Duh. If you've been around disc golf for more than a week, you know what a zone is. Even as a new player back in 2011, I saw the value of a disc like the zone, despite it not flying very far for me back then. Overstability is the name of the game, and predictability comes along with it. Confidence follows shortly after predictability. Lovely handfeel, forehand and backhand... makes it easy to really crank on. If you can throw forehands and backhands, an overstable approach disc like this really simplifies the game. Give it some anhyzer angle and it'll fly farther than you think as it flexes out, fades, and skips. Enjoy!

The search for approach discs begins and ends with the Zone. Huge variety of plastics, great feel, perfect level of stability for a P&A disc. Z plastic is really durable so your zone stays stable for a long time. ESP FLX is the other plastic in my bag and it is less stable than z but very grippy and likes to sit. Buy one or a lot if you don't have one already.

I absolutely love my Zone.  I practically look for excuses to throw it.  It is my go-to disc for approach situations, and I don’t think I will need another.

Feel: The Zone feels good in the hand.  I will fan grip this on a backhand or go with a forehand.  The disc feels good both ways.  As for plastic, mine is a Z-Line, so it can be a little slippery.  I don’t notice it much, though.

Flight: The Zone flies true to its numbers.  It will hold a hyzer line with a sharp fade at the end.  It will go flat and then end with a very predictable fade.  On an anhyzer, it will flex out of it for a straight flight.  There is really nothing this disc lacks in its approach game!

Is the Zone good for beginners?  Being a beginner myself, I will say definitely yes!  I don’t suggest getting this as your first disc since it is not straight flying on a flat or hyzer angle.  If you are new to putting angles on a disc, this disc will be great for helping you learn how.

To sum up, the Zone is a legendary disc that can have a place in any disc golfers bag.

Summary: The gold standard for overstable approach discs.

Feel: The Z-Line Plastic takes the zone to the most overstable version of it. The zone may be the most widely liked approach disc because it is so short in comparison to others like the harp or tactic. The rim being so short makes this feel closer to the feel of a putter, but definitely has more distance potential than that.

Flight: Quite fast for something that feels more like a putter than a mid like others in the 4 speed class. The zone can seem straight if thrown hard, but has that guarenteed finish that will allow for the consistancy that everyone wants.

The zone is a staple in any players bag looking for a reliable approach/driving putter.  I even know a guy who used to putt with the D line and won a state championship in Michigan.

I love the board flat ones, as it behaves like a baby flat top firebird.  Great for distance control, I highly recommend.

Great for sidearms, like just great, its going to be great, it is great, just you see.

I have thrown the Zone in Pro-D, JawBreaker, Z, Big Z, and Crystal FLX. This is just an overview and not in depth on the plastic types.

Even if you're relatively new to the game you have probably heard of the Zone. Arguably Discraft's second most known disc behind the Buzzz. It works very well as a driving putter, approach putter, or headwind putter. Depending on the plastic type you choose, there are a ton so watch out, yours will stay reliably overstable. In the softer or more baseline plastics, it beats in very nicely to a straight thrower with solid finish. My favorite is Jawbreaker due to grip and just how good it beats in. There is a good reason why so many people throw the Zone as their approach disc.

This disc flies incredibly well. Very predictable overstable finish every time. My problem with the zone is that it is uncomfortable in my hand. The rim is too shallow that I almost can't even throw backhands with it. Granted, I have big hands, but it is a bummer that I can't fully  utilize this disc.

The bread and butter of approach discs. Great for forehand, backhand, and everything in between. Very consistent disc, and you always get the same results depending on what you put into it. There is a reason why this disc is so popular in the pro scene, as well as among casual players. I used it in a recent round and was very pleased with the hyzer flight paths. Also, shoutout to Paul Mcbeth for helping popularize this disc. Now a 6-time world champion and disc golf GOAT!

I bought this disc because most people consider it the best approach disc out there. I can't disagree.  With this disc, approaches can be considered an almost sure thing.  At my local course, I was able to go bogey free for a round by breaking every hole into two shots - a drive that got within 150 ft and an approach.  This disc is solid and worth anyones consideration.

