The A2 is the beadless cousin of the A1. This disc is perfect for power throwers who want to avoid turning over their upshots, and who need a disc that they can trust in headwinds. The A2 is still very stable, but it has a bit more glide than the A1 does, and can be expected to fly 30-40 feet further than the A1.

This is the best approach disc I've tried. In 300 plastic, it is straight with a reliable finish, allowing you to hit it very hard without it turning over. This is a great first forehand approach disc for beginners, with it working well both forehand and backhand. In 750, it's very overstable and great for skip shots.

I have 3 A2s. I think the hand feel if the A2 is unmatched. It is very shallow and flat topped. I really like the feel for forehand and backhand approaches. This disc is my go to for approaches inside 250 feet.

300 - It started off pretty overstable. But now after about 3 months it is beating in to be a straight flyer with some fade at the end, but it still has the torque resistance it has at the beginning.

400g - I have a Gavin Babcock A2 that is exactly like the flight numbers say. It's pretty overstable but has plenty of glide. I've had it for a year now and it still flies like it did when it was new.

400 - I temporarily lost my 400g A2 and bought this one to replace it. This one is super beefy though. It fades very soon and will flex out of any anny. This one is pretty much a utility disc now.

If you never liked the feel of the zone, this may be the best alternative. But if you are trying it before the zone, you may find the feel to be fairly strange. Definitely not shaped like any other four speed disc, but that may be a good thing. You may even like it as a compliment to the zone as the rim being shaped more like a driver allows for skip plays if that's what you need.

I never really liked the zone's feeling with smaller hands and I thought the tactic was too under stable for my liking. I got this as part of a membership for a course and it seems to be just like a zone but it feels better in my hand. This disc is very easy to trust in the wind and for hyzers. Ground play varies based on plastic, my 300 will sit but my premium plastics have some ground play.

I was in need of an overstable putter/approach disc, but this disc just wasn't the one for me. It could be the way I throw, or the applications for which I use it, but I have been unable to execute any good shots with it. The disc starts fading very quickly out of my hand. If I throw a softer shot, it usually turns vertical and gets pushed by the wind way off my line. I'm sure it's the right disc for some, but not me unfortunately.

The A2 is an overstable approach disc from Prodigy. It has a very flat top and has a sharp slanted edge. The closest thing (that I have thrown) to it is the Discraft Zone.  It is very overstable at first but it eventually beats in to straight with a good finish.

I personally like it for forehands and for hyzer backhands. It is a great approach disc for those looking for something to have an overstable to straight finish out of Prodigy’s line up. I personally no longer bag this disc because I feel as though there are better discs for this slot.

The disc is great but it doesn’t stand out and in the 300 plastic it was too inconsistent.  The disc really isn’t one that I would drive off the tee with and it definitely is not meant for putting. This disc is really meant for shots 250 and in for most people. Honestly it was an average disc, but I would choose something else before choosing this disc.

Great get out of trouble disc. Has a lot of fade - very similar to the Zone, but to me much more reliable. This disc is great for backhand when you need a lot of fade to avoid some trees or other, and a really great disc to learn forehand. I always have this disc in my bag but don't use it all of the time but its one of the best utility discs that I own. Very flat profile and feels good in the hand. I have the KJUSA version. Its also really great for skip shots or when you don't want a roll away. Excellent disc

Purchased originally in 300 plastic last about a month 10+ rounds. Then i dead centered a tree playing a very wooded course, & it folded the nose down a good bit. So I purchased 1 in 750 & 500. Haven't bagged the 500 yet but the 750 has hit trees, rock/gravel and still flies like new with no serious cosmetic damage. If your looking for an approach disc with a dependable over stable finish. This is the disc for that. It can also take some torque FH, & produce some nice skip shots if you're in a tight spot & need some ground play to get a bit more distance.

    Plastic: 500

I came across the A2 when I was searching for a Zone replacement. The flat top and beadless rim immediately attracted me to the feel of the disc in my hand. This disc is considerably more OS than a Zone (think slower justice) but nonetheless fills that overstable approach disc slot wonderfully. I have thrown both the 400 and 500 versions and both seem to hold that stability integrity regardless of the plastic type, which can be nice when plastic gets slim pickens.

Flight: RHBH when thrown hard and flat the A2 wants to push straight for half of the flight and basically knife out left for the second half. When released on anhyzer, it tends to slowly pan out of the anhyzer angle and finish flat/softly dumping left. RHFH this disc can manipulate any angle you put it on. VERY torque resistant and has added easily 30-40ft of distance on my forehand approach comfortably. The 500 version tends to be skippy around the pin which can have its pros and cons. Break this disc out on any hyzer line 275ft and in, you wont be disappointed.

I first tried the Prodigy A2 during a 2018 Par2 event. The feel in the hand was great off the bat and before I got a chance to throw it, I was pumped about it because of the feel of it in your hand. Sometimes at these beginner friendly events, the discs don't always feel too great in the hand. This one however, felt great. The first hole we played was really short, so I threw the putter instead of the A2. Next up, we had a couple longer holes so I decided to use the A2... this thing is extremely beefy! It's not gonna give you a large amount of glide but if you are looking for something that is going to hook hard and fast, the A2 is perfect for that shot. If you have a lot of dog-leg holes on your local courses, you definitely need an A2 to get you around the corner! Pick one up and try it for yourself!

This is a very reliable approach disc.  Thrown hard it will pop up to flat with a stable finish, thrown softer it will hold a steady hyzer line.  It can definitely hold the torque for us foreharnd approachers!

My name is Pedro and I play on the prodigy street team. I recommend the prodigy A2 for intermediate advance and pro. The A2 is my favorite sidearm disc for small approaches and drives under 300feet both sidearm and backhand . The A2 is the best keep secret from prodigy if you will like too safe strokes out A2 in your bad.

I have always bagged a beefy putter for shots 275 and in. I used to bag an R-pro pig max weight. I found this disc to have that grippy feel of r pro but a little stiffer. This disc is beefy, but if you like throwing putters alot then you will love this disc. Instead of bagging a SUPER overstable mid range like an m1 or a gator, I bag this disc. I can get it out 275-300 max and it flies just like a mid for me. Very useful for those who are in a similar situation.
