The Volt was the first driver in the MVP line. This disc is designed for long, accurate placement shots. It holds a line very well, and the GYRO technology gives it a forward penetrating fade that make it ideal for long, tight fairways.

Very nice feeling driver. The one I bought is board flat, and neutron plastic has great grip and durability. Fast and overstable flight though. The rim width is quite large for an 8 speed and I would say it's a 9 speed or even 10. As an overstable hybrid driver it fits the bill well, but there's a bit of overlap with my firebird and wraith so it hasn't found a place in my bag yet

10/10 fairway disc!! Super reliable with a stable finish. The feel and overall flight of this disc is perfect for all skill levels. I often find myself pulling this out for backhand and forehand upshot's. Especially when that wind is blowing!

I'm newer to disc golf and this has been a great driver for me. The 8 speed is definitely enough for the courses I play. I couldn't control 11/12 speed drivers.

has an 8-speed flight/distance but a 9-speed rim. its fairly big feeling and tall. it doesnt really get a lot of turn and dumps a little more than 2. not very glidy but very predictable+ a unique feel for a teebird-like disc, defo check out!

Such a grat disc, definitely not a real 8-speed so it flies similar to a champ thunderbird or a vulture. It goes SO far and straight for most of its flight with a reliable Finnish. Get yourself a volt.

The Volt is one of the best fairway drivers available, capable of providing all of the distance, control, and reliable fade needed to make it your go-to disc anytime you don't quite need maximum distance. Within the MVP/Axiom fairway drivers lineup, I have also thrown the Servo, Wrath, Tesla, Insanity, Inspire, Relay and Crave at different times during my progression as a player. Compared to those discs, the Volt provides similar stability as the Servo, Wrath, and Tesla while consistently flying at least 30-50 feet farther. It's also 30-50 feet longer than the Insanity, Inspire or Relay but tends to fly in a tighter pattern while being much more stable at the end.  The Crave is "sneaky long" for its speed ratings so I'd say the Volt provides similar distance as it, but thrown RHBH,  the Volt will reliably finish left whereas the Crave will almost always land dead straight.

Of the discs mentioned above, only the Volt, Crave and Servo remain in my bag today. The choice between using the Volt and Servo mostly just comes down to distance with the Volt being the automatic choice for longer hyzer throws.  The Crave is still my best all around disc for long straight fairway shots, but I can't use it when I need a long hyzer finish so that's where the Volt shines.

One of MVP's first molds the Volt has garnered a near legendary status as a reliable stable fairway/control driver. The way I describe this disc is that it is the happy in-between zone of a Teebird and a Thunderbird. The Volt is like the Thunderbird in that even under a well juiced throw it will not turn and eat through most winds with ease and finish with a nice forward pushing fade. The Volts low speed fade isn't as pronounced as the Thunderbirds, making it fly tighter on controlled shots which suits it better for target golf much like a Teebird.

The Volt is a dependable driver that straddles the line between fairway and control drivers and performs laudably in either position. The Volt is my go to mold when I'm playing for position on long fairways, or weaving through woods and don't want to get pinched.

Fantastic disc.  Feels quite gummy in the hand, yet has withstood some punishing tree kicks.  My go-to forehand tunnel disc, and excellent for shorter backhand hyzers.  Flies flat and fades dramatically to the right.

Disc - 175 James Conrad Tour Series Volt

Feel - This disc feels amazing in the hand. I would say the rim size and speed of the disc is more like that of 9 speeds from other companies. Honestly I don't think I've given MVP a fair shot in the past to go in my bag but I can genuinely say if I could grab a couple more of these volts they would compete for a spot in my bag.

Flight - I'm not sure if the Conrad tour series run flies different than the stock runs but this disc is flat and very overstable but still has good glide. It reminds me most of the stiff champion Thunderbirds that have a lot of glide but are still very stable. I was able to throw this disc in wind and it held up great. I threw it on a stiff anny and it came out. I really enjoy this disc and hope to get a few more to see if they could kick out the Thunderbird from my bag.

Overall - Great disc from MVP and the Conrad stamp is so sick as well.