These other companies can make similar discs to the Zone but the Zone is and always will be the best approach discs I've ever had and nothing ever compares to it really, I've had one since i started and i don't know what id do without it, you can go backhand with it off the teeshots, or do standstill forehands for upshots, this disc can basically do anything for you in the medium range, this is my go to disc in the woods cause i know exactly what it is going to do. if you master this disc your approach game will heavily benefit from it and give you easy tap ins.

There's a reason the Zone is considered the greatest approach disc of all time, and in my opinion, it is in the running for the best disc that I've ever laid my hands on. Its overstability makes it the most reliable disc in my bag in any weather conditions. Currently, I can't forehand a disc to save my life, but my Zone makes it so easy. The overstable nature covers a multitude of form errors with forehand approach shots, so I am able to throw it well around the green very consistently. Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to flip my Zone over once, which speaks volumes to the disc's reliability. Discraft's Z Line plastic is remarkably durable, and despite whacking this thing into a tree many times, it still has held up without any cosmetic damage or altered flight characteristics.

The Discraft Zone is a must-have in the bag of any serious disc golfer. It is absolutely essential to have near the green to control the distance of approach shots. It is very beginner-friendly because of its low speed, and in my opinion, a Zone will shave strokes off of your score if you don't have something like it already.

The best approach disc in the game. It's comfortable for backhand and sidearm shots. It is much more comfortable than something similar to it like the Harp, Berg or Breaker due to it being slightly shallower. The best beadless approach putter in the game.

The Zone will never leave my bag. I've had Harps, A3's, Stabilizers, Aviar3's and Roc's but this is the Approach King! it doesn't stay in the air long, goes where it says it should.

I have a Z, Z Sparkle LE and they are beefy, never had an ESP but I hear they are a bit less stable

Lives for the wind, BH or FH, it doesn't matter. Can't wait for my Hammes Glow to get here. Its a long march North!

I grew up in a small city/large town in Michigan where the local course was designed with forehand players in mind. As a result all my friends back home throw wicked sidearms, and I didn't pick up disc golf until I was an adult and lived somewhere with a course where I could throw a backhand and stay in the fairway.

I wish I knew then what I know now. The Zone is practically designed to be a forehand trainer. It's silly how much I like this disc. I don't throw backhand approaches anymore. Between circle 1 and 2 I will always forehand my Zone. Up to ~150 feet I'm forehanding my Zone. Uh oh, the wind just picked up and I need to make a delicate shot? I'm forehanding my Zone.

That's not to say it isn't a perfectly suitable backhand disc. It is, but more often than not when it would be a good fit for a backhand I usually have a different disc that's better suited.  This is one of the downsides to it being such an overstable, low speed disc. The other downside is that with it being so overstable it hides form imperfections: off axis torque, slight anhyzers, etc... This doesn't make it bad, but it does mean it has limitations as a pedagogical tool.

If you want to work on your forehand buy this disc, it's been nothing but good to me. If you're worried it'll mess up your form or hide mistakes, get it anyway, and get something less stable as a form indicator disc (I've heard the Comet is a good choice, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet). In the meantime, while you work out the kinks, throw this, and impress your friends.

    Elite Z Zone

I can't add much that hasn't already been said. It is simply a great disc for what it is designed to do. It is my regular FH approach disc and BH when I need something that can't glide too far. It is even my putter in significant wind. That might be due to my lack of putting skills, but I digress. Nonetheless, I know that when I stare down a basket with significant wind, I feel much more confident with this in my hand.

Overall, there are many uses for this disc. The fade is for real but you can still throw a remarkably straight FH if necessary. Odd flex shots - check. There aren't many rounds that I do not pull out my Zone and disc does not disappoint.

I never thought I would find a disc mold that would knock the Harp out of my lineup, but once I tried the Zone in Z plastic, it was over. All the things I love about a flat top, low profile, overstable putter, and with no bead. I am a huge fan and I recommend a zone to anyone looking for a torque resistant overstable putter.

I think all disc golfers know what this disc represents. Great approach disc, I especially like it for forehand. This disc fights the wind amazing and had a predictable fade on it. I can throw this around 200ft forehand and maybe 260 backhand if I really try to crank one out there. In general, fantastic disc.

