The Volt was the first driver in the MVP line. This disc is designed for long, accurate placement shots. It holds a line very well, and the GYRO technology gives it a forward penetrating fade that make it ideal for long, tight fairways.

Right now this is a great addition to my bag to have a reliable fade. If I want a straight shot and distance I got to my Wave but I can get an anhyzer angle to get this started and it will level out and fly straight. As this beats in I'm sure it will lean more towards a flat release but it is a very reliable disc around obstacles to fade left or high over obstacles. If you don't have the arm speed this will feel extremely overstable.

The Volt is essentially a Teebird3 perfected.  It has a touch more glide, a touch more stability, and is a little more workable.  It fits that difficult slot in the bag when a Thunderbird (or other 9 speed stable disc) might be too fast and a Teebird (or other 7 speed stable disc) might be too slow.  Also makes a great woods disc as any tree kick will not send it flying too far off into oblivion.  You will find MANY uses for this disc.

P.S.:  This is the first disc that I purchased from the MVP family (MVP, Axiom, Streamline).  After this 1 purchase, I became an instant fan of this manufacturer.  I have made many MVP/Axiom/Streamline purchases since and have never received a dud or been disappointed.  Highly recommend checking them out.

I feel like this disc is confusing. It has an edge and rim that feels like a high speed driver, but when thrown it can't get up to speed without being turned over. This disc is very picky and I don't believe is very reliable. It fades out super quickly if thrown too slow, but gets turned over if thrown to hard. I would only recommend this disc for someone who wants to get used to a faster shaped disc but doesn't have the arm speed for a speed 10+.

The Volt is the 2nd disc I've tried from MVP, after throwing the Wave for a short time. Mine is 172g in Cosmic Neutron, and the plastic is great - very grippy, opaque and bright colors make it easy to find. My only complaint about the plastic is the black overmold doesn't seem super durable and that's the part that gets beat up the most. Hopefully, MVP will eventually make a more durable overmold. But that doesn't stop me from really liking this disc. I wanted something a touch more overstable than the Instinct and this Volt definitely is. I throw this both backhand and forehand and it handles both extremely well. In fact, the Volt handles forehand much better than the Instinct. I'm still getting this disc broken in but I think the numbers for this cosmic neutron Volt are slightly off, I would say 8/5/0/2.5. It had no noticeable turn or flip up for me and it faded a little harder than a 2. I have 350-ish power so I'm sure bigger arms will notice some flip up.

I really like my Volt, but it is not at all what I was expecting when I bought it hence the 3 stars. I got a cosmic neutron volt, and it's the most overstable disc in my bag. I can put it on crazy anhyzer and it'll always finish back. I've seen other comments saying that they have the same thing so just be wary.

I bought this disc in cosmic neutron expecting it to replace a lost Teebird 3, but this is significantly more overstable. I can throw this hard and flat, both FH and BH without getting any noticable turn - just a long straight flight with a reliable fade. I reach for this disc when I need a little more distance than my resistor with the same finish and maybe even a skip.

I have 3 volts. Plasma, Neutron and Cosmic. They are all very different in stability. Plasma being the least stable and Cosming being vey stable. I absolutely love them all!.
Both cosmic and neutron can handle a hard flick. The difference is that the cosmic needs to be thrown on an anhizer for S lines, but the neutron has enough high speed turn on its own.

I rate the cosmic to be 8, 5 0 3 and after a couple hundred throws it shows no signs of wear at all. It still flies like a new.

Really wanted to love this disc because I was really excited about the flight path and flight numbers on it. That said, I was shocked at how overstable it was. It is easily the most overstable control driver in my bag, it really makes me wonder if I've just got a mold that acts different than others. I was looking for a fairly straight path with a bit of a fade at the end but this thing has to be thrown at full power to be something close to that. Even then mine fades so hard that I'd best define it as an aggressive meat hook. This disc turned into a sort of utility disc for me. It still has a place in my bag and there are times when its just what the doctor ordered but its definitely not what I intended it to be. Feels good in my hand at least!

The flight rating is pretty spot on for this disc in this plastic, one of the best fairway drivers that can go into your bag. The cosmic neutron is much more appealing to the eye and it feels less slick than its traditonal neutron plastic from years past, the rim is deep enough for a comfortable backhand grip, but also shallow enough to be comfortable for the sidearm.

I bought this disc thinking it would be like a teebird which was my go to straight shot disc. However man when I threw the volt I found no turn in the slightest. I would say I have some power being a former baseball player and knowing how to use my hips but man I get no turn off of it. I do like the disc I use it for tight windows I need to finish right (LHBH) on. But man definitely a little more beefier and less turn than I thought.

I would not necessarily recommend for beginners I would say start with an Amp first from MVP then once you get more power bump up to the Volt.

This particular review is just for the new COSMIC NEUTRON plastic of the volt.  The Cosmic's (all 3 that I purchased from this site) have a higher PLH (parting line height) than all of my other volts.  Meaning they should fly more overstable.  I tested them and yes, that is correct they are significantly more overstable than any other volt I have used.  I would rate them 8/5/0/3 - It has a really nice overstable flight while still having the feel of the volt, which is excellent.  The glide is also surprisingly still there.  The plastic itself looks and feels great, medium-firm firmness and moderately tacky/grippy - dome-wise: it has some/slight dome but definitely not DOMEY or uncomfortable to hold

If you're a volt fan and want a more OS version, this is a great choice - If you like OS fairways and want to try something new - give it a shot - The best I could say that it 'flies like' (other than a really OS volt) is a REALLY beefy CD2 or glidey FD3