There are mixed reviews on this disc, some saying that it flies straight with a bit of turn, others calling it a meat hook. I fall into the latter category, but that's actually why I love this disc! I can swing this disc wide right, and trust that it will come back to center, and it is also the perfect spike hyzer disc for me (for slightly shorter spike hyzers than I would use a distance driver for). It is also reliable in a headwind, as I simply cannot get this disc to turn over. But, that's what I love about it! Has been a staple in my bag since I bought it.

    Updated 02/2022:

I have had these in neutron, cosmic neutron, Proton, plasma, and electron.

First time I threw one of these I definitely did not have the arm for it yet. Super overstable with poor glide. Since I've improved as a player, I've found the Volt to be a highly reliable and predictable mold. Like with many mvp molds, it just doesn't really care what the wind is doing. The electron beats into a nice straight shooter with some subtle turn and a controllable fade. The James Conrad neutron is definitely a bit more beef, but still controllable and nice for forced flex shots.

I don't currently bag the volt as I've found I can get the same flights with less effort from a DD Evader, but I could definitely see myself returning to them in the future.

4 stars for definitely being more overstable than the listed flight numbers.

This disc is my forehand disc for straight lines and also my workhorse disc in windy conditions. In windy conditions, I have found it never to turn over but instead holds a very straight line before hyzering. Forehanding this disc is very comfortable and throwing at a flat release will enable this disc to exactly the shape as the flight guide above.

I throw side arm. This disc is my workhorse. I bag plasma, fission and two neutrons in different weights. This disc allows me to take multiple lines to reach a target. I have been playing with the volts for a few years. They don't need to beat in but handle wear nicely. I can get these out past 350 feet when I keep my lines tight.

This was the first fairway driver that I could really put a lot of trust in. I find them to be a bit more under stable than the numbers would suggest. This is true for every plastic, even though I haven't tried electron, but it is base plastic so after one tree hit it would get flippy. My favorite plastic is neutron. What I love to use this disc for is hyzer flips on tight holes. I have several of the in different plastics all of them in different stages of stability or stages of flippiness. Some go straight on a hyzer, while others flip all the way over to a big turn before landing flat. I only carry one in the under stable fairway spot. I recommend this disc especially if you are moving up from mid ranges into drivers or fairway driver.

The Volt is known by most to be the most popular fairway driver in the MVP/Axiom lineup. I however, differ from this popular opinion. Don't get me wrong... it is a great fairway and I don't dislike it one bit... it's just in my opinion there are much better gyro fairways out there. The Volt is great for straighter shots that you want a slight amount of fade at the end. You can really put some power behind a Volt and get it to turn before it settles on riding straight with slight fade. Or powered down, you can actually get a decent amount of fade out of it. As I said, it's a great disc, there are just others that I prefer over the Volt. It has never made a permanent spot in my bag and it probably never will. With this being said, still a great fairway. I'm just simply not a Volt fanboy

The MVP Volt is a must have for anybody's bag for a straight/stable fairway driver. When bought brand new this disc is not more stable than the flight numbers as other discs and brands are, but it's true to what it says. The Volt is straight as straight can be for 90% of the flight with a reliable fade at the end. Everybody says that the hardest shot in disc golf is the 250+ foot straight shot, but now you have your very own weapon for this type of shot. The Volt goes where you tell it to and then sits down once the speed has left the disc. This disc will show you exactly where your release point is extremely easily so the mistakes that are made when throwing this one can be easily explained as user error and not that of the disc because it doesn't lie... It just goes and goes straight!

This is a tie for my favorite control driver. Fission beats in really fast giving a great disk to throw hyzer flips, particularly if you don't have the arm speed to really torque on a higher speed driver.

Super straight with a highly predictable fade. Beginners with slower arm speeds can keep the disc ultra straight and it seems to hold up to the wind great. As I’ve gotten a little better and built up my arm strength I’ve been able to slightly turn it over and get an extra bit of distance out of it. I have two in my bag and throw it consistently

The Volt flies far and straight and fades forward. That's all you need to know.