Bought this disc in the Crazy Tuff plastic and am happy I did. This is the Zone I grab when I want to stick the landing like a gymnast. This thing has minimal ground speed in this plastic. As for it being crazy tuff, well..... it's not horrible, but it's not great. I mean as soon as I felt it I knew it was gonna break in quick, but I'm ok with that. It's still a Zone stability wise. Over. Stable. Period. I rated this disc four stars just because of the plastic name and not one other reason.

I think this disc is the best fh approach disc on the market it flies straight and then dumps hard enough to fight wind be a reliable disc but not to hard like the a2 which dumps really hard. Also, z line skips a little but the get freaky crystal flex zones pretty much just sit so you can have on the skips and one that sit for all your fh approach needs. bh this disc is like i said not to os but just the right amount of os also it is very comfortable for both fh and bh. it does not have much glide so it will help with distance control but just fall out of the sky. Great disc i have 1 or 2 in my bag at all times, would definitely recommend to someone else who is looking for an os approach disc that is good for fh and bh.

Do you know why you see the famous black Zone in Paul McBeth's hand so often every tournament? It's because it is Discraft's best disc. Period. Just look at how insanely high its user ratings are here on Infinite! The Zone is actually the ultimate reliable approach disc in all of disc golf. Think of it as a sand wedge; it will not give amazing distance but will provide exceptional short-game utility. It is very torque resistant and can handle a forehand, flying really nice and straight and then finishing with an amount of fade dependent on the height. Flicked low and hard, the Zone will drop toward the ground faster than it has time to fade. My brother carded an ace in a tournament with a low Zone flick that skipped in. Soft high anhyzer flicks are another of my favorite shots with this disc because the disc gently fights out of the anny as it flies. I use this shot to scramble out from behind obstacles. Finally, for backhands I can get my Zone out to about 225 feet with a healthy fade at the end. I grab this as my backhand approach disc if I have a hyzer line available or if there is a headwind. The Zone will be forever in my bag because it flies the exact same every throw.

The Zone is board flat with a shallow, beadless rim. It feels a lot like the rim of my beloved Mako3, and they complement each other nicely in my approach lineup: Mako3 for tailwind laser beams and Zone for headwind laser beams. Z  and Z Flx plastics are surprisingly grippy and are perfect for this mold. Plus they are beautiful, so get your favorite color! I like a nice blue Zone. My brother bags green.

If you have been playing disc golf long enough to fully understand everything I have said above, you owe it to yourself to slot some kind of overstable approach disc. There are a ton of options available, so go with what fits your hand, power, and natural release. Harp, Pig, Rhyno, Gator, Caiman, AviarX3, Drone, Buzzz OS, and Justice are some overstable approach/midrange alternatives that are worth considering. Your game will appreciate the utility! But why not try the OS approach disc used by the world's best disc golfer?

The absolute best approach disc ever created. The Z line plastic is nice and stable. It's not a meat hook or anything, but is extremely torque resistant, and has a consistent and semi heavy fade. I bag a Z line and much beefier Darkhorse CryZtal Flx, that is almost like a justice. Forehand or backhand 100-300 ft this thing is money.

I got this disc after playing for a while but boy was I surprised how many huge putts and drives I started making with it.  anything within 200 ft is easy game for parking and sometimes those shots would hit the chains.  It was very surprising because the second throw I made I hit a 100 ft birdie and thought it was just pure luck.  But as the round continued I kept hit the basket and even making another 75+ ft putt.  Not that I'm that good but I think the disc is easy to throw straight at the chains and have the action on an S bend come back to straight in front of you.  Its mostly about judging distance on your throw.  Can't recommend enough for forehand drives & Putts under 200 ft. Got the Brodie Get Freaky.

Quite simply, my favorite mold. If I'm within 150 feet or so, I'm trying to throw this disc as often as possible. Shallow and flat, it feels fantastic for forehands, but it's also comfortable for backhands. Most people use this mainly as an approach disc around the basket, but the Zone is so reliable and torque resistant that I use it as my overstable midrange as well. It has that big reliable fade we all know and love, but if you get enough power behind it, the Zone really can get some decent distance and fly like a midrange.

