The Westside King is one of the FASTEST golf discs on the market. While this ultra-fast disc is overstable, it has a decent amount of turn, allowing it to glide and fly further than most discs this fast. Although the King has a 14 speed rating, its rim is a moderate 2.3cm. This is an excellent disc for intermediate and advanced players who want to get more distance on their drives.

I will start this review by stating that my max distance, when not accounting for any accuracy whatsoever, is around 400' in perfect conditions.  Just to give whomever may read this an idea of where my arm speed is.  Also I should state that my King is slightly used.

I usually stick to 11-speed drivers, but had a friend offer this to me at a good price as he bought it and found it wasn't as overstable as he'd thought.  I went to throw it in a field and was amazed at how understable it was, especially given the flight numbers.  I bag an Axiom Vanish as a fast, understable driver.  The King was noticably more understable than my Vanish.

I found this disc to be very tricky to figure out.  Too much height would result in an overstable flight.  Throwing flat would result in a "turn & burn".  Hyzer flipping produced mixed results ranging from perfect, long-flying "S" curves, to straight/slightly overstable lines.  I'm not sure I'll have much use for this disc, but I was shocked that I was able to get such a fast disc to turn as much as it did.

The King is a frankly baffling disc. First, the stated numbers bear almost no resemblance to the actual flight of the disc. A more accurate numbering would probably place the King as a 12, 5, -3, 1 or so. I expected a beefy disc with a gentle S-curve and a hard finish; what I got was a long-gliding slow turnover disc with a reliable, if gentle, finish to the left. Another...issue, for lack of a better word, with the King, is that it requires a fairly large, open environment to enjoy its full flight path.
On to the positives, however, the King is an absolute bomber of a disc. My first throw with the King cleared 375', which is the upper reaches of my normal distance. The next dozen or so averaged 390-400' in an open field. The King has a beautiful flight path and doesn't require a tremendous amount of power to throw properly; I would call it more of a "fine touch" disc than anything else.

The King isn't one of my most used drivers, but it stays in the bag because when the conditions are right and I can let it off the leash, it chews up distance like nothing else in my bag. I don't tend to throw much understable plastic, but the King hits the right balance of understability for distance and stability for finish

This disc is the farthest flying disc in my bag. I can really rip on it and get it to flip up to flat, have high speed turn, and fade out after a ton of distance. It doesn't really fly like a speed 14 though. I have a star destroyer that is way beefier and even Star Mambas that dive with the same arm speed as my 173g king. I would definitely recommend this to players who have played a little while, but probably not to beginners.
