Undertable discs are a new player's best friend, and this hidden gem quickly became my favorite midrange in the bag! It is great for any shot shaping you may need in an approach shot, but I find it to be best used for gentle hyzers around corners where the understability can carry it and push further down the fairway. The early turn make for effortless hyzerflips as well and the glide keeps the disc in the air for longer than you'd expect with how little power is needed to make it go.

I ABSOLUTELY love this disc! I have only been playing for a year; and this product, has probably been my best purchase! This is the first disc I got to flip, and has really helped me learn hyzer! I would recommend this disc to everyone, especially those first starting out! You have to practice and spend time with it, but the Tursas will teach you alot!

The Westside discs Tursas is a very solid disc. In VIP plastic this thing feels great in the hand. It is very domey and has a ton of glide and distance for a midrange. I can easily push this disc 20' farther than any other mid I have thrown thrown. I typically only use this disc for hyzer flips that drift right without much finish. This is a really solid disc but for me it just has a tendency to turn over a little to harshly without coming back. If you are a beginner or have a slower arm speed, though, this disc could be exactly what you are looking for.

This disc is easily the most thrown disc in my bag and was the first disc that I really fell in love with. I bag one in VIP and a few in Orgio-Burst.

The VIP plastic is sturdy, grippy, and will take dye quite well if you're someone who dyes their discs.

    As far as its flight:
    - its initial turn will help beginners get a bit more distance from their throws
    - once you get more experienced its turn becomes a valuable and dependable tool for throwing soft S-curved shots that don't fade too hard
    - the low fade and high glide makes this disc my favorite disc to watch soar through the air
    - if thrown too hard, this disc will fly right on a RHBH and you may not see any leftward fade. I didn't see this behavior till my form and power improved

Out of the box Tursas Vip is a fun hyzer-flip forehand disc. It has a low profile which suits my forehand and it is easy to flip up and shape shots with. I wish it was a tad more stable though and after beating in its impossible to control and mostly becomes a roller. I hope that Westside makes it in Vip-X.

This was the first (and still the only) midrange I could reach 300 feet with.

    Haven't tried it backhand yet.

This is a GREAT understable midrange with glide that is unreal.  I am not a power thrower but can get this mid out past 300' easily because it just wants to stay in the air.  Out of my hand it flips up to flat, holds that for a bit, then slides to the right never turning over to catch edge.  In the last 10% of the flight, the Tursas just sits down and slides.

Wow, this disc is great. Flight description: flips up from slight hyzer release, gets a little rightward movement starting about 50% into its flight, and settles back to flat or slight fade in the last 10% of its flight. That's on a 250-300 foot shot. If you're really putting a lot of spin and speed into the disc, you might see more turn. But not nearly as much turn as the DGA Tremor. Plus, this has more glide than all of my mid ranges right now. More than the Buzzz, Mako3, Roc3, etc. It just carries really far when thrown properly. I purchased mine in the VIP plastic at max weight.

This is an excellent choice for beginners or slower arm speeds. It is a disc that requires a bit of finesse to make work, but like many others here have said, it does work in the woods and for touch shots. When hyzer flipped, it will pop up to flat and drift to the right (RHBH) with a reliable fade at the end, which I imagine will go away with a few more tree hits. A great touch disc, but not so great for bigger arms.

For a beginner this would be a very good disc to use to start out with. For a beginner, they can throw this very straight for quite a distance with very large speed consistently. Intermediate players will use this Disc more as a utility disc. Overall it is very good feeling disc very consistent disc is very trusting overall. The only thing I don't like, which is for all under stable discs, if thrown too hard it'll hook hard right for a RHBH player. When you first get it, it'll fade pretty hard but once it's broken in a little bit it seems to become a slightly more stable overall so don't get too frustrated when you first get in just give it some time.

158g VIP Tursas - This is my go-to utility disc for basically every single type of shot. This disc has a surprising rim; the rim is really shallow for a mid-range. The shallow rim is a lot more like a fairway driver, and I can throw this thing so dang far. Well, far for me, anyway. This disc is amazing. It can make so many different shot shapes, and for me, I can throw every single shot shape, including a really long roller. This is my utility disc for any length, and it is my go-to mid-range, but, like I said, it has a rim that is much more like a fairway, so it is great for those players with small hands. This disc is great for beginners, but is also a rather workable mid-range for more experienced players, or an intermediate player who has been playing for a few years, like me. Mine has just a little bit of a dome, but is more of a flat-top disc. If you want a Westside Discs understable version of the Emac Truth, you should get a Tursas!