The Zone really is a cheat code disc. Feels incredible, flies incredibly, and the results will speak for themselves.

I got this disc originally in ESP plastic and I absolutely loved it inside of 150 feet. I used it just about on every hole or anything that required a disc that I could really hyzer around a tree or obstacle. I ended up getting the ESP one beat in and picked up a Z line one to get the stability back. One of my favorite discs I carry in my bag. I love it for a driving putter as well that I can disc down and just rip one down the fairway. If I put a good angle on it then this disc can easily break 300-325+ for me. I wouldn't recommend it as an actual putting putter unless you have a tough lie and need to really put a fancy angle. Excellent utility disc that I would recommend to any level player that needs something they can trust.

If you're in need of an over stable putt and approach disc look no further than the Zone I throw the Zone mainly in the Z line plastic but for upshots back hand or forehand I reach for the X soft plastic when I need a more sit and hit shot. I would recommend this disc for anyone with good form and starting to grow in the game. If you're a lower arm speed player however you may prefer the Ringer Gt over this mold this disc. For beginners the Zone will have a harsh fade at the end of its flight and wont give much if any distance after the release. However if you have a faster arm speed you will find this disc to be very consistent with a less harsh fade out at the end of the flight and a much more controlled flight with minimal skipage on the fairways and greens. However if you are a slower arm speed player and want to try out a zone I would recommend getting a X soft or a Pro D plastic they beat if very quickly and have a good amount of glide added to them and also tend to be less over stable then the Z line Zone

My favorite disc to date. I suck at forehand, but with this disc I can always put in near the basket from 100 feet out. Backhand I can always expect about 200-250 ft straight and then a nice little skip left at the end. What makes this disc so valuable to me is the blunt nose and flat top, making it very comfortable to throw forehand. When in stock, this disc can be made in many different plastics which is another bonus. Z and ESP plastics are some of my favorites and knowing I can get a zone in either is clutch.

The zone in my opinion is the best approach disc in disc golf as of right now. I have o my owned zones in Z Line plastic and the love the flight characteristics on the zone in that plastic. The zone is an over stable approach disc that has many uses. I mostly throw forehand shots with this disc. It has a very flat flight plate, thick rim, and it is a pretty shallow disc which really allows you to get a comfortable grip on the disc. It is very torque resistant and can withstand a lot of power. It's a disc that I can't trust to always fade regardless of whether I throw it forehand and backhand. Advanced players can really utilize this disc for a variety of shots and new players can use it for that disc that will always fade. It's not super beginner friendly but I think anyone could find a use for it.

I have a Z Zone and a Titanium Zone. Both are very os but the Z Zone is probably the most os under 5 speed disc I've seen. I personally prefer the Z Zone for forehand and would say I like about the same for backhand. I've never been a huge fan of Titanium plastic, although it's nice for the Zone. The Titanium Zone pushes a little farther than the Z Zone but is still reliably os. The Zone overall is a very flat not super deep rim os putter. Do not like for putting but one of the best upshot discs I've used

I have two Zones and one is Z plastic and the other is ESP.  The Esp is a little bit less overstable while the Z is a bit more overstable than expected.  In my experience, they are not much like a Pig like everyone says but they fill their own spot IMO.  I would recommend the Z plastic if you already have a pig or something like it and the ESP if you are just getting into super overstable approach discs.

This disc is the real deal. I love it for flex up shots, just haven't quite dialed in the spike hyzer yet. Within the first week, I've shaved off several strokes by having this disc in my bag. Used an A4 before which was a little too understand for me, and I'd over shoot/hold a line too long. Feels great in the hand for FH & BH, relatively shallow/small rim. Still has some meat to it so you can hold onto something solid. GF uses one in Jawbreaker which is very good for when you need a shoot, while the Z plastic gets a great skip on forward moving shots. Looking forward to trying an A3 and comparing!

