I have been throwing an Insanity for as long as I have been throwing backhands and it has always been my go to driver. It simply does everything I want it to do. On hyzer thrown hard it flips up to flat and has a nice fade. On flat it gets a nice S shape. On anhyzer it glides and glides and slowly fights out. I cant remember a single time it has burned over on me also. Goes as far as my distance drivers, and given all the plastics you can get it in you can match it to do whatever you need. Amazing disc that will never leave my bag.

Love the feel of this fairway driver and it is a great hyzer flip to straight disc for hitting those wooded lines for intermediate power arms as well as straight with a little turn for beginners. Would recommend for just about any level.

Currently bagging 4 of these in different weights, plastics and levels of wear. It's my favorite mold. Extremely workable on hyzer, flat, and anny. Highly recommended!

One of my favorite disc to throw just because is feels so well in my hands throughout the throw. With my slower arm speed and smaller hands, the insanity kicked a lot of discs out of bag for a max weight disc on backhand.

The eclipse 2.0 Halloween version is OS 9/4.5/-1/3. It's the insanity I rely on in the wind or if I need a hard guarantee fade. This is OS.

The Proton with sparkles but opaque rim version 9/5.5/-2.5/2 can turn more on me and get some nice S lines with a more forward fade. By far my furthest flying insanity.

The Neutron version 9/5/-1.5/2 I use for hazard shots, predictable turn with predictable fade.

I don't bag the Plasma version. Which ended up being a more stable Neutron for me. Or the Fission which in lighters weights had an unpredictable turn for me or in the max weight flew like a brand new Neuron.

    I'M IN LOVE!!!

This Disc is truly incredible! I've thrown a Latitude 64 Sapphire since I started playing disc golf, and this disc could potentially be replacing it! I genuinely feel as if I can get the same exact flight while throwing it a touch further; maybe consistently about 15 feet. My max distance with my "big boy" drivers is about 400ft (an absolute crush), but I can throw both the sapphire and the insanity about 350ft. It's just such easy, effortless distance. I can give these a fare amount of juice without feeling like I'm mashing down on my dedicated distance drivers. Truly a special flight, and my eclipse insanity is a perfect compliment as a more overstable version. I've beaten it in to where it may flip up a touch, but it's reliably straight with that finish that you want. The neutron version will reliably flip over, and have a perfect flex. My sapphire is more likely to flip and ride out its flight, but pan to flat by the end.

My first Axiom disc was the Pyro, which I loved. Then I picked up an Insanity on a whim, and fell in love with it as my primary driver. I bag two neutron Insanities, one that's fairly beaten in, and one that's a bit newer. I get a super consistent flip-to-flat with barely any fade at the end with my beat up one, and I can throw the newer one flat (or on a hyzer in the wind) and get a nice (~270ft) shot. Overall this thing is just stupid consistent and very forgiving for weaker arms.

The Proton is a bit newer for me, but I have noticed it seems to fade even less than the neutron, but is a bit harder to turn over. I'd imagine it'll get flippier as I beat it in, but I'm really liking it as an option if I'm worried that the fade might be too much on the neutron.

For an beginner, this is gonna be a great stable driver to graduate to after your starter pack driver gets lost. For me, it's the perfect compliment to my thunderbird for straight shots or shots I need to finish right. More advanced players may find this a bit too flippy, but even then it could probably find a spot in your bag as a flip-to-flat that finishes right (RHBH) for shorter holes.

TLDR: Someone forgot to tell the insanity that it isn't a max distance driver. Flat top with a much smaller rim/wing than most other 9 speeds. Fairly accurate to flight numbers, and is probably the best feeling driver in my hand. I try to replace it sometimes, but it hasn't left the bag since I got my first one.

Feel: Flat top, smaller wing/rim, not too shallow for big hands. Neutron plastic to me is just updated, advanced innova star plastic. Some of the best plastic in the game. The insanity feels 10/10 both FH and BH.

