I can feel that this disc has potential but it's just not the right feel for me. Not able to get a consistent flight from it but I could call that up to a lack of experience and skill. I'll revisit it once I have a little more practice.

The Big Z Buzzz ia the greatest disc of all time. I literally use it every round I play and it gets me tons of throw ins and bullseyes. it's also a very beginner friendly disc because it flys so straight and is so versitile. 10/10!

It's a Buzzz and what a great disc!  I've cashed numerous after tournament CTP's with them.  They do all sorts of things.  Anhyzer, hyzer, elevated to fade down at end of flight, etc etc.  Hold in the Kansas winds decent enough.  Always have one in bag, one in vehicle and 3 or 4 at the house.

I simply never clicked with the Buzzz. I tried a Big Z when I was a beginner, didn't like it, didn't get clean releases, didn't get the glide that everyone seems to experience with this mold. Came back to a couple ESP ones years later after I was more advanced to give this legendary mold one more shot - still didn't like it. I can't in good conscience give this mold less than 3.5 stars simply because I've seen how well many people can throw this disc and I know it is capabale of beautiful neutral to understable flights. I just never got them. This disc helped me realize I do better with beaded midranges, so I give it credit for that. It's often recommended but it just didn't work for me

    BIG-Z REVIEW  (a beginner's perspective)

The flight is very nice, but this gets less distance than other 4 and 5 speeds I've been using (coming from throwing a Shark, a Pteranodon, a Pathfinder, all of which get you more distance for the same launch-speed).

I own both a Big-Z (this review) and a Z.  The Big-Z is much more stable than the Z (others' mileage may vary, but that's how my 2 compare).  While my Z is closer to advertised numbers, the Big-Z fades as much as a brand new Shark would.  I've even used it in situations where I was using a Roc3 or Warrior for a strong fade at the end of a tunnel shot.  The experience I have with the Big-Z is more like 6 / 3 / 0 / 2 brand new, and let me explain: it seems to require a bit more than a 5speed throw to get a flight that starts to approach it's intended numbers - and the lower glide number because it really doesn't get nearly as much distance as some other 4 and 5 speeds that I've thrown (for example, a Pteranodon goes much farther, so does a Pathfinder).

Both my Buzzzes stay home now:  the Big-Z is replaced by a Pathfinder (5 5 0 1).  (and normally the Z would be replaced with my Pteranodon, but I lost it recently, and decided to order a Mana to try out for that slot).

This is the first disc I bought after my start pack when I started last summer. The Buzzz is definitely a pretty straight mid and the Big Z stamp is cool. I used it for several months and really liked the flight and distance I got out of it. I only stopped using it when I found another disc that I preferred the feel of over the Buzzz. It makes sense why so many people have chosen this disc.

Not sure I can say anything about the Buzzz that hasn't been said already. However, the first time I threw this disc at a basket I connected from 100 ft. Pretty much every throw seems to find a good position near the basket even with a slightly missed released. That being said I like lines I throw with a Star Mako 3. The Buzzz will definitely make it in my bag and once it's beat in a little, a go to. The Big Z plastic is a little more firm than the Star Mako and little less gummy. I think I will use it when I want to throw a line with a little more power.

One thing I didn't care for is the undercut style edge, these style of discs just seem to get grip locked on me more often.... at least with a backhand. I really liked the way the edge felt with a forehand and I have a hard time finding mid ranges that I like flicking and prefer something with a thing edge. The Buzzz felt more natural for me than an other midrange or putter I have tried throwing forehand. In the field this thing felt really great right out of the box. Definetly seems like a disc just about anyone could throw and benefit from.

Would definitely suggest a Buzzz for any player from beginner all the way to the worlds best. If you are a beginner the Buzzz will be a little more stable then you may think but will still pretty much go on any line which is very helpful to find out what mistakes you are making. If you are looking to work on form this is one of the best on the market. For bigger arms, the buzzz deserves all of the hype it gets it is perfectly straight flying on whatever line you put it on. The Buzzz is great for even the biggest arms proven by watching guys like Drew Gibson throw one over 500 feet. The Buzzz is great in so many different plastics I would suggest getting any of the higher end ones so you can throw one for a very long time. I don't throw a Buzz on forehand very often and I would suggest most people to stay with backhand. It is one of the best in the world for backhand and I would definitely say it is one of the top discs I would suggest anyone to get.

