The first time I threw this mold was when I got this new Rubber Blend. I expected this disc to be an absolute meathook for short distances, but I'm finding that I can't get this disc to hardly turn left at all (RHBH) I can throw this thing absolutely straight for 300ft. That's cool, but I have so many other discs that can do that. I was hoping for something to replace my lost malta, this didn't cut it. If you want something overstable, get a malta or maybe a drone in z plastic.

Long story short: This disc in this plastic is NOT overstable. It's comparable to a Wasp or Roc

    MR. BEEF!

This review is for a Z Line Drone. If you are looking for a midrange Raptor or Firebird the Drone will fit that spot. Unlike the Malta the Drone warrants a +1 turn, this is the most overstable mid that I have ever thrown.

Backhand - I mainly throw the Drone backhand. When I need a slower option to get around corners and settle down without a massive skip it does the job perfectly. When thrown on Hyzer this disc will immediately begin to fade which is exactly what I was looking for to make those dog leg shots. You can get a nice flex out of the disc when thrown on anhyzer. I tend to only throw this disc on Hyzer or for extreme spike Hyzer shots. I found that the Hornet compliments the Drone nicely if you are looking for a disc in between the Buzzz and Drone for those straight to overstable finishes so it rarely ever sees use outside of scramble situations or windy conditions. The Drone cuts through the wind without flipping. If you live in the Midwest like me this could be a saving grace on those days with 30mph winds. The rim of the disc feels great on my fingers when using a fan grip and the thickness of the disc was not an issue when using a power grip.

Forehand - I only use the Drone forehand during field wield work. Again this is a great option if you are looking for a Firebird or Raptor mid but I found it to be a little uncomfortable in my hand. The thickness of the rim feels great for backhand but for forehand it doesn't rest comfortably on my fingers. When I do throw it during practice is does the job. When thrown on Hyzer you obviously have a meathook but if you have enough power to throw it flat and straight you can get down longer fairways with a little bit of flex. I found that the Buzzz OS just felt more comfortable and was easier to control for my forehand shots.

The Drone is a great utility or wind disc and deserves a shot to be in your bag. This disc is not for beginners at all. If you do not have good/decent form don't even try to mess with this beast!

    Yup, She's A Drone!

As a wee lad, I didn't cotton much to the Drone, but I certainly saw some experienced players working magic with it. After a couple years throwing Buzzz OS' as my overstable mid-range, I migrated to the Drone after finding an unmarked one on the course. It was an ESP FLX and flew great...like the Buzzz OS but longer.

So when these Ledgestone Drones came up, I had to snag one. If you've ever thrown a used ESP FLX Drone, then you know what to expect. Good fade that isn't too dumpy, excellent wind-resistance, easy spike hyzers, and great for forehands. The Rubber blend gives it some additional grit. Not for beginners, but if you need a lengthy OS mid range, this is my recommendation.