Flight: I've got about 8 insanitys in the shelf right now, because I myself am insane. That being said, I've got them in literally every plastic ever produced by axiom. It's rated a 9 speed, but it's much closer to a 10 speed. My max weight prism plastic insanity is like a faster, more glidey thunderbird. I'd call it 10 5 -1 2. On the other hand, I've got a 156g neutron insanity that flips pretty hard. Lets call that one 10 6 -3 1. When I'm in a wooded situation or have a gap to hit but I need max distance, that's when the insanity comes out.

This is a rare disc that can fit 3 different spots for 3 different arm speeds. It's never too overstable for beginners, but it's not so flippy as to be unusable by power throwers.

The flight ratings are really spot on with this disc. Throw this disc on a flat release (RHBH) and watch it just ever so slightly turn to the right and keep on that same angle till it hits the ground. The consistency of the flight path on this disc is amazing. I find it to be one of the most forgiving discs I have on release angles. Even if I intended to throw a flat release and instead realsed on a slight hyzer by accident, it still flips up and turns ever so slighty to the right. Even on minor release mistakes, this disc makes you look like you know what your doing because it does the flight path that it is supposed to.

I used to throw RHFH a lot. This throwing style really played well for me on 300-400ft holes that turned to the right. Unfortunately my shoulder and elbow started giving me problems so I have had to figure out how to get forearm type distance throws by throwing back hand. This is by far the best disc I have used to date that can get me those traditional forehand lines while throwing backhand.

I'll start off by saying that I love this disc, but it most definitely took some getting used to but after the initial "get to know eachother phase" I can launch this thing 350ft rhfh but you have to release it flawlessl and with a pretty good amount of power. If you mess up your release or the power you will send it careening to the left or it will nose dive right into the dirt and you will not be happy my friends! I have used it as an overhand disc on occasion, when I didnt feel like busting out the firebird, and it will definitely flip over on a thumber shot but beware of trying to throw tomahawks with it unless you can throw hard. I literally have to throw it as hard as I can to get to flip for a tomahawk shot and I have a stronger arm than most in that department but overall a solid disc for intermediate and advanced players! I will update my review once I get some rhbh shots in with it.

Fantastic Axiom disc. I bought it to replace my MVP Inertia, and this disc is a little bit straighter. With 300-325 feet of arm speed, this disc flies straight with a consistent fade at the end, and nearly turns over (you probably could turn it over if you wanted to.) This is the best disc I have as far as far flying + consistency goes. I just purchased an Axiom Wrath as an over stable complement.

This disc has a smaller rim and it feels very comfortable in the hand. As far as the GYRO goes, I am partial to the over mold rather than a regular disc. I would assume that if you are looking at this disc, you probably already have an opinion on GYRO.

Overall, buying this disc will not disappoint! You are getting a reliable, straight disc that is a hallmark of the Axiom lineup!

    Updated 02/2022:

I have these in both proton, eclipse, and cosmic neutron.

For starters, I feel like they're faster than a true 9 speed, and definitely get more distance than any other 9 speed I've thrown. The proton are a sneaky bomber that I've pushed out to around 350ish.

Overall a good disc. The eclipse is more like a 9/5/0/2 but is easily the most predictable of the bunch as a result. Proton was my favorite overall.

I no longer bag the Insanity. It's probably my favorite understable 9 speed, but I've come to dislike that whole bag slot. Like with the others, I find it difficult to find the goldilocks zone of power to get the desired flight path. The Insanity is also a bit angle sensitive, so it's easy to either turn it over or get no turn if your release isn't clean.

The Axiom Insanity is a by the numbers bomber disc. The 2cm rim on this disc is in the money zone for me and fits my hands great for all grips. I feel like the advertised "speed 11" might be a bit inaccurate as it honestly feels around the same size as most companies speed 9-10's and doesn't seem to cover airspace much quicker either to warrant the speed 11 to me this disc feels and behaves more like a long fairway driver than a max distance driver. My test subject is 174g in neutron plastic with a reasonably flat profile to it. The Insanity is understable, but it is surprisingly controllable. This disc excels when you have open airspace to work with and can just go a mile with very little effort. For distance shots with moderate armspeed throwing this disc on hyzer allows it to flip to flat reasonably quick and start turning over. Flat releases with this disc need to be thrown high to avoid throw-lers but this discs pan is long and its fade is late giving you a good opportunity to cover ground or get this disc finishing right (if your forehand game isn't quite there yet). Sky Anhyzers is what this disc was made for, throw it hard and high and make sure you step out to witness your work because this disc will hold it until the very last second before it flexes out. If given the power and the right angle this disc rolls quite as long as you can get it down with the right cut, this disc on a higher roller (landing more at the 12 o'clock angle) will start working right almost immediately. As far as forehand goes this disc is for those with good touch, you can get this disc out on hyzer and get a very clean turn over with it or you can chop it over into a forehand roller for scrambling. Overhand shots with this disc panned very quickly and did not get too far.

