The Westside King is one of the FASTEST golf discs on the market. While this ultra-fast disc is overstable, it has a decent amount of turn, allowing it to glide and fly further than most discs this fast. Although the King has a 14 speed rating, its rim is a moderate 2.3cm. This is an excellent disc for intermediate and advanced players who want to get more distance on their drives.

I don't have a big arm for Overstable drivers, a friend gave me this disc to throw. He said it was more Understable than the numbers say. I usually get a max distance of around 290-300ft. The first time I threw this disc not into a headwind and no tailwind I set a new Max distance of 345ft. I was shocked. Since then it is my goto driver I release it on a flat throw and it will come out and give me a good turn, then it fades back and if it skips it is a 3 Fade sometimes I get a huge skip and other times it just drops with no skip.

If you are looking for a Distance driver and don't have a big arm don't be afraid of the flight numbers give this disc a try. It flies great for me and I would suggest it for someone wanting a consistent driver. If there is a head wind it usally flies dead straight and fade is very dependable. I think the glide is more like a 6 and the Turn is more 2.5.

I used to goto the Mamba but now I reach for this before my Mamba for a distance driver.

Have mostly stayed away from higher speed discs but happened to find this one.  Pleasantly surprised that I am able to get it to flip up and it has a great S shape flight and it is now my biggest distance disc.  Not sure if the flight is because it is an old and beat up disc or not.

This disc sails for me. If I release on a slight hyzer I get a greas S shaped flight path and it seems to fly for days. I sometimes release it nose up and this thing shoots into outerspace. It's my go to disc when I have open space and need to push 400 feet or more.

    Disc - 174 Tournament King

Feel - The king has a slightly wider rim than what I enjoy on a distance driver but is not so wide that I cannot control it at all. It is fairly shallow and the one that I have is fairly flat which made it feel good for forehands and backhands alike.

Flight - The king is a bit too flippy for my liking as it was too understable for me to throw no matter how much hyzer I put on it, it seemed to cut roll. I could see bigger arms using this as a roller but anyone who has about 300-350 feet of power this disc could be very good for you. It is easy to turn and has lots of glide which could help gain more distance.

Overall - A fairly flippy distance driver that could help players with slower arm speeds get a bit more distance

    170g - Chameleon King

I personally love my King. It definitely isn't as overstable but generally if I turn this disc over its due to my form being off and cranking it. The rim feels great in my hand and with a smooth release I can get max distance with it.

I bought this disc for fun because I thought it would be some gimmicky "Speed 14" driver, which in some ways it is, but it turned out to be more practical than I expected. I would recommend something in the 170g weight as this disc can be touchy with turn and I would say this is a disc for intermediate to advanced players. This disc is on open hole bomber and can easily add distance to your drive, I say open because you need some room for this disc to work its full s-curve. My other shot recommendation is ripping this disc with a tailwind. Its a pretty limited use disc which is why I gave it 4 stars, but its definitely worth a try if you want to have some fun, who knows, it may make your bag.

Be aware, this disc is beefy! My father-in-law got this as his first disc at a yard sale having no idea what he was doing, he ended up putting it in my bag and using my discs instead. I was still fairly new to disc golf at the time so I didn't have good form but still used this disc to test it out.

For my low power, this disc was straight and good fade on the backhand. It was rather large in my hand so I never did much with it backhand since I was loosing distance (full power was about 200-250ft with it). Where I found it worked well was forehand. I could trust to rip it with some flex and it would pan out and skip. Added distance to my forearm with the wide rim stablizing the disc more.

I found a King without a name at a local park. This thing is pretty cool! It's 173g and VIP. The flight numbers do not match up, IMO, compared with other companies like Innova and Legacy. It would be assumed to be stable/overstable based on the -1/4 turn and fade but that is not the case. Unless I throw it with some hyzer, it will usually finish to the right. With the correct throw angle and arm speed, this thing is a catapult and is one of my farthest discs. My friend borrowed it for a throw and almost lost it on a top-of-the-world shot (Not recommended). Better for uphill tunnel shots. One point deduction due to misleading flight numbers, but overall pretty great.

The numbers are not accurate, as others have mentioned. This disc is pretty touchy and will not do well in windy conditions. If you're buying this expecting a meaty, overstable high speed driver, you're going to be disappointed.

