As an Aviar guy, tried and true since 1998 this disc was made with me in mind.  From my understanding, the Nova is an over-molded version of the Aviar P&A.  The result is possibly the most neutral throwing putter I have ever thrown.  The Nova will fly precisely how you threw it; challenging to master put yields pure wizardry when achieved.  The disc is deep; comfortable for large hands, and the (rivets?) that secure the overmolding are unobtrusive.  I feel the Nova excels as an approach/throwing putter for shots that follow the rope you drew with your form (dead straight on whatever angle/line you put it on).  I live and play in the Olympic Peninsula (read: why trees?) and sadly it took only a few hits before my Nova's overmolding cracked.  In the end, until the quality of this disc is improved I will continue to throw and putt with Avair P&A's.  Although when Innova retools this, I will buy 20 and be a convert.  Almost SOOO Good!

    175g XT-mix Innova Nova

    Disc#2 in my bag

I have only been playing a couple of months and have been trying to find a putter I really enjoy playing with. I picked the Nova up a few weeks ago and it just feels right. It is a balanced putter that flies mostly straight. I get a slight fade on longer shots, but it is reliable and easy to account for.

The Nova is one of the most reliably straight-flying discs in my bag. I primarily use it for shots off the tee and for approach shots on greens where rolls and skips are a possibility. Because of its ability to grip the ground very well, I also use it for running putts on hills. Since it is an incredibly neutral disc, it holds any line that it is put on very well. Although the outer rim grips the ground very well, I've never had any problems with grip locks.

Overall, this disc is an essential one in my bag. It enables me to land the disc on hazardous greens with confidence, and it allows me to attempt putts that I wouldn't be able to otherwise. I highly recommend this disc because it fills a very valuable spot in my bag.

This was the first putting disc I purchased. I used it for about a year and a half before I tried some other discs for putting and determined that the nova isn't great as a putter.

I kept this disc in my bag and break it out for tight straight low shots 50 to 150ft. This disc will fly dead straight with a smooth slight hazier release. If you put a little more power on this disc it will flip up and turn.

I give it a three due to concerns over fragility.  I don't risk throwing this where trees are a major factor. It has survived a few impacts and my disc is about 3 years old now.

    Other Pros:

Good Grip and holds anyzer lines well.

Great putter. If you want a stable putter with less fade (compared to Aviars), then the Nova will suffice.

You enjoyment does vary on how you feel about Innova's rivet techniques on their recent molds. I'm not bothered by it.

On drives with it, it does fly decent. Secondly, it is great as an approach disc. But, I just used it as a putter/approach. Durability was good, but only since I didn't drive with it often on course and avoided dinging trees with it.

I didn't put enough weight on the reviews that said their Novas cracked after hitting trees. My Nova lasted about 4 rounds - it got its first crack during the first round, another crack in round three, and a crack that rendered it unusable this morning. If you play in the West with few or no trees, or are looking for a putting (vs driving) putter, maybe give this a shot.  If you play in the woods, skip the Nova unless money is no object and you plan on buying dozens of them.

This disc is unique and pretty cool. I was given a somewhat used one by a friend, and it's different than anything else in my bag. The overmold is the defining feature, which is either aesthetically appealing to you or not. I'm usually pretty positive about the discs I review, so I'll be clear about the pros and cons on this one since I do think there are drawbacks:

    Pros:
    -Straight flying
    -Very controllable
-Awesome off the tee, can handle decent torque
-Dependable for low-wind push & spin putts

    Cons:
-Might have some fragility problems - the overmold can crack if you plan on using it as a driving putter. Different plastics might matter.
-This is the most nitpicky I can possibly be, but those little rivets for the overmold are slightly irritating.

    Depends on the user:
-Handfeel - this is a deep, domey disc.
-Seems pretty glidey, maybe even slightly more than advertised

    Pretty cool disc overall.

I use this as my go-to putter (175g). They have great grip, and a nice straight glide. It also works well for approaching with a nice overstable fade. They feel great in my hand and easily wash if they get dirty. Highly recommend.

I'm torn on this disc.  It flies great, and I want to love it.  It's a wonderful approach disc, doesn't tend to roll away, and it sticks pretty good to the ground.  It flies perfectly straight with no fade at all and will even slowly hold a right turn for its whole flight if you give it some.  Great high anny line and flattens out so it doesn't cut roll.  However, one good, direct tree hit, and it's broken.  It might find a place in my bag, but for now, I'm pretty happy with my big bead aviars.

The best approach and driving putter in my bag. I'm a very inconsistent player and this is the only disc I can throw consistently. If you put a little anhyzer on it and give it some air it flies completely straight. Awful to putt with but that's not what it's for. I would recommend this as a required disc to have in your bag at all times.

The Nova. A staple in Innova players bags as an approach disc. This disc is so straight in flight it is wild. That makes it really workable in all types of situations, from straight shots to hyzerflips and turnovers.

The disc is deeper than some other putters and that might not fit perfectly in your hand, but due to how good this disc is everyone should buy one or at least feel one and see.

The Nova is a super underrated putting putter as well. Again the fit in your hand might not allow it to work, but it is so straight and true on any putting line you should give it a shot. I used it for over a year as my main putter, and while now I just throw it I still could use it come tournament time as my main putter.

Everyone should at least give the Nova a try!

The Nova is markedly deeper than most other Innova putters and turns many disc golfers away for this reason, myself included. Of course, many players enjoy or are indifferent to this exaggerated rim depth, so it's impossible to say whether or not it will work for you. The Nova's over-mold is grippy both in your hand and on the green, as this putter tends to sit quickly with minimal ground play. The rim has a firm, tacky feel, and the flight plate is fairly stiff and noticeably slicker. I have heard several remarks that the Nova feels "cheap" or like a recreational Frisbee; I wouldn't disagree when comparing this disc to other golf discs. As for the durability of the plastic, I would advise you to avoid this putter if shopping on a budget. I have owned many Novas for the single reason that they keep cracking! The cracks appear after hard tree hits right along the meeting point between the flight plate and over-mold. Often times, the disc will still be useable, but the small, barely noticeable crack will ruin my confidence in that particular disc.

