After MVP discontinued several older mids, the Reactor is the first to be born from the ashes. The Reactor is a workhorse midrange, designed to follow any line and fill any slot in the bag. It will handle big hyzers as well as big turnovers. Tell it where to go, and it will listen. The Reactor has a "modern" midrange rim, and is the first in MVP's Next Generation of midrange discs.

I have reactors in every plastic I could find, but this review is specifically for the neutron reactor

In neutron, the reactor is very true to the flight numbers. Goes very straight and finishes with just a little tiny baby fade. I keep it in my bag as part of a trio of reactors, with eclipse being the overstable version and fission being the more understable straight pushing version.

Neutron plastic is the most beginner friendly version of the reactor.

I have reactors is neutron, fission, eclipse plastics. This is a workhorse midrange that fits perfectly with the hex and pyro ( for MVP and axiom fans). My favorite reactor is in fission plastic at 163 grams. If you go to mvp's website, they point out that the 161-164 gram weight of fission reactors carry the flight characteristics of 173-175 grams Neutron reactors. It's amazing what GYRO effects can do. This reactor is over stable but workable. It should be in everyone's bag. Forehand or backhand this disc can sail!!! I've thrown it farther than 7 speed discs. The eclipse plastic reactor is definitely more over stable... a fade of 2 and not much turn, so keep that in mind. Just get the this disc! You won't regret it!

The reactor is the epitome of reliable. It will fly straight with maybe a hint of turn depending on the wind and how much power you have, but it will always have a controlled fade at the end of its flight. I love how board-flat the reactor is and Neutron plastic is only beaten by Plasma by MVP and K1 by Kastaplast. The reactor won't do anything you don't tell it to do. I can get it around 250-275ft consistently in the most predictable way possible. I pair this with an Axion Hex or a Finish Line Discs Supra and my midranges are set for any shot needed. If I'm playing in crazy strong winds an Eclipse 2.0 Reactor will join my bag due to its increased stability from Eclipse 2.0 plastic.

Quick Overview About Me: I throw at near sea level (<1,000ft elevation) and my max distance is around 350ft currently.

The Neutron Reactor is a 100% go to midrange in my lineup.

It combines for great hand feel plus great high speed stability as well as being very controllable. It's very usable for most skill level and I highly recommend.

    175g Neutron MVP Reactor

    Disc#3 in my bag

A disc I would dub "ol' reliable" as it is a a straight shooter with just a little fade. A skilled player might use the Reactor off the tee for a 300 foot shot, which would be unlikely for a beginner to do. That being said a beginner might make 200 feet off the tee with a driver and use the Reactor to get the next 100 feet to the basket. The Reactor is a comfortable disc to throw, but being a midrange, feels a little bulkier than other MVP discs.

I love this disc for the angles you can use it for. I have both this and the relay and between those I feel I can hit most of my mid shots with different angles. Reliable fade at the end but can be put on different angles and hold it for a bit to hook right around an obstacle on an anheizer line and will flatten out and fade at the end.

This disc is amazing. It's one of my two favorite midranges ever and it's been a staple in my bag for a very long time. I currently bag a neutron and a glow and they serve two totally different purposes. The neutron flies very very straight and fills a buzzz type shot for me. The glow, however, is pretty overstable. It flies like a champion roc3 from some of the older more stable runs. I pull out the neutron far more often than the glow but they're both amazing to have for their different roles.

When I throw the neutron hard it'll flip up ever so slightly then fly straight for so long. It's easily the furthest flying mid I've ever thrown. It will flip just a little but mostly it'll just fly on whatever angle I give it. I can throw controlled hyzers, turnovers, and straight shots with ease. The glow will fly straight then have a pretty significant fade at the end, perfect for hyzers, flex shots and shots that simply need to fade a little at the end.

The last thing to note about the flight is the fact that I can throw forehands with it. Until I found the reactor I never ever threw midranges on a forehand. That being said the flat top and torque resistance that both plastics offer allow me to throw laser straight forehands in the woods with a lot of control.

