Same flight numbers as a Wraith, but don't be fooled. In my experience this disc flies more overstable. That being said, it can fill that overstable distance driver slot in your bag excellently. It's also relatively flat, so great for forehands as well!

For some context I'm at 4,300 feet elevation and throw around 500.

I've recently started bagging a lot of MVP/Axiom and I was hoping it would fly more like a wraith or grace when that's just not the case at all. I heard a lot of good things about this disc and I was genuinely disappointed in it.

The rim is an odd shape and is not comfortable on forehand or backhand. It's slightly concave and doesn't feel right. It's not the kind of feel you expect from a distance driver rim.

In both Fission and Neutron plastic it's substantially more overstable than the numbers suggest. It really flew like a longer fireball or firebird for me. There was no hint of flip up and very low glide.

The Streamline Trace or MVP Photon are just better options for this slot. The defy acts more like an overstable utility disc that a controllable distance driver.

One of my favorites in the MVP/Axiom line up. If you don't have the arm for 12-13 speeds, this could be the disc for you. It is super reliable, handles torque and will always fade at the end. Not sure why this isn't more popular.

I mostly throw MVP/Axiom discs and despite the main summary above, I would not describe the Defy as a heavily seasoned MVP Photon or a longer Axiom Crave. As an intermediate player expecting to get 325+ feet out of good drives, I'd say the Defy is much shorter and way more stable than a seasoned MVP Photon (or new Photon for that matter) and not even close to being as long as the Axiom Crave, despite the Crave being rated at less than 7 speed.

Unless you're already throwing high speed discs 350+ feet, I'd strongly recommend that you purchase an MVP Photon Fission or an Axiom Crave instead.  The Defy will be a shortish meathook unless you're already turning over the Photon to the point that you consider it to be understable. The Crave is in a completely different category but will almost certainly fly farther and straighter in most hands than the Defy.

I absolutely love this disc.  I can count on it's performance everytime.  Dead straight with a nice fade.  It feels so good when it comes out of your hand with that nice snap of your fingers dislodging from the plastic.  It has been super durable and my distance has been getting better and better using this disc.  Started off around 300'.  Now that I am getting my nose down situation fixed, 350 is an easily obtainable distance.

I like this company so much, I will be switching out most of my discs for Axiom discs.

I have to lead by saying, the inbounds flight path graphic and the description (specifically that this is a disc for intermediates) is WAY off. I'm really wondering if I just got a very stable run or something, but it seems others are saying simiilar things.

This is a very useful disc for someone who can throw in the 375-425 range, especially if you want a smaller rim when you do it. My version was given to my by an intermediate level friend of mine because it was "too stable" for him (neutron plastic even), and I fell in love it because it carries straight for a very long time before a late fade you can always count on, a combination I prize. Even into a moderate headwind (mind you I'm at 3200ft altitude so your milage may vary), this disc just carries straight. This is still a disc I would bring down to tournaments at lower altitudes, and just add a touch of hyzer to compensate for any immediate turn, at which point it would probably go 400 ft on a frozen rope once beat in I would imagine. At home if I am throwing into a strong head wind and need extra distance, I can hyzer flip it and it will stand up to the wind really well, never turn and burn. It has a pretty flat profile, and is very aerodynamic, so it cuts into wind well. Inversely though when there's no wind at all, it's still a go to disc to throw a long straight hyzer in the 375 ft range.

To give this disc some context, I organize my bag by stability and it fits in between 2 star destroyers, less turn than a very beat in old avery jenkins but much straighter than a very stable mcbeth run I use for strong head winds. It's also more stable than my beat in Prodiscus ultrium slaidi (12/5/0/3), which I chock up to the resiliency of the overmold vs the softness of ultrium,

Definitely a great disc for an advanced/open player in my opinion, who wants a disc that doesn't turn, but waits until really late in the flight to fade. If you are throwing it under 350 ft, this could be good as a go to headwind disc. Under 300, this is probably not for you.

I threw this disc in the low 160g's and found that it had no turn. It works great for holdings the line and fading out however since it was made for some turn it flips in the wind. I used it in a field to test for several days, my strongest throws and nose down never produced any turn without forcing it over or wind.

