will get some turn, but will still fight out of it. Hyzers flip up just a bit for me then holds straights and finally starts to fade. The Wave holds an Anhyzer angle nearly all the way, but does start to pan out right at the end to land closer to flat than cut roller angle. Overall, if you're someone with slower arm speed and wants a good distance driver. Then the Wave is right for you.

This is my favorite downwind driver. Don't throw this in a headwind... ever. It is a very flippy disc, though I haven't been able to turn it over enough to roll it. I typically throw 280-300 but with a tail wind have gotten 380 out of this disc. Great for slower arms or beginners.

Got my new Special Edition Fission Wave 173g and threw it around a few times. Here’s what I think!

Physically it’s basically identical to my old 161g Fission Wave. Dome is the same, PLH might be the absolute tiniest bit higher but still pretty much the same. The flight plate is a little softer and grippier than my old Wave. It almost feels like old school Plasma in its flexibility. Texture-wise it feels a lot closer to Neutron than I was expecting, though it still has that signature matte appearance and you can still see the stripes from the microbubbles.

For flight, I would call it pretty true to its 11/5/-2.5/2 numbers. It flies just the tiniest bit more stable than my old 161. I assume this is mostly because of the 12 extra grams. I have to give it a large amount of hyzer or height to get 400+ ft out of it with my backhand without it turning and burning. With my less powerful 300ish forehand, it flies nearly dead straight with a solid fade at the end.

Overall great disc, will definitely be in my bag for a while!

The Wave is a very interesting disc. I grabbed it looking for something a little less stable than the photon but this thing is way less stable. Rating not beginner friendly because I find the disc to be very flippy making it require quite a bit of touch to throw consistently. I ended up having to grab three of them to figure out how to use them but I think it goes like this:

163g Neutron is a pretty easy to backhand hyzerflip but sometimes it ends up being a little too stable. Thrown flat on a backhand it is pretty finicky and will often turnover so it is very difficult to get just the right amount of anny on it. What this one is amazing for is a forehand hyzerflip. Something about MVP discs is that when you flip them up they just ride and a forehand hyzerflip with this is no exception. I normally throw the photon forehand and that's about 300feet. This on a forehand flip is about 325 and easy.

151 Fission is insanely understable. Suffers from the same difficulty of putting enough power behind it to flip it but in this case to not turn it over. I like this fission for massively high backhand turnovers or for easy distance when your arm is tired. I would call this 151 Fission something like a speed 7 and that is not hyperbole. Also use this for a roller.

173g Fission is perfect. It hits the flightpath as intended. Can backhand hyzerflip without turning it over. Forehand hyzerflip is a little touchy and usually does not stand up. Great for a confident max power backhand with a bit of forgiveness.

All three are particuarly glidey with a nice fade at the end.

I have a very lightweight Fission Wave (158g) and a 168g ordered from here on Infinite.  The 158 kind of turns and burns, but the 168g flips up smooth and glides for days.  Really a fan of how this one flies in the slightly heavier weight.

I will say, the fission plastic is a tiny bit...plastic-y(?) in that is has an interesting texture compared to other discs I've thrown.

Overall, I really like this one, and would recommend it to people looking for a smooth hyzer-flip disc that can glide for a good distance.

Bought one of these in Plasma plastic at a local store and first time I threw it I was in love.  I then went onto Infinite and bought another one in Fission as the Plasma one is too pretty to throw.  This is instantly turning into one of my favorite, go-to discs.  This flies super far for me and I can get a good S-curve flight out of it.  Definitely recommend if you are a beginner to intermediate.  I would consider myself intermediate right now and this is an excellent disc. Overall, I've been very happy with MVP in general.

I use two Waves: a fission 166g and a Neutron 172g. In the hand the fission wave feels heavy even though it's not, kind of interesting, maybe due to the overmold tech.

The Wave flies similar to a lower speed version of the Octane or a more flippy version of the Photon for me.

For big throws the fission Wave will exhibit a huge turn before it slowly starts fading back. I find that I really need to trust the hyzer flip to get the smaller turn that I want out of it so that it comes back on the same line.

The neutron Wave does the same thing but just not so much. I find fission plastic to be a lot flippier (is that a word?) than any other MVP plastic except Electron.

The fission Wave is great for low ceiling shots, it just turns and glides and fades and does kind of what you want. Sometimes it feels like a higher speed Axiom Virus. I'm thinking I could do a low ceiling roller shot with my fission Wave if I wanted.

The neutron Wave is more stable, and not just because it's heavier, It still has a good solid turn but not nearly as much as the fission plastic.

I had an Inertia in the bag for a while (I found it in a river) but I've replaced it with my Waves because the Inertia was way way too flippy in all the wrong ways. If I want a back hand understable roller or grenade flex, I use my max weight Orbital.

I think the Wave in fission plastic would be a good entry level high speed driver for beginners who are figuring out how to get some snap in their throws. The Wave or the Insanity are great entry level higher speed drivers. However if you can't throw a Axiom Crave or Streamline Drift correctly (slightly more stable leapord style discs) then the Wave isn't for you, at least not yet.

I think the numbers are spot on for the Neutron Wave, but for the fission Wave I'd bump the turn up to near 3 and the fade to a little below 2.

This is a disc I'd recommend giving a try if you like 11 speed discs. It will fill that slot where you need some controllable turn then fade back.

My favorite shot with this is to start on a hyzer line to get some left movement, then let it flip up and start turning before it starts fading again. It's a beautiful long range "S" shape perfect for those long forest fairways.