In my "set" of first discs I was given by a friend there was an X-line buzzz & I instantly fell in love with it. It was my favorite disc to thrown, and has been a staple in my bag ever since first trying it. I now bag a big z, esp, & x-line buzzz. The Big Z plastic is probably my favorite across any company, it feels so great in the hand with the perfect amount of flex. Since my current big z buzzz is a bit older and beat-in, it is extremely nice for small hyzer-flip shots, or slight turnovers. If I walk up to a hole ~250 or less, you can almost guarantee the Big Z buzzz is coming out.

I have not found another midrange that feels as good in the hand or goes as far. This would definitely be my choice for a 1 disc round as I can throw so many shot types with it and I can get almost as much distance with the Buzzz as my fairway drivers.  The big z plastic definitely has some turn to it but as long as the shot isn't rounded it'll come back slightly right of center. If the Buzzz OS and SS are this good I might try those to cover a wider range of shots but maybe I'll just experiment with different weights and plastics in the original Buzzz  to cover the range of stability. Either way I couldn't imagine not having at least one in the bag at all times. This disc is equally great for FH or BH.

decent for forehand and backhand but never found a spot in my bag, I never could tell when to use it on my courses and I never did get the hang of it. I got more bad releases with this disc than any of my other ones

This disc is great for approach shots where you want a steady line. Great for dogleg right holes for forehand players and vice versa. Holds a line with less fade than a lot of discs I've thrown.

After many years of hearing this person, and that person, and you, and your cousin, Drew Gibson, and i guess Paul McBeth tell me that the Buzzz is the bees knees, I decided to give it a go.

I played a recorded a One Disc Only round with the Buzzz and was immediately blown away. The Buzzz can be ripped on as hard as you won't but still wont turn over and will always end its flight with a soft fade.

This is a must have disc for newbies and pros alike! The Buzz can be used for any shot: straight, soft hyzer, big hyzer, anny, turnover, and the list goes on forever.

Do yourself a favor and get a Buzzz. If you dont, you will never be as good as Paul McBeth!

Check out my review for the Buzzz, and many others:

The buzzz is the perfect disc for any disc golfer.  For beginners this disc should fly mostly straight with a good amount of fade at the end.  It's a great disc for people just starting out.  As one progresses in disc golf, the buzzz becomes a go to disc that could work for every shot.  Ther's a reason that the buzzz is so recommended for one-disc rounds.  I flies straight with a little fade, and it can handle forehand or backhand (although most people will be throwing it backhand).  My big z buzzz helped me progress my game from beginner to intermediate until one fateful day I lost it in the pond at my local course :(.  Anyway, you should get the buzzz, because I heard when you buy it you turn into Paul McBeth.

Will start out as a good overstable feeling disc for a beginner and as they flatten their throw and gain arm speed it'll quickly turn into a dead straight disc even with a decent amount of turn if beat in at all. I feel that mine flips up really well and will hold an anhizer all the way

Great mid-range disc for a beginner. Very reliable and consistent. Straight with a little fade at the end. I have just started trying to throw it FH and am pleased with the results. I can see this being a staple disc in the bag.

It's pretty hard to say something about the Buzzz that's not already been said as it's one of the most popular midranges. I really didn't like midrange discs before getting a Buzzz and it's helped me appreciate using midranges in my game. I currently bag a 177g Big Z and a 172g Z Line and I use them slightly differently. I like the lighter Z Line for backhand anhyzer shots that finish right or flat and for tailwind drives. The heavier Big Z I like for straight shots backhand or forehand or hyzer to flat control drives. I used to have an ESP-FLX as well but I gave it to a friend as it felt too floppy.

This disc was what started my love for disc golf. It's the perfect disc for laser beams, straight shots, controlled approaches, slight turnovers, long smooth anhyzers that will flatten right before the end of flight. If you take a bit off your throw you will get a mostly straight flight with just an ever so slight fade out at the end. As the years have gone on, this seems to be one of three molds that will never leave my bag. This is one of the best midranges out there, and I know it may be blasphemy, but it can perfectly coexist with brand new Rocs. *GASP* (but Wasps are better ;)

I would say the best plastic in terms of feel and durability would have to be CryZtal, something about that blend is just pure greatness. But more on the feel buzzes are almost entirely flat, with a nice comfortable feeling rim with no bead. This is also one of those rare middies that is just as comfy forehand as it is backhand. (I know super subjective, but still it's pretty true.)

The one complaint is that it doesn't quite handle a headwind very well, but that's what Wasps/Zones/Drones are for anyway. If you're new to the sport, this disc will unlock a whole new part of your game you didn't know was possible. And may end up shaving a few strokes off the scorecard. If you're not new, chances are you've seen/held/thrown/bagged buzzzes before. Just try it if you haven't, and unless your in love with rocs already, you will probably love this mold.

