The Zion driver is a general-purpose distance driver that can be thrown by beginner to intermediate players with great results. There's enough stability to handle moderate power and it works great for flex shots that take an S-curve path across the fairway.

NOTE: This disc mold is PDGA approved as the "XPT5" or "Volador"

Field work with the Zion together with the Discraft Undertaker and the Thought Space Construct showed this to be really very similar to the Undertaker, or perhaps in between the two (though closer to the Undertaker). I got this in the higher-grade, U-line Durable plastic, so hopefully it will last better for me than it sounds like the base plastic discs have for other reviewers. So far so good. It feels good to me and releases pretty cleanly, though it's a bit more domey that some similar discs and that makes it a bit trickier for me to release it on the level I want. The speed/stability are probably a bit much for a beginning player, but it's a good disc and they could work up to it. I found that I preferred the feel and flight (and farther distance) of the higher-glide Construct, though that one picked up rather inexplicably a hairline fracture after an hour or so of testing on a soft, slightly wet grassy field; the Zion actually got popped up and careened down harder at times than did the Construct, but it seems none the worse off.