In my opinion, this disc belongs in anyone's bag who enjoys the feel and doesn't mind the Nova's idiosyncrasies. Why? This is quite possibly the straightest flying putter ever designed. The stability of the Nova is amazing for a disc with so little low speed fade, and it can hold just about any angle you throw it on. I will say, however, that it has nowhere near the glide of other putters with the same glide rating. It's tough to get it to go far without good form and power. Speaking of which, beginners are not likely to enjoy throwing this disc, though it makes a great first putting putter for its straight shooting nature. The Nova truly demands good, smooth form to go straight, so don't expect to be hitting lines like Paul Mcbeth immediately.

If you're a beginner and want to have a throwing putter today, opt for something overstable. If you're a beginner willing to take the time to master the art of throwing putters and diminish your off axis torque, grab a Nova. As long as you know what to look for, this disc will tell you what was wrong with your form right out of your hand. For this reason, I do fieldwork with Novas whenever I'm feeling "off" and credit them as the discs that taught me how to throw putters well. That being said, the deepness of the Nova's rim results in an errant release occasionally, so I wouldn't bag Novas in a tournament.

This disc is so,super, incredibly, extraordinarily straight. This is the most unique disc golf disc of all time(In my opinion). I can release this disc with a hyzer angle, and it goes straight. How? The answer is..............I don't know, magic, maybe,I'm clueless. Anyhoo,I can also release this freaking disc with anhyzers, and it literally anhyzers like 2 feet. It's so weird, but awesome. This XT mix plastic feels good. It is a pretty stiff,grippy-ish type plastic. Um,this disc is probably the best disc for beginners, here's why. Well it teaches you your angle release point. I don't mean that if you throw it perfectly flat it will go straight, and if you throw it with so little hyzer angle, that you can't even tell,it will dump hyzer. What I really mean is:No matter what angle you release it on,it's gonna go straight, and you might think seriously, how does a disc only going straight no matter what angle you release it on,it's going to go straight. Well,I mean that yes,it does always go straight, but if you accidentally release it on hyzer, or anhyzers,it will still hold straight, but it will stay on the angle you throw it on,you'll be able to see the angle of release, without the XT mix nova drifting left,or right. Unique,I know right. Get an Innova Disc Golf XT Mix Nova. You'll certainly love it. I know I do. Thank you for reading this review.

I came to disc golf from playing ultimate. Because of this the NOVA was my long time go to putter. It just felt right. Even though I recently retired it as my main putter, this is still my go to short range approach disc. This disc grabs everything it touches and has a quick stall after hitting the ground (even on hills).

This is also my short range scramble disc. It gets me out of almost every issue a come across.

The only thing I would not recommend this is for windy days. That is the only time it stays in my bag.

Solid putt and approach disc, and as all the pros who use it say, "it points out the flaws in your form." I got this disc to fill my dead straight approach shot, and I think it does that job pretty well (if not maybe just with a tad more fade than it's given credit for). The problems really only arise if you play wooded courses. This disc has a clear structurally weak point where the pro plastic meets the XT grip on the front side. This disc will not take any hard tree hits, so if you play wooded courses then this just isn't the right disc. For wide open approaches with no elevated obstacles, you can rely on this to get out what you put into it. Its an Aviar, so the grip is most likely familiar. It felt a bit deeper than the regular Aviars, but then again it's not a forehand disc so it really doesn't make too much of a difference.

All around, this disc is excellent for perfecting your backhand form at a slower speed, and it sticks where it hits (unless its a tree, in which case it BREAKS). Innova could have made some improvements to the design to make it more durable for woods golf, but there are definitely other discs out there to fill the woods shot. If you are looking for something that you can use in the field and on the course, give this one a try.

This is my favorite putting putter. It's not the best approach putter, but inside 30 ft there is nothing I'd rather throw. The compass nubs and duel plastic make for a fairly unique grip that can't be beat.

For some reason I have a hard time getting a consistent release on this disc but it's helped my putting a lot. I use it mostly for longer putts around 30 feet or more. It flies super straight and if I don't get it in the basket then it's usually within 5 feet. It can take some getting used to but I can't play a round without it now. It has good grip and a super straight flight. If you're curious about this disc then get it. It's well worth it!

    Plastic: XT Mix F2

    Weight: 172g

Feel: This disc is very firm due to hard-plastic centre, and also very grippy in all conditions, at least on the soft, XT outer rim.  This is a deep putter, and this shows in its handling in the wind.  I haven't had any issue with the  'nubs' or 'compass points' underneath, where the overmold meets the flight plate, interfering with my throws.  When I use this disc for spin putting or touch FH shots I actually like the nubs to use as pivot points between my finger and disc.

Flight: While the Nova can absolutely be used as a putter, approaching is where this disc shines.  The reason I only half recommend putting with it is that I have found success in longer distance putts, but this disc is not very reliable into a head/crosswind.  But this disc, if thrown with the right amount of hyzer, will travel in a straight line and never deviate.  For driving, the Nova is excellent at hyzer flipping-to-turnover-to-soft fade back kind of shots that I could use for ~180ft where I have some room to work with and not too much head/crosswind.

Conclusion: The Nova is truly point-and-shoot, you can't go wrong with a disc this consistent, but I do not trust this disc into moderate->high wind.

Sidenote: The main issue with the Nova is that it likes to get picked up and thrown around in the wind, especially while putting.  But it really likes to grab onto the ground when it hits, which can be a real saviour on downhill approaches or baskets close to cliffs.

I love my Nova because, like everyone else has said, it is an incredibly straight flying disc. You can put it on any line that you can think of: an arching hyzer, straight, or following an anhyzer line right.  It can feel a little awkward in the hand if you are used to flatter putters, but for me short courses can be played entirely with a Nova. Great to practice with consistently hitting lines and release angles as the disc itself has a very predictable flight path. Definitely recommend bagging a Nova for straight gaps, and middling distance approach shots.

