The Griffon is an easy-to-throw, understable midrange disc that is ideal for new players or for anhyzers and shots that you want to finish right. If you're a new player with throws that seem to fade too early every time, a disc like this might help you get that throw straightened out.

NOTE: This disc is PDGA approved under the name "XPT3" or "Grampus"

The Griffon is a pretty solid disc for what you pay. The Basic plastic is nice and soft in my hand, even though it might not be the most durable. If I put some good speed on the disc, I got a nice turn out of it. Throwing it a little slower, the Griffon held a hyzer pretty well and I felt like I could trust it to gently fade where I wanted it. It's not the most understable midrange I've used, but defintely not a bad option for anyone.

Throwing X-Com Basic plastic at 4,400 ft in Utah. To me, 5 stars = incredible disc 4 stars = good & dependable disc. I don't give out too many 5 star ratings.

The Griffon is a pretty solid midrange from X-Com. I really enjoyed throwing the disc. The rim didn't bother me all that much, it fit comfortably in my hand. This is definitely an understable disc. Almost every time I threw this, it almost always ended up to the right. So a real easy disc to get some anhyzer lines on it. This was a really easy hyzerflip disc. I could get it to flip up straight and then go to the right.

Overall I had a lot of fun throwing this. This is definitely a great beginner disc. I think it would be a great disc to learn how to throw hyzerfliips. I would recommend this to any beginner

While the Griffon was definitely more flippy for me (the one I was testing only weighed 150 grams), it could be a great disc for new players. I actually preferred the Eden mid more because of it's rim shape. The Griffon has a steeper, sharper rim that doesn't come off of my fingers quite as nicely as more rounded rims, so that's really my only complaint. It would be nice to see the Griffon in a more durable, premium plastic at some point (and in a max weight) just to see how she really flies!

Wow, this is THE disc for any slow arm speed disc golfers. It is lightweight, flippy, and the plastic does not feel bad at all. For the price, this should be what you hand your new disc golfing friends, kids, or grandma.

For the intermediate thrower like me, there is still some use. I found it fun for throwing soft and having it glide up the fairway straight as can be. If I threw it a little harder, it would round the understable corners with ease. Overall, it's a very fun disc to throw, and I can't wait until grandma gets one in her hands and hits the course with me!

This disc is very flippy! I can throw it at nearly a 45 degree hyzer angle and still have it come out straight with enough spin. It's a little light at 150g, but I use it for all the holes near me that have short anhyzer (RHBH) drives. If you aren't trying to flip this disc, it'll hold any angle you put on it.

The soft plastic feels really good in your hand, but leaves me wondering how long it will last. If I don't lose my Griffon before it gets worn in, I'll update this review to reflect how it holds up over time. However, it fills an important hole in my bag and I'm confident that I'll have a place for it for a long time.

I absolutely love the X-Com Discs Griffon. This disc flies so straight and just doesn't fade at the end of the flight. It looks like it's only available in the light weight 150 gram weight, which is perfect for beginners.

This disc is fantastic for anhyzer turnover throws ie. backhand throws from a right handed player that you want to finish to the right as this disc just maintains the same angle of release the entire flight. As long as you don't throw it with too much power you can get it to turn to the left with a hzyer angle release. With a level release the Griffon is dead straight, and it glides really well!

This is absolutely one of the best discs on the market for beginners. It has a super neutral flight, and best of all it is one of the least expensive golf discs available so you don't feel bad if you lose it. While the disc itself is cheap, the baseline plastic used by X-Com is very good. It has an excellent feel and is a bit softer than Innova DX. The durability of X-Com basic is very adequate, much better than than base plastic versions of other budget disc brands.
