The A2 is the beadless cousin of the A1. This disc is perfect for power throwers who want to avoid turning over their upshots, and who need a disc that they can trust in headwinds. The A2 is still very stable, but it has a bit more glide than the A1 does, and can be expected to fly 30-40 feet further than the A1.

The A2 is a wonderful beefy approach disc with a somewhat unique hand feel. It basically feels like a small rimmed driver, which makes me feel confident when giving it a full send. It flies beefier than your average Zone, but nowhere near as OS as the almost unusable category of discs like the ZoneOS or Stego. I highly recommend this disc for experienced players who are wanting to branch out from your average Zone/Zone clone.

Was looking for a faster zone and I would say this fills that slot plus some! 400 plastic is incredibly grippy and I think one of the very underrated runs out there. Whenever I need to really lay into a 200 plus up shot this is the disc i reach for. Just make sure you have a clean release on your sidearm otherwise it can still turnover. It's also great for backhand approaches when there is substantial wind.

-Reviewing in the 400 plastic- this is a beefy, low profile, beadless approach disc. I would say it is on the faster side of 4 speed discs. Compared to say, a zone, it flies a bit faster. The hand feel is not ideal, for me at least. It doesn't have very smooth dimensions in the rim area, but I could still throw it well. The fade on it is nice and strong. Definitely a little better for skip shots compared to most other overstable approach discs. Overall a good beefy approach disc, if the hand feel doesn't affect you too much

This disc is beef!! Compared to other approach discs like the Toro, Pig, and Zone this is faster. For me, the disc will fight out of whatever anhyzer angle you put it on. It kicked the Justice out of my bag. Since it is a faster disc, it will skip more than other approach discs. I like to use this for scramble shots in the woods.  I think of it like a 5 speed firebird.

I recently picked two of these discs up in a 400 and 750 plastics. I throw them with a forehand and they fly really straight with a pretty hard hook at the end. They feel amazing in the hand and they hold whichever line you put them on. They are my go to from anything from 100-225 ft. I will never not have one in the bag!

This disc is an amazing approach disc that can handle arm speeds that would cause a putter to flip up or even turn over. The A2 is great for getting around corners or obstacles without needing to angle the disc. I often find myself realizing I need to throw this disc flatter and trust the overstability.

I have 3 A2's, a 400, 500, and 300. Each start out the exact same and that is an extreme meat hook. I can throw it flat and the disc will angle to a spike hyzer line where it hits the ground and skips forward. I can imagine the 300 will beat in the quickest as the plastic is very low durability compared to the 400 and 500. Between the 400 and 500 I noticed no big difference and I felt like it would just be a plastic preference. The A2 is a lot more stable than a zone or zone like disc from most other companies but can be used in a very similar way just needs to be worked a bit more. I find it flies a lot like a sockibomb slammer just in more premium plastics. If you want a super overstable and slow speed approach putter check out the A2.

This disc is very overstable for me. I love it for those shots where I'm pinned behind something and need to get out and around, and it is very reliably overstable...however I cannot get it to fly straight to save my life. I cannot get it to go flat, no matter what angle put it on or how hard I throw it. This is definitely a utility disc.

I only use this disc for approach shots but man is it a great disc for that. Also great for short flex shots or get out of trouble shots, even short rollers for about 80 ft.

This Disc is beef cake. It has so much fade, but that is it’s charm. It is so dependable. In wind or not, this disc has the same flight. Not a lot of glide, zero turn, and  huge fade. From 200 feet and closer, I use this disc to get around things, and it does. Every time.

Very very over stable for me and this is my get out of trouble disc. Easy to forehand or backhand and will go about 150 with a hard hook back left!

The A2 is a perfect headwind upshot disc! It’s a real fighter. I use it for short approaches to the basket. In a head wind I’ll throw it straight and it flies straight. If there is no wind I’ll aim to the right of my target and it will hyzer in right on point! It is also very good to use for putting in a headwind or for short touch flicks to the basket.

I have the A2 Core Team edition, so it is very similar to champion metal-flake plastic. I also have the Anvil in VIP metal-flake, which I think were the first runs. On comparison the discs are almost identical in shape, feel, and flight. Both the discs are high 170's. The A2 will fade, no doubt about it. Forehand, backhand, also great for forehand rollers and pancake thumbers. My version of this disc has slightly less glide than my Anvil, probably only noticeable when thrown multiple times side-by-side. Great approach disc, and hard fading tweener putter/mid-range. Crushing a forehand on a slight anny yields me around 300 feet of distance, dead straight except the fade at the end. If you put much more angle on the disc it will hold the anny line for a long time, never turning and burning, and depending upon power it will either flex out, or simply hold the anny to the ground. With a little practice this disc will definitely be a keeper for approach shots of almost any kind.

