Very versatile and useful disc for beginners and veterans alike. Definitely stays on the line you put it on, but also doesn't feel quite as touchy as a Mako or a Comet. It's a pretty fast mid and can handle a bit of power, but still performs well at low to moderate power. Decent wind fighting ability, but texas gales can throw it around some. This is an excellent mid.

Absolutely love the M4! It is my personal favorite disc for a straight to slightly understable midrange! Depending on the plastic, you can get a disc that will go dead straight for a long way and then pretty much just sit down at the end, or get a disc with a little bit of turn to hold a turnover or pop up to flat and ride straight for its flight! So reliable and great feel in the hand!

The 400g m4 is easily my favorite mold and one of the most versatile.  Crazy good distance for a mid and holds whatever line you put it on.  Straight with some late turn if thrown flat.  These are money.

Sooooo good. This is the disc that made me want more prodigy discs. Picked It up in a trade just to try something new and oh did I get the better end of the trade. Super flat and comfy in hands and flips up predictably and workable. You can easily manipulate it to finish left, right, or straight if you have developed your touch.

Absolute must-have for players who play wooded courses. Out of the box, its a straight flyer that may have a slight hyzer finish depending on your arm speed but as it beats in, the turnover and hyzer flip lines you can throw are incredible. After losing my seasoned one last season, I was at a loss. The 400g plastic is super durable - can't say enough good things about this disc!

I like to say "If Cale Leviska throws it, you know its gotta be a smooth releasing disc." That couldn't be more true of the Prodigy M4. This neutral to slightly stable midrange has tons of glide and holds almost any line that it is put on.

I am a player that typically doesn't bag a ton of midranges, but the M4 has solidified two spots in my bag. The first one is a new 400G Cale Leviska M4 that is dead straight with the tiniest but of fade at the end of its flight. The second M4 is a bit more beat in. It is stock stamped made of 400G plastic that has a super neutral flight that can hold any line at 50 to 70% power. As I throw the M4s harder, they tend to start a bit of a hyzer flip-up line. No matter how I throw them, they as super smooth releasing discs.

I would really recommend this disc to anyone who is looking to throw really straight shots in anywhere from 200 to 350 ft. I think even beginners can use this disc in more base-line plastics as it will help them learn how to throw super smooth straight shots.

I think this disc is best situated in the woods golf side of disc golf. It can be used on more open courses, but it really shines when a player needs to hit a tight tree line. Like most neutral flying discs, the M4 doesn't really react well to strong winds and tends to be a bit unpredictable in super windy conditions. If you're looking for something that is great in high winds, choose something more stable.

The only drawback, which is easily fixed by a piece of sandpaper, is that most prodigy discs have a ton of flashing on the edges of their discs. This tends to be a bit uncomfortable until the flashing is worn off or once it is sanded off.

Overall, one of my favorite discs and a must have for wooded courses.

This is the best midrange I've ever thrown. I have thrown Rocs, Buzzzes, Truths, Reactors, Matrix, and none compare to the M4. It is smooth, effortless, and holds the most beautiful lines. This is a 10/10 disc.

I consider the M4 to be the best all around mid range, and would recommend this disc to any player, including someone looking for their first disc. It has a neutral flight that can be thrown on any angle, and has a lower profile that is great for learning to throw forehand. It's available in all of Prodigy's plastics, which feel great. I like 400g for a little more stability and durability, and like 300 for cycling and great grip in all conditions. Recommend 300 plastic first and then 400g once the 300 beats in.

Great disc for flip to flat shots when you don't want to use a driver. Very glidey disc, breaks in very well and stays predictable. Good for rollers too. 400g plastic feels great in any weather conditions but i wouldnt use it in the rain if i had a choice, id use 350g.

Much less stable than I was expecting. Out of the box, it was flippier than my old, very beat-in Z Buzzz. I had lost my Buzzz that I had for 7 years and did not want to wait until my brand new Buzzz was beat-in enough to get that flight im looking for, so I gave this a try to see if it fit the spot. However, after further testing this just couldn't make the bag. It's a little too flippy for that slot, and I prefer the Comet for my flippy, understable mid.

Maybe other runs or batches are more stable, but not the one I got.

A good disc for wooded courses where you need to hyzer-flip for dead straight or flex around some trees, but not as stable as I was looking for.

The M4 was my first Prodigy disc and it has never left the bag. The M4 is great for all of those straight or understable shots. If I am tucked up in a short tunnel, the M4 is coming out of the bag and going into the circle.

The M4 is consistently the disc that my friends try and then go buy. Based on the amount of power you put on it, you can get different flights. My favorite is when you get just a little turn and a dependable soft fade. It's great for upshots and drives when you can throw it straight at the basket and just let it set down.