This disc is very straight. No actually extremely straight. No actually DEAD STRAIGHT. This putter is so good at approaching from 160 ft and in (Emphasis on the in; it is not the furthest flying putter.) It is the ultimate approach disc. It will fly dead straight or hold any line from start to finish. I feel it's best attribute however is in its ground play. The disc stops ON A DIME every time. Especially in the XT plastic. There are only a few warnings I would give someone: It is a very glidey putter (which is a good thing and one of my favorite aspects of it) so probably not ideal in a windy situation when far from the basket. I would also warn that it is not the most comfortable putter; it is a sort of art form to learn how to throw it I've found. It will show you all of the mistakes in your throwing form. It may feel a little weird at first, but it really has become the best disc in my bag. It shaved strokes of my game.

Dead straight. With smooth clean form this disc should easily fly about 200 feet dead straight. This is a disc that is a great form teacher for a beginner because you'll know immediately if any part of your release, pull, etc was off. Too much power and it might turnover, but mixed with correct amount of hyzer and this will flatten out and glide like it's riding a nimbus cloud. I feel it's an overlooked disc or at least some people might not give it a try because of the overmold design, but this really is a great disc for all levels of play and worth trying.

The Nova is pretty much an innova Aviar with a soft plastig (almost rubber) overmold on the rim. This disc is pretty awesome.

I really enjoy Aviars and several of their variants. I currently have a DX Aviar that that is my main putter, and has been so broken down it has almost become a gummy-soft plastic. I was looking to replace it with another DX Aviar, but didn't want to put in the time to beat it in like my old one so it just grabs chains. I decided to try out the Nova and see how it works with the rubber overmold. So far I like it a bit, but there are issues.

I think the center would be better in a Champion plastic to give it more give than the XT plastic has. The center of the disc is VERY firm, which is good for maintaining a similar flight every time, but bad when it hits things and you hear a louder than normal "boink" as it flies off with extreme force. I think this mold with a softer Champion core would be awesome.

Other than the above, I really like this disc. It has an almost identical feel to the deep-dish Aviars, so if you like Aviars, this is not much of a shift. It's reliable, and the disc flies arrow straight every time I throw it.

This is easily my favorite disc in my bag to the point where I feel a connection to it.

I almost never putt with this disc and only use it for approach shots from 50-150 feet away and occasionally I will tee off with it if the line looks right. But WOW does this disc follow whatever line I put it on.

It took me some practice and getting used to, but as someone who has never really liked most midrange discs for approaching this disc really helped my score a lot, and made me much better at approaching.

Putting it on a slight hyzer will cause it to flip up so nicely and just follow the slightest turn and I have become super consistent with laying it up when I use this disc. It does take practice to become good at throwing this disc though, as a bad shot will be super consequential because of how accurately the disc follows your line.

I highly reccommend everyone put this disc in their bag!

I really like the Nova for warming up and practicing. It goes absolutely dead straight when thrown directly. It doesn't really glide much so you can't get much distance with it, but for approach shots it works well.

My only problem with this disc is that it's super touchy. Any flaw on the throw gets magnified and the throw will end up poorly. While this is annoying, I do find it super useful when working on form and practicing.

If I'm having a rough round I won't use this disc because I won't have any confidence with it, but during a good day it's perfect because it does whatever I want within probably 220.

For beginners, if they are serious about getting good at disc golf this is a perfect disc to get solid form. If they are just wanting to play casually, they'll hate throwing this disc.

In my opinion, the Nova is the best single disc golf disc available.

For beginners, it will be a good identifier of poor form. It's NOT an easy disc to throw, but counter-intuitively it is good for beginners because of that fact. I know throwing it helped my form in the long run.

For those with quality form, I don't know that there is one disc that could shave more strokes off of your game. Not only does it reliably fly whatever line you put it on, but it stops dead in its tracks where it hits. It's unlike any other disc I've thrown.

It can take LOTS of power. I can easily throw this dead straight from 300-350 feet thanks to the glide. Like any putter, it requires height to achieve that distance, but the Nova really shines for pretty much any shot under 300 feet.

As a RHBH player with a very wimpy forehand, this is my GO-TO disc for pretty much any  shot that needs to finish right. It's amazing for spike anhyzers over tall obstacles too. It comes down at exactly the angle you put it on.

If you can't throw the Nova, I would recommend learning how.

This disc has a ton of glide and really makes you rely on good form. The thing flies dead straight. It will hold the lines you put on it. I sometimes forget how little fade it has at the end and wont fight out of the anhyzer if i try to throw an approach from 100ft or more. I use it primarily for those approach shots that are wide open but need to stick hard to the ground fast. The overmould is perfect for that.

I am using an XT Nova (175g). I have been playing for only a few months now and this is the first putter I have added to my bag outside of the aviar I got in the starter pack. It took a bit of getting used to, as it is a large weight difference,  but I have really found my form with this disc and it is now my go-to for semi-close approach shots. It is super stable and follows a consistently straight line. Been hitting a lot more putts with this disc too, love it.

XT Nova (175g) - As others have said, this is a weird disc, but very versatile. It is my primary putter and I use it for short approach shots under 80ft. I used to throw it a little more, but I apparently don't have the angle control of Paul McBeth and therefore had mixed results. Now, I prefer a Star Dart for that 100-200ft range since it is a little more forgiving. But the Nova is invaluable as a putter; it is stiff, which I like, grippy, and stops on a dime when it lands near the basket. No weird roll-aways, no bounces. I definitely recommend trying one.

This is one STRAIGHT flying disc. I threw a friends years ago for a bit to check it out. I really didn't care for the feel of the disc however,. Little deeper then I prefer and the points of attachment are kind of weird. So despite the amazing flight and what I have seen players do with it, I can't give it 5 stars.

This is the first disc I've had to retire due to wear, and I've only thrown it three times.

Shot #1: Off the tee into a pile of leaves. Disc remains intact. Phew.
Shot #2: Approach shot catches a tree. The inner mold is now tucked underneath the overmolded rim due to the seam between the two tearing. Cool.
Shot #3: Hyzer approach to the basket. The side of the disc that impacts the ground tears in the same way on the opposite side of the disc. Double cool.

I'm left wondering if all the praise this disc was just a well choreographed DG community inside joke. Did I get memed out of 13 dollars, or is Innova really this embarrassing?