For me, the most important part of a midrange is the feel. I've thrown quite a few straight midranges and none have ever come close to feeling as good as the reactor. It's very flat and a perfect depth for my grip. I can power grip it or fan grip it with no problems. For me it's way more comfortable than the buzzz, compass, truth or any other alternative.

Overall I cannot recommend the reactor enough. It's a truly amazing disc and if you haven't tried mvp I think there's no better first disc than this. For beginners it'll be a good go to straight to fade type disc and for more experienced players you'll find an amazingly versatile midrange that will do whatever you want.

I love this disc. It has become my favorite mid range for any shot 300 and in. It is very consistent on a backhand. Goes dead straight for 80% of the flight and then has a nice and consistent fade. I have had mine for 2 years now and it doesn't seem like the flight has changed at all, which I love

Very underrated disc! I used this disc when I first started playing to learn how to throw sidearm and it was a great teacher! Holds lines well while being very torque resistant. If you are looking for a stable mid for primarily straight forehands and even overhead throws, this is the one to get!

The Reactor is my go to mid range. I used to throw Buzzz's, but wanted something a little more stable. I currently bag two Reactors in Neutron plastic for the wear factor.

These are super comfortable in the hand, not deep and they don't have the Buzzz bevel one the rim, which is something I didn't like.

I throw these for drives between 270-280, given enough height it will glide for days. The mold will also hold pretty much any angle, turnovers without burning over and will hold a nice forward penetrating hyzer.
If you are looking for an MVP mold that is more Buzzzy, check out the Axiom Hex.

This disc is special. It has replace both the Buzzz and the Leopard in my bag. Both the Buzzz and the Leoapard are extremely useful. This disc replaced both of them. When powered down, this disc behaves just like a Z Buzzz. It flies straight for most of its flight, then fades off strongly to the left. When powered up, it behaves just like a Champion Leopard. It flies a long, straight-ish S-curve that shapes shots well. I can throw the Reactor about 320 feet without too much trouble.  It handles forehand power a bit better than a Z Buzzz, More like the Leopard. The Reactor is extremely predictable and plays in the wind well. Not quite as good in wind as the Matrix, but close. The Reactor somehow manages to to everything that both the Buzzz and the Leopard can do, but be more predictable than both of them. I don't understand how, but I love it.

I now own 3 of these and they are exactly the same. A little faster and more glidey than described and quite a bit more stable. This disc was supposed to be a neutral mid for me, but flies more like a glidey RocX3 with some overstability and surprising glide. This thing is good for forehands and backhands, can handle speed and wind and has reliable fade. It's a good workhorse on open or hyzer shots up to about 350' although it can definitely go farther than that. I like the feel (beadless, no flashing) and the flight. Would not really recommend as a beginner disc because it takes some speed to get flying, but would definitely recommend for experienced players who need a good workhorse mid.

Before I get into why this is MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE DISC, a little about my game incase someone of my style and skill reads this review.

I'm a forehand only thrower. Once in a blue moon I'll break out a backhand but my backhand is awful. I throw my max distance forehand maybe just shy of 300 feet, but I'm generally pretty accurate with it. I'd rate myself as a casual, at best average player. Probably slightly below average.

When I started as a forehand dominant player about a year ago, I bagged all overstable discs. Again, I'm a casual player, my form isn't perfect, so I preferred the crutch of overstable stuff. When I did try and throw stable or understable stuff, the consistency wasn't there. When my friend gifted me a Neutron Reactor, I thought "great, I'll never use this". I threw it well a couple times and thought "eh, guess I just got lucky and had decent form on that throw". Then I essentially played an entire round with it and OH MY. It is by far my favorite disc and nothing else is even close. I've read reviews on other discs that always say "this disc will hold any line you put it on". I'd never experienced this until I started throwing my Reactor. This disc will ABSOLUTELY hold any line you throw it on. Anny angle? Check. Flat? Check. Hyzer? Check. Plus it feels amazing in my hand. Anything maybe 250 feet and in, I'm probably reaching for the Reactor, the only exception being when I need a heavy right finishing shot I'll reach for something more overstable. I bag the Neutron one my buddy gave me and bought an Eclipse Glow one. Both feel and fly the same for me.