This is my go to midrange disc that I use if i need to throw a straight to fade right shot.. it holds that fade and just keeps gliding to where i need it to go. Great disc if you want to forehand this with a hyzer and get it to stand up striaght!

The M4 was a kinda meh disc to me at first. I had a Mako3 and then got a 400g M4 on a whim just to try it. The 2 discs flew exactly the same for me at the time and I preferred the Mako3 so I put away the M4 for a while. After a while I was looking for an understable mid and I didn't really like the feel of the Comet or the Fuse really. I remembered that I had the M4 and I decided to pull that out and man I'm glad I did. The M4 is definitely more comfortable in the hand to me than the other 2.

The M4 starts off with some decently stability so you get some nice S shots with it, but after it gets beat in a little bit this disc just DOES it. It does anything I want it to. I love throwing hyzer flips with this disc. It just goes dead straight, or a little slow turn over depending on the power and angle I throw it on. And it has glide for days. It goes so much further than I expect it to a lot of the time and its helped make certain holes easier. I reach for the M4 way more than I thought I would.

The only issue I have is the 400g plastic on my M4 isn't super grippy unless its about 75 degrees or warmer. Its not slick but its not really that grippy at the lower temperatures. I would suggest the 400 plastic unless you want slightly stiffer plastic.

M4 is an awesome midrange! With the right amount of power, this disc is capable of any mid distance shot. However, once you hit the threshold and overpower, it will anhyzer (RHBH) forever away. Definitely need to throw a hard hyzer for a straight shot. I threw an M4 for years before switching to a buzzz. Personally, I find the M4 to be similar to Discraft’s Meteor.

After an average experience with the M2 and the M3, I wasn't expecting a whole lot from the M4, but this is an awesome midrange. This is a very straight flying midrange, but it can handle some power without flipping. I was able to throw some soft hyzers, hyzerflips, and sweeping anhyzers with this disc. This threw like a worn in Roc3 in its sweet spot. Really nice option that would pair nice with the M1.

This is just a fantastic mid range. I've tried to get away from it because of how understable it is; but it just flies so great. It's a point shoot disc; a great midrange that'll quickly show you where your form is off. This disc also has the rare feat of being great for every skill level.

I had this disc recommended to me for an understable mid many times by friends who throw Prodigy, and while skeptical that it would be understable enough for my desire based on numbers, I gave it a shot. I'm not disappointed that I did, I'm a huge Mako3 fan and this disc is right in league with it, just a touch less stable. Flies very true to the numbers, which means a very straight forward. The wing feels very similar, while the Mako3 is convex, the M4 is straight. The M4 is sneaky long, easily the longest mid I've thrown and gets 5 more feet than my Mako3 on average. While not a true understable mid, this is a great straight to slightly understable disc.

This is my second favorite prodigy disc.  The "G" makes it a little more flexible, but this disc just FLIES.  Whatever line you throw it on, it will hold it until the very end with the reliable "Prodigy Fade".  You can throw a high hyzer and it says.  Or a nice hyzer flip for tunnel shots.  Throw an anhyzer instead of a forhand and watch it fly where you want.  The 400g plastic is much more usable then the G* from Innova (which I also bag).   It does get a little gummy, but not near as bad as G*.

This is a perfect mid range that can fit in any bag.

Everyone should have an M4 in the bag. This is the ultimate do-it-all midrange. In my opinion, it's what the Mako/Mako3 want to be. The 400G M4 takes any angle and holds it, for a long way. Every 400G M4 I have are very flat and very grippy.  Beginners will find this disc to be very easy to throw and very reliable as at lower speeds it flies very straight before showing a bit of finish.  Powered up it goes and goes and goes on whatever angle it starts out on.

This is an S'ey mid.  I get an actual S flight out of this disc when thrown flat or on a slight hyzer.  This is a touchy disc though.  If you give it any anny at all it's gone to the right, it's not coming out of it.  I find it best to give it some sort of hyzer release every time.  This would be great for a wooded course where you need specific lines.  This disc does seem to warp more than others in my bag, no matter the plastic.

OVERALL:  I bought a 168g M4 in 400g plastic from Infinite Discs.  This is a great disc, especially with tunnel shots in wooded or technical courses.  Its extremely durable and offers good grip and performance.

FEEL/LOOK:  The M4 has a small, beadless rim and is fairly flat.  Its similar in shape to LAT64 midranges, such as the Compass and Core.  The 400g is a very firm plastic, which I love.  And everything is firm, not only the rim but the inner portion of the disc.    Visually, it seems like it would be slick, however, it offers good grip in both good and bad weather conditions.  It is also the most durable disc I have in my bag.  Whether that's due to the disc, the 400G plastic, or both, I don't know.  What I can say is that I've hit an Oak tree with it dead-on at full power from 30 ft (I'm embarrassed to admit) and the M4 didn't flinch--not even a blemish.  This is especially helpful for people who play extremely wooded courses like in my area.

