The Volt was the first driver in the MVP line. This disc is designed for long, accurate placement shots. It holds a line very well, and the GYRO technology gives it a forward penetrating fade that make it ideal for long, tight fairways.

This is an incredible disc in any plastic. It's one of those discs that you can bag in each plastic and not have to use a bunch of different molds across the stability spectrum. Get an eclipse when you need stability and a neutron when you need flippy. Max distance I like the Fission Volt but still in a heavy weight (yes they make those). This thing competes with any of my distance drivers.

I have trouble rating the Eclipse Volt because as far as the flight of the disc goes, it's 5 stars all the way. My low rating is because the disc is made for glow play but doesn't work for glow play.

I have two volts in my bag, one in proton/eclipse and one in fission plastic. If I didn't like the Drift so much I'd get a Volt in plasma and/or neutron as well. The proton/eclipse Volt is more overstable than the fission Volt by at least 1.

The reason I bought the proton/eclipse Volt is because I wanted to use it for glow play.

As it turns out, the glow rim is completely useless for glow play unless maybe you're on a literal golf course when there is no moon or stars and where there is no chance that the disc will get under leaves or behind brush or branches or anything like that.

The glow rim looks cool for a while as it bombs off the tee pad, but if I need some distance then I can bank on not seeing it land. By the time the card is done with their drives, the glow in the rim has dissipated to almost nothing (even with massive charge time with a strong UV LED light) and at that point I'm simply hoping it's where I thought it was and it didn't roll anywhere. When I find it at night I feel lucky (although I don't use it for glow play any longer.)

Don't get me wrong, the Volt is an awesome disc, but MVP's attempt and being different by only making their over-mold rims glow but not the plates makes their glow line a complete joke for actual glow play.

This disc is (currently) the only MVP disc in my bag as of right now because of an array of reasons ranging from preference to plastic... but I gotta say... no disc does better what this one can - It's a true shot shaper; I know where its gonna go before it even leaves my hand. Easily the best forehand disc I've ever thrown; the consistency with a flat release slight predictable fade at the end gives you a great line that a turnover RHBH shot would normally be applied. It's accurate, low-profile, can take a little heat, and feels great in the hand. The disc is pretty great for all arms and skill levels and especially rewarding for those that look for accurate placement shots. Very satisfied with this disc and should be able to find it's way into anyone's disc library.

I only give this 4 stars because I was told (by the owners of MVP) that it would be very stable along the lines of a champion teebird. I want to be able to throw it into a headwind and have it not turnover but so far it has. I love it for straight shots and any lines I need to hit. Still very stable, but not to the degree I was promised.

This is my favorite disc. It takes a while to beat in, but once it does, you can use it for any type of shot you want. It's true to the flight numbers posted on here, just with less turn when it's brand new. I reccommend this one to all my friends, and it's made me a fan of MVP discs as a whole.

The Eclipse Volt is a disc that I like but I disagree with the flight ratings.  I have never seen it fly with a -1 turn.  It's turn is non-existant, but it's fade is late and moderate.  Maybe my disc specifically is a bit more overstable, but I have thrown it full power into a headwind, flat, and have never seen it turn.  It's best use is just then though, headwind throws when you want it to still fade reliably.  I wouldn't call this a bad disc, just more overstable than I thought it was going to be.  Eclipse plastic is a bit more overstable than the Neutron, to be fair.

On the topic of plastic, I have to say that I am unimpressed with Proton/Eclipse plastic in the cold.  With the temperatures starting to drop around here, I find discs starting to slip out of my hand, even with an increased grip.  Neutron is not as bad, and I have not tried Plasma just yet.  Keep that in mind when buying.