This disc wow. I used to throw a 10 year anniversary zone and there was nothing that could match its comfort or reliability. I tried Tactic's, Caiman, Mortar, Rat, Rhyno etc and always went back to the zone. This is a great disc and everyone should have one in their bag. Sadly however I've moved on and gone with the Pig as it is something that for me has matched to comfort of the zone.

Wait, did i say the Force was my favorite disc? Ok, it is - but this is a very close second. Predominantly forehand, i can do damn near anything with this disc out to 250. Lasers, hyzers, forehand anny approaches around obstacles, short cut rollers, scoobers, tomahaws... It's like throwing a brick. An aerodynamic one, yes - but it is just so damn reliable in its fade and ability to stick the ground. I throw Z, Esp, Jawbreaker and a Z Glo Sparkle. Jawbreaker is my favorite at the moment. I do throw backhand, too, and i pull this out in *any* headwind at all to putt with. I don't have to change my putting style at all, just the angle of release. It's a putter, don't be afraid to putt with it. (Note: i am not a Discraft-only guy. I'm a mutt. I find discs that work for me, no loyalty at all lol)

    Disc - 174 Discraft Z Zone

Feel - The Zone is a very comfortable disc in the hand. For a putter, it is not super deep and fits nicely in the hand for backhand and forehand shots. Z plastic is very durable but the grip is not good in bad weather conditions.

Flight - The Zone is just overstable. There's not much more that can be said other than the fact that it is reliably overstable and can fight almost any wind. In my opinion, it's the best approach disc on the market because of its comfortable feel and reliable flight. If you don't have a zone I would definitely recommend one.

Overall - The zone is a great disc that I would recommend to all players because I believe having this disc will help shave strokes off of your game.

There is so much hype around the Zone because it is worth the hype. I have a Z line zone max weight and it is perfect for forehand up shots and backhand up shots as well. It is reliable and can be used in many different ways. It is reliably over stable even on a good rip. It is much to overstable to putt with but very good for a throwing putter if that's what you were looking for. Great disc

I moved away from the Innova Pig in favor of these due to them having a wider selection of plastics, consistency in runs and availability. I can squeeze an extra 30-40ft out of a pig vrs my zones but for the reasons mentioned above this imo is THE best FH approach disc out there. Every plastic they come in is great and pretty dead on with the flight #s (if you believe in such things) brand new. ESP seems a touch glider and the Z-lines you can play for some great skips. Can't say enough good things about this mold. Always fun to throw, always reliable. Id give it an extra star if I could!

I have had many different types of zones as hand me downs from my brother. They always were super comfy in the hand, and had a slightly shallower feel than the harp. This combined with a very reliable fade made for a perfect backhand and forehand approach disc.

After I lost my trusty legdstone zone I decided to buy a Paul Mcbeth signature Z zone. When my disc arrived I was surprised to see it had a decent dome to it. I'm not sure if it was a manufacturing defect because most zones are board flat but I went with it. The dome did not affect the flight of the disc at all and if anything made it more overstable. It did make the disc feel a little awkward on both a forehand and backhand. I have since bought another flat zone and have been using it as my go to forehand approach disc.

The Zone is one of the few discs that truly lived up to the hype when I tried it. They have a board flat, slim profile that feels perfect for a forehand grip, but that isn't to say you can't use them for any backhand shot that's short and needs to fade.  The Z plastic is extremely durable and has great feel as well.

The best part about the zone is that not only is it perfect for those forehand hyzer approaches, it works great for throwing a soft anhyzer that slowly fights back to land flat.  That type of shot is very useful for people coming over from any overhead throwing sport since the higher release point is most likely more natural than the true sidearm.

I tried Aviar 3's, Aviar X3, Rat,  but when I finally found the Zone my search for a truly overstable approach disc ended.  I have 2 Z FLX Zones that I will not play a round of disc golf without.

I have what I'd rate charitably as a 'utility only' forehand, and this is one of the only discs I'm comfortable ripping a forehand with, because I know it will keep bringing me back to center even with my bad form.  Predictable, feels great in the hand and it gets me close to the pin forehand or backhand.  Just don't expect it to fly straight, it never will!