This thing flies dead straight when thrown correctly. When I first started using it, it was rather frustrating because it showed all the flaws in my form. After practicing with it in the field, my putter distance went form ~180 ft to ~240 ft. It is a great straight approach disc as the xt plastic stops dead in its tracks. It can glide for days and can also be used for a turnover or hyzerflip shot. I also putted with it for a while and the glide really enables you to make some longer putts. They are super durable as well. I have 4 now and use them for approach or straight drives <200 ft or if I need to lay up with OB behind the basket. The plastic feels great in the hand and is great for any conditions.

There is simply no other disc that flies like a Nova. Out of the box, it is super straight. There is not gap that this disc can't pure, and no angle this disc can't work. This disc actually holds any angle you throw it on. It's so predictable that you know you yourself have made a mistake while throwing it. It's grippy rim and lack of glide make this the ultimate point and shoot disc. However, if you are a beginner, this disc will probably end up fluttering out of the sky for you every time. This disc is not torque resistant at all. It requires a ton of finesse to throw it with not only the right angle, but the right power and with a smooth release. The Nova will expose any flaw in your backhand form. But if you can harness its power, it is the ultimate backhand approach disc.

I had never thrown one of these before recently, and I have to say the buzz about them in the last few years has merit. They have an easy grip, decent glide, not much turn and very little fade.

The feel is a little deep for my liking, but any fan of a little deeper beadless putter would likely enjoy it a lot. The gummier outer plastic feels grippy in the hand and the XT core is fairly nice feeling as well, though you never really feel it unless you are in a wide fan grip.

Flight is slower and floaty, but they can hold a straight line from a hyzerfip really well, and you can do gentle turnovers with ease also.

Would feel just fine giving one of these to a new player. They would probbaly develop good form very quickly.

I bought the nova (175g) because I was in search of a sticky, straight flying approach putter and people rave about this disc's ability to hold it's release angle. I'm by no means a big thrower (350'ish), but I found myself having to throw the nova on a very steep hyzer for the straight flight I was looking for from around 150', and it was still very touchy. The deeper rim also caused a bit of a OAR for me. I definitely see where it could be useful for someone learning BH and it was very sticky, but just too easy to overpower, IMO. If anyone else has the same issues, I'd recommend the classic blend judge (if you like beadless, go warden), as the tiny bit of extra stability makes for a more predictable flip.

This is the quintessential throwing putter for dead-straight shots. A Nova will hold exactly the line you want for the entire flight, and will not flip over on you even when powered up on. When it hits the ground, it will sit down immediately, and is therefore excellent for touchy approach shots into a sloped greens or greens with nearby OB.

A very good disc for straight and anhyzer upshots that you just want to get up and down. I don't bag this disc because I don't like how the rim feels in the hand, but I still use it in the field to practice release angles and to work on my form. This disc is great for beginners that need to learn good form and angles because of its straight flying nature. Those who like this disc and learn it well throw great upshots. Watch Paul McBeth throw it the past few years and you will understand.

This disc flies straight. Super straight. It's a perfect approach disc as it will hold the line you put it on and fall flat and stick where it lands.

I don't love the feel as it's a bit domey, but boy is this disc fun to throw. It just goes where you put it, with almost no lateral movement.

Great for working on your form as it flies just how you release it. Definitely recommend for a beginner for this reason

The is the most beginner friendly disc I have ever thrown. Whatever angle the disc is released on it will remain on it. If you are wanting to check your form for backhand throws this disc is great. It will hold an Anhyzer or Hyzer line to the ground. The Nova when thrown flat will land flat and stick to the ground without issue. The rubber rim makes for a great grip and comfortable feel. The rim has a similar feel to an aviar but slighty deeper. I highly recommend this disc to anyone, whether you plan to bag it or not hit is great for catch, fieldwork, and form checking.

At first I HATED this disc! I played a one disc round with it and quit by the 6th hole. I told a friend by experience and he gave me the hard to swallow truth. My technique was the problem. This disc was exposing my flaws. Flaws in my posture, release, foot work, etc. The Nova is a true to form thrower. Much like the Mako/Mako3, how you throw it is how its going to fly. That being said after a few months of play with the Nova and the Mako3 my game improved significantly. Do yourself and buy/bag one of each.

You've seen McBeth throw it so you know how accurate and trustworthy it can be. I bought it for the same to teach me that effortless, finesse upshot. It's not my favorite rim, but honestly, I'm forcing myself to use it a bit just to keep my form up because when you throw this thing good, it flies phenomenal! Putting wise, will never use it. Don't like the feel in hand and seems to slip. This thing shines for approaches and can work about any shot inside 200.

I had an empty spot in my bag after Vibram went out of business. I was in love with the Summit. Although inconsistent, a good summit had -1 1 stability. A particular pair I had were neutral as all get out. Nailed some trees and ended up with a couple understable light toss putters better used as plates. Went to the store and heard the news.

Several months later and lots of product testing, I finally picked up a Nova from a local shop new recommended by the salesman (sorry infinite).

The Nova is clearly a great answer to my lack of summits. Immediately felt like my best Vibram in terms of flight path. A shorter mako3 in a way. Weirdly enough I use it for longer approaches, tunnels, and tailwind putting in the circle. I use the mako3 for long putts more often! This disc has taken up the dead space in my bag very well. Next to my wizards that replaced my Vibram Soles, these putters are spot on. Good one Innova.

It has an overmold and limited plastic types. I do like the XT mix though. Would like to see a Champion some day, since I rarely lose putters, it would be nice to have a more permanent plastic.

This disc feels like a really deep Aviar. The roundness of the rim combined with flat top make for a comfortable disc. It can be power or fan gripped, but I think it accels with a fan grip. If you like to power grip, be warned that the over mold nobbies may interfere. If released flat, it will hover to the ground from any height regardless of nose angle. Great disc to learn nose-up approach shots.

This disc is really prone to warping due to tree and basket hits. I like the Nova a ton, but I don't think I'll be getting another as the classic Aviar flies similarly, is significantly shallower, holds up better in the woods, and is almost half the price.