With that said, this is the only disc I own that I can fairly consistently get out to 400+ feet on drives. A lot of courses near me will have 400-600 foot open field holes, and with that kind of room this disc will bomb. Thrown with some hyzer, it will flip over and hold a line forever before finishing with with some fade at the very end.

I would only throw the King on holes with a lot of open space though. It needs a lot of room to get the full flight, and windy conditions will often put it farther left than I would like on forehand drives. Accept this disc for what it is and there is massive distance potential.

First and foremost, do not believe what the flight numbers suggest for this disc. Also, do not assume that every King is the same, because they aren’t. That said, what I’ve found this disc to be out of the box somewhat consistently is a stable/undertsable distance driver. Thrown flat, it will turn and likely never come back. Thrown on an anny, it becomes a roller pretty easily. Thrown on a hyzer, however, and you’ll get a very long beautiful flight; it’ll pop up, carry to the right a little, and typically come back for a VERY long drive. I think this disc best serves tailwind shots, or even beginners wanting to learn forehand.

For me, the disc turns a lot more than you'd think a -1 would turn, it acts more like a -2 or -3 but if given enough hang time, it will fade back. I received mine as a Christmas gift and used it for wide open power shots. I recently threw it into a pond that I had never reached before so this thing chucks.

I hate to only give a disc that flies as far as the King 3 stars, but for the life of me I can't control it. VEEERRRYYY finicky flier. Sometimes the King will turn and burn easily, and other times it will almost remain stubbornly hyzer and fade out too soon. In other words, if you have any arm at all, you'll have a hard time finding the perfect release on the King to maximize distance. It does NOT fly like the numbers printed on the disc at all. Lots of high speed turn and little fade.

When you hit the magical zone, the King is as long as anything out there. Huge S curve distance and a ton of glide. Given a choice, I'd rather throw the Destiny. Its a hair more stable and I have a far easier time flexing it out for big distance. The King has enormous distance potential, but lots of risk involved. Nearly impossible to throw accurately.

Listen to everyone else. This flips a lot more than you would think a -1 listed disc does. I throw a nuke 375 straight and flat, however this disc trying for a similar line will flip into a roller ~100 feet out.

Keeping in th bag and props for 3 stars because this is the perfect distance sky annie driver. Haven't thrown much anything better than the King.

This disc is an awesome bomber disc to get deep down a long fairway. However, I wouldn't recommend this for beginners as it requires a good deal of arm-speed and release angle control to make it do what you want. The speed is more of a 13 rather than a 14, But either way it is understandable that you need to put a large amount of speed to make it hold the line you want it to.

VIP 165. This thing is super understable and really only functions as a roller for me. I was disappointed as I love my TP King for max distance drives. Perhaps I just got this one in a weight that was too low. It would be great for a beginner that insists on getting their first warp distance driver if they must however.

I think that the King is one of the most fun distance drivers on the market, and a definite highlight from Westside Discs. However, it is pretty much agreed among disc golfers who throw the King that the flight ratings which are printed on the disc are wrong. It is given a 14, 5, -1, 4 rating. However, the disc (especially in Tournament plastic) is not nearly as overstable as those numbers would suggest. In fact, most people who throw a King would rate it something more like a 14, 5, -2, 2 and sometimes it even lacks much of a final fade at all.  I use the Tournament King as an understable distance driver, and a VIP King as a more overstable version when I want some fade at the end of the flight. But there is no arguing with the distance, as long as you don't mind it pulling to the understable side on the way to your intended target. Throw it to see what it does...don't go with the numbers.

The king is a speed 14 disc without the beefy rim of one. It has a very comfortable grip in the hand, and mostly shines when there is no wind, or a tailwind. This is more of a utility driver for me, as it is way more understable than the flight numbers indicate. I will absolutely never, ever, ever throw this into a headwind. I use this as a tailwind driver, or with no wind I use it as a hyzerflip to turnover disc, and when thrown properly it will come back out of it at the end. This is also an easy to turn over roller disc, and stands up very quickly out of the roller so it'll go right pretty quickly if you throw right hand backhand which for me usually goes 300-400ft on a roller line, sometimes longer. I absolutely would not recommend this disc to a beginner, or anyone that can't accurately throw 325-350+ ft. You have to be able to control your release angles, because it's very touchy, and is definitely a finesse disc. The only reason I'm giving it 5 stars is the utility that this disc gives me that no other that I've found can. It's misrepresented by the flight numbers, but if you throw it based on your individual throw and not the flight numbers, it can work very well for you in certain situations.