It takes a fair bit of power however, it's faster than it seems. I would not give this to somebody who was new to the game. But if you are throwing 300+ and have your nose down, then it's just a beautiful thing to watch this guy rip. My #1 recommended fairway.

    *********- An easy description is a Speed 8 Valkyrie/Teebird hybrid -***************

**Short Version: Feels great, Flies beautifuly - Like a nicely worn-in Champ Teebird.  $ flight, slight turn , reliable fade**

((UPDATE: Picked up a Plasma Volt 174g - Way MORE understable, like, by a LOT, keep that in mind -- 7/5/-3/1.25 )))--8/13/18 I picked up another Plasma volt and it was WAY more OS than the other - actually more OS than my neutron and about the same as my eclipse ---also got another eclipse and it was FLIP CITY  - SO early runs were flippy- later runs mixed - and current run is about in the middle - gotta compare PLH and flatness - sadly its hard when ordering online.

(Another UPDATE: I do feel this disc is more speed 8 and almost overlaps with a Valkyrie - It has more glide than most teebirds - more speed - a bit more High speed turn )

    ____

    *long version*

I held off on getting a Volt for a long time.  Not on purpose, but the fact I use Teebirds, Teebird3's, F5's, Patriots and I own an FD, TL, etc - I did not think I needed another stable fairway driver.

I was at my local course that has a shack with discs for sale. I found a White NEUTRON Volt at 173g.  It was exactly what I would get anyway, so I figured, WHY NOT?

SO GLAD I did.  To me this is not a Teebird replacement its a complement.  The Volt that I have does have some initial turn, just a mild bit, but hooks up nicely late. Which makes it excellent for shaping a straight line. Flat release will fly as 7/5/-1/2 with a mild turn , straight mid-flight and a hook-up in the end.  The disc feels like any other speed 7 disc but seems to glide and soar as far as my faster drivers.  It handles touch nicely as well.

**Favorite shot was parking Hole #5 (long pin) at Kaposia South St Paul, MN . I released with a very slight anhyzer, it held a straight but smooth turn then flattened out straight and finished with enough hyzer to straighten out and skip forward.  I've never gotten that close on that hole before.- The very next hole Was a similar shot - slight uphill narrow fairway, long pin, did the same exact thing and was in a great position***

Overall its a very comfortable feeling disc.  Its a good all-around fairway driver and also can get good distance if you want it to.  It does have a lil' turn to it and may not be best to power throw into windy situations.  Right now I am paring The Volt with a Teebird3 as a more HSS fairway complement. (Patriot for US and Firebird for OS)

If you like the Discmania FD but wanted something that has more hook-up at the end, this is a good choice.  Both good discs.

    The VOLT is a solid.

Also, FYI ECLIPSE is most OVERSTABLE and is awesome - then Proton, Neutron, Plasma/Fission, Electron ---> UPDATE 8/13/18 - I was at a store and compared PLH and I got a new Plasma Volt that is more OS than any of my neutrons - it is a mold that varies so keep that in mind - with that said I like the higher PLH volts as they resist turn better and can handle a lot of power - I am now carrying 2 volts, 1 fairly OS 1 mild turn and they work beautifully together

My Volt is my favorite disc in my bag. Point and shoot. Mine seems a bit more stable than number suggest. It's a laser for 300ft and I'll never take it out of my bag. It handles flicks well. Too overstable for beginner speeds though. 170g.

The Volt is one of the most consistent molds in my bag.I have it in 3 plastics and different weights.Which seems to make very little difference in the flight of these discs.I am 43 years old, primarily RHBH,and have been playing disc golf for a year now.Typically,my drives are around 300'...330' is a good pull for me.So,this is the perspective of my review.

MVP's Volt is an overstable fairway driver.I think the GYRO tech causes this, and is the reason for the flight numbers I have assigned to it.Also,I don't think I have ever been able to actually get a Volt up to speed.Because even though I generally throw them 280'-300',the only time I have ever gotten any turn out of one was in a 40 mph head wind.