What can I say?  The greatest midrange that I have ever thrown.  I have had three Big Z, and two of them have aced.  I also have a new Paul McBeth swirly ESP Buzzz that is just beautiful.  Let's talk about the hand feel.  It feels great.  I am very biased.  I can barely see anything wrong with Buzzz's. so this comment may not be super healthful.  Buzzzs have a good glide, but I do not think that they have the glide of a something like a Dynamic Discs Truth.  Buzzzs have a very straight flight path.  I use my Buzzzs for so many things.  One of those things that use buzzzs for is short forehand approach shots.  If it is an open fairway and too far to putt, the buzzz will give me an easy tap in most of the time.  This disc is great for beginners due to its straight flight path.  You can learn good form with the Buzzz's neutral flight path.  I reccomend this disc for anybody.

After a bunch of research I landed on this disc for a learning midrange.  I will always bag a buzzz. It holds the line I put it on. Before I would force overstables over to get a disc to go straight. This one DOES go straight. I've thrown Buzzz only (plus putter) rounds and it's improved my game immensely!

I purchased this disc as one of my first discs and have been very pleased for the past several months. Although I started playing with forehand and more over-stable drivers, I wanted to develop my backhand game and this disc has been a great teacher and helps develop my form and is easy to throw 200 feet with limited experience. Would highly recommend.

If you throw discraft, you need a buzzz, period. My local course is more short wooded holes than open distance holes, and my buzzz is the most used disc in my bag. It just goes straight as an arrow wherever you point it, it'll hold whatever line you put it on and can get some pretty good distance when you need it. I also bag a jawbreaker buzzz that's a bit flippier, I mostly use it for short approaches where I need a bit more glide to get around obstacles where my putter would just sort of drop. Even if you don't normally throw discraft, bag a buzzz, you won't regret it.

About the Big Z plastic: I mean, it's basically Z plastic (comparable to Champ or Opto/Lucid/VIP), but with pearlier looks. Grip is maybe a touch better, but as should be expected from a translucent premium plastic, it's still not great when wet or very cold. That said, I'm from Alabama, so it really fails to bother me 11 months out of the year. The shape of the disc feels just fine: flattish top, aside from a little shoulder, and a rim that's not too large, but not too tiny to grip well either. Pretty generic, but good, beadless midrange feel.

Now, on to the flight. As I throw predominantly backhand shots, this review will mostly consider that angle, although this disc does hold forehands tolerably well (and much better than a Roc3). Thrown backhand, the Buzzz is a long, glidey midrange, and easy to shape. If you tone down the snap a bit, it's straight with a moderate fade at the end; step it up a bit and it will turn over into smooth, gentle anhyzers before finishing back straight. If you need to adjust the angle out of your hand, the Buzzz is receptive to a wide range of options there as well. The two big areas this disc doesn't cover are overstable hook shots and very understable late-turning shots. Other than that, it's a lovely, precise tool inside of about 300', whether for tight woods work or more open shots where a driver isn't needed.

Overall, the Buzzz is a versatile, predictable mid which players at a broad range of skill levels can make good use of. It's a staple in my bag, and my most-used midrange, which I complement with a Prophecy and a Gator for overstable lines.

This disc really is amazing. I do not find it as shapable as I tend to like midranges, but it's extremely accurate off the tee and for approaches. It can handle power, but does not require a lot of power to work well. You should expect to see a -1 turn.

I am a predominantly RHBH thrower and I have this disc in the 175g range in Big Z plastic. It would be nearly impossible to say something about the Buzzz that hasn't already been said. It's a great disc for what it's meant to be. Flat topped, not too deep and easy to throw. It will hold any line you put on it really. Thrown flat it goes dead straight with almost no fade, and once beat it you might see a little high speed turn. This disc is not a wind fighter. I would say the numbers are pretty close, with a bit less glide then is indicated. When I first started playing I used this disc quite a bit but it has recently been replaced and has been sitting. I would recommend this disc for any level of play.

I love my Buzzz, but it has become more of a specialty disc for me as my collection has grown.  It was a great choice as the first disc I bought outside of my starter set and was great to teach me how to anticipate the fade and try to shape shots.  Now it is a super reliable disc I reach for when I need a slight left fade (RHBH) and it excels at flattening out after a spike hyzer around a tree.  Awesome disc for beginners, and handy for anyone.

One of the greates mid range discs around.  This was my first hand picked midrange after my initial innova starter pack.  I loved the buzz, and bagged it for most of my first year playing.  The buzz is a very solid and reliable discs and most of them come very consistently flat.  I ended up switching to ROC3's due to availability at local shops and have not looked back.  I still recommend the buzz as a great first midrange for new players.
