I found this disc at a local course and it's a great driver for beginners or for someone who needs some turn to the right in the woods or around a corner for a RHBH player. I'd liken this disc to a Valkyrie in regards to it's flight characteristics, but  I personally like the overall feel of this disc better; especially for forehands. It's got a very thin profile and it just looks cool.

To be honest, it's the only MVP plastic I have ever thrown, but I am impressed with it wnad would very  much be willing to try out other MVP discs after experiencing this one.

I wanted to keep this disc in my bag so badly but I can't get any consistency out of it. It will give me big distance but getting it to land where I want it to is an exercise in futility. The one crowd I do recommend this to is beginners who can't control where they land anyway. It will give them good distance, as it did for me when I was first starting out. Eventually you can replace it as your skill increases.

This was my go-to driver for sometime even as a beginner. It was the only disc I ever got to 300' with as a newbie, and it wouldn't fade out hard when I failed to get a ton of power on the disc. I really think these discs look great as well. The Proton blue is pretty awesome.

Flippy enough for beginners wanting to dabble into the distance driver territory. Advanced players will have to use an extreme hyzer-flip, or use it for right turn annys or rollers (or throllers).

    3/5

I picked this disc up pretty early on, when I didn’t know anything about speed ratings, weight or elevation’s influence on stability; found it in 155g weight, was noticeably lighter than everything else I was throwing. Didn’t realize then it was what I should have been throwing to develop consistent, nose-down throws and control my power.

I definitely agree that this disc will help beginners find more distance—very understable, high-glide discs like this are pretty forgiving of poor form, while really taking off in the hands of someone with a better sense of what to do with them. However, it was really rather unpredictable with its turn and fade; even as a beginner, I was getting flat rhbh shots out of it that would never fade left. At first, I thought this was great, but I soon realized it was almost like a completely different disc each throw. The lighter plastic made it drift upward, too, but I wasn’t aware that all my 172 discs had allowed me to develop a bad nose-up release to compensate for throwing discs that were just too heavy for me.

I was considering getting rid of it at the time, and wound up losing it, instead. Was actually a funny story: was playing late and some folks nearby were letting their dog run. The dog seem to love the fact that I was running between throws, wanted to get involved. Its humans kept yelling at it, but it wasn’t being obnoxious, so I ran with it some. It seemed to be familiar with disc golf, it never mangled up my discs or took off with them or anything. At the top of a small hill, I threw the Impulse; it came out flat and neat and sailed about 360’ toward some brush along a creek—never bothered coming back left. The dog took off after it, popped into the brush right where it landed, turned around and came back with an Innova Firebird. Its humans called it back and that was the last I saw of it. I never found the Inertia again, though I looked multiple times, but all things considered, the dog did me a solid and I got a pretty valuable trade out of it.

I still very much love MVP/Axiom, and I’d give the Inertia another try, now that I’m a little more familiar, but I would not recommend the disc to a beginner, purely for the sake of its propensity to glide concealing good opportunities for beginners to understand the dynamics of disc flight. I would much more favorably suggest an Axiom Crave, MVP Servo or Latitude 64 Falchion to the beginner who’s trying to establish good form. They’re really great, forgiving & insightful teachers that won’t ask you to rip your own arm off to throw all week long.

The Inertia is a pretty good understable driver that will give solid distance on controlled lines for any player that can get it up to speed. The disc will generally fly dead straight if you can power it out to 300'. A player with less power than that should probably pick a slower disc. If you have considerably more power than that, then you'll definitely need to give it some hyzer if you want to keep it under control, because this is more of an "easy distance" disc for intermediate players than it is something designed for Simon Lizotte to rip on.

I would mention, however, that this isn't really a maximum distance driver. With a 2.0 cm rim width, any other company would probably label this as a speed 10 disc. The Inertia's flight is most similar to that of an Innova Beast, and its rim width is also identical to that of the Beast (the only major difference between the two discs is the depth and shape of the inside rim). Of course there are people who can throw a Beast 500', but the Beast isn't really in the same class of discs as the Destroyer or the Tern, and neither is the Inertia. Doesn't mean it's a bad disc, but it's just not designed to be thrown on the super long bomber holes. Pull out the Inertia when you can sacrifice a little bit of distance for a LOT of added control, and you'll get good results out of this disc. It goes further than pretty much any fairway driver, but it's not going to fade on you as much as the wide rim distance drivers, so I find that it's a good compromise in a lot of situations where you need a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B.

For reference, I have a 165g Proton Inertia and it flips up to flat very easily for me, even though I only get it out to about 325' of distance. A max weight Inertia would probably be more suitable for the advanced players.

This could be my favorite roller disc of all time. When these beat in they have this beautiful amount of turn out of them which is great for airing out a backhand roller but also has the torque resistance and perfect turn for a forehand roller. Having a disc that I can trust for both sides of a roller is reeeeeally hard to come by but these do it.