I just got a VIP Tursas and started throwing it and I'm impressed! I like the feel in my hand, it almost feels like a fairway driver, but it's definitely a midrange. Brand new out of the box it flies very consistently for me on different angles. Heavy hyzer: holds the line, glides very far, finishes softly with only a little skip. Slight hyzer: Rides very flat, glides forever, finishes left softly. Flat: Rides flat with a little right turn, glides forever, finishes left or straight. Slight anhyzer: Rides the line for a long time, glides less, either flips up finishes slow left or slightly right if not straight. Heavy anhyzer: Rides the line for a bit, heads straight for the ground when it loses power, finishes right or cut rolls. It's a very consistent disc and I'm just starting to learn throwing it with different angles and power, but I think it will make the bag eventually.

DISCLAIMER: I had one concern when I first received the disc. On the rim, where a bead normally would be, there was a very slight but noticeable uneven flash. It was a little more sharp on one side than the other. I'm sure this was just a residual from the molding process and would have worn off with consistent use, but I took a bit of Scotch-Brite to it ever so slightly and evened it out. It's not noticeable at all anymore. Just be aware to check each disc you receive for little things like that, you never know what you will get!

I have thrown various VIP Tursas and they are all consistently the same. They are an excellent, easy to control understable midrange.

    5 5 -3 1 are the flight numbers i give this disc.

Feel: very comfortable with slight dome and comfy rim

Glide: It has a ton of glide and I can get this out as far as a fairway driver when thrown at the right angle.

Hyzer Flip: This disc hyzerflips with ease and will even hyzer flip to gentle turnover when thrown with enough speed.

Anhyzer: I have made soem incrdieble shots with this disc on huge anhyzer lines. To avoid tall trees I have put this disc up high and it will turn to the right (RHBH) the whole flight within turnign into a roller.

Straight: Thrown flat with controlled speed and snap, this thing will have a slight turn with a slight LS fade for a very straight flight. The glide will enable this disc to get distance with thrown soft for the straight shot.

These are the shots I use this disc for and it excels. A must have for me.

The Tursas is definitely most thrown midrange. I use it for a number of different shots. Its my go to disc for turnover approach shots. Off the tee for holes that are about 250-300 feet and finish right. It is also great for scrambling. I use it for shots on the edge of the fairway with rough on my left. I can throw it with a floaty anhyzer forehand and it will glide and glide before straightening out.

The best thing about the Tursas is its glide. I can barely put power on it yet it will just keep flying. If you are new to the sport, you can really throw it hard and it will go very straight. If you have a bigger arm, you can take off some power or hyzerflip it.

    Love this disc!!!

The Tursas is a nice understable midrange from Westside Discs. This disc will probably not be your workhorse mid unless you play at mostly wooded courses that require technical shots, but it is a great hyzerflip and turnover mid. The plastic feels grippy and very durable, and should last you awhile. The Tursas is a great disc for newer players to the game as well, it doesn't require a ton of power to get it working.

Very good understable midrange. When thrown flat, with good pace, it will turn nicely with minimal fade unless you release it a little high and the nose gets up. We have several holes on my home course that are moderately wooded and requires a long turn of 250-280 to reach the basket. This disc is perfect for those holes if thrown properly. It will turn over if your arm angle is too high and especially if you overthrow it.  Trust your form, pull it level and give it enough speed to hold a flat line and create a good sweeping turn. It’s a beautiful thing to see when thrown correctly. Very consistent disc for me and fits nicely as my understable mid. I love the VIP plastic and it holds its numbers well over time.

I love this disc! As a utility mid I still probably throw it anywhere from 8-12 times a round. I use it for a variety of shots, most commonly I use it on holes that turn to the right, but are too far out for me to throw a sidearm. When I put about 20 degrees or so of hyzer on it and give it a good rip, it flips over and turns to the right. Only fading back when I give it enough height (time) to come back. Thrown flat or very slight hyzer it can take a sever 90 degree turn in a pretty short amount of time.  Thrown with severe hyzer, it will flip up and glide slightly to the right, and fade back left. A staple in my bag.

I was recently given one of these discs by Kelly Tucker who is a pro player for Westside discs. I have not yet developed an adequate sidearm and she took this disc out of her bag for me to try. I had never birdied this particular hole did not have high hopes. Threw it straight leaving it left of the tree and then the disc performed its magic. The Tursas began its gentle glide to the right and came within a foot of being an ace. Super easy to turn over and has given me another element in my game. Go get one now if you are just starting out and plan to play a round in the future.

I have used the Tursas off and on for a while, and it has only recently moved to a more permanent spot in my bag. I have always loved the Tursas, but recently I have been depending on it and the lines it can provide more and more.