I love Trilogy discs so I don't mind trying new discs if I can. I saw a local guy using this to forehand so I purchased one and gave it a shot. I primarily forehand because of my bad shoulder and rarely use this disc. It seems to be a little unpredictable for me but it can really get some HUGE distance if need be.

Just had a local ace race and at the end there was a long distance competition. They had cones measured out every 100'. I was able to rip this thing forehand with a strong hyzer release and hit 455'. I was impressed for a disc I rarely do throw with that distance... Especially forehand. If you can generate some speed with your drives then I would give this disc a shot.

I have never found a disc with such a wide variety of stability as the king.  You can buy two of kings in the same plastic and get very different flights.  Some are over stable and some get a little understable.  Very finicky when it comes to nose angle on release. With all of the newer releases you can find better/more consistent options out there.

The King is probably the best distance driver to get max distance out of for intermediate to advanced players.

As many have stated the flight is not as overstable as the ratings suggest, but the glide number is dead on. I have owned several in different weights and plastics and I really love Elasto or VIP in 170's lighter ones will have a lot of turn, and the VIP Air are almost useless for anything but a roller or extreme hyzerflip. Even in a tailwinds they gain no fade.

The heavier ones however go quickly out of the hand, ride right and have a gradual forward penetrating fade that puts them back just to the left of where you began.

It has been my farthest backhand disc since I began throwing them last winter, and I don't see any other disc breaking that anytime soon.

In headwinds you need to add some hyzer or all of the fade gets lost though.

My longest throw with the disc was on a 500 ft downhill hole and the headwind got a hold of it. It ended up going over 800 ft and 200 ft off target. a little hyzer and it still would have been long, but at least near target.

It's got a very comfortable grip and doesn't feel huge like a Katana or Rampage.

Note with the King; unlike many discs that are more stable as they get flatter, the domey Kings have a higher PLH which makes them more stable.

The King is a speed 14 mold that even regular-armed players can learn to throw. It just won't get anymore distance than your other drivers, and will probably create bad habits with your form. Beware, if you don't throw speed 12 (or below) discs over 400' then this isn't the magical disc that'll get you there. The speed number on the disc does not equal distance.

For me to get decent distance out of the King, it needs tons of room to work a big flex shot on an anhyzer release. If thrown relatively low and flat, it hyzers out around the same distance of a control driver. I can throw a hyzer flipped Claymore almost as far as a King on a flat release -- not harshing on the King, the Claymore is just that glidey. But with enough room for a big S-curve, the King does get good distance.

Because of how much it anny it requires, the King isn't great for me in the wind. Strong winds can push it far enough that it doesn't come back. I bought a VIP Air King, thinking it would be the cure. Even without wind, that thing is as flippy as an Air Bolt. It would probably make a good roller, for those who can control such "throws."

If you don't have the arm, I wouldn't recommend the King. Find a driver that you can throw flat to get the proper line. I can get a few speed 9 and 10 molds out just as far as higher speeds, so you just have to find the proper speed and weight combo for your arm. But the bigger arms will be able to great distance out of the King.

The King is a very fast, somewhat understable driver that will stretch out every throw. Outstanding distance potential and great glide. Finding the right line can be an issue. Throw the King too hard and it will burn right and never even try to fade back. For sheer distance potential the King is at the top of its class though. Great disc for average players looking to make the next step up in distance.

Only reason I deducted a star was the King's wildness. It's a superb driver, just a tad bit hard to control. Not a good headwind disc either.

    Numbers more like 13/5/-1.5/2.5

If you ignore the Westside flight numbers - this is a great max distance understable at high speed, moderate overstable at low speed disc.

I may have gotten lucky with my King because I heard horror stories about how flippy or super OS they can act.  Inconsistency was an issue I guess.

BUT, I picked up a 171g VIP King and it flies true to the numbers I gave it. I would describe it's flight similar to that of a valkyrie but much faster and glidier.  I really like the king, its comfortable, its not very wide rimmed (despite the 14 speed rating....which is a bit of a stretch, it's no faster than a destroyer)

Overall I really like this disc and it's in the bag.  I suggest trying one out if you like Katana's or you like a disc you can power and get a full S shape from.