This disc is a complete brick. I throw this for any shots less than about 250' and upshots as it is reliable into headwinds and for touchy placement shots. My only complaint is that the underside of the rim is smooth and sometimes comes out just a hair early when I'm throwing with extra power. Might just be that I'm using a Z-plastic instead of ESP. Overall very useful disc for short, open holes, hyzers and upshots. Also great for distance control where I know I must not go long.

My favorite approach disc! One of the discs that I believe everyone should have in their bag. The gold standard for overstable approach discs. I use my 175g zflx zone for 90% of my approach shots, and plenty of short tees. Works equally well forehand or backhand (as opposed to the harp, which is a bit taller and felt awkward for backhands). Very little groundplay thanks to the softness of zflx, which also has a great grip and is very durable. I get a bit more skip out of my McBeth Z zone, but it's otherwise the same. The zone might be too o/s for brand new players, but would be a great approach disc for anyone who can put any kind of power into it.

Z Line Zone (174g) - The Zone is a great disc! These are really helpful in rounding out a player's game and I recommend them to everyone. I've reviewed the Pro-D Zone which was the first one I bought. I like the concave top and firm, grippy plastic, beadless, shallow rim, in addition to the overstability and lack of ground play. The Z Line is a little different, because the top is very slightly domed and the plastic is obviously more slippery so it slides more when it lands. That can be an advantage for sure, but it depends on what you need the disc to do. I think the rounded (or at least flat) top gives this disc a little more glide than Pro-D, but also makes it a little less overstable. I sort of go back and forth on keeping the Z Line in my bag, but so far I've kept it. It is definitely more useful as a backhand disc than the Pro-D, because while it still fades it is a more reasonable about flying straight first.

Z 174g. This disc is something everybody needs. A overstable throwing putter. I compare it to a slower beadless MD5, more overstable gator. Its something that is point and shoot with hyzer. I prefer it for forehand to backhand but both are good. Little glide.

I get why Paul and all other Discraft players throw it. I only give it a 4/5 because of comfort in hand, I am 6' 3" so bigger hands.

There are very few truly unique discs in the sport of disc golf and there always seem to be some discs that are so unique, many companies try to imitate that disc for their own lineup. The Discraft Zone is the quintessential forehand approach disc and for many will also work as a driving putt and approach disc. I never knew how valuable a forehand putter-lenght shot was until I got a Zone. I had tried to use the Harp for this slot, but could never get it to quite work for me. I would recommend Z-Flx plastic for beginners or those looking for more shaping (more being relative because this thing is quite overstable) and the regular Z line plastic for experienced players. Get one in your bag and your approach game can thank Discraft later.

This is a great approach disc for the veteran player. Beginners could use it but may not get the full effect of it right off the bat. This disc is great if you need it to rip it and know that it is going to go 230+ and need it to end right. If you are in a situation that you need to get 90 degrees right (LHBH) and something is in your way. You can also give it some hyzer and this disc will easily get around and get pass that object know problem but also easily get right.

I still bag the Zone it has become my staple high fade short upshot get around objects disc. This disc will not let you down. It is pretty beefy and will fade. Especially for slower arms. Higher arm speed will get some straight distance but will still get that high fade finish. I feel the Z line feel makes it a little beefier but that could be me.

Great disc to add for the utility slot under the putters. I am a firm believer in having an overstable, controlled, short distance disc in each category. Before I added the zone I was having bad luck in this department. Nothing seemed overstable enough. This is not a putting putter whatsoever. This disc hooks onto fade like carp on popcorn. Great for short fades around bushes and shrubs. Won't skip too much. Has no cares for weather. I use this along with a discraft drone and an Innova monster as Gale wind discs and functional utilities. I often use all of these discs with the thought of "which one?"

The feel is remarkable as a shallow, puddle topped, beadless, driving putter capable for both forehands and backhands. It has a smaller diameter and bigger wing than most putters. I find myself only putting with it when an obstacle is present, or the headwind is fierce. I found its counterpart in the "high speed" putter category with the MVP Tangent. The tangent has a similar diameter, speed, depth, and feel but a dome top and quite understable. An anti-zone.