I throw a VIP Tursas 177g and it flies just like it says; and understable glidey mid. I can throw this disc on a hyzer and it will flip up to flat and continue turning right before lightly finishing. I can throw it on a light, high anyhyzer line and it will slowly flatten. With enough height it always finishes nicely. I also have been using it for light dogleg right holes because of its soft finish.

I will admit, it serves a very specific purpose for me, and I don't use it a ton, but when I need a certain line it does the job better than anything else. I was recently at a tournament and used my Tursas on a lot of unique lines that got me a lot of good looks for birdies and tough pars.

I wouldn't go to play a serious round without an understable mid at this point, and the Tursas is by far my favorite. It feels great in my hand and has an awesome flight. I have thrown a few and the one I have now has quite a bit of dome, but is very gradual. It is the most stable one I have had, and my favorite.

    Tursas Revisited

So if you scroll all the way down on these reviews, you will see that I first reviewed this disc over 3 years ago. I didn't care for it then...but my buddy swears by it so I gave it some throws today on some tight wooded holes. His was brand new.

I have to say...I really don't like this disc. Now, I do not currently bag a true understable mid. I have always found it better for me to wear down a Roc to get the understable flight I need, but I have toyed with Stingrays off and on for years. The Tursas is probably the most understable mid I've ever thrown. Putting it on hyzer and backing off the power of my throw, it would flip to flat but then quickly turn, finishing off line to the right (thrown RHBH)...thrown flat? Forget it...this thing is burning.

This is a mid that is really good for low power players, but I really don't see a need for it in an experienced players bag. Especially with the Warship in Westside's lineup, which you can manipulate to do anything the Tursas can, but better.

VIP 173g. Big, Big fan of this disc. It is perfectly understable. With power throws it goes straight then glides out on nice slow anhyzer while pushing forward to the ground. This is the longest midrange in my bag and easily hits 300+ when flipped on hard throws. With controlled or less powerful throws it is lazer straight with a subtle finish to the anhyzer side. Easy to hyzer flip, put straight, or anti the entire way.

A disc I lovingly dubbed, the Octopotamus, this disc is wonderful for a variety of skill levels. Lower speed arms, or beginers, will love the stable to slightly understable flight, and consitent glide. More advanced and stronger players will love the versatility of the Tursas, and the variety of shots that can be covered by manipulating different angles on release. If you're looking for an understable compliment in you Mid lineup, don't hesitate to give the Tursas a once over.

The Tursas has become my favorite mid-ranges and one of my favorite all around discs.  I don't have a big arm so this disc allows me to do things I can't do with many discs and that's hyzer-flip.  I definitely throw a harder hyzer than flat so this allows me to really throw hard flip up flat with minimal fade.  I love it.  If I need it to turn over and stay right, I just use a little hyzer and it turns for me.  The disc also has a nice feel bad releases well each time.

I picked up a Westside Tursas in VIP plastic 169g, and although I generally couldn't care less about the appearance of my discs, this one is "pretty." The stamp is awesome, and the combination of the color (a translucent light blue) and the stamp get a lot of compliments from those I play with. As for its flight characteristics, I've had a chance to throw this disc about a hundred times, both in the field and on the course, and I will concur with what most people have already said - this is a niche disc for turnover shots that you need a slow, substantial turn for. Unlike what some have said, I do NOT get driver distance out of this disc, as throwing it with any substantial power on less than a significant hyzer release will yield a roller. When released flat, this disc has made up its mind that it will go right, and it will continue to go right until it hits something or lands. My max drives are in the 340-360' range, and I would be shocked if this went over 270' with even my most flush attempts. If you are looking for a "gentle S" or a "slight hyzer finish," look elsewhere. This bad boy will probably let you down unless you throw it incredibly slow. I purchased this along with the Innova Foxbat (in star plastic) with the need for an understable midrange in my bag, and I was going to let those two discs fight it out. This will sound strange but I intend to keep both of them in my bag, specifically because the Tursas is SO understable, that it may come in handy that one time you need it to do what it does. As much as I was hoping it would be, it is not a workhorse midrange disc, but it is still awesome at doing what it does, hence my 4-star rating.

