I think the flight ratings are almost true to the numbers, it had consistently slightly less fade than what I would image a '2' fade disc would be however. Other than that I thought this disc was pretty good but I would definitely choose other fairway drivers at this speed. It's nothing special, if you're looking for a run of the mill fairway driver that will get you to your destination than I would say sure, go ahead and grab one. I do quite like their storm plastic; it is in my opinion better than innova's champion plastic.

This is Viking's swiss army knife. You can do whatever is needed with this disc. I'd say the only thing it would struggle to do is be a back hand roller.

The barbarian has a very reliable fade at almost any power but it's mid flight characteristics can easily be controlled by release angle. That's what makes this disc so great. If you have never bought anything from Viking start right here .

This disc is sensitive, if you have a smooth release it flies exactly like the numbers say. If you have a power arm and the disc has vibration out of the hand its turning over but will come out eventually.

I primarily use this disc as a forehand fairway driver. Very predictable fade, and stays more stable than the typical Speed 7 fairway driver. It definitely fills a space in my bag as my go to fairway or long approach disc when a forehand is needed.

The Storm plastic feels like tacky Star and this disc flies truer to it's flight numbers than any disc I've ever thrown. Glides in a straight line forever, then finished gently on fade. Five stars.

I don't understand why Viking Discs isn't a household name yet. I have thrown up-and-coming brands before that don't quite make the cut as far as quality and consistency among the other big manufacturers, but Viking Discs, is not that! This brand is legit! I have thrown 8 different molds by Viking Discs and I would recommend all of them to anyone! Their plastics feel great, and the flights are amazing as well. Not to mention the sick stamps on every disc! Do yourself a favor and try some Viking Discs!

Now... on to the Barbarian. Great disc! Overstable but not stupid overstable. Very controllable fairway. This thing loves to follow your commands but at the end of the flight, it's gonna realize it can control itself and its going to fade. Very grippy, durable plastic and great feel in the hand. Don't miss out on the Barbarian, you are going to love it! Check out my crew's full review of the Barbarian here...

This is my first review and this disc has forced me to do it, otherwise it would not be justice towards this little knows brand and disc. This is the straightest flying disc in my bag with a touch of hyzer in the end. The numbers are pretty much accurate and it can be considered as the copy of faster teebird with a gentle turn in the middle of the flight if thrown straight.

True to the flight numbers. This is staying in my bag. Flies so straight with gentle fade. I'll be throwing this disc a lot. I Hope to see more color options in the Armor plastic. Blue please. Easy for me to see, being colorblind...

I wanted to try Viking plastic, so I picked up a Barbarian in Storm plastic. I needed a more overstable alternative to my Valkyrie, and this is it. Keep in mind mine has some battle scars, and while the plastic isn't as durable as Opto, it still is very durable. Speaking of which, plastic feels great, a bit in between Champion and Opto, a bit too slick for my liking but overall not bad. Flies like the number, almost exactly. Mine might turn a bit because it hashit some trees, but I'd definitely  recommend it for a dependable fairway driver with a good, but not excessive amount of fade. Keep in mind I through around 265' on a really good day, so more powerful thrower's results might vary.

I threw a 176g Barbarian in Storm plastic, which is a comfortable, slightly flexible, yet durable translucent plastic. I would say that the Barbarian is the Viking's equivalent of an Innova Teebird, or a Discraft Undertake, with a very reliable flight path. It worked well for a variety of throws where I needed control and precision. It always had a gentle end fade, but only after covering good distance. I was able to bomb it with some power without having the disc flip over. It held anhyzer lines fine before fading out of them right at the end, plus it could be thrown with accurate hyzer lines as well.

Just like I feel that the Valhalla distance driver should have been the first power distance driver from the Viking Discs, rather than the Thunder God Thor, I also feel like the Barbarian should have been the first control driver, rather than the very understable Cosmos. But alas, they all fill their own spots in the bag, and I like that the Viking brand is building a stronger disc arsenal for a variety of players.

The Barbarian would make a fine starting driver for a new player. It may be a bit overstable for them at first, if they have a low arm speed, but it will teach them how most discs fly and they can build up their power with it. It certainly isn't the most easy-throw disc on the market, but it does follow a very common flight path that can help them get a feel for the game, and as they gain throwing power, it will still be very useful for a huge variety of shots.
