The MVP Photon is the first 21.5 cm distance driver in the MVP line. This disc is described as a longer Tesla, and will exhibit some max distance generating high-speed turn for power throwers. The Photon is naturally wind resistant for average players and works well for sidearm throws. This is a thin disc with a sleek, flat profile.

    Plasma Photon (171g)

This disc has just the right amount of beef to fight a headwind and throw some beautiful flex lines. It is a skip monster. A tad bit less turn and more fade than the flight numbers suggest.

I got this disc in part due to the "longer tesla" note in the description. I'm a big fan of the Tesla. I also noticed lots of people recommending the disc to Simon Lizotte after his recent switch to MVP. I'd say it's a bit more stable than the numbers suggest, but I'm liking it for full-power forehands. It's somewhat of a meathook for my backhand but I'm hoping that'll change once it beats in.

My absolute go to for distance FH shots. I don't have a huge forehand. But I have a 171 and 170 Photon in Plasma that is the perfect amount of beef to throw awesome flex forehands with. Reliable. Flat. Newest disc added to my bag and it's definitely staying.

I got this after reading the reviews expecting an overstable forehand disc. I threw a backhand with it and it did not have the "meathook" stability I thought it would. My first few forehand drives were dead strait, on a rope with gentle fade at the end, it wasn't torqued, or a bunch of OAT, just straight. I think it is a good disc and I need to spend some more time with it, but overall I would say flies true to numbers.

The Photon is a great stable distance driver. While not for lower speed arms or newer players, the Photon really begins to shine when thrown by an experienced player with enough arm speed. Flying like a faster, more overstable Tesla, the photon is perfect for power throwers looking for some great, controllable distance.  Though it isn't the furthest flying disc I've ever thrown, the Photon has easily become the distance drier I reach for the most during a round thanks to its ability to handle power and still have a considerable fade at the end of its flight.  Typically, during a tournament round, you'll find anywhere from 3-5 Photons in my bag, ranging from the straighter 150s Plasma Photon to the most overstable 175 Cosmic Neutron Photon.  With these I never have to worry about turning over too much while still being able to hit 375' consistently.

I have this disc in Proton plastic.

The only disc that can rival the overstability of this disc is a Stego.

The only disc that can rival the glide of this disc is a dinner plate.

My three most overstable discs in my bag are a Trespass, a Getaway, and a Verdict. On backhand, I can throw my Verdict about 250, my Getaway 280, and Trespass 300. I don't claim to be a good disc golfer, but I can at least throw overstable discs a respectable distance. This disc I can only throw about 150, and that's because it just hits the ground. The advertised flight numbers on this disc are so incorrect, I seriously considered the idea that they printed the wrong disc name on my disc. I took this disc out in the field and threw forehands on extreme anhyzers just to get it to stay in the air, and the only thing that comes close to how I was able to throw it is when my friend throws his Flick.

My bag is full of Dynamic Discs and Laitude 64 discs, and I plan to keep it this way. I love double mold discs, and I really wanted to try MVP, but this disc is the worst disc I have ever let my hands propel. It does not want to fly. Period.

The MVP Photon is a great distance driver for those looking to move into faster discs after practicing with control drivers. At 12 speed, it's not an amazingly fast disc, but does require some power to achieve long flights.

This is my staple driver right now for when I need something to finish left with a lot of skip. This disc also does great in a headwind. You'll find it getting some nice turn, or 's' shape flight, before it fades out.

I would recommend this disc to an intermediate level player.

I use this disc like i used to use my destroyers, i get very similar lines and just as much distance even though MVP considers this a speed 11. I am able to get this disc out to about 475' with a slow turn phase that really extends the distance without being flippy at all. Its that perfect reliable amount of turn that i couldn't seem to find with any variation of destroyer that i tried, and the photon filled that role for me. I have a plasma right now, but i plan to get another neutron as this one beats in. This is my go to for controlled distance drives every time.

This disc is absolutely incredible. I took a chance on MVP when I lost my Destroyer a few weeks ago and was interested in trying something new. In my opinion, the Photon flies like a nicely beat in Destroyer and the quality is top notch. The edge is a little sharp but a few trees will wear it down pretty quickly! Very smooth flight and pretty much identical to the flight chart. Less powerful throwers may think it's a hair too overstable but with a decent bit of power this disc will have a nice slight turn with a pretty good amount of fade. Overall amazing disc and I will absolutely be buying more of these in the future.

Threw this disc a couple times and it is similar to a beat up boss in my opinion. In a head wind it will flip up turn right a little ways then have a nice fade at the end. It flys for ever in a nice tail wind if you crank on it with a forehand. Advanced players will like it if they are needing just a less stable boss and beginners will like the feel of this disc!