If you need a long shot that holds and fades hard late, this disc works great. Provided there is no wind. If you got a super strong shot you can probably get some fade but it will be minimal I would assume as the one I threw was used and beat in.

I'm just gonna be honest... this is too much disc for me. At one point I bagged a Defy because of the sweet stamp I had on it, but it never really got pulled out for flight unless it was super windy or I needed a short shot with a ton of fade.  Great for a good skip or to fight the wind but if you play at intermediate like I do, you probably need to step back down to something a little less overstable. And if you are in intermediate and are getting nice long full flex lines with it without a ton of anny... then it's time for you to step up bagger. Haha! No, really though, this thing is super overstable. Advanced level players and Pros would love this one! Maybe one day I will grow up and Defy all odds and be able to bag one of these.

When I got this disc my arm speed was not quite ready for it and so I never got to truley enjoy the full potential of this disc. I had some success flicking it and could get +300ft out of it at the time, but to me it just didn't fit my armspeed and style of playing back then. Now that I have had time to develop my game a bit I wouldn't mind giving this disc another shot. However, I am really happy with the bag that I have and don't see any reason to change it up. But if you are a player with moderate to good armspeed give this disc a chance, I am sure you'll be able to get more out of it than I ever did.

The Defy is not for me. In 174g, this disc is way too overstable for my for backhand throws. For forehand throws with the right touch I can get some good distance out of it, but it's much too sensitive. If I don't get my forehand release just right  it turns left and doesn't come back. This doesn't mean that the Defy is a bad disc for everyone, but it's certainly one that has no place in my cart.

So I got out to test the DEFY in a field. I threw it with a Katana, King, D3, Trespass, and Outlaw.
    I had a 174g Neutron defy

i rate the Defy as 11/4/-0.5/2 (but with a late late hard hyzer fade) . It had more High speed stability than I was expecting, but that was a good thing. The D3 was similar in flight, but the Defy would hold a line like a bullet then have that late fade.
Overall its a nice disc, doesnt feel the BEST in the hand as the rim is fairly sharp but the Neutron plastic is great, the disc is Flat as a board.
It was more stable at high speed than the Trespass, King and Katana but this was only with a very strong throw. I was hitting about the same distance with exceptions on the katana and king that are a wider rim and had much more lateral movement.

Defy can be lasered straight then have a confident hyzer end. It can be anhyzered and will hold about 50% of the flight then break and come back. It is stable. Its not a beefcake but its not flippy. Weights in 165-170 would allow more turn most likely and weights sub 165 would probably soar. I prefer heavier for the control.

The nice thing about it is that it will be straight for most of the flight, the hyzer finish is fairly strong so it doesn't pan out hard, but rather spikes and sits.  So it doesn't get off the mark much.  It would hyzer long and spike.  Handled forehands.  Headwind was no problem. Since the hyzer finish is so strong it may not be the furthest disc I have but it has nice speed and control.  Control for that distance and speed is more important to me than an extra 15-20 ft.

**Update: this disc is awesome.  I still agree its not the MAX D disc, but it has been excellent, fast, stable, straight, reliable fade at the end.  It can handle power and snap and if you leave it off flat it will ride very straight, fitting in those gaps with confidence that you need to execute.  I was able to get 3 shots that were previously much more difficult.  This disc is a keeper

I found the Defy to be a nice straight to overstable disc. I'm not sure how it would hold up in a headwind, but for the conditions I was throwing in today I was able to lay it out straight and trust it to come back left on a right handed backhand shot. I think MVP/Axiom throwers will like the Defy and find it to be a great new addition to the lineup!

I enjoyed throwing the Defy, and I love the limited edition 1616 stamp that Axiom has been using on their recent releases. I feel like the disc is a little more overstable than the numbers indicate. I'd give it more of a 12/5/0/2,  but that is with my less-than-stellar distance capabilities. I wouldn't recommend the Defy to a beginning player, except as an overstable driver that will probably turn earlier than expected without some real power behind it, but when thrown with an anhyzer, it flies a wonderful 3-curve. The Axiom Vanish would probably be a better driver for newer players.  All in all, the Defy is a nice addition to the Axiom line, and I look forward to seeing what else they come up with. Plus, they make some esthetically pleasing discs with the color combinations and stamps.