As I've been able to develop my more advanced disc golf skills, I find that I have been using the Tursas MORE. Now that I've dialed in my hyzer flip skills, the Tursas is getting pulled out more and more often than ever, especially on low ceiling, very narrow hallways. I cannot release it flat at power, unless I want a roller. When I put a steep hyzer release on it, it flips up and floats for days. Narrow, low ceiling hallways from 220-300 are ideal for this disc. I flip a Tursas low and watch it do the rest. If you flip it right, its the longest mid I've ever thrown (especially in a tailwind.) Now to be clear, Im doing this with a max weight VIP. My lighter Tournament will just keep turning and turning (its beat up too.) So, if you're a beginner, get a Tursas and throw it flat. If more experienced, flip these low to the ground and watch 'em soar (for a mid.) Hyzer flip and easy rollers? This is the mid you want.

EDIT: I foolishly misread some tee signs for some example pins, that part has now been omitted.

I have a 170 gram VIP Tursas.  It has a small role in my bag, but fills it well (understable mid).  It is understable, but not so understable that I have to be too concerned about it turning and burning.  I generally don't throw it full power rhbh unless I'm throwing with a tailwind or uphill.  It is a fairly accurate disc for me that I can shape some lines with and also is fairly long for a mid.  Good disc, though with it's small role in my bag I can't say it's a must have.

This is it. The disc can perform on so many levels and is super durable just like you'd expect from the Trilogy plastics. Long rollers, long turn over shots, hyzer flips, glidey turnover shots that finish flat...BOOM! I never play a round without this disc even if I don't end up needing it. My VIP Tursas is in the bag, but get's thrown rarely. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome disc... I just don't find many times where I'm in need of a mid as understable as the Tursas is. However, as a lefty, when I play tightly wooded righty-dominate holes, and I need a faithful slow turnover, I grab the Tursas. Such a nice profile and grip and the plastic is excellent. But this disc is definitely just for turnovers. You won't see it fighting back out of even the slightest anhyzer, but if you're looking for a good out-of-the-box turnover mid with a stellar stamp, pick up a Tursas.

I have a 172 VIP Tursas, and I love it. I don't throw it hard, so it doesn't really fly the understable path the flight chart and numbers would suggest. Instead, I get a pretty straight and quite long flight out of it. Much like other understable discs form Westside/Lat 64, like the Diamond and the Underworld, it's is hard to believe how far these fly with so little effort. Glide seems to be their speciality. I love throwing this disc on tight fairways - because I don't need to throw it hard, I can get long controllable flights out of it. The VIP plastic is awesome as well, extremely durable, yet nice grip at the same time.

With any power behind it the Tursas VIP will always flip or turn over to the right (RHBH). This is one of 3 discs I carry for predictable approaches; Crystal Buzzz goes left, Champ Aero goes straight and this in VIP goes right assuming I throw each at almost full power with a flat or with slight hyzer release. It can be tricky in the wind, and if you already have a decent midrange anhyzer or forhand approach (I have both) you may not find yourself needing it too much. But it is fun to say Tursas.

I have a tursas in Yellow Vip plastic which is my preferred type of plastic from westside. I havnt decided if im gonna bag it yet or not and heres a few reasons why. The flight of this disc is pretty straight forward. I did find that if i throw it on hyzer it actually holds the line really really well. My buddy said it was "ballsy" to throw this disc on a hyzer in a headwind but it land it a great spot and i didnt regret it. The only problem i have with it is when i throw mine straight she turns and just keeps turning. I cannot get mine to fade and come back. This doesnt help me because most courses i play the baskets are always to my left and not my right ( i am a right handed thrower). Overall this is not a bad disc and if i can get it to fade even just a little i will definitely be sticking it my bag. i wouldnt recommend this disc to begginers due to it being so understable. But if youve been playing for a little while it might work out for you.

This is the first disc I have purchased from Westide. I have been playing disc golf for about 9 months and have recently started branching out and trying other discs from manufacturers other than Innova (the only thing available in my area). My disc is a 165g yellow VIP plastic. The feel of this plastic is very similar to Innova's Champion plastic. It is a clear plastic that you can see through. I personally am not much of fan of Champion plastic because I don't feel like it has enough grip for me. But, I wasn't really having that trouble with this plastic. The stamp on this thing is pretty sweet too. The rim on this disc is kind of in-between a mid and a putter. I have small short hands, and I was able to easily wrap my fingers around the rim and get a good grip. My first throw with this thing shocked me! I drive with mids and this thing flew way further than my other mids. It has a ton of glide to it and just sails through the air. After about 3-4 holes I was starting to get the hang of controlling this disc to go where I wanted it to. It works great for drives for me, but for touch shots, I was having a lot of trouble getting it where I wanted. Because this thing glides so much, it is really sensitive to the power you put on it. It will stay in my bag, but only for driving. After throwing this disc I would be interested in trying out what else Westside makes. This disc really impressed me and I'm glad I tried it out!