On a full send this disc goes a controlled 200-250 for me with a control grip. For reference I drive around 400'. Great disc for chopping off distance while keeping form. Throw it at destroyer speeds and get the same line with half the distance.

I will never be without a zone ever again. The other 8 or 9 OS putters I have tried do not compare. They are fetch discs for your boxer. This is a real golf disc.

I have a Ledgestone Color Shift Z Zone, and I freaking love this thing. It's a gorgeous disc, it feels great in the hand, and it's ultra-reliable. I will throw this thing power grip, put anhyzyer on it, and it always fights out and finishes with a fade. It's awesome for sidearms or for extreme hyzer putts as well. Great disc, I can't recommend it highly enough

The Zone absolutely does not want to turn. I have thrown this beautiful disc into many a headwind, and not once has it ever tried to veer off course. Every time I throw this disc I can fully trust that it will come out of its turn and finish left, no matter how much turn I put on it to begin with. Predominantly a RHBH thrower, the Zone always works very well for me when I go for a flick, especially flex ones. The forehand grip with this disc is amazing - mine is almost entirely flat on the top, providing an incredibly comfortable feel in hand. I can not recommend this disc enough. Get a Zone.

In my opinion the Zone is one of the best all around utility discs there is!! It has quickly become my most favorite disc in my bag! I can use to drive with, approach shots and putting! Forehand and back hand this disc is steady and consistent doing exactly what it is supposed to do each and every time. I hit my first eagle with my Zone on a roughly 60ft forehand flick through some trees, dead straight with a nice fade right into the chains! Get one and see for yourself!

The Zone is the greatest overstable approach disc on the market in my opinion. I use my Zone for forehand approach shots around 250 feet and in. I cannot stress how great it feels in my hand being super flat topped and quite shallow compared to similar discs like the Harp. I can rely on the Zone when snapping it with a lot of power as well as with a bit of flex. Anyone looking to learn a forehand should try the Zone!

This is the best disc on the market that is not quite a putter and not quite a mid.  It is great for forehand approaches, short shots off the tee, and sitting down where it hits.  It produces no turn that I can see and fades like a mid.  It is versatile in the woods for straight to hyzer or flex shots.  It is the original Harp.

The Zone is the best forehand approach disc I have ever thrown. I have had a Harp in my bag for about a year, but I wanted something that didn’t have such a deep rim. The Zone was exactly what I was looking for. Its low profile, board flat and overstable. The shallow beadles rim makes it very comfortable and easy to throw smooth forehands.

What else is there to say? - I'll keep it short -

The ZONE is a low profile fast Overstable Putt/Approach/Short-Range disc - It is mainly used for overstable approaches, hyzers, and forehands.  Its great for these duties.  Its typically very flat top and feels very comfortable for Forehand throws (and I'm terrible at forehands)

Its a great disc with many options of plastic and weights so you can get what will work best for you - (It is more OS than a Harp (typically) with less glide)

I've used ESP Zones and they are like 4/3/0/3   most recent a Z Puddle top and it flies like 4/2/+0.5/4 -> super OS - Pro D Zones can be beat in and fly very different so be aware of plastics and weights - but all Zones ARE OS ;)

This is my go to overstable approach disc. They fly very overstable with some glide, and provide a small to medium skip. They are very predictable and do not break in quickly whatsoever. I have owned to Z zones and they fly very similar to one another even after a year of heavy usage. I use this disc when I need an overstable approach shot with forehand or backhand throws. It is also very torque resistant and does not turn over.

Word of advice - if you are looking for a Zone that does not turn over, look towards Z plastic only. ESP and TI are not as torque resistant for some reason.

After having this disc a couple weeks I have learned why this disc is so beloved by those who love them.  I have a 10th Anniversary Elite Z with some shimmer look to it and a BUNCH of metal flake.  To say this disc is as good as it gets for an approach disc is an understament.  It's amazing.

I use it for almost every throw 250 and under.  It is overstable, very much so, but not so overstable you can't learn to use it for almost every hole.  This is no Niche disc that sits in your bag waiting for it's forehand upshot use.  On shorter technical courses I could totally get away with nothing more than my ultra flat Star Firebird, my Elite Z Zone and my Sure Grip Wizard in SSS swirly plastic..

