The Zion driver is a general-purpose distance driver that can be thrown by beginner to intermediate players with great results. There's enough stability to handle moderate power and it works great for flex shots that take an S-curve path across the fairway.

NOTE: This disc mold is PDGA approved as the "XPT5" or "Volador"

Great feel in hand, glides for days, absolute bomber. Plastic feels really durable for being base. Great for what it is, and combined with the price and availability, has to be 5 stars.

Edit: After about a month of use, this thing has lost pretty much all stability. Too bad, really thought the plastic would last longer.

I got this as part of a mystery box from infinite. I like the flight of this thing out of the box. Mostly a straight shooter and carried a lot of distance for my average arm. I found it more understable than advertised, so it took a bit of a hyzer flip to get down the fairway. I play in mostly a rocky, desert area and the cheap plastic hardly lasted a round. That cheap innova/infinite plastic is terrible in the rocks and boulders. Basically a waste of money. But if you play in more lush, grassy areas, it's worth a look.

This Driver is a trip! It has one heck of a bead that really puts it more on the mid-range end until you throw it. Wow! I can get just a bit of turn out of it. Does it ever fly straight. One should definitely be able to find a place for this disc in their bag.

This is a great disc to learn on that will carry over with you as you learn.

Throwing XCom Basic plastic at 4,400 ft in Utah. To me, 5 stars = incredible disc 4 stars = good & dependable disc. I don't give out too many 5 star ratings.

I really enjoyed the Zion Driver. Its rim is fairly comfortable for my hands, the plastic feels a little bit better than DX or Pro-D plastic to me.

Throwing this is pretty easy to do. I have found very successful drives by throwing hyzer flips, or throwing it flat I'll end pretty far right. The hyzer flip throws tend to be fairly straight for me with a little curve to the right and a good fade back to left. Throwing the disc flat results in hardly any fade for me (all RHBH).

I would definitely recommend this dis to all beginners. It gives a good idea of what throwing distance driver feels like without being to difficult of a disc to throw.

I really loved throwing the Zion by XCom. While in base plastic (no premium plastic blend was available at the time of this review), it still handled the course well. You can really put some heat on this disc and get a great s-curve flight. It has enough stability to handle throws for intermediate / experienced players for maximum distance. I watched my son really crank on it and got it 400 feet, which I didn't expect from a budget disc. This could be a go-to driver for a lot of players, though it might be just a bit overstable for the very new players. This and the Bennu putter were my favorites from the initial XCom line.

Wow, this disc was an unexpected bomber. In base plastic, I just didn't think it would go that far or glide that well- but it sure did. When thrown full power at a slight hyzer angle, this thing flips up and coasts right for a lot of the flight. Eventually it fades out with some strength, but the forward glide just kept it going forever. I think the numbers are spot on- except I'll give it a 5 glide for how far it seemed to fall forward.

It's a fairly flat disc with a sharper style of rim, but the speed 10 rim fits really well in the hand. It went just as far as my "big boy" speed 12/13 drivers, and it felt even better in the hand. Overall a great disc for an intermediate and above arm. If you are a beginner, it'll still work as an straight to overstable driver, which still does have great use.

The Zion turns hyzer reliably, though it is not impossible to get a full anhyzer flight out of it. If I throw just a flex shot, it can glide for days! However, if the angle is not perfect as it fades, the edge can catch the air and seem to accelerate the disc's turn into the ground.

As a newer player, I am having difficulty putting exactly the right amount of speed on the Zion. This isn't a disc that you can just throw as hard as you want; even at 170g, it isn't a disc that can be muscled through. If I try to max-power the Zion, my arm often feels noodle-y. It's a similar feeling to throwing a baseball, only to have it come out of your hand on the windup and following through at full speed with an empty hand.

If you get close to the right speed and angle, the Zion is very reliable. Taking power off this disc, I feel that I can place it anywhere within my ~330' driving range. Its turn allows you to reach around obstacles, but doesn't cause your disc to make a sharp angle into the ground. The Zion has a place in my bag for now, though it may not be the most versatile disc.

The Zion is a solid stable/overstable driver and makes for a good compliment to the other discs in the XCom line. While the Helios driver is understable, the Zion will fade hard at the end of the flight. This disc is stable enough that it works well for both backhand and forehand throws. The Zion has a thin profile, thin inner rim, and a mostly flat top. This is not a very glidey driver, and I can actually get more distance out of the Helios for backhand throws, but this is the XCom disc I reach for when I need a big fade in one direction or another at the end of the flight.

While I don't normally recommend a base plastic for a driver, this is currently the only plastic that the Zion is available in. When it comes to base plastics, XCom's is a good one and is more durable than many. This disc won't last a long time, but I have successfully made it through several full disc golf rounds without major damage.

If you're looking for a stable disc at a budget price, or just want to try out a new brand of disc golf discs, consider the Zion.