This disc will help all players get out of a throwing slump, guaranteed. Where do I begin to describe the greatness of this disc? The overmold technology is incredibly grippy and does not skip or roll. It sticks where it lands. As for throwing, this disc goes where you put it and doesn't leave. Your throwing angles are made so obvious that you can't argue with them. The angle that you put on this disc can be seen in how glidey the disc seems. Honestly this is the best approach disc and one to bring about a great change in everybody's game

There is a lot of hype behind this disc and I did my best to give it a fair shot without adding any expectation.

At slower speeds, this disc is somewhat stable with some fade at the end. Once it speeds up, it is almost laser straight. Then grippy rim is awesome for putting on the breaks on packed dirt greens or really fast greens and fairways. It can really hold a line at higher speeds as well. That said, it is very touchy and not very forgiving when it comes to angle of release. Just a touch of hyzer and it won't stand up hardly at all (mine is still fairly new and this may change over time). A touch of Anhyzer and it will carry right or worm burn.

I like this disc for the ultimate dead staright tunnel shots. I release it quite a bit higher than other discs with a lot of snap and it travels far (300ish) and finishes straight with almost no fade. I like how quickly it stops once it hits the ground.

The Nova is such a straight flier. At slower speeds it can seem to have just a touch of fade, but at higher speeds, it holds true. It can also hold a hyzer or Anhyzer line quite well. I feel this disc is great for learning the hardest shot in disc golf, the dead straight shot. Beginners will learn about form and off axis torque when .throwing this disc. Advanced and pro level players will real the reward of minimal fade and a screeching halt on the greens due to the over mold. If you have never tried one, give it a shot.

This disc is amazing. I really don't like throwing it. Yep, that's right!

This disc flies as straight as a disc can fly. It's great for learning proper form. If this disc wobbles when you throw it, you know that you need to fix your form to improve. If you crank too hard on this disc without adding the spin it needs it's just gonna turn straight into the ground. This makes it the ultimate form-practice disc.

I don't really like the way this disc feels in the hand. It's to deep for me, as I prefer the more shallow rim. The XT overmolds have 4x bumps that can play tricks on you if your mind-game isn't on point (they don't affect the grip/shot itself).

If you get used to the disc and learn how to throw it, it's going to change your straight shot game. the eXtra Traction makes sure it stops where it lands. Or you can be like me and get it for practice as it will tell you when your form/release is off.

I originally got this disc because I wanted a straight shot layup disc and heard that the 4 time world champ MacBeth was utilizing it. To be clear, just because a famous disc golf player uses a disc does not mean I will continue to use it if it doesn't work well for me. And on that note, here we go with why I have two novas in my bag.

    1) It throws incredibly straight. Like a phantom or hovering wraith, it seems to glide to my target with nice consistent accuracy.

    2) It lands like a flying saucer, stopping on most grass situations after about a bounce or two and scooting a little bit, but mostly on hard pan terrains. The resistance of the plastics keep it from sliding too much or skipping away adversely.

    3) It absorbs the shock of hitting surfaces such as tree trunks or large boulders with a slight "twang" and simply bounces down to the ground where it most often stays in place. This alone makes it awesome to me. It might still take a bad kick off a side of the fairway tree, but I have never been majorly punished by it in comparison to a distance driver or a midrange.

    4) In a year of using this disc as my go-to, I cannot think of any memorable roll after landing. It seems to curl quick or topple over.

The only con I can think of is the overmold joiners on the inside under the flight plate just at the edges. I sure wish they could have more flatly integrated those tiny little knobs. Each flat connector is placed upon a quadrant opening up a quadrant space big enough for anyone's hand - yes, even Andre The Giant's hand. So, if you are power-gripping, then as long as you hold it inside one of these 4 quadrants you are gold. They are not even there anymore at that point. For fan grips, you don't even notice they are there because the fingers don't ever touch them.

All in all, I love this disc as the single best straightfire layup where you want to get some distance without sweating the creek or other hazard near by.

I've been using the Nova for my main driving and approach putter since I started playing.  The flight is very dependent on the release angle, throw it on hyzer it holds that line, throw it flat it goes straight, very slight drift to the right, throw it on anhyzer it holds that line as well.  I'll putt sometimes with the Nova, but only when I have a putt where there is a steep elevation change or rough terrain where my McPro aviars will slide or stand up and roll.  I like the Nova's tendency to sit where it hits the ground.   The only issue that I have with the Nova, is after a few tree hits a white line starts to appear on the underside of the flight plate where the rim meets it and then about a month after that happens the disc breaks.

If McBeth wasn't so perfect with this disc, I highly doubt it would be as popular as it is.  I would say you will love or hate the feel of it. I'm somewhat neutral with the feel but the materials are odd, creating an odd grip in the hand.  Also you have to position it just right in your hand or you feel where the overplate connects to the top of the disc.  Very much a niche disc IMO.

This disc is one of my all time favorites. i have made putts with this thing that i didnt even mean to. sometimes it feels like there is a magnet in this thing because if i put it on any kind of line near the pin, chances are its going in. I love how straight it flies and how hard it sticks. one thing about this disc that i struggled with initially was that because it sticks where it hits so well when using it for tunneling upshots its imperative to not hit anything because the nova will SLAM on the brakes. With that in mind, you should have bought one yesterday. keep this thing in your bag and throw it within reason. also if you complain about the little nubs on the inside of the disc then chances are your just being a crybaby there is so much other area to hold that they never effect my release.

Played my first round with this disc today after about 30 minutes of practice the previous day. This is now my go to approach disc for anything within 150 feet. Holds a ridiculously straight line with very minimal fade at the end. Coming from the world of ultimate frisbee I was already familiar with throwing a disc and that's what the Nova reminds me of. Point and shoot at the basket. I got very little skip or roll which left me several easy putts on today's round. I would definitely recommend this to any beginner for a first disc and it will probably be my choice for any one disc rounds in the future.

This disc is my go to for lay-ups and baskets on inclines. The overmold disc styling is truly the hit-and-sit design. It does hold lines well but it doesn't fade so much as tap the air brakes and flattens out, but it's a good thing. It adds more to the hit-and-sit magic of the disc. Even if you land it on it's rim it doesn't want to roll. There's an audible "thunk" it makes on rim impacts, and even off of trees it doesn't bounce hard. However, I have concerns about durability but I will pass judgment on that once I've had it longer. Also.. I tried to drive this disc.. maybe it's just me but I have no luck driving it off the tee.