The A2 is similar to the A3 and A1 minus the bead. It is still an overstable hog, and I really don't see much of a difference in flight from the other two. If you like your overstable approach disc beadless, give the A2 a try.

I really like the a2! I bag two of them, one in 400 and one in 300.

The 400 a2 has a bit of dome and has a slower, floaty flight while still having the hook at the end, where my 300 a2 is flatter and flies faster.

I use the 400 when I want some ground action, and the 300 when I want it to dig in a bit.

Hyzers, spike hyzers, grenades, flat hook shots, flex shots...the a2 does it all.

I equate the A2 to the Harp or similar overstable putter as they fit the same shot, but I think the A series, specifically the A2 does the job much much better.  The A series is the size of a putter with a midrange rim which makes them incredibly easy to throw nice and flat, which is the most important point, IMO. Beginners beware that this disc will not go far and will burn out if thrown with any hyzer.  Seasoned, it's a bit friendlier, but I always try to get it out nice and flat and let it fly it's 250'.

There are a few discs that I find myself going to over and over to get out of trouble or in between putters and mids and this is where the A2 shines. Need a 200' skip shot? A2.  Need a 250' shot into a headwind? A2. Little putter flick into the basket? A2.

This disc does not need a long review because it does one thing; it hyzers. In my opinion its one of the greatest discs ever made. If you have a high arm speed you will find yourself reaching for it constantly and if you don't have a lot of arm speed it still has a job to do for you. Do yourself a favor and try it out.

This is the A1. Just like a previous review stated, the flights are completely the same. The bead is just smaller on this one so for me it does feel much more comfortable.  Here is the thing with this disc. It doesn't power down well... at all. So you can throw it full power or get an inconsistent skip type shot.  But if you want a spike hyer disc: you will love this. If you want a really OS putter: you will like this disc.  This is one that goes in and out of my bag. I have a few courses around my place where a 200'ish spike hyzer is ideal- thats about the only time it makes it into my hand.  I would compare this to a Justice: more of a utilitarian disc than a real thrower. Speaking of the Justice this did kick the Justice out of my bag for my ulility disc.

I LOVE the A2... my favorite of the unique Prodigy A discs.  I agree with Jace that the A2 is sort of the best of the A1 and A3... and without a bead its easier for me to power grip.  Fade is not as strong as the A1 (same weights, same plastics) and I definitely get more glide than the A1.  I regularly bag the A1 for utility use and very windy days.  It fades too hard too early to be a serious option every course much less every day and every hole.  The A3 doesn't get too much love from me as I have plenty of other discs that can fly similarly (sorry A3 and my wallet).  But the A2 is now permanently bagged.  I can get near midrange distance with it at full rip BH with no fear of turning it over.  Even more distance FH (even I can FH it and I suck at FH... newbies who've never thrown a golf disc before can FH it).  I see about 40 feet more max distance from the A2 than the A1 on the same throw.  Great for short approaches.  Handles wind almost as well as the A1 but not quite.  I even putt with the A2 sometimes when the wind scares my max weight Star Rhyno.

I feel like BigCountry83, it flew pretty much the same as an A1 for me, but without the bead.  I'm a fan of the beaded approach/midrange discs though, so I'll probably end up not using this one as much.  I really liked the A3, which is also similar in flight to these ones.  I feel like anyone would be pleased with the uniqueness of these discs.  If you're looking for something overstable, snag one of these.  If you like a bead, try the A1 or A3, if don't like a bead, snag an A2.  That's what it comes down to for me!

For me, the A2 flew exactly like an A1. EXACTLY. Really overstable, not a lot of glide, but enough to push it a ways. Easy for flex shots and forehands. The only difference between the A1 and the A2 is the A2 doesn't have a bead and is a little bit less domey. Don't think I'll be trying out the A3, as I imagine it will be too similar to the A1 and A2. Get a Zone or Gator instead.

Definitely liked testing out the A2. I was a fan of the A3, so I was excited to see how the A2 compared. It falls true to the Prodigy naming system, right in between the A1 and A3 in stability. Basically, it flew like the A3 right out of the hand, but then it dumped like an A1. It was very predictable once I got a hang of it. As with the other A-Series discs, the disc is very comfortable in the hand, and has a nice release. I think this will be a great addition to Prodigy throwers' bags.