*I'd want to add, this isn't super flippy for me, its still something I need to power to get a long turn from, again I could have gotten lucky and had a nice stable King, but Don't expect a Mamba-type disc

I've had 3 VIP Max Weight Kings and they all do about the same thing, which is be very inconsistent. One throw will be the furthest I've ever thrown a disc and the next will flip all the way and crash out early. I would definitely recommend getting it at max weight because you probably won't need help flipping it over, but will need the help getting it to come back early enough for it to matter. This disc probably saves me more strokes out of my bag than in it because I see a long line that I could maybe hit with it, but who knows how it will go coming out of my hand. Having said all of that, I'm pretty sure the longest throw I've ever done was with a King. So if you're chasing a personal distance record, this is something to check out.

This disc is first of all, not a speed 14, second it is not overstable. Released on an extreme hyzer I was getting some good distance but it, along with all the other Westside discs I've tested, was very sensitive to the slightest wind.

This disc is a great distance driver. It is more understable than it's rating says, but it will still finish with some strong fade. I have been trying several high speed distance drivers out recently, and I would say this is a driver that a player could learn to build his/her distance game around. I could easily have several Kings in my bag and build around just that disc. I definitely reccommend this disc to anyone.

I have three Kings, two VIP and one VIP air. I use the VIP on a slight Hyzer as they usually flip up for me and will run straight for distance around 400 feet. The VIP air I will use the same way with a tail wind or I will through it backhand an anhyzer so it flips into the ground and rolls. I like this for a roller because it will usually push out to about 125 feet before it hits the ground and will usually roll to about 400 feet. The VIP air is way more understable, throw it into a headwind and it will flip upside down. If you have a strong thumber you can turn it all the way over and sail it just like the aerobie epic. Its a pretty silly disc but, when you get it right its amazing.

This is an amazing driver, other people have said it is not for beginners but I disagree. A few months after I started to play disc golf, I threw a friend's VIP and overshot the target. This disc in distance for me is second only to the Legacy Cannon. For me it has a very nice skip at the end for some extra distance. Forehand and backhand both work very well for this.

The Westside King is a different kind of disc. Mine is in opto-air, 168g. The flight of this disc seems to be a bit understable, but also overstable. Sounds weird and maybe its the opto air plastic i have. This disc likes to be thrown REALLY HARD and REALLY FAST. It says that its a speed 14 but i found mine to be a bit more liek a 12. Its hard to compare this disc to another bc i havnt come across one yet thats similar to this disc. IF you are a forehand thrower stay far away from this disc. When trying to throw mine forehand it would just flip over and roll away in the opposite direction. Throwing this disc backhand however i you get a nice flight path and with the speed and power can get good distance. I found that it does not like the wind. Ive thrown both the VIP and the Opto-Air and neither like any kind of wind interference. Overall this is a pretty good disc. If you are not a power thrower and dont have a big arm and looking for a good Westside disc i would go with a Northman or the Boatman.

Right now I'm using a 175 g VIP King and absolutely love it! Agree with what others have said about ignoring the flight chart. Except for the speed. Farthest disc I have ever backhanded. Make sure yu know what you are doing before you huck this disc. Newcomers read the 14 speed and think they can bomb it...not the case. Love how it flies straight with a tiny fade at the end. Personally this disc is 2nd to none for backhand. Averaging over 300ft per throw. KCCO

Like many others have said, the King reminds me of a Katana alot and the flight ratings are WAAAAAY off. I have one in VIP and one in VIP air. Being a newer player, I don't pull it out of the bag too often, mainly for sidearm bombs. The VIP air is MUCH more difficult for my noodle arm to keep nice and level without floating up and turning over.. The King is without a doubt my "wide turning" disc.

The King is a great driver for both backhand and forehand throws for me. I have a VIP King at 168g, and an Opto Air at 155g. This disc doesn't seem as overstable as the 4 fade rating indicates, and has a degree of turn to it that in my opinion should be more than a -1. I can throw this disc hard, it will turn and then recover. Even though it is a speed 14 disc, the rim of the King is only moderately wide, which is something I like. Some of my farthest throws ever are with the King. Five star disc!