PERFORMANCE:  Love the performance of this disc.  With moderate power, it gives me 240-250 ft every time with a slight, slight fade at the end.  I can also give it a little more altitude and get a decent amount of fade. It is an especially good disc for tunnel shots.  It will hold the straight line you put it on for almost the entirety of its flight.  Its a must have for extremely wooded or technical courses.  I'm primarily a BH thrower but this disc performs well on moderately-powered forehand flicks as well.

Only ding I have on this disc is that if I power it up too much, it will end with a slidht turn, similar to the LAT64 Fuse.  Not an issue once you figure out how much power to use, but it can be unpredictable until then.  Overall, this is a great disc.

I need to start this out by saying that this is the most reliable understable mid I've ever thrown, and I've gone through a lot trying to fill this slot in my bag. I have 2 M4's. One is 400G, and the other is 300s which is more understable. It feels good in the hand, and the 300S is the disc I would throw for a good anhyzer line instead of a forehand shot. The 400G I love for tunnel shots and hyzer flip shots between trees, and can carry it out anywhere from 240-280ft if needed. As any understable disc you don't want to throw it into a headwind, but you can take the 400G and throw it into a slight headwind and it'll carry far right if you give it a slight bit more height to it.

The M4 is faster than the average mid.  It's also beadless and has a low profile, which makes it more comfortable to grip for smaller hands.  I have this mold in 350RX & 400G plastic.  My 400G M4s get used for smooth powered down hyzers, hyzer flip to straight shots, and annys.  350RX is less stable and is used mostly for hyzer flip turnovers. Neither type of M4 are especially great into a headwind or when the nose is angled down, but they're amazing in the woods.  All that controllable glide and low fade makes this my most cherished mold for technical courses.

This is currently my favorite disc. If you are curious about Prodigy but not sure which disc to try out, buy an M4. My 400G plastic is great in my hand, and I recommend it to anyone.

In my bag, this is my disc that I always say "has my back". If i misthrow it, it will fix itself for me. This is my most straight-flying disc, great for tunnel shots.

Some say that Prodigy discs aren't too beginner friendly, but I say this might be an exception.

I have a 179g 400g M4 that I absolutely love. It has become my most used midrange and I have only had it a month or two. I bag a 400s M1 and M3, and a 300s M5 and I love all three of them differently, but the M4 is my new favorite. Thrown hard it will hold a very slight turnover line for what seems like forever! It will hold a hyzer line if throw with some hyzer, it will hold an anhyzer line like a champ. Its just a great midrange. If you are looking to buy 1 midrange from prodigy I would suggest starting with this disc!

Acquired a slightly used, first-run M4 in 400G plastic, 175g.  The plastic feels very good in the hand, bespeaking the high quality of Prodigy plastics.  The M4 grip feels to me like an Innova Coyote, and is very comfortable in my hand.  The flight of the M4 is similar to a Mako3 to me:  straight and easy to shape for either hyzer lines or anhyzer lines... especially anhyzer lines.  This would be a good disc for familiariizing oneself with Prodigy's high-quality lineup.

There are enough good reviews on this site about this disc.  I have been playing for a long while. I have used many midranges and many understable midranges.  This is by far my favorite.  I suggest a 400G around 175-180g (for experienced players) The flatter the better.

This disc for me flies like a buzzz that slowly takes an anhyzer flight. It holds long and smooth, not super flippy at max weight.  Very straight finese shots, and hyzers that hold long archs.  I have used a BuzzzSS Meteor Panther, all of which are great understable mids.  But the 400G M4 has found a home in my bag.  There is a course where I pull this out on the teebox and it's almost like clockwork, I can throw strong and confident and know its taking that smooth anhyzer route without cut rolling.  BRP #2, #3, #6, #13, #16 I tee off with an M4.  Lets just say I like those holes because I know I can park it with the M4.

Prodigy has come out of my bag more recently, but the ones that stuck are M4, Pa4, Pa3, and the occassional F5 F7 ;)

This disc rules. It really surpasses all distance standards that are set for mid range flyers.  I can put my 177g m4 out on a slow turnover shot that easily cruises 275'-290'. My favorite shot with this disc is a hard hyzer flip.  With enough hyzer and snap, this disc will flip up and fly absolutely straight for what seems like minutes. Favorite all around mid range. 5/5 stars.

Easily the easist midrange for newer players. This is a frozen rope of a disc!