Widely regarded as one of the best approach discs out there. The Nova flies dead straight and will hold basically any line you put it on with minimal fade. The Nova grips and sits down like no other disc. I've been throwing them for 2 years and have had one roll away. The way the weight is distributed makes rolling almost impossible for the disc, it just falls over immediately. The disc does what it is supposed to do maybe better than any disc.

I have two issues with the Nova. It is super deep and uncomfortable forehand and back hand. It also has no durability and breaks very easily. The plastic where the over mold meets the under mold is very thin and a few trees in the same spot will crack the disc. I'm currently on my fourth nova due to breaking and warping.

The definition of point and shoot.  This disc is the first disc I would recommend to anyone new to the game to learn how to throw a golf disc correctly.  This disc goes where you throw it, so it will show you exactly whats happening in your form.  I don't find the double mold (or whatever Innova calls it) to be intrusive at all, but I do have a few friends who aren't fans of the stud-type joints on the bottom, preferring a seamless one like Axiom/MVP or Lat64 2K discs.  This putter is deeper than most, so it may take a few throws to feel natural in the hand, depending on your grip, but this disc has never let me down!

This is the best approach disc on the market. It flies dead straight unless you release it on an angle which is still very forgiving. The plastic feels great and with the cooptions it can be really cool looking. It fights the wind decently well for such a straight disc. I throw it on nearly every hole and it still very durable. If you are looking for a straight disc, am approach disc, or a utility disc, the xt nova is a must.

This is probably the straightest flying disc I have ever thrown. The Nova is super slow, really grippy, and has a deep rim. It can be a bit hard to grip for me because it is so deep and sticky. These things are surprisingly slow to beat in and can help you perfect your form. Would recommend.

Decided to purchase this putter just from watching the pros like Mcbeth and Koling throw these and for a beginner like me (5 weeks) this thing is deadly in the woods. . .my local course has 4 holes in a row with narrow tunnel shots and what seems like a 1000 trees in my way but i can typically put this within the circle every time. . .straight, hyzer or anhyzer doesnt matter, it goes exactly where i want it!

This disc works best as an approach disc. The rubber rim makes the disc stickier, meaning rather than skidding around like a hydroplaning car and putting you in a less than ideal putting scenario, the nova drops to the ground and sits with a satisfying 'plonk' noise. I use the nova a lot for dangerous approaches. Highly recommend if you're in the market for a good approach disc.

I bought a pair of 175g XT Novas during the black Friday special where Infinite ran the black on black color ways and the white on white.  These discs always have my buddies jealous simply by how appealing they are to the eye in the bag and during the flight.  I use them for tricky upshots that need to really sit down where they land.  Sloped greens and elevated baskets are two key areas where I reach for my Nova.

Very versatile disc and they are also great for fieldwork.  The disc flies true to the numbers and it will show imperfections in your form if you are struggling to find a rhythm.  This disc is a great disc to learn with because of that fact.  If you can master this disc you will have a variety of shots that a lot of disc golfers struggle to find a disc for.

I love my 175g Novas. I now have 6 of them, and they are my putter of choice. I personally like the flight of the Nova more than the Aviar, Rhyno, or MVP Anode. It's a beautifully neutral disc, with just enough fade to still be useful for lay-ups.

Not a good putting putter, but one of the best approach discs that I have ever used.

I don't ever putt with the Nova and I will rarely ever throw it off the tee.  The Nova comes out of my bag when I am just out of a comfortable jump putting range.  I don't usually carry a disc that I only use for one throw but the Nova is an exception.  If I am trying to throw is from 50-100 this is the only disc I will go too.  The glide on it is underrated and it goes so extremely straight that it is insane.  A legitimate point and shoot disc.  Love it.  May not get used as much as my Harp or P2s.  But it has it's role and will stay in my bag.

Great approach disc. I have used a XT-Nova since I began playing disc golf. The Nova will always have a place in my bag. The rubber makes it so that it sticks to the ground and the firm flight plate makes it easy to get a consistent release. Great for tunnel shots especially because it is so durable if you happen to hit a tree.

I really like the Nova. I bought one to really fix my form and I'm not completely sold that its great at doing that, but I've really really enjoyed throwing it. It has some quirks like the odd rim and the little ribs underneath, but I've forgotten about them because the Nova is really good at doing one thing: going dead straight for 50-150 feet, and then hitting the ground and stopping within 15 feet of where it landed. I rarely throw it off the tee because I can't get huge distance out of it without turning it over (this is where it helps iron out form I guess), but I've gotten really good at throwing it through tight gaps and landing perfectly under the basket. Today I ended up on the side of the fairway behind a bunch of trees, 125' to go to the basket with a 4 foot gap to hit, and took out my Nova and threw it dead straight and hit the bottom of the pole. It's absolutely superb at doing this and I use it a few times every round. Really love this disc

Ask yourself if McBeth didn't throw this would you want it?  I'm convinced it's the only reason it sells so many Novas.  The outer rim feels really off.  The putter is ok, it is that straight/neutral disc that will hold any line you throw it on.  I just can't get over the rim.  I wanted to be a fanboy and like it but I just couldn't get over the rim.  It just fills up my hand too much, I like a thinner profile putter.

This is one of my favorite approach/death putt putters. If it lands level, you can count on it stopping immediately. I use it on approach shots anywhere from 50-150 feet out and it's great. If you overpower it, it does have a tendency to be a bit understable and flippy, but is easily corrected with a slight amount of hyzer. I would recommend this putter to absolutely anybody looking for a trustworthy approach/putter that they can count on to stop as soon as it hits the ground.

This disc is one of the best driving/approach putters I have thrown.  I throw putters very frequently and like to use this for straight to turnover shots out to about 250 feet depending on the hole.  I'm amazed at how straight the Nova finishes.  It is great for tricky approaches that you need to hit and stick.  The deeper feel took some getting used to, but it was well worth it.

