The Stag is an overstable fairway driver in the Westside line. This disc is excellent for controlled fairway drives for both backhand and forehand throws. The Stag isn’t the fastest disc (speed 8), but has a very comfortable, moderate rim of 1.9cm and gets the distance with impressive glide.

I bought a Stag before Westside altered their numbers, and I was hoping for a disc that would hold a forced anhyzer and flatten out to avoid rolling without fading back. What I got was a surprisingly understable disc, way more understable than the 8/6/0/3 that used to be stamped. I think the new numbers of 8/6/-1/2 are definitely more accurate, but still a little off. I would not give the Stag any more glide than something like an Escape. I still don't think it's quite as neutral as the -1/2 turn/fade. I would say it is probably closest to a faster, glidier Maverick with the glide making it just a tad more squirrely than the Maverick.

I've been throwing Stags and my main fairway driver for nearly 4 years now. My power has improved, my form has cleaned up a lot and still it remains a go to. The Tournament and Recycled ones I use a good bit and they always seem to fly well for me as long as there is not a big headwind. The thing with Stags is the plastic rarely affects the flight the same way it will with other discs, you really have to pay attention to the wing shape.

I've had some in VIP and TP that are so understable that they have a lot of turn and no fade at all similar to a beat up sidewinder, and I don't like those. You can ID them by a very low outer wing. If i happen to get these online then they usually end up being given to lower power players as they are great discs for them.

The best ones have the wing dead in the middle of the outer area, with a similar height of steady symmetrical dome going up, and wing below going down. These while still less stable than the flight numbers fly just like the Infinite numbers listed 8/6/-1/2 and can absolutely bomb for a disc that isn't that fast.

I can hit good lines with them up into the 380-390 range accurately and without the effort that a wider rimmed disc would usually take. They can handle some amount of wind, but like I said earlier they can become really flippy in heavy head or cross winds.

One other thing that it does for me is that it can let you know when your form is a little off as well. If my Stags are getting overcooked and turning over in normal conditions, I know to look where my hips and wrist are. If it's fading out too soon, it's usually because the nose got up or my angle was sloppy. So it's over all a really good form check as well as one of the most underrated fairway drivers on the market.

This disc is a favorite of mine for how nice the shot shaping is. The turn is hardly noticeable when new, but once the disc gets broken in, it will become your best friend for how versatile it is.

Feels very good in the hand, and doesn't require a ton of speed to work optimally.

The Westside Tournament and VIP Stag have become staples in my bag and my go-to control/ fairway drivers (and they're surprisingly, somewhat beginner friendly). First off, I would like to say that the flight path for a lot of Westside discs aren't always the most accurate description of the disc itself. Obviously, flight paths are, essentially, just guidelines for the golfers to gauge a little bit of the disc before the decision to buy. However, when I bought my two Stags, I was expecting them to be fairly overstable. But, when I received them and took them out for a test flight, I was able to flip up my VIP Stag to the right (RHBH) and then back to straight with a slight fade at the end. So, my main problem with this disc is that it's not as overstable as I was hoping and as advertised. Also, I really love the rim size and the feel of it in my hands. I'm able to get a really comfortable grip on the disc and I can get big drivers out of it. Overall, it's an extremely straight disc that you can crank for 200-300 ft. (depending on form and skill level) and I could even see beginners getting this disc 100+ ft. It's a really good disc and I'm very happy that I bought one in the VIP plastic and one in the Tournament plastic because both feel really great. The Westside Stag should definitely be looked at if you're in need of a really straight control.

Found this disc in the water at my local course and gave it a try.  Absolutely fell in love with it.  Great glide easy to grip and accurate.  Just don't trust the flight numbers.  This is not an 8 6 0 3, it's more like an 8 6 -1 2.  So if you want a meat hook disc, look elsewhere.  It's a great beginner disc though for those not ready with the arm speed for distance drivers but still want distance and accuracy.  I personally use it off the tee but don't really use it on the fairway.

Absolutely love this disc.  Got a used one that was already beat in which helped me gain confidence with my backhand throws.   Just note it is not quite a "0" stability (once worn in at least).  I wouldn't throw this with anything other than a tail wind or moderate/light cross wind.   This disc is extremely shapeable for flex shots, but you do have to be careful not to flip it.

When I first got my Stag I was pretty happy with how it flew and its consistency. The problem is once it broke in after about a month, the disc tended to be pretty flippy and not very consistent. While at one point I could count on it for very straight shots with a little fade at the end, I found it flipping too much or not enough and ending up in places I would rather not be. It found its way out of my bag pretty quickly after that. The numbers on the disc don't match the flight, but that is pretty consistent of Westside discs. For something closer to the numbers, consider a Saint or Longbowman.

TP 166. I got my TP stag to compliment my VIP stag and it did exactly that at first. Originally, the TP has similar, great, straight flight, but it was slightly more understable then my VIP. However, it weirdly broke in to be more overstable and it stopped having any turn at all. I think this was a fluke and I'd like to try another because I loved the flight it had when I first got it.

I love this disc. It has amazing glide and a very straight flight with just a touch of mellow fade as it begins to slow down. It is not a very fast disc but makes up for the lack of speed with its glide and controlability.  I use this disc alot for tunnel shots.

My Stag is a 176g tournament. I like the higher weight because it is fairly neutral stability and the weight helps it from getting tossed around too much in light winds. I would not recommend this disc on very windy days.

Wonderful disc. With my slightly slower arm, it's my go to off the tee for almost everything. super straight flyer with nice, predictable fade. Definitely a must have.

So I got this disc (174g TP) and was really excited to throw it. I love all of the Westside discs I own (Sword and Warship) and was very excited to try out their stable fairway driver. I'll start as I always do by saying I tend to throw with a lot of power. As most people have stated that this disc lives up to its glide rating and will fly when it's put on the right line but I would have to say that I disagree with it's HST and LSF numbers and would rate it more at 8,6,-1,2.

Like others have said I expected this disc to be more stable than it is but when thrown at my full power it tended to turn over slightly and that was very exaggerated when throwing into a headwind. It never turned over completely and always came out to finish in a nice slight fade. I was actually kinda frustrated that it seemed so off of it's advertised flight but decided to keep with it. Over time I found that the bread and butter of this disc for me is it's ability to hyzer flip then stay straight and glide forever with that slight fade at the very end. The hyzer flip was something I didn't expect to have to use with this disc but since using it, it has changed this disc for me, I enjoy it much more now and found that it is way less affected by the wind when thrown with that slight hyzer angle. Pro's: love the Westside Tourney Plastic, glide for days, great distance with little effort Con's: flight is a bit inconsistent depending on the power you put into it.

Overall I like this disc but was hoping for something more, more consistent and more stable. I'm not sure if this disc will make a permanent place in my bag but contrary to another recommendation on here I would recommend this disc for beginners. It gets great distance with little effort and as you grow in power you can learn to hyzer flip this without it turning and burning.

I took my 171g Stag out for a round today and liked the disc, but didn't get out of it what I was expecting. With a turn rating of 0, and fade at 3, I expected this disc to be substantially more over stable, like an Innova Banshee. It wasn't. It was a very windy day, and the wind turned the Stag over on me several times. A big wind gust caught my disc and threw it right into some townhomes. It wasnt until the last hole when the wind died down that I realized I shouldn't be throwing it in the wind. I would say the Stag is a stable flying disc, but not necessarily overstable. I'm excited to try it again on a day that isn't so windy. I can see myself using the Stag when I want something a little more overstable than my Latitude 64 Saint.
