    Putter Line Soft Details

Discraft Putter Line plastic was a hybrid of the original Pro-D base plastic to upgrade it for increased durability and grip. The Putter Line Soft is a more flexible, softer version of the blend for players who prefer extra soft discs. This 2021 update made the putters feel better for use in differing weather conditions and made it more of a mid-grade plastic blend.

I took up disc golf in the summer of 2019 and watching McBeth nail approaches with those black Z plastic Zones that year en route to his 5x championship inspired me to run out and buy one.

I couldn't throw it to save my life. My backhand sucked and the disc felt crazy overstable. My main disc at the time was a weird ESP/Z Comet, so I probably should have seen that coming. I quickly pulled it out of the bag and it sat for years.

Gradually I've developed a serviceable forehand and a few shots on a new local course seemed to shape up well for a relatively short hyzer forehand shot. I began looking in the direction of a Zone type disc. I knew Z was probably still too OS for me, but my son had a base plastic Tactic. I gave it a try and liked the feel of the plastic. That disc was fine, but a little too deep. I picked a Putter Soft Zone and fell in love. Reliably stable, but workable and super comfortable on both backhand and forehand. I can visualize the line baby flex, flat, hyzer, whatever and hit my target with surprising accuracy. The rocks here in the desert are brutal on base plastics. I suspect it will loose over stability over time and I anticipate working a premium plastic option into the mix. Maybe that pink Z will finally come back into the bag? The popularity of the disc and variety of plastics can make figuring out which Zone is right for you a little overwhelming.

My experience is that starting with a Putter Soft Zone is a very good idea.

I have this disc in 3 different plastics. Titanium, soft, and big Z. I love the soft and the big Z. The soft zone is going to be a less stable than the big Z but when it lands it sticks. Made a sick flick ace with the soft Zone on an elevated basket during my first round with it. The titanium misses the bag even though it is the perfect middle ground between the two discs. Not bad discs in Titanium, but just like the big z+soft combo.  Great usable stability.