The Nova is also a great disc for beginners to learn proper form.  It is not entirely beginner friendly, since it shows form flaws like OAT.  However, I think beginners can progress quickly by learning to throw it.

ah the nova. I ordered a 172 nova online because I was hearing good things about it. so i was thinking when I got out to the field to try it out i could sling it like my other putters buuuut no not the case. where you release that disc that's where it's going. If you want to see how good or bad your form is practice with this disc. I have mine pretty dialed in I feel comfortable from 150 feet out landing it next to the basket anything shorter I just use my main putter. I will use it on hill shots too because it sticks to the ground.

It is very forgiving and very straight, it will hold and line you put it on. The only problem i would see players having is the little nubs inside the rim but if you can get passed that you're going to love this disc.

What I'm throwing: 175g XT Glow - RHBH approach disc. Driving putter.

For many of the same reasons listed by other reviewers, this is by no means an easy disc to throw. However, what the Nova will teach you about your throw is invaluable and nothing flies or falls quite like it.

The rim takes some getting used to. You may even consider a grip change to accommodate what feels like a deeper rim than at least I'm used to. Also, I've fudged a throw for leaving a finger pad on one of the four indentations that help secure the outer mold to the flight plate. This just takes some paying attention to, not a deal breaker.

There is virtually no action on this disc. The angle you throw the Nova on, is the angle it takes to the ground. Inconsistent releases for backhand throws yield inconsistent results. Full stop.

The Nova will not mask a slight deviation in angle or release point like a high-speed driver will, which is why I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. That is, however,  exactly what makes it a great learning tool for those looking to improve their backhand.

Expect to be unsatisfied with the first throws you are going to achieve with this disc. Expect it to be 'touchy' and "on some days, off other days". Expect it to burn you when you use it out on the course on hole 5, then park itself under the basket on 12. Expect it to be exactly as inconsistent as you are. Don't fear the beast. Tame it.

Easily my favorite disc. A point and shoot type disc. If I'm going to play a one disc round, I'm going to be using one of my XT Nova's.

If you want to improve your form, learn to throw an XT Nova. It's very touchy on angle of release. It won't fight out of how you throw it. Release it on a hyzer it's going to stay at that angle....release it on an anny and it's going to stay on that line. Release it flat and it will go dead straight.

Great to throw off the tee or as an upshot disc, my goto disc for many upshots.

Not my favorite, but not a terrible disc either. It has a really deep rim. I read that in other reviews and thought it would be fine, but it just doesn't feel comfortable trying to grip. I think that is partly responsible for more glide than I would like in a disc like this. There are just other discs in my bag that I prefer, like the Vibram Ridge. All in all, I think if you like the idea of overmold technology, MVP/Axiom is a better bet.

Very straight flying putter. I've never known anyone to actually putt with these, as I would imagine they may have a tendency to "bounce" quite a bit with that rubbery overmold. That being said, I think that these are really great upshot putters. They grip the ground really well, and fly very true to the flight ratings. For me, it took some time to get used to the very deep rim, it eventually got dropped from the bag for that reason actually. But I can definitely see why people like this disc. Plus, Paul McBeth throws it, so it's got to be good, right?!

NOVA bombs!  My favorite putter for drives and approaches.  The NOVA simply hits lines others can't.  300' dead straight with no turn and no fade?  No problem.  Plus it sticks where it hits.  Perhaps the best training disc in all of disc golf.  It demands good clean form or it'll turn and burn.  When I have an off day or my form isn't feeling right I hit the field with my novas and I'm back!  It may take some getting used to.  The rim is DEEP.  The grip is a little strange at first as well.  But once you see the lines this disc hits it'll never leave your bag.

I got the XT Nova because of players such as Paul McBeth just absolutely killing it with this thing. Watching the potential of this disc made me want to give it a shot for my straight upshots.

The disc has a lot of potential. However, I never felt like I was getting consistent throws with it. At times the disc was absolutely amazing and flew how I wanted while settling down nicely. The soft outer rim was great for those shots that had me worried about hitting on a downhill and rolling. But there were times when I would release the disc and it would just turn on me and never come back close to where I had wanted it. I didn't feel like I did anything different, it just wanted to do whatever it felt like.

With the inconsistency of the flight and the larger rim depth, I decided to try the Latitude 64 Pure and haven't looked back. Like I said before, the Nova is a great disc and has a ton of potential, it just was not a disc that I could figure out and I decided to go a different rout. If you can figure out how to make it fly, the disc is fantastic and I know you will love it. Just know it may be some work and there may be a better disc out there for you

    XT Nova......where to start.

I almost gave up on this disc when i first got it.  Every time I powered up on it, the disc would flip and never come back.  It took a while before I gave in to the fact that it was me, not the disc that was having an issue.  I committed to throwing my nova on every hole during all of my practice rounds.  The disc is spin sensitive, and you will eventually find its sweet spot.  In learning this disc, it taught me a lot about my form, and has improved my overall throwing technique with a lot of my other discs.

I now can't say enough good things about the Nova.  Especially around me where there are lots of sloped/rocky greens which the overmold works like a dream on.  Pick up a Nova and learn a lot about your technique.  Learn to throw the Nova, and you will throw your whole bag better; I almost guarantee it.

My hands down favorite disc for approach shots. Especially inside 100ft. It took me a while to figure out a good grip that was comfortable for this disc because of how deep the rim is, but once I figured it out this thing is as smooth as butter. It will literally go on any line you put it on. Not recommended for windy days, but on a day with standard conditions if you release this disc flat it will go straight as an arrow. The absolute best thing about this disc for approach shot though is that it never skips. When it hits the ground the deep rim digs in and it stays where it lands. I have noticed the Paul Mcbeth Tour Series Nova is slightly more stable than the standard ones.

One of the straightest flying putters I have ever thrown. I like this disc for upshots, float shots, and any situation that involves a potential death putt or where a skip could be costly.

When it hits, it sticks. I used to have two Novas as my main putters and even though I have switched to other primary putters inside the circle, I will always have a Nova in my bag to ensure my approaches park right where I need them to.

The mixed plastic is not a gimmick. Innova knew what they were doing when they put this disc together and I strongly recommend it to everyone, regardless of skill level.