Mids are a big part of my woods game and for years I've been cycling Buzzz's. When MVP released this disc I knew it was meant to be similar so I was excited to try. The first thing I noticed was the feel, not that the grip on a Buzzz is sharp but the Reactor felt so smooth in comparison on my fingertips.

Out in the field the flight paths were similar enough that the grip feel of the Reactor bumped my Buzzz. Dead straight with a modest predictable fade at the end. 300ft with a modest pull (backhand). Unless availability becomes an issue I think the Reactor is here to stay.

I bag 21 MVP discs and this is one of my top 3 favorites. Pretty stable right out of the bag, but I've played 3 rounds with it and it is already getting some more turn. Whatever line you put it on it will hold for a very long time and always dump out at the end. One of the straightest midranges I've ever seen or thrown. If you use MVP discs you HAVE to bag this disc. Great for forehands as well with a nice S curve and reliable fade. Truly a masterpiece by MVP.

    169 Neutron

I absolutely loved the Reactor from the first throw. As a relatively new disc golf player, mid-range discs never felt comfortable for me. I would basically use control drivers for most of my mid-range shots. However, this disc never felt like a typical mid (Chariot, Roc3, Buzzz, etc.). The Reactor feels very small in my hand compared to those style discs and that has always made me feel like I had more control. It went straight into the bag.

It is a very easy disc to control. As long as I make the throw, it goes where I want it to go. It is my stable mid and allows me to throw a variety of shots. It is perfect for hyzers. When thrown level, I can rip it as hard as I want without any fear of a long turnover. But, I am also not a power thrower. I pair it with the Origin (much less stable) and I can make nearly all of my desired mid-range shots. If I need a little more distance, I can pull out my Kaxe-Z. Based on my experience with MVP and Axiom, I assume it will will beat in and lose some of that stability. For now, after about 30 rounds, it flies just like it did out of the box.

If you like the feel of MVP, this disc is fantastic. I think the numbers are spot on as well. I definitely notice the 1.5 fade.

This is a great mid range disc. Very versatile. I use it for approach shots of every angle and shot type. Aside from a standard back hand approach shot, it excels on anhyzer forehand approach shots.

If you are stuck against a line of trees and do not have space to throw a back hand hyzer shot, the forehand anhyzer with this disc is very effective at getting to where you need it to go. Start it on an anhyzer angle and it continues on that angle just perfectly to get your disc where it needs to go. Unlike most discs that will fade out of the anhyzer angle when thrown soft, this disc continues on the same angle. It also has a nice rubber rim around the disc so if it hits chains, it typically grips and drops in the basket. If it does not hit chains, it will land flat and avoid the roll away.

The Reactor quickly became a go to mid for my drives and many approaches. The disc handles well in the wind with the sharp edge, also is not as wide as the buzz, it wont catch wind like a buzz might on a windy day. The disc feels very comfortable in my hand for all kinds of grips.

Put this disc on a slight hyzer and it will stand up slightly with the right power. Throw the disc flat and you get the same flight listed. The disc has a reliable fade.

I have recommended this disc to friends, and they are already recommending the Reactor to others. I also want to say this disc is useful for new players and veterans. Enjoy!

The Reactor VERY quickly became my favorite mid to throw. I'll compare it to the Buzzz and the Neutron Matrix.

Feel: The feel of the Reactor is one of my favorites I've felt in a mid. It feels sort of Similar to the Buzzz but it feels more rounded and the bottom of the rim isn't as sharp to me.

Plastic: The Neutron on my Reactor is a little softer than Neutron normally is but great grip, never have had an issue with it. Its certainly durable and holding up very well so far, and I throw the disc a ton.