While I don't disagree that this disc is NOT beginner friendly I will say this.  While my wife is not a beginner she is totally not a power thrower nor a super fast arm speed, but she can use my zone (she throws her Harp or a Metal Flake Gator).  This disc can do so much if you just grab one and start experimenting with it.  You will learn some killer uses for a disc like this.  Once you develop some good power and distance it really opens up this discs capabilities.

I wouldn't buy one for a new player, but after a couple months playing and practicing if a new person is showing solid form and a good head for the game and shot shaping, I'd totally recommend this disc.  If you have a complicated or difficult upshot you can trust this one.

Bought an elite z and it looked to purdy to throw. Fiscraft has always been the leader in plastic blends. Test it in field with 30-35mph winds. It can fly flat into headwind and with a tailwind. I was looking for a disc that had the distance between a Harp and a Truth and handle a sidearm throw.  This is it. The course I play on is unforgiving. If you over drive the short holes your down the side of a mountain and are lucky to boogie. Disc works as well throwing downhill as uphill. This disc works well for hitting tight holes.  A hole I play has a rock formation in front of hole and rock formation above hole. You must hit a window to ace. This disc can hit the hole. It throws flat with no lift. It doesn't dive hard either when thrown nose down. The Harp had too deep of a lip and would stick to my finger. This is low profile like a driver and releases cleanly. Feels great in the hand.

I'll start off by saying I've been going on the Infinite Discs website and reading the reviews and buying discs for the past 2-3 years, and this is the first time I've finally felt inclined to write a review (sorry). That in itself should tell you something about how I feel about this disc. I've only been throwing it for the past two months or so but I can already tell you this disc has changed my game more so than any other disc I've ever thrown other than maybe my Firebirds. I already bag 2 of them, an Elite Z and Soft X plastic (soft X is a great new addition to Discraft by the way!). In regards to the disc profile, I absolutely love the flat and thin profile of this disc; if you are someone who doesn't like big profile discs, especially for flicks, this feels outstanding when you grip it. Very shallow.

All I do with this disc is forehand it, but man I can whip this thing full torque up to 275 feet (maybe 300 on a really good throw) and it is DEAD LASER BEAM straight with a reliable soft fade at the end. I never have to worry about turning it over, and I don't have to worry about it crashing hard at the end of flight so I get the best of both worlds- reliable stability with full control. This is as true of a point and shoot disc that I've ever had. I have already birdied a few holes I've never gotten before and would be ecstatic just getting par using this disc. One hole at a course I play a lot is a hard tunnel shot about 265 feet, tennis courts with fence and OB on the right and woods and a nasty hillside on the left that I used to just pray I wouldn't turn over and go down the hill (which usually means an automatic 4) and I've parked it the last three times in a row just throwing the Zone right down the middle. Yesterday at league I made a 100 foot straight uphill approach shot for the birdie using this disc and I've been close many other times; this thing is just so ridiculously accurate.

Getting the Zone is the best decision I've ever made; the fact it took me so many years before deciding to try it out is the worst decision I've ever made. I tried many other overstable putters for this type of shot over the years, and most of them did not have enough stability to prevent turning them over (e.g., Rhynos, Challengers, etc.). I would say the only disc that comes close to the Zone is the renowned Westside Harp, and while I don't feel like it's a bad disc by any means, the Zone wins for me based on two facts. First of all, I have been able to turn over a Harp, whereas I have yet to do that with a Zone. Secondly, the Harp just has a bigger profile where it doesn't feel quite as comfy when I grip it; I don't feel like I can get as tight and secure grip that I can with a Zone. In addition, I've already kicked two other discs out of my bag (DD Justice and the DGA Quake) because the Zone does the same thing for me as those two discs but with more precision and reliability. I have yet to use this in the circle as a putter other than practice, but I would not hesitate to pull it out for that purpose if there is a strong headwind; I just can't speak from experience yet in that regard. All in all, the Zone is an amazing disc off the tee and for approach shots (pretty much anything 275-300 feet and under) that will definitely be staying in my bag for as long as I play disc golf from here on out.
