    Pro-D Details

Pro-D is Discrafts affordable basic plastic blend. This isn't the most durable plastic, but it provides good grip and is very affordable. For old school disc golfers that like to "break in" thier discs for varying flight paths, Pro-D is an excellent choice. It is also one of the most popular blends for putters and is often referred to as "putter line" plastic.

I am reviewing this disc in ESP Plastic which is currently sold out. It is a perfect approach disc in my opinion. It is OS enough to not glide past the basket and soft enough to stick where it lands. After a couple months I have beaten some of the fade out but it is still a turn resistant, reliable disc for me.

This is THE most essential disc in my bag right now. Always reliable and very comfortable to throw both backhand and forehand. As a beginner, you're recommended to stay away from overstable discs and while I would agree with that for your first driver, I think everyone needs a disc like this. Especially beginners. I'm not usually just trying to throw my Zone as far as I can, but instead I count on it always fading without turn and getting to the ground relatively quickly. It makes approaching the basket so simple because of the overstability. Just aim a little right of the basket(RHBH) and let the disc do the work for you.

Pro D Zone (175g) - This is definitely my favorite forehand approach disc. Some people throw them really far, but I'm using it more for shots under 120ft. It flexes very easily for those tight wooded courses where you need to shape some shots. For me it is almost unusably overstable for short backhand shots, but that's a really helpful shot occasionally too. They wear in really well, so I have a very old Zone that is super straight and another brand new disc that I know will always finish right even with a lot of anhyzer out of my hand (RHFH).

There's a reason why this has been a signature series disc for P McB his first 2 seasons with Discraft. This is one of the most reliable discs you can put in your bag. I use it for backhand/forehand upshots from 75ft and out. A lot of times I will buy base plastics when trying out a disc for the 1st time. Did the same here for $8 and have never paid so little for a disc that turned out to be so important to my game. Get one and enjoy with me.

Fairly comfortable in the hand for a small guy, but I prefer the depth of the Harp.  The Zone and Harp have almost identical flights.  They are straight shooters until the very end of the flight.  I don't think they are quite a 3 fade.  If you are looking for something to saw off at the end try the Discraft Hornet.

Best approach disc on the market. The pro d version is plenty stable and puddle topped. It flies just like the jawbreaker zone and feels very similar, I'd rather just save a couple bucks and go with d plastic. With some power this disc is basically a overstable midrange, but it really powers down well to make an overstable putter. Perfect FH approach disc, it just releases so easily.

This disc is not that overstable, I keep a Justice alongside it for when more beef is required. The Zflx zone is noticeably more stable, but not at justice or gator levels. It consolidated my bag quite a bit; where I used to keep a FH approach disc (pig), bh overstable driving putter(Aviar3) and overstable mid-range (md4), I now just carry a zone to cover all three shots.

The Zone, from Discraft, is a great option if you are looking for an overstable approach disc. I like the feeling of the Pro-D plastic on this disc and it allows it to break into a disc that could be cycled. In hand, this is a very shallow disc, and mine had a concave top to it. I used it primarily for approach shots, and I found that I could flex this disc, put it on a nice hyzer, or even get it to straighten out for awhile before finishing with a nice fade. I feel like this disc could also be used as a head wind putter. Overall, this is a really fun and useful disc. I am interested in trying some of the other plastics.

The Pro-D Zone was the first disc I truly fell in love with. At the time I never threw putter-like disc for anything but putts. This disc allowed me to become better both forehand and backhand at short approaches. The Zone is the best overstable approach putter on the market hands down.

I have two different Zones, a FLX Z and a pro D. I much prefer the Pro D version. It's slightly domier and slightly less stable, but make no mistake, the Zone is quite stable. The more I throw it, the more I like it. I use it primarily for short, technical shots where I have to go hard left (rhbh). It's not a great putter, but into a strong headwind it can definitely come in handy as a putter. I can see as it ages it could become an excellent all around midrange or even a short driver. I found the Harp more stable, and I prefer the Zone. As it gets seasoned I'm reaching for it more and more.

This is my go-to putter. It is dead nails straight with a heavy left fade. I always aim on the right chains and it hits most times. This is my favorite putter because of it's flatness. I don't like a domey putter and this is the putter i recommend for a lazer beam to the basket inside the circle.

Nice overstable putter. great for headwinds. You can crank these things and they will always come back. pro d plastic will lose a little of the overstability when worn in.

almost a midrange disc. the pro-d is like a slower roc. i love that its flat. I carry a beat pro d and an esp and they cover most of my shots under 300 ft. Hit my second ace with it earlier this week. Love this disc!

Only thrown it a few times so far, but I can't wait to get out with it for a full round to compare it to my wizard. Seems like a pretty good putter.