Having said that,I love this disc.I know exact what it will do when I throw it.Infact,it alone replaced two other molds in my bag.It is the bridge between my midrange and distance game...as a fairway driver should be.It's going to do 1 of 2 things;at less than full power or released on hyzer,it will carry a hyzer angle through the whole flight. And at full power,it will have a fast straight flight with a steady fade the last 1/4.If I need to trust a disc to definitely handle a headwind, this is the one I throw. The feel of the volt is very comfortable in my hand. So,I also use it for flick approach shots and "get out of trouble" shots such as thumbers and tomahawks.

The Volt has become part of the core of my bag...and my game. The beginner will grow into it,and higher arm speeds will find it very useful.I recommend it highly.Throw GYRO!

The Volt is an excellent control driver. The feel it has within the hand is very comfortable. The rim is quite thin, which makes the full finger grip superbly comfortable. Like all the neutron plastic it is quite durable.

The stability of the Volt is a little more stable than I would depicted, not by much though. For the most part I will hyzer flip it and it will only come out of the hyzer flip for a brief instant if at all before it will start to fade.

For distance, I bet I would have gotten the biggest distance with the Volt if it wasn't for a tree. I hyzer flipped it and it came out of it, then went to the right slightly and was going straight when it hit the tree. The hole this happened was a couple feet under 300', and the tree that stopped it was past the basket. Wish I could have seen how far it would have gone.

This is an excellent control driver for the stability of the disc. It is quite reliable and is an easy throw for those who have weaker arms, like me. For this reason the Volt is in my bad this day, and has been ever since I picked it up.

I love the Volt! I have a 174 gram Neutron that is my go to fairway driver. I would say it is more on the overstable side that the numbers would lead you to believe, you really have to give it a good rip to make it flip just a little. This is probably my most thrown disc into a headwind. Great, great piece of plastic.

I have a 172g Neutron Volt in white. This is my go-to disc off the tee pad in most situation, and for good reason. I can really rip this disc through my throw, and it won't give me too much high speed turn at all. I'm not sure I buy into the gyro "forward-penetrating" fade, but this disc does stay flatter longer than most other fairway drivers in my bag. Really useful for hitting tight windows off the tee box while still getting solid distance. My average drive off all discs is ~300ft, and I get just shy of that with my Volt. Highly recommend this disc to anyone looking for a straight-flying disc with good speed and a flat top.

First MVP disc I ever bought. Didn't know what to expect. Threw it once and eveyone I was with ended up buying an MVP disc that day. When I had no arm speed it went straighter than James Bond and then faded nicely.Once I got some oomph in my throw it went as straight as Enrique Iglesias. Still held a place in my bag and sadly will be retired due to overuse soon. I shall miss it. We bonded.

On a serious note: This is the same thing as a tesla, but you can put less arm into it and it'll keep it's turn. Little more forgivng than it'solder brother.

This Neutron Volt wasn't quite what I'd expected it to be. Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a dead-straight disc, but I've read that it could be thrown on a frozen rope with ease. Reading further, I found that most of those claims were referring to the First Runs of this disc, whereas the current runs are more flat and overstable. After figuring that out, I've definitely found a use for this disc. It's a great stable-overstable disc, that when put up against my Prodigy F2, beat it hands down with it's more forward-penetrating fade and reliability. It has a great feel in the hand, is good for forehand shots, and handles wind fairly well. I'd buy it again, and I'm sure once my form becomes more developed it will be a vital disc for me.

Yeah, believe the hype about this disc, it rocks! This disc definitely has job security for staying in my bag. I can throw 400 with my max distance drivers, and this thing I can get almost as far as that. What's cool about this disc is that I can rip it flat as hard as I can and it will just soar through the air straight as can be and then once it starts losing steam it will fall off hard to the left. So I just aim a little to the right of my target and let 'er rip! She is so consistent! I mean, I literally snap this thing as hard as I can and it has never even turned on me the slightest! Just carries straight until, like I said, it loses juice and then falls off. Doesn't skip away or anything, just that depend fade out at the end. I know other people have volts that show some noticeable turn but mine is crazy stable.