Flight: On a lower power shot it will go straight and then kick into a pushing fade and it does fade a good amount. On a higher powered shot is when it gets really good. It flies nearly identical to a Buzzz, but it goes way farther for me. I've thrown 3 different Buzzzes and none of them have given me the distance that the Reactor does. It still does not have that high speed turn for me on a flat rip, but it just goes dead straight and then has that same pushing fade but its less aggressive than on lower power. Compared to the Neutron Matrix I had, it goes a good bit farther and fades a lot less. I also really like throwing the Reactor on long panning anhyzer shots, and glidey pushing hyzers.

Overall: This disc was a no brainer to bag. Farther flying than the Buzzz and Matrix I had, more comfortable, very controllable, can hold up to a somewhat decent headwind. I'm curious what different plastics will do for the flight of this disc.

This disc quickly became my workhorse mid. MVP had done a great job on this mold. It fits comfortably in the hand and the neutron plastic is grippy with some nice swirls. The reactor flies straight as an arrow when thrown flat and can handle a significant amount of torque without turning and burning. The Gyro equivalent to the Buzzz.

Love this disc. You could use this disc for anything. Beginner Friendly. If you throw this disc on a hyzer it will stand up and hold a straight hyzer for 300ft, it will come back on a reliable 1.5 fade. If you throw the Reactor flat it will fly very straight, almost like a new buzz. I would recommend this disc for almost anyone. I already bought extras :)

Have a couple neutron, cosmic neutron, and eclipse.

    Neutron:

As a primarily trilogy thrower, this is what I always wanted the emac truth to be. This thing is straight, long, and for the most part doesn't care how hard you rip on it. It's a reliable light fade that makes for a true straight shooter.

    Cosmic and eclipse:

A little extra stability out of the box than the neutron. The eclipse brand new borders on my slightly worked in DD verdict. Reliable, period.

This is a true workhorse mid, one of the absolute best discs I've ever thrown.

This disc immediately made my bag. It is very comfortable in my hand and throwing it just feels so smooth! It flies a lot further than I expected and holds lines incredibly well. My favorite shot so far are slight hyzers and this just seems to hold the angle the whole time.

I purchased the Reactor and Ohm as soon as they came out and haven't been disappointed with either of them.

The Reactor flies like a slightly less stable Matrix except I find the Reactor glides more. What I really dig about the Reactor is that I can throw a 300' laser with this disc without it ever being over 12' above the ground. It starts straight, it flies straight, and it ends straight. In the above mentioned 300' laser I think it turned about 2' right and faded 4' left. Two of my buddies tried it and already ordered their own.

It also holds sidearm lines, pretty much any kind I throw. Dead straight and it goes straight, it holds medium hyzers easily, big stall out hyzers get a good hard fade at the end, and long bombs just fly with a beautiful arc.

This disc isn't bad for a sidearm roller either (the kind where you hit the ground 10' in front of you.) I parked a 225' hole with a roller yesterday. It held the roller line all the way until the end when it wrapped beautifully around the practice basket we had set up in a park.

I would say the numbers are good apart from maybe the turn which I'd put at a 1 if you get a good snap. The thing about this disc is it sticks to the line you throw, so if the throw is flat, it will go straight, if it's even slightly anny, it will go anny, etc...

    MVP overmold comment:

A lot of people I play with don't like MVP overmold and I think mainly it's because the overmold discs require more torque to get a good flight and glide out of them. I notice that when I throw equivalent Innova discs they tend to turn more and I'm thinking that's due to the extra torque I've learned to put on MVP discs.

I don't think this disc would be great for beginners because if you don't snap the throw then it will simply hyzer out same as a matrix.

This is a great disc and I think a lot of people with good throwing technique will enjoy it.

Much more stable than advertised and lower glide than indicated by flight numbers.  This disc reminds me of a seasoned roc3. Great for lots of shots and can handle big arms without much turn at all.  But I am not impressed with the accuracy of the flight numbers.