I really don't think the numbers are all that off, at least when they start to wear down a little bit. I always thought they were 10 speeds anyway and they should be able to turn a good amount for people who don't have a monster arm. This is the only MVP disc I like to carry and it's only for rollers but it is a beast of a disc if you are a fan of backhand forehand rollers.

First off, ignore the number ratings for flight for this disc. It is NOT 11/5/-2/2 at all. Closer to 11/5/-0.5/3

Pretty overstable disc. But holds a good straight line for a while before a reliable left fade when thrown RHBH.

Looks great,  feels good in the hand for longer fingers like myself. In the bag, for my sky hyzer shots. Not understable by any means. I can't get this thing to turnover to save my life, and I can get 12 speed stable discs to turn a little. I don't have crazy power but I know I can flip an 11 speed disc easy enough.

Flies very similar to a Innova Teerex, or a Discraft Pulse. Less glide than a pulse though.

    Durable plastic in Proton.

    Disc: MVP Inertia (Proton)

Wow, I've sure had a different experience with this disc than most of the reviewers on this site.  However, after reading all of the reviews, I see that there are a number of people that have had an eerily similar experience with their MVP Inertia.

While the Inertia is sold as one of MVP's "understable" drivers, I have found mine to be extremely overstable.   Like some of the previous reviewers, mine flies much more like an 11/5/0/3.5+ than its reported 11/5/-2/2.  Even when I really get on this disc and power it way up, and I'm not a noodle arm by any means.   I even have it in a pretty light weight as well (166g).

So, obviously the disc is unable to fill the spot in the bag I had purchased it to fill (as my nice understable control driver).  Instead it just sits in the closet with my little stack of retired discs.  The reason I dont use it as another overstable driver is beause my bag is filled with a range of stable to overstable drivers that do everything this particular Intertia does.  They just do it way, WAY better.  They are much longer, far more consistent, much easier to control, etc....This particular Intertia is just a really poor imitation of your good, strong, stable driver.

I guess I'm like the other reviewers that have pointed out the consistency issues with MVP's Intertia.  Now I know what the reviewer who questioned whether MVP sold him a mislabled disc was feeling when he wrote that review.  Damn you MVP.  This thing wasn't cheap either.  But hey, aesthetically it is still a damn good looking (and feeling) disc.  I just wish that my first experience with purchasing one wasn't such a giant disappointment.  Also, for beginners, if you get one like I got (from this batch), it would be just about the worst possible disc you could buy.

They brand this disc as understable but the one I tried throwing was more overstable and closer to 11/5/0/3. My experience it's not a bad disc but the numbers just didn't match the actual flight characteristics so that's why I'm only giving it 4 stars.

EDIT: I've been playing for longer now (almost 2 years) and I'd say that the disc in Proton Plastic is rated wrong. It's more like 10; 5; -0.5; 2. I love it for straight drives and hyzer flip forehands. Very dependable fairly straight flying disc.

This is my go to disc in my bag. Very controllable flight just as advertised with some high speed turn and predictable fade at the end. I can throw this on a slight hyzer and it will flip up and go straight for days. I am a big fan of the MVP/Axiom brand their discs have great feel in the hand and this disc is no exception.

The Inertia also does a lot of work for me off the tee. I'll use it when I've got a goodly amount of room along the fairway for it to work for full distance, or when there's a bit too much headwind for me to throw the Impulse. It works well for turnovers where the disc really needs to fade a bit at the end to avoid trouble. It's also a good downwind driver, providing me with a bit more accuracy downwind than the Impulse.

It's a bit too fast for beginners.

Proton, 166g.  RHFH style.   Flight: I throw flat and it goes laser straight and then gentle predictable fade to the right (forehand) every time.  It is so useful because not a lot of room is required, goes far, straight, and predictable.  This is my favorite disc in my bag and the one I use most often.  FWIW, I read other reviews say that said proton more stable than neutron.  I haven't thrown neutron so can't compare but I'm very happy with the proton choice and weight.  Does not flip over on me (I do tend to overpower other discs that are more understable if thrown flat; not the inertia).  Does well in wind for me also.

Update: after a couple months of playing / seasoning of the disc I'm now getting nice s curves out of it.  Still very predictable and still really like.  Can use in woods where you need to weave around trees or even RHFH flex from right side of fairway to left and fade back into the basket.  The best thing I can tell you is that this really is a CONTROLLABLE driver.

    PROTON PLASTIC

Profile: This is the sweet spot for distance driver rim width. Not thin but not too wide.  We are starting to get some depth on this rim, not as thin as say the Clash.

Flight: As advertised.  I get a good S each time, the fade is slightly more than the turn. Pretty neutral flight, finished very close to the line you release it on.

    Comparison: Beat in Tern.

Final Thoughts: My friend gave me 2 of these, 1 was really beat in the other was newish. They fly much differently.  Once this disc really beats in I would change the numbers to 11/5/-3/2.  I love that I have the same disc for 2 completely different shaped shots.  I get the same distance out of both discs, but the beat in one has a wider S than the newer one.  These aren't the longest discs in my bag, but they have their spot for those 325 ft shots.