I mainly use the for long gliding anhyzer shots that just level out at the end. Easily staying on the air for 300'+ With a poor sidearm shot, this is a LIFESAVER for a RHBH thrower trying to dogleg right. I can easily sit this on it's right edge and watch it turn the corner, knowing exactly where to find it.

On the other hand, I have lent this to several friends who were new to the sport and they have been able to control this much better than their typical discs. Many of them still want the big guns power drivers with the fastest speed, but, showing them what they can do with a straight midrange, converted them over to an M4.

My gal is fairly new and mostly throws Avenger SS, Roc3, River. However, once she tried an M4, she was hooked as well.

Power throwers can sit this on a straight line or turn it over to the right without worrying about it burning into the ground. Newer players can find whole new levels of control with plenty of glide to get decent distance.

M4 is the disc I couldn't play without. I can hyzer flip my M4 for long (400') straight shots, or angle up or down to get long turnovers or stall out hyzers. The M4 has the most glide of the prodigy midranges and really likes to be in the air. Very controllable and reliable. My favorite disc.

M4 is a little more understable than I initially had thought. I wouldn't call this disc flippy, unless thrown into a headwind, but it does have a smooth turn that doesn't really want to stop turning. Glide is really amazing on my M4, though!

At the bottom of the page here, it says the M4 is similar to the MVP Tangent, Gateway Element, Gateway Mystic, and the Westside Tursas. I have thrown all but the Mystic, and I would say that the Prodigy M4 flies most similarly to the Element. As I've said in my other Prodigy disc reviews, the plastic looks and feels amazing. As far as the flight goes, hyzer releases will flip up and go dead straight for a long time before finishing softly left. Flat releases will turn a little right, keep going straight, and finish a little left. Anhyzer releases will hold the right turn all the way. The speed and flight of the M4 reminded me of a Leopard. I think that the M4 is actually a 6 speed disc and it flies very similar to a Leopard. Therefore, this disc would be great for beginners, intermediate players, and Paige Pierce, who seemed to throw it beautifully at the Masters Cup!

The Prodigy M4 (proto) flies a lot like a Buzzz SS or beat-to-perfection Buzzz. The concept “it holds whatever line you put it on” has never been so true as with this disc. Throw it flat, it flies very straight with a little fade at the end. Throw it on an anhyzer it holds and finishes with a graceful glide. Throw it on a hyzer with good snap and you’ll get a tiny flip, and it will ride straight to finish with a nice hyzer. The M4 feels like a Buzzz in hand. The plastic is excellent; durable, gummy, and just pliable enough. Yes, almost exactly like Discraft premium Cryztal plastic. Several non-disc golfers in my office held the disc and commented on the quality of the plastic. The flight out-of-the-box is superb, and I anticipate (and hope) the plastic holds that flight for a good long time. The disc I was testing with had little to no flashing, so I figure the flight is already in the sweet spot. My only concern with the plastic is how slick it gets in cold and wet weather. The Buzzz has a little more glide (especially an SS), but little less speed than a M4. However, the M4s speed makes it a little better in winds (low winds, its no wind-fighter) and longer. When first throwing it in a field, a fellow disc golfer thought the M4 was a fairway driver based on the speed. On average, it seemed the M4 flight was about 5-10 further than a Buzzz SS (265’ vs. 275’). I didn’t feel either disc was significantly more or less accurate, simply a difference in flight between glide and speed. Overall, the disc is a winner. In a basic plastic, I believe this disc would be a great recommendation for a beginning player. The premium plastic is a bit high priced and won’t beat in quickly for new players. Is it better than a Buzzz? Not necessarily; it is ever-so-slightly different. My primary midrange is a Buzzz SS and I am considering switching to the M4 for the extra distance and wind resistance. As a side note, the M4 should really be an M3. M4 should be something comparable to a Discraft Meteor, Innova Stingray, or Latitude 64 Fuse.

Just got through playing a round with the M4. This midrange is sweeet. While I probably haven't used it enough to write a review, I'm going to anyways because I was so impressed. First off, I love Prodigy's other released midranges, they have a great feel, and are thick enough for me to get a nice power grip. For me there wasn't a lot of difference between my proto M1 and M3, they were both overstable, great driving mids. The M4 is different. This one is a perfectly straight flyer with a most minimal fade. This is a great disc for straight line throws at the basket, and anhyzer throws. My second throw with the M4 actually won me CTP during my league play. It parked me two feet past the basket on a 250 foot hole. From one round and a dozen or so test throws with the M4, this disc is definitely staying in my bag. Prodigy discs might end up being my primary midrange discs. 5 Stars.

As an edit to this review, I've tried the G series plastic now as well. Love the feel of the G series plastic, but this plastic is a lot more understable making the G-series disc more likely to flip over. I much prefer my 400 series plastic version of the M-4.
