Prodigy 300 Soft A2

Prodigy 300 Soft A2

The A2 is the beadless cousin of the A1. This disc is perfect for power throwers who want to avoid turning over their upshots, and who need a disc that they can trust in headwinds. The A2 is still very stable, but it has a bit more glide than the A1 does, and can be expected to fly 30-40 feet further than the A1.

Very disappointed with the A2.

Texture is like that of a fuzzy eraser, very unusual, offering very good grip.

First time out with it, it was just a little bit windy (12mph), and it proved to be extremely sensitive to side winds and being flipped up by the wind.  This surprised me because it's much thinner than a Zone.

I was practicing with this and a new Zone cryztalflex on the same holes, and the Zone did just fine in comparison, in the same conditions, same throws.

Also glide is much less than a Zone (if you can even call it glide for this category).  It doesn't like to stay in the air at all and drops fast.

As a putter it's great.  But I have many other putters, so adding it to the practice stack.

As an approach disc it might be better for calmer days in general, or perhaps for players more advanced than I?

I'd call it a more comfortable Zone OS. With its sharper rim profile feel, let's you get further distances then other discs with the same flight numbers. The 300 soft plastic isn't as soft as the 200 plastic but it's more durable so it will hold the flight characteristics longer.

PROS: Overstable, will get around corners. So overstable it doesn't want to skip.
CONS: It's hard to push it out there for distance like a Zone, A5, or Whippet.

Short Summary: Feels like a shrunk down fairway and greatly versatile.

Feel: It feels quite shallow, with a wing that feels like a driver. The 300 Soft plastic isn't too grippy to feel like it'll hold onto your hand when thrown, but enough grip to grab the ground and sit down when landing. The rim is shaped like a blunt edged driver which could allow for lots of ground play if you so choose.

Flight: Way more overstable than you'd think, with similar discs in this slot being known for having some flight before finishing. Obviously having some straight flight before fading, but there is never a worry that it won't fade no matter the wind.

Great approach disc that hits the green and sticks in this specific plastic. Reason for 4 start is that it beats up very quickly.