i bought a new red neutron plastic volt at 173 about a month ago. it is a very well made disc and like all mvp disc looks great. after throwing it several times it became apparent that i did not have quite enough arm to activate its high speed turn phase so it was fading on me 2 early. i still really liked the disc but it just wasn't doing what i needed it to do as a fairway driver. so i gave it to my youngest son (18), he has a lot more arm than the old man does. on his first throw with it he hit the top of the basket on a 390 foot hole on our local course narrowly missing an ace. i have since seen him throw this disc over 400 feet. when thrown flat with enough arm speed this disc has a beautiful flight path. a short slight turn and a solid fade that always gets a forward penetrating skip after hitting the ground. if you have good arm speed this should make a great driver for you.

Decided to go with a Neutron Volt over a Teebird (heresy I know). First off, I got the blank Neutron in blue and it is easily the best looking disc I have (except for maybe my red Star Roadrunner). Flight wise, this disc is fairly fast, but not so fast to require the big arm, it has glide for days with a dependable fade to be stable in windy conditions. I am super happy with this disc and am starting to think that MVP has it figured out (also have an Eclipse Anode putter). The only thing holding me back is redundancy in my bag if I were to pick up the other MVPs, it's hard to give up a Buzzz, Hornet, and Roadrunner for MVPs right now, but that day may come.

I have a 175 Neutron Volt. I am so glad I got one of these. This disc goes so straight and also finishes left nicely. I can't say anything bad about this disc, except for the fact that I didn't throw it well for about the first week I had it. Amazing disc. If you don't have a Volt, you should try one and buy it!

The Volt is MVP’s first, highly anticipated, driver. I find MVP discs very polarizing; some people love them, others cannot stand them. I wouldn’t classify myself as an MVP fan (I have owned Ions and Vectors) or hater. I thought I would give the Volt a shot. The Volt is described as a slightly-overstable Fairway driver. The disc is one of the best looking discs on the market; my red-black Volt got compliments from people who don’t even play disc golf. The Neutron plastic is quite slick. The black plastic on the rim is a grippier than Neutron, but still quite slick. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend this disc in cold/wet conditions. In the rounds I played with it, the black overmold suffered significant wear (many small nicks) on asphalt and concrete. Z, Champion, and Opto are more durable. My primary drivers are Champion Teebirds and Opto Saints (maxing out about 330, 350 respectively). Some describe the Volt as a longer/more stable Teebird. Initially this sounds something close to a C-Line Discmania PD. The Volt I purchased did not fly like a PD or a Teebird. The Volt is quite understable. The disc didn’t seem to flip up and fly straight like a Teebird or Saint, rather it flipped up and either faded slightly or not at all. I threw the disc in calm and windy conditions; the Volt is not for windy. This surprised me as my MVP Ion is the best wind putter I have used. I thought it might make a good anhyzer disc. I traditionally throw Star Roadrunners for long slow anhyzers. However, the disc seemed to lack the glide that Roadrunners and Saints have. My throwing style depends heavily on glide, so the MVP didn’t make the bag. Ultimately, I would compare the disc to a less-stable Eagle (Eagle-L perhaps?); more turn and less fade than a Teebird. The flippy Volt I received may be an exception to the rule. On the Disc Golf forums I have run across several individuals defining their Volts as understable. Overall, the disc seems to have received more hype (an incredible amount of hype…) than it was able to deliver. Honestly, I believe it received more hype than ANY disc can deliver. Is the disc a flop? No. I don’t throw them, but I’m a sure other disc golfers will find a place for it in their bag; especially dominate MVP golfers. However, minimal flight glide is usually reserved for discs that are stable (Gator, Firebird, Cro, etc). It seems rather odd that an understable disc would have such little glide. The disc may make an excellent roller with the gyro and fast wear on the rim. If you’re a fan of MVP, I would recommend giving this disc a shot. Beginners should stick with discs that have more glide such as the Innova Leopard, Latitude 64 Vision, or Discraft XL. Advanced players…well…I’m not one, so do what you will.