I just started throwing MVP/Axiom not to long ago but I am loving the line of discs from this company. The insanity is a awesome disc for beginner distance drivers or intermediate players. I throw a 171 neutron and I use it for hyzerflips and it just flys straight and it goes sneaky far. Almost topping my max distance which is around 350 ft or so. Thrown flat I can get it to turn a little and stay slightly on the understable side. However I usually use this disc for tighter tunnels or if I have to stay straight on a line. This discs does wonders. I recommend it for everyone especially beginners first distance drivers.

I am starting to love many of the discs from the MVP/Axiom line.

As an old guy with less than impressive arm speed, this is a great disc. When thrown flat you get a nice turnover with a solid finish. When you put in on a hyzer line, it stands up and just goes. It makes for a good roller when you turn it over. This is not a good disc in wind. Reminds me of an old beat in Sidewinder. If you are looking for a driver to hyzer-flip this is a good place to begin.

This is one of the best drivers I've ever thrown. If you had a volt (which I also highly recommend) but it wasn't quite what you wanted than this is for you. It's just a bit faster and a bit more playful. It holds massive anhyzers and flies dead straight with a mild but consistent fade. It's super fun and versatile. I recommend it to anyone wanting a  fairway or short distance driver going for 350+

Just love this disc.  I have been playing for about 5 months and this disc has been incredibly reliable for me.

I would say this disc is stable/understable.  It definitely has some high speed turn with a minimal amount of forward fade on power throws.  If you have a weaker arm this disc will stay straight for 250 feet and fade a little more, but never a lot.

The neutron plastic is very durable and I would know because I have hit many a tree dead on, full power from 20 feet away.  No warping at all.  The only way to damage these is concrete.  If you skid across a path you will see some damage to the outer ring.

Another thing that I enjoy about Axiom discs is that the two tone coloring makes them very easy to spot.  When I first started playing, I lost a lot of discs.  I have yet to lose an Axiom.

I would recommend this as anyone's first distance driver.

I tried a litany of understable discs to find one that would flip up and hold a line without fading too hard or turning over. This was the disc I was looking for. I think there is a misunderstanding when the description refers to it as a worn in Inertia. I was expecting it to be less stable but I found that the Insanity has a similar turn, but less fade. A great understable bomber. GET ONE!

As far as wind performance goes this disc will flip quick into a headwind and probably favors a tailwind if anything but generally the more mild the conditions the better.

This disc is not really geared towards beginners with its larger rim size requiring decent form and control but I would say those with a decent understanding of the game and okay form could see good results with this as a first distance driver.

Overall I really dig the Insanity. It has made my bag as that longer flippy fairway driver and the more I use it the more I adore this disc. I think it is probably one of the best drivers from the Axiom lineup its great versatility and is surprisingly easy to control outright earning this disc a solid 4/5 stars.

***UPDATE*** I picked up a couple Proton Insanity's - They are a shiny translucent core (great tacky feel) high PLH and maw weight.   WOW.  I gotta say I love this disc even more now.  This version flew more stable, but still allows easy turn.  I'd rate them 10/5/-1.5/2 : really nice - so compare flight plates and PLH - but yeah the proton flew awesome -------PS: I heard they retooled the insanity more recently so not sure how things will shake out - its a great mold but finding exactly what you want will depend on plastic, weight, and run (as most discs do)     Plasma insanity's at least one I have is super flippy in comparison.