Awesome disc! This driver is a great understable driver. The feel of this disc and the proton plastic is excellent. The rim size fits rather well in the hand. The grip feels rather great. The plastic is very durable, my disc has survived various hits on trees and pavement.

The stability of this disc is understable and is very shapeable to what I want it to do. The understability of the disc makes it very beginner friendly. It also holds great anhyzer lines.

For being a distance driver I can get some good distance with this driver as a beginner and now. I've had this disc for a year and I've never really been able to throw it to 400 feet, the farthest I've thrown it is probably 350. Now it is to understable to throw really far. It is still in my bag for the understablitiy and the ease of shapeability.

Overall this disc is a great disc and it is rather dependable.

The Inertia is my go-to for shots over 300' that need to finish straight. It has that perfect blend of dependability and durability. It isn't great in the wind, but I've yet to find an understable driver that handles the wind any better. The Inertia is a workhorse driver that, once beaten in, will adhere to any command.

The biggest of arms may find it too flippy, but can use it for turnovers and hyzer flips that need to finish without any semblance of fade. Average arms will find it very controllable in weights around 165g and below, in normal conditions. Beginners will find previously unknown distance in weights around 155g, but will struggle to control it in any sort of headwind  or crosswind. Do not throw the Inertia into a head wind and expect it to finish with fade, unless you have a noodle arm and are throwing it at max weight.

I have a Proton and a Neutron in my bag. The Proton is the essence of control and seems to have a bit more stability. The Neutron is a little more on the understable side and excels at max distance shots with a tailwind and enough room for its natural flight.

I started throwing MVP last year because of their durability. MVP discs are my workhorses in the woods and around areas where I'd be concerned about chipping or gouging with my premium plastics from other brands. My MVPs have not had such issues with rim damage.

The MVP Inertia is great for what it was designed to do. There are other molds out there that may get you more distance, but the Inertia is all about controllable distance.

I recieved the 155g Inertia in proton plastic with my PDGA membership packet. When I looked at it, I immediately dismissed because I considered it was much lighter than the max weight discs I always throw.

However, I decided to give this disc some practice shots down the fairway. I thought for a 155g disc, it was pretty stable. I started using it more and more because it really fit in my hands. I could get an excellent grip with the slightly smaller rim size.

Before long I was using this disc more and more, and so it earned a spot in my bag. I wouldn't use it for max distance shots. But on a shorter and tighter gap, I'd send it down the fairway with a little bit of hyzer. It would pick up beautifully and just barely turn to the right for a bit, then the fade would kick in, and ended left. It's a great disc for those nice slight "s-curves". If I really ripped on it while throwing flat, it would turn right a pretty good amount. I learned to release it on a hyzer and let it do its thing. I was always surprised that it was overstable for a 155g.

I had never thrown any other MVP disc before this, but I really liked it.

My last throw it ended in the lake at a depth of about 25ft. RIP Inertia.

I tried this disc out at the MVP circuit, and this disc is WAY better than the Relay. It is like a Relay that can be controlled. The Relay was just too touchy for me, it was very sensitive to angle control. The Inertia was much better on angle control, and had a very nice understable flight. It reminded me of a Champion Valkyrie, with a dependable flip and fade.

I tried the Inertia for a couple of roller shots, and found that it wasn't quite understable enough for me. I'm sure many with more power than I could find a great roller line with this disc, but I would need one to be a bit broken in before I'm throwing rollers with it.

Overall I think this is a great disc to try out for those trying to improve with higher speed discs and looking to add more distance to their game.

I now have two Inertias in my bag (one proton, one neutron). This disc is my go to fairway driver and is one of the most consistant discs I own. I throw RHBH, but my forehand game is miserable. It flys exactly how you release and will form any line I want it to. Love this disc and MVP! Definately recomend this to anyone!

Proton 156 gm, pink disc that i would rate as stable to neutral  fareway driver good for low wind  in the woods type of disc. I have turned this over a few times but with a clean release  it has the late fade to the left for the RHBH player.

In fact the easier you throw it, the farther it seems to go for me at 275 feet distance. The plastic has a slow break in period (as opposed to the blizzards) and the  grip is average.in normal conditions for ths premium type of plastic.

For my skill set I have used it for rollers with consistent success in tight situations.

As a bonus a very handsome  piece of plastic.

I've been throwing an Inertia in the Proton plastic & 159 gr for about 5 months now and this one is in my bag to stay. This disc delivers a very consistent S curve flight and goes where you point it, with a flat smooth release. This disc has amazing glide! I don't have a real strong arm (300 ft), however this disc can get a little flippy if I crank it up.... might have to do with the relatively light weight. This is also a calm weather disc. Any kind of wind and it stays in the bag.

Bottom line; this is a fantastic reliable disc which is also very beginner friendly.

    My personla ratings for this disc would be 10.0 /  5.0 /  -2.0 / 1.0