This disc is great for beginners and advanced players it is super stable for the beginner players with it havng no turn or fade. I like to use this disc as a from the tee putter sometimes. After you use it and it gets beat up it starts to become understable so try not to be aggressive with it and hit trees or put too many dents in it if you want it to stay stable. This disc is good for far put because you dont have to predict the turn or fade much but I wish it was a speed 3 for farther put and faster of the tee drive with it but overall it is a great disc for all players and comes in very cool looking styles.

I picked up a Nova about 2 months ago to replace my Aviar.  I am so glad I did.  If you like to Turbo Putt the Nova is an excellent choice for the job.  The outside rim of the Nova has a rubber feel to it so you have a lot better control than most putters.  I have been playing since last October so as a novice player I highly suggest getting the Nova.  You'll be glad you did.

I was very hesitant to pick up a Nova. I just had reservations about the 2-piece design and reviews that I heard from friends. I finally picked up a friends and gave it a few tosses. For me, it feels like it's a pretty deep putter with a unique rim. It took a bit to get used to, but I started noticing that the Nova has really unique flight characteristics.

If you want to develop good from in throwing, really crank on this thing because it flys exactly how it leaves your hand. If I release nice and straight, it laser beams straight. If I release with hyzer, it holds it, if I release on a slight anhyzer, mine really rides that line. Even when thrown pretty lightly on the anhyzer, it likes to hold the line. It will just barely start to fight back. Again, it's all dependant on how you release it. When thrown straight it doesn't seem to fade hard at all. Mine fades just a tad.

What is unique is that when thrown at lower speeds, of maybe 30% power for me, it will hold any line I want it do. You would expect it to lose these characteristics when you really crank on it, but for me it doesn't at all. I have yet to flip this disc throwing hard.

The rim around the disc really grabs hold of the ground. If you are wanting to throw a disc that will stick to the ground, throw it. I was testing putters on a slight hyzer line on hard packed ground. All of my other putters would skip at least 10-15ft. The Nova always seemed to grab where it landed.

Overall I really like my Nova. It looks awesome, it unique, and will act accordingly to how you throw it.

I bag it every now and then and every time I throw it the disc amazes me. I should throw it more often but I have so many discs it's hard to throw them all. I have a max weight XT Nova I use for approaching from within 150 feet. First thing, let me clear something up about this disc, the only time I've gotten it to fly with 0 turn and 0 fade is when I've thrown it into the ground before it has a chance to fade out. If you leave it up in the air it will start to fade noticeably before it lands. If you come into it with that mindset, you'll like this disc. Based on the numbers, I expected this disc to fly straight all the way to the ground and that isn't the case unless you put it into the ground while it still has decent speed.

Having said all of that, this is a pretty good approach disc. The weight is good for control in the wind. The plastic is grippy and it doesn't bounce too much, it pretty much sticks where it lands. It's definitely a disc you have to get a feel for how much it will fade depending on how high you throw it and how hard you throw it, but once you do I think you'll like how consistent it is.

The Nova is an awesome strait flying disc. Released flat with medium power it will float strait forever, with almost no fade. The Nova will flip up a little bit on harder throws, but it reacts to power better than most discs in its category. I can put a lot of power on this disc and it won't just turn over and crash right (RHBH) like many other discs with similar ratings. Paul McBeth uses the Nova for all types of shots and distances. He even throws it for some holes over 400' and it holds up to that power great (although he may be throwing it on a slight hyzer-flip line).

I got my first Nova around the time I got my first Classic Aviar. Both discs have the same ratings: 2 - 3 - 0 - 0. I found that although I prefered the flight and durability of the Nova, I could throw the DX Classic Aviar more consistently. Unfortunately, as much as I love XT, it is too grippy of a plastic for me to finesse. For more powerful shots it doesn't bother me because it still rips from my hand the same. The DX just provides me with better low speed releases. The trade-off is that DX gets torn up very quickly, beats in, and turns this already understable putt and approach into a VERY understable disc.

So if you like the flight ratings of the Nova, try out both the Classic Aviar and Nova and see which plastic and feel works better for you. I wish the XT worked better for my shorter up-shots, because I think the Nova is a much better, higher quality disc.

The best straight flying DISC I have ever thrown.  Great for short approaches and straight to turn over drives off the tee.  This disc will act on whatever line its thrown on, pure hyzer line throw at medium power will give you a soft true hyzer line,  hyzer flip this disc and watch it fly straight as an arrow for the entire flight path, thrown flat and with some snap and this disc will give you a soft anhyzer line with a sticky landing.  I would say that if you are trying to learn the backhand throw, there is no better disc to teach you proper form than the Nova.  Bottom line is, I can't say enough good things about this disc.

This disc isn't a 'putting" putter in my opinion, as the deep rim makes it tough to grip. However, I have never thrown another disc that stays are straight and true as the Nova. Even when I power it up it resists turning over very nicely, and with a softer throw it has minimal to no fade. Fantasic approach/driving putter

Buyer beware. This disc profile is HUGE. I have medium sized hands, and sometimes this disc comes out straight and flies beautifully...but sometimes i can't keep my grip on it and it flips immediatly on me do to the disc being shaped like a small ultimate disc. If you have giant hands then I would say this is a great buy. It can handle some power and go straight, plus it goes straight with a small amount of power which is an incredible thing...just feels so dang weird in the hand.

This disc is pretty neat. I dont own one but ive used my buddies and it has a really intersting feel to it. I can tell its either one of those love it or hate it kind of things so I can see how its not for everybody. one thing I do know about this disc is it beats in super fast, probably faster than any other disc that innova makes. the rubber like feel to the rim seems like it wont last too long and will change the flight characteristics very drasticly very quickly. i can see that it can be a very very nice placement discs bc it will basicallly stick where it hit the ground. It wont skip and i cant see this disc rolling very far at all. if you hit grass even low cut grass it will stay put. every disc has its ups a downs so i would recomend trying one out and see if it can find a place in ur regular bag. the downfall i see in this disc is that if you love it and use it alot youll be replacing it pretty often which can obviosly get pricey. but get one and try it out.

I highly recommend this disc to anyone trying to improve their game overall or inside of 250'. This disc will do whatever you want when you throw it and Is stable enough to fight some wind and hold true for power throws. If you're struggling with back hand form this is the disc that will teach you to be flawless. I don't see this disc coming out of my bag any time soon.