This is a nice Understable control driver that is rather thin and with a small rim making it easy to hold for most younger players, players with smaller hands, or those just preferring a thinner rim.  I would rate it as a speed 10 - I feel the Innova Wraith is a true speed 11 disc, this rim is much thinner than that. Not to say it isn't fast (because it is) but I think it's pushing it calling it anything faster than 10.  Plasma is more understable where Neutron seems to handle more power before turning.  And of course Weight will matter - based on 173g Plasma I'd rate it 10/5/-3/1  and 175g Neutron 10/5/-2.25/1.5

The flight reminds me of a Roadrunner - On a solid throw it will turn and hold a bit then fade back.  It hyzer-flips very well and stands up - depending on power can still turn over or just hold straight then fade.  Simplest way to describe is a faster roadrunner.   It's a good disc and I bag it.  Very similar to the MVP Inertia - some inertias I have fly almost identical to the max weight neutron Insanity's I have - Of course inertia is supposed to be more stable but they are close.  Insanity is designed to turn over so for most players its a understable control driver where younger/newer players may find their go-to distance driver.   It's a nice disc

I have found this disc to forehand very well for myself. I have a 165g. As for backhand if you are a beginner this will probably go straight a ways and tail off to the right since it is a fairly understable disc. Once you get some good power you can use this for rollers but it seems to work well RHBH as a hyzer flip disc.

Great counterpart to the MVP Inertia, this disc just a little more understable by comparison, and works as a great compliment when you need to stay to the right of the fairway just a little longer, or you need a long range hyzerflip shot.

    Not Insane, But Serviceable

I found the Insanity to be pretty darn understable. It's one of those discs that a player who has lower power, but is experienced, will love. A great choice for older players. On my account, I have just gotten to use to mashing on distance drivers to get much use out of the Insanity. The colors really do pop, though!

There is a lot of turn on the Insanity...a LOT. The weird thing is, unless I really messed up my throw, it would never full turn over into a burner. It would turn, but stay decently flat, and then fade at the end. For it's speed and glide, it is a pretty decent shot shaper. Not a bad choice if you are looking to bump up into actual distance drivers.

My Neutron Insanity is 165g, orange with pink overmold.  This disc is okay, it flies reasonably true to the numbers, but the glide is unexceptional and the overmold does not give a lot more distance than other discs in its speed range.  I personally prefer (and bag) the Krait.

I picked up an Insanity since it was very similar in stats to an MVP inertia which is my primary driver. The Insanity was a great buy for me, it flys slightly more overstand than an MVP inertia. Overall this is a pretty straight flyer and is more overstable then the flight raiting leads to beleive. Can't wait to get the disc broken in alittle more and see how the disc reacts.

This is an insanely good driver. I had to say it. But really, I'm a big fan of the Axiom Insanity. The MVP Inertia is one of my favorite drivers for backhand throws -- laser beam straight with minimal end of flight fade. While the Insanity is described as a "seasoned" Inertia, My brand new white with blue rim 168g Insanity flys like a VERY well seasoned Inertia. This was substantially more understable and than the Inertia, and I'd say it's even more understable than the Impulse I've thrown. I was surprised with how well this disc actually glided too. MVP/Axiom discs aren't exactly the farthest gliding discs on the market.

For my moderate backhand speed the Insanity flys very well. It has quite a bit of high speed turn and then a little bit of fade back and the end of the flight. When I threw it on high anhyzer throws, it had enough fade to come out of the anhyzer with a S-Curve. It was with this throw and this disc where I was able to birdie Hole #9 at the Cache County fairgrounds for the first time.

For my forehand, the Insanity is just a little too flippy and understable. Even releasing at a steep hyzer angle this disc would flip all the way over and turn left (RHFH). Most MVP/Axiom drivers have enough torque resistance that I am able to flick them pretty well, even when they are slightly understable, but the Insanity is just too much.

Overall, this is a very solid backhand driver for people like me with moderate 300ft distance, and I plan to keep it in my bag for a while. For newer disc golfers that don't have a lot of snap on their forehand, it probably works well for sidearm shots as well.
